My first guess is "There's no way the Japanese would be suicidal enough to pick a fight with the US" or even "The Japanese just kind of keep doing their own thing, not caring about the nonsense those silly Hakujin out west are getting up to"
@@mikaelleonbriones6356 not really. The biggest problem is that Willy wasn't exactly used to being Kaiser, remember he was expected to literally drop dead when he came to power. As time went on, he would probably mellow out or pick one of his sons as a successor. The funny thing was, many people forget that he actually tried to stop WW1 from escalating to the war that we now know. He was in a catch 22 situation where the Serbs (and, to be honest, the Serbs DID assassinate the crown prince of Austria-Hungry and his wife in a fit of nationalism, and that is something that can't have a precedent of ignorance so-to-speak) but he didn't want to be the one that caused the war. If you want to actually blame people for the war, blame the Serbs AND the French, for they pretty much caused a series of events to ensure that WW1 happened.

Socialism was never meant to take over from pre-industrialized feudal societies like Russia or China, it was intended to be a refutation of industrialized capitalist (liberal) societies.
i feel like once nukes are used everyone would start desiring peace out of fear. especially when its nations who haven't experienced a major war in over 100 years.

I have an idea, “What if Austria-Hungary and Germany had switched fates regarding the Treaty of Versailles?” I find it interesting because of how much could likely change.
Honestly i don't want to sound as a nazi, which is hard given that my opinion on this regard has something to do with one of the arguments of holocaust deniers, but anyways, i think that the immigration of rich people in general (mostly jews but also left-wing and people from some minor ethnicities) to the USA due to the regime of terror that the III reich was obviously gonna be meant a lot for the growth of the united states. And i base my point in the fact that, if you look at the numbers (not the ones that exagerate the numbers of the holocaust as if it wasn't bad enough to kill 4 million people) a lot of the jews that were part of the high society of germany did manage to scape with their possessions.
At the end, what i mean by this is, no, the USA was no one before WW2, and if it wasn't for the nazis the chain of events that leaded to the rise of the USA wouldn't have happened. The fact that the USA is seen today by those who are objective as a nation of immigrants has a lot to do with the fact that its prosperity was linked with those who went there fleeing from terror, who worked as both cheap labor and diligent entrepreneurs, paying the taxes of the country and investing on its debt, creating, at the end of the day, what the usa is nowadays.

Could you do an alternate history where Annie Oakley accidentally kills Kaiser Wilhelm II after a failed gun show? This would kill Wilhelm almost 20 years before WWI and the ramifications might be interesting.

I’m pretty disappointed tbh. All he did was focus on the world through a Germans eyes, he barely talked about the development of the colonies in Africa, the Rise of Japan (which would happen no matter what goes on in Europe), or the Asian colonies.
There's a reason why their theme in Civ 6 is a sad song about a lot of bad things happening. They share that with China, which kind of gives some context to shared similarities in their backstories.

Well, at least in my country, the Russian theater of that war is always referred to as "Napoleon's invasion of Russia" and not "War of 1812", that is more of an anglo-american nomenclature.
I just found out about Tunguska, the meteor that landed in Russia in 1908. Had its angle been slightly different it would have hit St. Petersburg with the force of 50+ Atomic Bombs. It's be really interesting to think how that would have impacted the future of Europe and the World through the 20th Century.
Everybody forgets about Bulgaria. We literally made the war longer for atleast 1 or 2 years and helped Austria-Hungary destroy Serbia and Romania and still everyone forgets us

I feel like the major assumption in this scenario is the continued war in the east. As you mentioned it Britain and France were afraid of a powerful Germany, so they wouldn't want Germany to win a war against Russia. So what if France proposes a different peace settlement, one or two french colonies for Germany ending all hostilities, including in the east. Not simply a ceasefire on the western front, but an end to the entire war.

that would open up very interesting possibilities especially if he were still kaiser come 1914. the german empire may have seen some democratic reforms by then. or another alternate timeline: what if the revolutionists from 1849 had won and Germany became a unified modern parliamentary democracy by 1850 with the kaiser just a figurehead with no real political power?
Fascinating timeline Cody! As you point out, this inevitably leads to “WWI in the 1940’s, when nukes and likely early jets were developed”. The civilian loses could be as bad as those during our WWII. That said, any world where the NSDP and Bolsheviks don’t gain power is probably good. And a world where the horrors of atomic weaponry are seen first hand by hundreds of millions likely ensures they’re never used again as tools of war. I could almost see an international push to ban the weapon. Or a situation where the only nukes were in the hands of the United Nations - to be used against any country that tries to develop nukes on their own. That would keep the world a lot safer.

I have an interesting idea for an alternate history you might want to do one day. What if the Templar knights never ended? What if they survived on to the modern day? Would they have a place in normal military? Would they slowly be taken down in our modern age? Would there still be people signing up to join? Speaking as you had to be a knight or nobleman to join the Templars would you have to have previously been in the military in order to join? would it still have the thoughts of taking Jerusalem or would it just dedicate its time to protecting a country or the holy church? I think this would be fairly interesting. If you can tell by my username...
I loved the video! It just left me with some food for thought.. It may be missing on the fact that WWI / WWII really accelerated our cognitive revolution. (World) Wars were great drivers of economic success and on the development of global trade networks :)
I would expect russia to lose all of the Baltic states Because of the Baltic Germans population I could also see Austria Hungary gaining Volyn and a bit more of western ukraine to merge with Lviv.
Alternatively Kaiser (since he is winning) could consider continue the war to win the real prize (or rather few prizes) Access to the iron/coal of Donbas Caspian oil Black soil. I.e. What in our timeline Hitler wanted to secure the nazis power from potential Naval blockade.
@@Poctyk Oil is less of a deal with the Ottomans owning most of the middle easts rather than the british. Coal and Iron I mean germany has enough of that in the rhine. Grain would be the main thing which Poland and the baltic states can do that. Before you say naval blockaid would lose acess to ottoman oil they built a rail to prevent that IRL its just WW1 prevented it from finishing it would continue post war in this timeline.

I wish that this was the real timeline for three reasons 1.) My Great Great Uncle wouldn't have died in the final Canadian push in the Battle of Passchendaele 2.) The city of Berlin Ontario wouldn't have been bullied and pressured into changing it's name to Kitchener to show its Patriotism (the name change happened in 1916). My family lives in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. 3.) The Kaiserreich Germany would still exist (at least a bit longer). Also I read the Battle of Dorking. It was mainly written by a British officer using the fear of a German invasion to inspire Britain to reform and modernize it's army. Lastily after the German surrender in WW1 Britain and France did play with the idea of "turning the clock back to 1815" setting the borders in Germany to the small disunified nations that it was after Napoleon.

And i base my point in the fact that, if you look at the numbers (not the ones that exagerate the numbers of the holocaust as if it wasn't bad enough to kill 4 million people) a lot of the jews that were part of the high society of germany did manage to scape with their possessions.
At the end, what i mean by this is, no, the USA was no one before WW2, and if it wasn't for the nazis the chain of events that leaded to the rise of the USA wouldn't have happened. The fact that the USA is seen today by those who are objective as a nation of immigrants has a lot to do with the fact that its prosperity was linked with those who went there fleeing from terror, who worked as both cheap labor and diligent entrepreneurs, paying the taxes of the country and investing on its debt, creating, at the end of the day, what the usa is nowadays.

Last time I was this early, the German Empire was still a major power.
I just found out about Tunguska, the meteor that landed in Russia in 1908. Had its angle been slightly different it would have hit St. Petersburg with the force of 50+ Atomic Bombs.
It's be really interesting to think how that would have impacted the future of Europe and the World through the 20th Century.
Everybody forgets about Bulgaria. We literally made the war longer for atleast 1 or 2 years and helped Austria-Hungary destroy Serbia and Romania and still everyone forgets us

I feel like the major assumption in this scenario is the continued war in the east. As you mentioned it Britain and France were afraid of a powerful Germany, so they wouldn't want Germany to win a war against Russia. So what if France proposes a different peace settlement, one or two french colonies for Germany ending all hostilities, including in the east. Not simply a ceasefire on the western front, but an end to the entire war.

Fascinating timeline Cody! As you point out, this inevitably leads to “WWI in the 1940’s, when nukes and likely early jets were developed”. The civilian loses could be as bad as those during our WWII. That said, any world where the NSDP and Bolsheviks don’t gain power is probably good. And a world where the horrors of atomic weaponry are seen first hand by hundreds of millions likely ensures they’re never used again as tools of war. I could almost see an international push to ban the weapon. Or a situation where the only nukes were in the hands of the United Nations - to be used against any country that tries to develop nukes on their own. That would keep the world a lot safer.

I have an interesting idea for an alternate history you might want to do one day. What if the Templar knights never ended? What if they survived on to the modern day? Would they have a place in normal military? Would they slowly be taken down in our modern age? Would there still be people signing up to join? Speaking as you had to be a knight or nobleman to join the Templars would you have to have previously been in the military in order to join? would it still have the thoughts of taking Jerusalem or would it just dedicate its time to protecting a country or the holy church? I think this would be fairly interesting. If you can tell by my username...

It'd be really interesting to see your thoughts on what a Russian state with economic and political democracy would be like, given that would seriously alter the nature of the USSR and perhaps the cold war more generally.

I wish that this was the real timeline for three reasons
1.) My Great Great Uncle wouldn't have died in the final Canadian push in the Battle of Passchendaele
2.) The city of Berlin Ontario wouldn't have been bullied and pressured into changing it's name to Kitchener to show its Patriotism (the name change happened in 1916). My family lives in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
3.) The Kaiserreich Germany would still exist (at least a bit longer).
Also I read the Battle of Dorking. It was mainly written by a British officer using the fear of a German invasion to inspire Britain to reform and modernize it's army.
Lastily after the German surrender in WW1 Britain and France did play with the idea of "turning the clock back to 1815" setting the borders in Germany to the small disunified nations that it was after Napoleon.
