Honestly considering the end of this video, I think a history of the move Pursuit would be a good idea. The move was certainly meta defining, and as seen in this video some mons usage was entirely centered around it. It would also be good to show the "aftermath" of its removal as well.

I mean, prior to gen 4 the strongest pursuit was blackglasses Houndoom, which was a pretty specialized choice. That all changed when Ttar got to run Pursuit off its massive attack stat, as not only is it more powerful, but it's far more versatile than Houndoom will ever be.
Pursuit was a necessary move that kept the borderline overpowered Ghost-type in check. With its removal... well... Ghost is a dominant type in every tier except for maybe NU. Calyrex-S, Dragapult, Aegislash, and Jellicent dominate their tiers, and Spectrier had to be banned because Pursuit was removed. If Pursuit still existed, Spectrier would still probably be OU.

A major mistake in the Gen 8 section. Skuntank was actually available since Sword/Shield first came out. Hell, I remember you bringing it up at one point during the Haunter video late in 2020 (and merely a week after the Crown Tundra came out).

It's really good in Pokémon GO too. Balanced stats, only 1 weakness, resists Razor leaf, Resists confusion, and does well against Charm users too. Plus Sludge bomb does a broken amount of damage, and it could whip put Flame thrower for steel types thus it almost never is truly walled.
This video honestly surprised me, because I really never thought of Pursuit as a very important move. I understood that for previous generations (1 - 4) it was a very useful to deal with Ghost/Psychic Mons. But I'm going to be honest, i have never used or seen used Pursuit in serious competitive play. Maybe it's my problem or i don't use many Ghost types, but for me it always seemed a dead slot of a move. You are in any case preparing for the OFF CHANCE that you may encounter another Pokemon that you could Pursuit Trap in the field, where usually against a smart player, they would NEVER allow that situation to come about. However, this video opened my eyes on how Pursuit is a valuable move in the lower tiers and what it can do when the right combination. Still glad that they took it out of the game, but it makes me respect the move more.

As soon as how well Pursuit suited Skuntank, I anticipated the sudden drop by Gen 8. For that matter, I started to think how it would benefit if Skutank's hidden ability (currently Keen Eye) was updated to Stake Out. I never have used nor seen the ability in use, so I just assume that has some parallels with Pursuit.
Skuntank lost its utility so if we were to fix that id swap the attack stats, increase the defenses to 75 at least, increase hp to 100 and grant skuntank some type coverage. This would at least make skuntank somewhat of a special attacking tank

I remember Jupiters skunktank sweeping my team with night slash. A Graveler was really the best counter to it. High defense and packed magnitude. Skunktanks only weakness was ground in gen 4.
i remember as a kid being super confused to this things and drapions typing because it’s only has 1 weakness and i didn’t have a ground move when i first fought them.
Its great to see a Pokemon like Skuntank get this much consistent success in a specific niche and yet still have the versatility to pull off entirely different sets based around its opposing coverage. As much as I hate the move, it is sad to see Skuntank finally slip from viability, but the fact that weather abilities outside of Hail are allowed in PU is pretty insane.
Skuntank is an example of how all those nerfs designed around OU drips it's way down to the lower tiers. Explosion and Pursuit nerfs may be years apart, and Skuntank could still be good if only one of them is in effect, but with both of them he just gets relegated to the junk pile. I am curious though if Kellen would like to make a series or at least an episode of anything goes: what would the metagame look like now if Mega Evolutions, Z-Moves and Dynamanax are allowed a la Poké Showdown. Maybe Skuntank wouldn't be as bad if he can still use Z-Moves in Generation 8.
I seriously didn't expect this early game nightmare to be such a great low tier Pokemon in every gen up until now. Losing Pursuit may have heavily crippled it but give it a few new moves, it will be a great low tier once again. Grass Knot, Parting Shot, Knock off, and Swords Dance would give it a way to play however it wanted. Nasty plot grass knot sets would obliterate even the mighty Gigalith and Sword Dance knock off/crunch sets stomp Cresellia and other defensive psychic/ghost types. For those who wanted to use heavy duty boots and utility, parting shot would be the way to go.
While we all clamour for "How SUS was Amoonguss ACTUALLY?", I want to take a moment and ask for Johto's stragglers. Ursaring (although we might as well wait for Ursaluna), Mantine, Stantler (might as well wait for Wyrdeer), Girafarig, they all should have been covered by now.

Drapion does have slightly better stats than Skuntank though still shares the same weakness to ground types. But players are able to acquire a Skuntank slightly sooner than Drapion, level 36 for the dark/poison skunk Pokémon vs level 40 for the dark/poison scorpion Pokémon.
Hey, anyone want to help vouch me? If you encounter Skunktank or Stunky in the Battle Hall in HGSS or in other games with the Battle Hall, a reminder. *If they carry Aftermath and you activate it, the Damage strip out activates BEFORE Shell Bell recovery.* Haven't tested Leftovers on this. Maybe also Drain Punch as well? Haven't tested it yet either. Drain Punch doesn't ever seem to get learned by those I actually WANT to learn it. These Skunks can end your streak early if your on the more frail side by the end of the fight. Yet another layer of obnoxiousness from the Battle Frontier.
I think Pursuit should come back but always stay 40 Base Power even if opponent switches. That way it's more for chip damage over just straight killing Ghost and Psychic types.
I really feel like Poison as a whole is so underrated. Its a great defensive type, only 2 weaknesses, pairs great with alot of types (Dark (especially Dark), Bug, Grass, Fairy, Ground, etc.) and their Toxics can never miss though offensively its garbage
statement only applies from gen 4 onwards. before physical special split, pratically no poison type used its stab and it hurts more than it helps defensively. early gen gengar without a psychic or earthquake weakness would be amazing
