- James Milton Johnson IV (aka Milton) is sharing his side of the story! Following "Love Is Blind" Season 5 reunion, Milton and Lydia Velez Gonzalez opened up about their experience being on the show and explained why they are currently in a long-distance marriage. The two also shared their thoughts on Uche Okoroha missing the reunion and Milton accused him of faking receipts that allegedly showed Milton expressing concern ahead of his wedding to Lydia. "He's had two years almost to plan for these receipts. And I noticed he posted one about me claiming that I had asked him for advice and I addressed concerns to him. And I was like, 'Wow, how narcissistic could you be?' And he had posted a group shot that he had edited and did such a poor job. It showed a group chat where he blacked out the name to make it seem like I had called him three days before my wedding day, which was not accurate at all, not even close … My only question is why are you continuing to try to insert yourself into my relationship with my wife like it's been almost two years. Like, let that chapter be done. We're no longer concerned with you, and we just really want to live our happy lives," Milton explained to Access Hollywood.

Now Lydia …. You definitely playing victim when it comes to Aaliyah. YOU did her wrong and dirty and that’s the story stop trying to switch it up. The least you should do is take accountability for your actions and UNDERSTAND Aaliyah reasoning as to why she feels a certain way about you and move on.
Did you watch Aaliyah's recent interview with Jessie woo? Cause it seems that what she says contradicts what you're saying here. Aaliyah wanted leave before she found out about Lydia and Uche, because of Uche's behavior with her.

I agree. Unfortunately, people have a tendency believe in absolutes. People believe that you have to pick a side. There was a lot of editing. I think production pushed people and tried to control the narrative.

@GMAMEC Agreed!!! Aaliyah made the best choice in my opinion. That was all too messy. I don't ever wish anyone bad. As a married woman myself, I really hope their marriage works out but I would not be surprised if a few years down the line they divorce and Milton comes out spilling all the tea. Ofcourse he's going to defend his wife at the moment as he should but if you know you know. Nothing is always as it seems.

Aaliyah has nothing to do with the editing of the show. Whatever scenes are shown first or auto order it’s above her pay grade. She didn’t frame any perception of you in anyway. I think you owe her apology for your statement and the way you behaved on the show. I’m not sure if this channel is deleting my comments or not, but I’m gonna say what I have to say. Lydia is suspect. She is conniving, a fake friend, and a creep. A real friend would have issued an apology for disrespecting someone’s boundaries. You and Uche’s presence already compromised the integrity of the experiment, but you took it a step further by intruding in Aaliyah’s experience. Milton refuses to see past the red flag, but he himself is a walking red flag, so it makes sense. Lydia is desperate and was willing to marry anyone, including Uche. LIB was just a game to her

for people saying milton shouldn’t have defended her, it’s one thing to hold your wife accountable IN PRIVATE and another to do so in public. i will always hold people accountable in private and encourage them to hold themselves accountable in public as well directly to anyone they hurt. however, i will still have their back and defend them where i can. unless what they did was so egregious and wrong that i can’t even associate myself with them. i don’t find that what lydia did was that. yes she disrespected and crossed aliyah’s boundaries. i do think she needs to directly say “i am sorry”. however, she was in a very difficult and strange situation.
i also think she’s very easily misunderstood and not given the benefit of doubt. aaliyah herself had said that even tho her boundaries were crossed in the moment she is glad that she was told the things she was. lydia never lied to her unlike uche. additionally she was literally forced to lie by production. that wasn’t her choice. her type of personality probably made it so hard to keep it in. i don’t know if she specifically targeted aaliyah because of uche. we don’t know the timeline of when aaliyah made her connection with him vs when her and lydia became friends. it’s also been told by other cast members that they are close with her. stacy was close with her and had said that johnnie was also one of her closest friends on the show. we are only shown her friendship with aaliyah but she was likely close with others as well and it was only made more complicated by her being uche’s ex. it would have been equally strange to be kind and befriend everyone while specifically avoiding aaliyah. but it wouldn’t have made for good television.
aaliyah also has said that she had tried to leave the show twice before. one of which was after the cheating conversation she had with uche which predated everything with lydia. i don’t blame her for wanting to leave but people act like lydia was the only reason she had to go and that was simply not the case. there is literally no reason to paint lydia as the villain in this situation. she was a flawed human being who was in a weird and difficult situation with a lot of grey area and she didn’t handle it great but who’s to say any of us would’ve handled it better? i do think that now she should say a simple i’m sorry in public. but again aaliyah literally has said that she has already forgiven her and is ultimately glad she was told the things she was. so can we all calm the fuck down?
I wish Lydia was held accountable in manipulation of the process but I doubt she ever will as one half of the only surviving couple of LIB 5. I wish them well as a couple.
There is nothing for her to be held accountable for, Aaliyah should've dumped Uche long before Lydia, from the recent cheater discussion. Lydia had it worse on LIB, got dumped twice and had an ex trashing her to the whole cast, yet she focused on what she wanted and moved forward.

I saw in a video that Milton had a girlfriend when he started LIB, and they continued to talk thru his engagement! Allegedly Lidia had to tell his ex gf to back off. ALLEGEDLY! There we also so many things that were not cleared up at the reunion. Especially with the Lidia-Uche saga.
I am team Milton and Lydia because they have moved on and are making their marriage work. Their connection was only one I had hopes and prayers for from the beginning. They are good for each other. I pray God continues to bless and keep them as one always.

I love Lydia and Milton together. I think they both made a great choice. Milton will always have that loyal appreciative woman in Lydia and Lydia has a strong respect and love for Milton because he is kind and and a great provider. As far as Aaliyah.... That girl dodged a bullet with Uche and should thank her lucky stars she didnt get mixed up with him anymore then she did. Lydia and Uche did ruin the experience for Aaliyah with all this mess, and on top of that they invalidated her feelings, but I also think that Aaliyah didn't know when to get out of this. After rewatching that clip, Uche actually does say “Is this a sign?” first and Lydia was just piggybacking off that comment when she asked if they should start from zero. Uche began to suggest the idea, but Lydia just said it before he could get it out.
I do think maybe Lydia knew he auditioned for the show and she applied in hopes to be on there with him. But she would’ve had to be in cahoots with production to guarantee they would be on there together. Unless there’s actual proof she did that, or production knew this before filming, then this really all coincidence and everyone is blowing this way out of proportion to make her a scapegoat.

Why does Lydia look like she has been crying?
It’s highly likely that Uche and Lydia had a situationship sort of like a fwb before the show. It’s common for men to downplay these situations and for women to make them more important than they really are. Uche was sincere in trying to warn Milton about Lydia’s past. You can take a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

Aaliyah also said to stop blaming Lydia. I don't think everyone except Milton handled any of this well at all and the only bad person here is Uche.

Yea I noticed that Milton said Uche continued to pry during the pods although he had made it clear he did not want to disclose details about him and Lydia’s conversations and he thought that was strange but was unable to recognize that Lydia did the exact same thing to Aaliyah. The way that production, this couple, & the Ladummies completely disregarded & gaslit Aaliyah is insane. Lydia Jr. had hardly any accountability placed on her & it’s just another version of how these dating shows treat black women.
I'm not a fan of Uche at all. That being said, I'll always be fair. It isn't fair for Lydia and Milton to paint a narrative that he's still thinking about their relationship. Facts from Milton - he stated Uche's last contact was after their wedding. They were filming on a show. Since filming Uche (from milton's own mouth) hasn't tried to contact them. Now Uche is responding, but he's responding stemming from the show finally being aired. This is totally normal not only for Love is Blind, but ALL reality shows. You can argue over the detailed context, but if Uche hasn't spoken of you guys since filming wrapped and hes now responding after the reunion aired that he was not at, that does not meet the qualification of focusing on your relationship. He's answering questions fans want to know just as they did in this interview and other interviews. Again, NOT a fan of Uche at all, but fair is fair.

Lydia is a classic manipulator. I couldn’t put my finger on it before but she is clever as heck and always knows the perfect things to say to get people to do what she wants. If someone sees through it, they become her enemy. Passive sweet people like Milton and Aaliyah can easily be taken advantage of without realizing it’s happening. When is Aaliyah going to take accountability for herself and her actions. Aaliyah brought all the pain and poor show experience on herself because she had low self esteem. That’s it and that’s all! Sliding down a wall crying over what a guy said to her about a past relationship who she didn’t even know a week prior. Give me a break! And after her knowing that HE lied and it wasn’t an old relationship with Lydia but he slept with Lydia 3 months prior she was begging UCHE to still be with her. Her experience was all on her because she did not have to continue to pursue Uche for ultimately more rejection. Honestly she should apologize to herself for not loving herself enough to see obvious red flags in how this man treated her. SHE lacked boundaries, and the ability to truly express and hold to whatever boundaries she may have had. Hope she did the work on herself she needed cause glaring at Lydia throughout the reunion isn’t it! Especially since in the end Uche didn’t even want her. How tragic.

Yes and no. Lydia and Uche created a situation that was uncomfortable for everyone but I agree that Aaliyah didn't know when to get out of it.

She continued to cry and pursue this man after the pods until she finally got a clue that he didn’t like her. No one else on the show was uncomfortable with that situation. Not even Uche. Just her because she lacked boundaries but liked to use that buzz word. Milton/James was clear and direct about his boundaries so there was no discomfort and he was able to focus on the task at hand.

Do Uche handle every situation in a hostile way. He tried to get Milton to break up with Lydia at the after-party. Milton was not going to side with him obviously. He tried to recap his past relationship with Lydia: That seemed silly. Was he trying to keep her on a string knowing that she may respond by trying to prove herself to him (but she's too secure with Milton to give that to Uche again). Uche does not seem to know how to move on.
He was hostile to Aaliyah when she tried to just give into him and date him after the show. He would ruin the reputations of Lydia and Aaliyah if he could. Milton and Lydia seems to be still standing strong and would like to forget about Uche.

They hate on Lydia because she did everything right in terms of the dating process. Both Uche and Aaliyah were victims of their own stupidity and immaturity. It wasn’t on Lydia to tell Aaliyah anything nor was it Aaliyah’s business on who Lydia was dating/sleeping with so Lydia told her out of curtesy. Lydia is not from the states so the boundary issue seem to be lost on her because of that I feel. Some Americans need to understand that the world doesn’t revolve around them and Lydia is from Puerto Rico so while she has American Citizenship the culture is different. I believe she tried her best to navigate the hand she was dealt in that show. Lydia didn’t cheat on anyone nor lie about what transpired between her and Uche. I think Aaliyah has tried her best as well as Uche to paint Lydia as the ultimate villain when in actuality, both her and Uche are admitted cheaters yet they want to present Lydia as a liar and themselves as honest people. Aaliyah couldn’t and still can’t handle being played by Uche and is bitter about Lydia having been with Uche and still coming out on top in terms of her relationship. As far as Uche he knows damn well he still wants Lydia on some level that’s why he went as far as to try to destroy her relationship.
