I've been extremely happy with the only 3 broadheads I've ever shot. Thunderhead for my 1st 5 years then muzzy for about 10, then g5 montecs since around '06 in my mathews then my ten point and now my WR fury 410. Good luck, and I'm sure all of them will work great. Again, great, thorough, video.
Cool video. I would like to see you shoot 4 “control” field points in the beginning of the shooting portion to see how you grouped them to better determine the accuracy. 70 yards is far and you man have not even been able to group the field points so it’s hard to tell how different the broad heads fly. I did something similar at 50 yards where I’m personally able to get right groups with field points then checked the broad heads.
My understanding of Sevr performance is they deploy to the patented locking feature, but if they then encounter something hard on both blades, they will fold further past the lock to improve penetration. Of course if they hit something hard on only one blade, the blades will pivot to reduce the resistance for improved penetration. So, the Sevr appeared to perform as designed in your test.
I've used Swhacker for years, put them thru many deer easily. Originals, Levi series and steel series. Blood trails look like you just dumped a paint bucket everytime, always bust thru everything at 70#'s. Couldn't suggest a better product and they're extremely accurate and reliable. Taken multiple deer in the 50yd - 70yd range with complete confidence
Love seeing that you’ll be using the evolution outdoors Hyde. It’s the broad head I’m hitting the field with this year and have seen great testing out of it on John Lusks channel
I have used both fixed and mechanical of multiple brands. I like both for different reason. I like one piece fixed for being able to resharpen and reuse them and not having to buy news ones after a shot. I like mechanical for the large cuts and small profile. Both have their place in my opinion. Just comes down to preference. No need to shame each other for the choice we make. It’s ok to like different things people. Hope everyone has a successful season no matter what type of broadhead you choose. May your shots be good and the life of the animal taken quickly. God bless everyone!

I shot the megameats on a couple does early last year and it was insane blood trails looked like 5 gallon buckets of red paint thrown 5 foot up trees…shot 2 bucks after that with the grim reapers and they shoot super straight and great blood trails really good broadheads
On the Swhackers, you can use the white bands or the green rubber plugs to retain the blades. Or you can use both if you feel that you need extra retention.
The sevr did deploy properly its just when they hit something really hard like that osb the blades fold over each other making a smaller cut so it takes the brunt of the force so that the blades dont break. Thats why they were stuck. Which is very good design in my opinion. Great video brotha!!
@davidadams4789 a rib won't do this. Went through both sides of the bull in my profile picture at 65 yards with the 2" sevr. Shattered ribs on both sides. Great head. They pivot if only one blade hits. Would only overlap like this (maybe) on a shoulder blade.
Would love to see the G5 T2. Those beasts were pretty impressive. I currently shoot the deadmeats, have killed anything with them yet but I’m considering the T2’s or the beast.
When getting my arrows setup, I weigh the tips and the arrows and then match the lightest arrow to the heaviest arrow. This has got my setup normally able to get within 0.2 grains across the total arrow weights.
Just an FYI the Sevrs are meant to lock in that position there's a pressure point you push on the blades in order to get them to release back to normal.
Shot deadmeats last year. They are devastating on whitetail, had a doe basically drop in her tracks about 2 yards from Impact. Had a pass through on a buck hit the front leg on exit side and cut clean through the bone.

I hate that nobody knows about Tooth of The Arrow Broadheads. I really don't think that there is a better fixed blade on the market. It punches SQUARE HOLES. They are freaking AMAZING!
Low angle of attack blade, heavy grain, at least 15% FOC, fixed broad heads will ALWAYS be superior. The Ranch Fairy has convinced me completely that heavier arrows and fixed broad heads are better. The bone breaking potential and wound channel creation is unlike anything else. And that's shooting a 50lbs compound bow. At 70lbs (which isn't really needed with heavier arrows) it's complete internal devastation. Ribs and shoulder joint destroyed. Just sharpen and shoot again and again.

Today I decided to broadhead tune and it’s all over the place. Trying to tune with Montec M3s. Shot them out of my old bow with zero issues. I’m starting to think my shafts might be under spined. What spine are you shooting??
Also, you might need to change the cam alignment with a tap hat or spacer alignment swap. Basically, moving the cam left or right. Then shoot through paper to get a perfect Bullet hole. Then shoot your broadhead and field point. Move the rest in the direction you want the broadhead to go to meet the field point. Once achieved, re-sight in your sight. Good LUCK!
From my experience, it's probably a spine related issue. 30" draw provides a lot of power stroke depending on race height. I'd definitely try 250 spine arrows cut at 29". It also depends on insert weight and broadhead weight. Stiffer is better than weaker. Arrows are expensive these days, I dealt with the same issue and Stiffer spine worked every time.
Try a R.I.P. TKO Elite 250 or even a 200 spine. That way you can have a heavier insert for my F.O.C. I think an arrow with your draw should weigh about 500 grains. This will be safer for your bow and make it quieter. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

@Elkaholics You’re 100% spot on. I get a laugh when these guys pay attention to the entry mark and act surprise when not all blades opened or some only opened “85%” Fixed blades there’s zero worry with a much higher chance of 2 holes, not one.
I mean, good luck getting a pass through on a elk at 70 yards, definitely one way to blow your $700 tag like this guys says he spent 🤦♂️
If you hunt 30 yards or in then fixed is probably best but if you want to take a 60 yard shot and don’t trust yourself to tune your bow perfectly then mechanicals would be your best option. It really depends on what’s best for you!
They literally are far superior than fixed blades. This has been tested
The largest study ever done 30k deer showed if you are shooting fixed you are losing deer
1-10 deer you shoot with fixed you will
Lose compared to mechanical
Yeah the fatel steel series is what I used.
Grim Reaper.
100% Grim Reaper pro series. Have shot a TON of animals with mine and I have never seen one go further than 20 yards. It leaves a massive hole.
