Met Head & Munky of Korn when they passed through Stockholm. Here's the interview!
Hi Ola, I heard In Flames are coming to Sweden in August. Do you have some plans to do interview with Chris Broderick? It would be awesome
awesome ola. now we need them on coffee with ola. i also listened to them when no one seemed interested in them. lol. they were unique and different. glad to see them still touring.
Hello Ola, honestly considering the time and the nerves you had, you knew how to take advantage of the time and ask simple and entertaining questions, thank you!
Great interview Ola. It's completely different when a musician interviewes musicians than when some media guy. 🤘
Very cool Ola. Great interview brother 👊
Knowing Jonathan history, I almost cried when Head said that he is finally happy! he deserves all the happiness in the world!
Amen me too so good to hear 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
The best thing about this interview is that Ola is getting interviews with his idols and heroes from his teenage years. That says alot about his own succes and achivements.
Yeah, so glad to see him there, such a great interview
Korn has always been my favorite Nu Metal band.....the reason I got a seven string, along with steve vai
They created the genre, but to be fair IDK if I'd call them "nu metal" I believe they helped create that genre alongside bands like R.A.T.M, Faith No More, and Pantera. Nu metal was more of a response to bands like Korn though, Korn came out years before nu metal was even a discovered genre...I would call Korn an alternative/metal band, f*ck genres though it's all about the music!!
Whats up Shred?!
Muahahahaha.
Check out super secret band
We say fuck genres too 🤘🤘🤘
lord shred!
spreading positivity as always (almost always)
So glad to here Jonathan is happy, he deserves it, hes been through a lot
That is not Jonathan, it's Munkey

Musicians interviewing musicians makes for WAY better interviews than random "reporters" or "journalists" or whatever. At least for me. I'd much rather hear about guitars and effects and such than almost anything else.
I agree. I always like it better when the interviewer is a musician himself, but not only because of questions about equipment, but also because their questions are always more interesting: They usually avoid stupid questions that musicians are asked thousands of times and are more interested in musicians as ordinary people, rather than as "celebrities". As a result, the conversation turns out to be more friendly and honest.
totally agree, makes both sides feel like it's not being just phoned in
Right? Olas not asking dumb questions. You can tell when musicians are tired of people asking the same stereo typical questions they've answered a million times.
100% agree
“I’m just a youtuber.” Humble that Solar guy... 🙌
No offense to him, but compared to Head and Munky he is just a UA-camr.
Love how down to earth they are
munky is
Imagine being one of those bands that Korn just shouted out.
I wonder if they really know the bands or just being nice. Either way, still awesome
Bohren are fucking great tho.
@@skc1003 I guess they don't have time to scroll through endless videos or songs as they have lives. I am sure they really like them.
Spiritbox 👍
@@Starch1b2c3d4a Really been digging Rule of Nines lately. Discovered Spiritbox through ERRA. Courtney LaPlante is a fucking force.
When he talked about light and dark, it was goosebumping. I loved every moment of this❤️
It's what Star Wars taught us lol :D
No matter how much my music taste has changed. Korn first and second album forever is in my heart. Still takes me back.
Follow the Leader and Issues were ALWAYS in my CD player back in my teenage years. In a way they kinda helped me get through a lot of crap back in the day.
8:57 "there's the light and the dark (in our lives) and we like to jump in the dark with the art we create. But we don't live there". That's the most brilliantly simple and accurate way I've ever heard that put.
I saw Korn with Megadeth back in 94. They came out and were so different from everything happening, it was refreshing. That first album is untouchable (no pun intended). They are the godfathers of their genre and they helped keep heavy music afloat during the 90's, among a few others.
I also saw them on that tour. They opened for Megadeth and I believe Fear Factory and Flotsam and Jetsam were on that bill as well? Anyways, I remember them coming out in their red Adidas suits and jumping up and down in time and I was like "what in the hell is this?!" A year later I was all in and the new metal era was starting to hit full swing. Crazy times followed 🤣🤘
@@majesticpbjcat7707 Thats exactly right!! I saw them on that tour as well. Went for Megadeth, came back a Korn fan. I didnt really know what to make of them at the time but when they played "Blind" it caught my attention.
@@majesticpbjcat7707 agreed. Me and my buddy stood in the pit for a while, then went up to the balcony. It was the Port Chester show.
We rolled a blunt, smoked it while Korn was coming on. We initially thought they were black guys. We only seen Adidas and dreads. And it was so off kilter, the music, the look. Blind started to build up and our ears perked up, and it came in... the head banging with the 4 of them up front is something I felt in my soul. It wasn't even head banging, it was the whole body banging, and it was from the depths of hell. They reached way down to feel that groove. And it was all believable. It didn't feel like a gimmick, it felt like a style. They were bringing forth something unique and I was there to witness its birth.
I was a thrash fan who reluctantly accepted grunge years before, but Korn was instantaneous. I'll admit, they fell off for me when Head left, and although I like their newer stuff, nothing beats when the cherry was popped. The first few albums were part of my existence.
Saw them on the same tour, in San Francisco.I was like 14 and met Rob Flynn of MachineHead (who was watching from the crowd) I remember he absolutely crushed my hand when he shook it🤣 I had previously seen them (machinehead) and Biohazard when they opened for Slayer
Funny enough, I saw Korn with Megadeth live couple of weeks ago 😁 I feel so lucky to be able to see Dave still crushing it. And Korn were fvck1n incredible! 🤘
I haven't listened to Korn in 20 years but I'm glad they're still going... such chill dudes!! Awesome work, Ola!
Me too, I think the last album I liked was take a look in the mirror
@@saulgoodeguitars should check out the last 2 The Nothing and Requiem. Both are really good.
@@TheAlexmynameis I’m slack with music, I only check out stuff I’m really into and not worry about other stuff
Requiem has the same song structure in every album. Intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, breakdown, chorus, outro
Lol yeah pretty much. Cool dudes, but dont have an interest into projects the may have goin on, but definitely wish em well and am happy to see them still doing it. I love seein old dudes still gettin down. D.R.I is one of my favorites. Lol they look SO old, but probably sound better than ever...
I fucking love hearing artists talk about what music they're listening that inspires them. I've found so much great music (that i would otherwise probably never find) from interviewers asking that simple question. Thank you Ola :)
Agreed, didn't expect Spiritbox and Wargasm to show up!
KoRn was one of the bands that introduced me into Metal, back in 2001.
21 years later, it's still one of my favorite bands and Requiem is one of their best album, imho. Sounds authentic, honest with new elements here and there.
Love those guys, still humble and down to earth.
I liked the way they were interested about your UA-cam works. That means a lot. You definitely can be proud of yourself, Ola.
This is well deserved.
Thank you for this video.
They got me into metal when I was 10 in 2002

Korn aren't metal - they're nu metal, which isn't really metal.

I don't need to tell myself anything - all true metal fans know this for a fact.
They’re such nice people! Head seems a lil tired but he’s vibing. Really nice of Munky to show interest in you too, asking about the channel.
Not a Korn fan here, but I been to Korn show in 2008 and blown away by their live performance and live production. Professional stuff.
This band meant so much to me in Middle and High School and it makes me so proud to see what this band means to the newer generation. They truly have achieved legendary status.
i’ve worked a number of events lately featuring older metal acts and the core audience was mostly all older men with some older women…but KoRn’s audience was truly all over the place, about as many teenage girls as there were old men and everything in between as well.
@@mattsonrobbins281 I saw them for the 3rd time last year in Oct and the audience was a huge mixed bag of generations from Gen X to Z and some even younger.
I've had Head's red splatter 7-string for about 6 years now and it's still the best guitar i've owned
I've got the white splatter one 😁
Ibanez KOMRAD :)
The only thing I don't like about the RGD models, is where Ibanez put the pickup selector switch - just looks shit IMO right next to the lower cutaway.
My wife is a photographer and shot Head’s side project show they came to town. Said the whole crew and band were beyond cool and professional.
His Christian band HEAD? Love it and played that album over and over
@@HeathBlair Yep. They had an actual prayer circle before the show. Head is apparently quite sincere in his beliefs.
When the circle formed up, one band member abstained. Wife asks him where everyone went and the guy says “They’re in there praying to Jesus.” She asked “Sweet little baby Jesus, or grown man Jesus with a beard?” (Wife is Christian herself but has a sense of humor)
The joke landed. LOL
So your wife literally had a point blank Head Shot on Head
@@mikakettunen7939 Oh, several. LOL.
I should eventually look at the photos (she shoots a lot of different stuff). I bet they’re really cool.
@@HeathBlair his side project band is called Love and Death. Not exacly a Christian band. The lyrics are more about positive messages, struggles of life, and not specifically religious stuff.
No one on this planet sounds like KoRn. What an incredible band! They experiment so much and still sound like KoRn. Not many bands can do that.
This was fantastic!! It's just really a shame you didn't get more time!! Hopefully this experience means you'll get a full Coffee with Ola length sit down next time! Great interview, and those guys are so chill and down to earth! If you ever get to do this again, it would be so cool to see them play some stuff. 🤘🤘🤘
Ola this is an amazing interview! It was short but they were totally open to speak about their stuff THANKS!!!!! Very valuable!!
I would highly encourage anyone else who grew up with these guys to catch them live. Their shows are incredibly fun and both the new and old songs are absolutely killer in concert. So happy that they're still going strong.
Gran entrevista Ola, que sujetos más simpáticos! Buen trabajo
Really enjoy seeing Munky and Head’s harmony and respect for each other 🤘🏻🙏🏻🔥
This is amazing! I love these guys!
dude, im so happy for you. moments like this are so cool; watching your heroes meet their heroes and feeling their excitement and energy. its such a palpable feeling because i know ill feel the exact same way if i ever got to sit down and have a conversation with you
That is an awesome interview.
Awesome stuff Ola. I discovered your channel a few weeks back and I love your personality, sense of humour and your knowledge 🤘
very happy for you that you got to meet some of your musical idols and that they took time to answer your questions. If been a Korn Fan since LIP and my FTL just hooked me. They are such a great live band and already saw them a couple of times in Munich. Will it chug was a great moment. Cheers and remember this day as long as you can - surely is / was priceless.
Love Korn!! First heard a cassette of the first album and was hooked. Kinda drifted away when head left, but love that they are still crushing it. They have some of the most sick chord structures and melodies of any band.
Your interview with the limited time was amazing. It was great to hear them discuss their growth as musicians and the ability to harness the dark in there music and step away in their personal lives. Great interview Ola!!!
Man this took me back to my teen years too. They’re as great live now as 20 years ago. So great.
Very cool interview with Korn Ola they Rock I love Korn
I'm so happy for you to get to do this! I would love to meet them! They released their first album when I was about 10 and it started my love for metal. No matter what Korn will always be one of my favorite bands and I'm grateful that they are still creating amazing music. Congrats, this was really cool!
They played a huge role in my musical development also, amazing band still pushing it with the new album
I love how in the end you go "I played with Six Feet Under" "ohh" "And I also joined The Haunted" "OHHH, THAT'S AMAZING!" man those dudes are so likeable.
Super stoked you got to interview people that were huge for you as a young musician. I would have been shaking with nerves the whole time if I got to do that!
Amazing interview for just 10 minutes. Congrats Ola! Head and Munky are absolute lords of Chug
Love every interview I’d seen of these 2. They’re always so knowledgeable about guitars
Such chill dudes. I love this so much!
Great video 🤘🏽 Korn has been one of my favorite bands since I was a kid. I’m glad they are still making music.
Relevant, intelligent questions answered by some amazing musicians that really seem to be in a great headspace. This is one of the best interviews I've seen.
Hell yeah from New England...I saw Korn in 1995 in Tucson Arizona when they were touring their first album...In those days nobody was doing what Head and Monkey were doing on 7 string...I also saw them at Woodstock 99 and they slayed it...thx Ola for this awesome vid .. Peace from the Northeast...
475,000 bodies were @Woodstock '99 - their biggest ever audience.
Seeing how relaxed they are and how well they interact with each other is inspiring.
Dude!! What an awesome experience, I feel so happy seeing you achieving this king of things, talking with so many legends and people that means so much to you (and me as well) keep it up man, you are a true inspiration, as I said, it makes me really happy. Big cheers!!
These two are legends and so are you for making this video, Ola!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Excellent interview! Thank you! Best KoRn interview ever! Head’s shirt = priceless!
🤘😎🤘
Really cool video! Nice interview! I really liked the other video showing the gear! Cool stuff!
Loved Korn when I was younger... well still do now. They have stood the test of time by having their own unique sound. Nobody sounds like them.
What an amazing interview, these guys are so nice!
Just amazing!!!!! What an awesome interview!!! Great job.
Great little interview man, really natural and honest. It's nice to see a true fan excited to meet their idols!
Love these guys and great interview 👍
This interview really helped. Like Ola, I loved Korn as a teenager and got a lot from them, but I quit playing music at 30 (I'm a vocalist and guitarist) - now almost 10 years later I want to play music again but, well, I'm not as angry or shouty as I once was. So the idea of channelling that darkness into creativity without having to dwell and live in it, that has really inspired me. Cheers Ola!
You should experiment with electronic music.
Great interview. Such nice guys
My all time favorite!! They have helped me through so much. Thank you and thank you Ola
I seen them live in 2020 and they were great live!!!
such a good interview and im blown away by how humble these guys are. same boat as you, they're my childhood heroes and can imagine it being a bit risky to meet your idols going behind the scenes but these guys did not disappoint, what amazing people!
In this time for me and my life I have grown to fear when I am uninspired to play and move forward in music, and I have seen your videos around but it wasn't until like this last week that I have really genuinely enjoyed watching your videos. I am never going to quit or anything and I don't know where life is going to take me but your content has become fuel for me. I just want to thank you and of course korn because, I mean come on.. but seriously thank you and can't wait to watch more of your stuff whether it be past or future I know I'll look forward to it because I love melting faces.
As a diehard KoRn fan since 94' I have to say I LOVED this interview! Head and Munky are awesome! My ONLY nit-pick if I had to gripe about something? The interview wasn't long enough! lol. Seriously though, I enjoyed it. Good stuff, Ola!
Просто великолепно
Спасибо за это интервью!!!
Korn was my first introduction to Metal 15 or so years ago, around the age of 5 or 6. Got really into metal about two years ago, and got to see Korn in March. Not only the best show I’ve been too (Chevelle killed it too) but the whole event really brought everything full circle and it was very cathartic. Can’t wait to keep going to their shows 🤘
I could listen to these three nerd out over guitars and bands for hours. Great interview.
So cool to see these guys just hanging out, enjoying life, and absolutely crushing it live. Great interview Ola.
That "Will. It. Chug!" Made me smile
Even though I’m not a Korn fan, this is one of the best interviews ever IMHO. Awesome Ola. Well done dude.
I was lucky enough to do a show with them back in 09 @ halos and horns festival. Some of the nicest down to earth guys ever. @Ola Englund, Glad to got to meet and have sometime with your idols!!! Awesome video!!
bro it's the best interview that I've seen lately. These guys are so cool. Legends.
It's amazing how chill and centered those guys are now. Bless them, they were tweaking out *hard* in their younger years. It could've gone really bad but it didn't, and that's awesome. They still sound like a f?!king bulldozer live.
i was seriously floored by how heavy they sounded live the last time they came thru
Korn as been my fav band sense middle school! This is super sick!! I found Ola in 2020 when I came across random through this will it chug vid sense then I been hooked! It’s really more then amazing to see my three favorite guitarist! You all three inspire me so much!
Great interview... wish it was longer. 3 awesome guitarists in one room!
Awesome interview!! Love Korn. Grew up listening to them back in the daaayyyy!
Wow ola thats was so awesome you are so blessed to sit with the godfathers of downtuned heavy metal they are the pioneers of the genre imo wow thank you for sharing this video. Btw they really seem chill and down to earth. Freaking awesome man keep up the good work. Long live the chug!
I haven’t really followed Korn in a long time, but I always try to watch as much Ola vids as I can to stay current. I loved the way they cheered at your news of joining the Haunted. That was genuine wholesome content. 😎👌
I love it how relaxed they are Talking to you Ola. Awesome.
These guys are absolute legends! Thanks for sharing this Ola 🙌
Quality content right here 🔥👍 They seem to like The Haunted there at the end. Love it!
Praise Ola for this interview. such a gem
Amazing Ola! I love this so much. Thank you brother. 😊
Great interview! They really sound like the music vets they are. The last bit was cool when they were impressed that you play for The Haunted.
I'm quite surprised they don't know your channel! I love Korn man! Their sound is so recognizable and I love their last album too, feels like coming back to the roots
Hey Ola, this was golden. Made me smile the whole time. Thank you!!
I haven't gotten a 7 string but Korn were one of the main reasons I started playing guitar.
Love this guys. Korn got me into metal and I still get excited every time they release a new album. Glad to know Jonathan is doing well too.
I met Monkey outside a club for the Life is Peachy tour, Australia 1997 or 1998. He was chill then and it's good to see he is just now wise and chill.
He'll need to change his name to Monk soon.
So happy for these guys and all the mainstream success they’ve had - they deserve it
So suprised and shocked you manage to talk to them! KoRn is one of THIS band for me too. They first albums ('til Issues) were for me the base ground for music I listen and play and they keep inspiring me. Cool interview! WILL-IT-CHUG!!
These dudes are awesome. Loved them since I was a teen as well. I love Duran Duran as well.
Man, you made the most of that 10minutes! Great interview!! You can tell that the guys were really cool and appreciated where you come from as well. Well done, Ola!!
Love seeing these guys in a good place!
Being from Bakersfield I remember hearing them for the first time when I was a kid and being blown away.
There was a local over the air T.V. station that was like pay-per-view music videos, and I pretty much kept my t.v. tuned to it all day hoping to hear some good new music I'd never heard before.
One day I saw A.D.I.D.A.S. and was awestruck. After that they were getting pretty much constant play, and took off nation/world wide.
Couldn't have happened to nicer dudes 💚
This was my first Metal concert I went to. It was cool to see both you and Korn on stage
Such an awesome interview man. All of you are great.
Literally was screaming like a little girl at their Knoxville concert. Few months back. Will always have the memory of a Girl I had a crush on in middle school knew I liked her so she gave me a korn cd. Didn't even know who they were before her. To this day I still rock and love Korn. She and korn changed my life forever.
My understanding is that this George Lynch fella was from Dokken 😄🤘
Still remember the first time i grabbed an acustic guitar on a trip and tried to play by ear falling away from me, i was so happy in the end of the trip to have learned the first 5 or 10seconds in about 2h 😅 amazing interview, got me alot of good memories and truly happyness to see Ola interview 2 amazing guitars 🤘🤘keep thr amazing work man, big hug from Portugal 🇵🇹
Being able to tap into certain emotions to get inspired but not get stuck there is a wonderful thing. Nice talk :)
