As an immortal player, the new player draft system feels absolutely horrible. While most reasons why this feels horrible does not apply to cs2, there is 1 very important thing that will need to be fixed in both games and that is the fact that a party of multiple people can be drafted into different teams, allowing one of the sides to intentionally throw the match to boost their other party members.
I always had a feeling the CS:GO ranking system is complex and a bit more fair as opposed to the very black-and-white ELO system that everyone really wants, so I'm glad to see they're trying to combine the complexity and factors of Glicko-2 and the transparency of ELO, hopefully also for CS2. 🌮
I fundamentally dislike the idea of "rank confidence" because it inherently punishes you for playing more OR playing less. If I take a break from the game I drop an entire rank pool and have to climb out from the trenches, but if I play too much the game gets too confident in my rank and I can go on a 10 game win streak and not rank up. The idea of "consistency" in the system is also inherently flawed, because there should be no reason the game cares if I play every day and win 1 game per day over 10 days or win 10 straight in one session. I've played this game for a decade and love it to death, but the ranking system is just garbage.
@Clux I agree. There's already too damn much rank confidence. I dropped from le down to mge because I was global when I quit and the game thought I should be LE when I returned after the cs2 hype. So I dip down because I suck nowadays and I leveled out at mge. Kept alternating, win, loss, win, loss etc. Then I went on about a 15 game win streak (with a loss and one tie) because I've got some of my aim coming back. I ranked up to dmg after that super long win streak. Then it took 4 wins to get to LE again. Really awful system already. If they go more in that direction, I'm upset.
Fair ? You know what you are talking about ? In CSGO I literally rank up each game from MGE to Global despite I wasn't even top frag and even rank up in a game which had only 7 kill. Literally I ranked up 4 ladder in 5 game.....So it's fair ? Meanwhile I had same experience in wingman mode where in my alter I rank up in every game and another even 10 in a row not good enough to rank up. It's the most bizzare system which needs to be fixed and transparent....Faceit elo which you called black and white is much better and fair...
@@hobosnake1 idk man everything you just said sounds like a ranking system that works exactly as intended, i'm not even sure what you're mad about, it gave you a rank it thought would be fair given your past performance, quickly adapted to your skill at the time, then ranked you up again when your skill came back... what's the issue here ?

I've played Source since its peak and CS:GO since its beta/release. I think the biggest issue with CS:GO matchmaking is cheaters in general - the Overwatch system was effective but its easily exploitable - not to mention the sheer number of cheats that can bypass VAC. The other issue is rank disparity, which is now more widespread than ever. Their "rank adjustment" update made ranks like Global/Supreme quite easy to obtain (along with all other ranks). Globals and Supremes now are roughly around the level of MG2/DMG - I got Supreme starting from LE after winning just 4 games (rank up after each win). Obviously cheaters are an issue you can't instant fix but I hope the situation improves. As for the ranking system, I hope they refactor it and come up with a better system.
Since they added a paywall for playing prime, the amount of cheaters decreased noticeable. In my experience I don't see any cheaters anymore than like in earlier times, where in every 5 game there was a guy, who went into beyblade mode. Can someone explain why 30% confidence should be the threshold? I work in data analytics, and 30% confidence level is not an acceptable level in any statistical analysis model. It leaves 70% chance that the results are incorrect or misleading and unreliable and erroneous. If this is what they are implementing for the new MM, then I rather keep the old system.
Because you have to give the player a rank at some point, and you don't want to wait 200 games to do it. You'd rather just give them a rank at 30% and then keep refining it after the fact. Rank is inherently meaningless from an analytical standpoint anyway. It's just UX.
The vast majority of things are the same or sometimes even worse on 128 tick, like nades. The one thing 128tick is great for, and it is a big thing dont get me wrong, is hit reg. If the sub tick system fixes the hit reg side of things everything else is irrelevant.
The rank confidence system has always been a thing. I have noticed with 100% confidence (pun intended) that it takes way less effort to rank up on my smurf than on my main. You need to win way more games on your main to rank up to the same rank (e.g. LE to LEM) than you do on your smurf with much fewer games played. That's because when the system is 100% confident you deserve to be LE, it will not budge even if you win like several games in a row. If the system isn't confident, it will give you the rank up quickly. The rank system is so complicated in CSGO, I don't think Valve understands how it works as well, xD. When I used to queue only Agency with a 5 man team, I realised it was impossible to rank up beyond LEM even though I won over 50 games in a row as top frag most of the time, probably because the opponents were silver to MG max. The conventional wisdom is that you need to win games in a row cuz the system rewards win streaks, but I guess it isn't that simple.
Your lying that you’ve won 50 games and didn’t rank up. I don’t know what you convinced yourself happened, but that definitely did not. It is impossible to not rank up from 50 straight wins in CS. This is just not a real story.
@@shcaboose i think it can Happen. I Was global in wingman 4 Times and have 80%+ winrate sometimes even 90%+ on All of my Main maps. If i play with a friend 2-3 ranks lower i can also win 20+ games without an uprank. Just to get downrank after 1 loss sometimes 😂

So now most gold nova players get silver and most silve players get gold nova or higher, nice, fdinally gold nova isnt the easiest rank to play in anymore
i played quakelive 2009-2012 and i got to tier4 skill in like a couple months because i was lucky enough to play with people that had been playing the game since the 90s, and there was this guy called Visje who was a very good player and was rank #1 in ELO and i remember inviting him to a high tier 2v2 match and he couldn't perform as good as me even though i was ranked much lower because i choose to play vs much better people. what i am trying to say is rank systems are overrated! what CS2 really needs is a proper 5vs5 premade system that doesn't have hidden ranks or any of that nonsense just let people play vs good players or noobs alike. oke, maybe have 3 different tiers.. but not some silly rank system like ELO. back in the mIRC days we would look for LOW MID or HIGH 5v5 matches i think i forget it was super long ago, but we never had some dogsh*** ELO system. look up Visje quakelive his frag video's were pretty good back then and he looks really strong but it's very deceiving how good someone can look even if they're "ranked1". Crazy how people used to call him a cheater, but then he would call people that were actually better than him cheaters lmao..There's always someone better than you don't let your ego control your emotions. there was 1 person i know hacked though his name was RaveStyle i even think he made it to Dota2 pro level or maybe i am confusing him with some other guy with a similar name.
I have long suspected that the CS:GO ranking system is intricate and somewhat more equitable compared to the overly simplistic ELO system that most people desire. Therefore, I am pleased to learn that they are attempting to merge the intricacy and variables of Glicko-2 with the clarity of ELO, and I hope this will also apply to CS2.
@hello ELO was never meant to determine team efforts. There's no system out there that's good for determining the skill of an individual in ever-changing teams. It's a battle that literally can't be won. It's an unsolvable problem. Glicko or ELO doesn't matter, it will always be kind of terrible. The question is if something like Glicko brings enough to the table to be worth its intricacies, or if it's just better to go with a very transparent system like ELO. Third-party services use ELO, and it works just as well as matchmaking ranks. I think the entire concept of SBMM is bullshit in many ways, to be honest.
Damn, this is a pretty cool insight into matchmaking, that rank confidence thing really opens up the more complex system to be understood by players better. 🌮

@@gabe.follower but an in-game roles tutorial would be pretty sick. Would make the game more enjoyable on lower ranks i think.
@@DebasedAnon that would be cool. I dont like the fact that valorant forces you to play like x for the entirety of the game. Ofc thats inheritant for Hero-style games, but it's what keeps me from playing valo. If you have a bad player on x agent, you can't easily say "hey let me take over that spot/role"
i recognized that gorgc clip you used :D
3 times in a row
Glick put me in silver 1 and I have spent the last couple of weeks having to get back to DMG 🌮 and its been putting me in games with supremes totes fair system. 10/10
If Valve wants to compete with Faceit they'll need to add 128 tick servers
128 ticks is no longer needed to know the exact trigger time in CS2, sub ticks carry this information with a precision greater than 128 tick.
The vast majority of things are the same or sometimes even worse on 128 tick, like nades.
The one thing 128tick is great for, and it is a big thing dont get me wrong, is hit reg. If the sub tick system fixes the hit reg side of things everything else is irrelevant.
it was announced that the game will become tickless which is better than 128 ticks. there will be no delay at all
@@nice7517hat’s just them coping. “Tickles” isn’t possible. So far it’s still 64 tick with better connection
@Timayy Tickless is possible lol. Modern games rely on frames and their deltatimes...
Dota 2 devs are so good I'm so jealous
First! thanks for the leaks bro! amazing content 🌮🌮
First time csgo has a matchmaking system
Good job!!
I get around 30 kills per game but with a team that is toxic and deranking Q yeah it dosn't matter if I don't W... SoloQ now it's really anyoning
that would be a very interesting update to the rank system. tyvm man 🌮
even if they chance the MM and fix it. there will still be the issue of people purposly derank to smurf and be an asshole in lower ranks
@@McChumChum I have the same experience in wingman, but even then, this is still completely different than winning 50 straight. like let's be real, i dont go more than 5 games without a cheater usually.
thanks for all the info as always 🌮
Great video as always! Best comment ever "how well Gabe ate today" :D 🌮
Gabe eating good every day
Studied CS more than the english language, had to use subtitles.
He's fluent, Its an accent, something thats vastly harder to "fix" than "learning the language", the vast majority of native english speakers never learn any language to the point they dont have a noticeable accent...
i love ur videos men, thank u for making english version 🙏
Lets go i been for this for years and I mean YEARS!
one of the best csgo channel, beside 3kliksphilip
Hey Guys, i want to create a Map in Source 2 for CS2, what is the best approach?
I have Alyx and i am using the Source 2 SDK, but the are some Things missing, like Bomb Spots and Spawnpoints for CT and T Side.
so they are changing now nice 🌮
I do think that rank system itself is pretty good in cs but the matchmaking itself is bad. Like half of the matches are full of smurfs, even at relatively higher ranks
5:41 this thing is already in csgo if you take a 1 or 2 week break u will rankup or derank easier
all i care about is that they do something about all the cheaters in cs go, dear god is it so bad any more, its like atleast 1 ever 3 matches...
tyvm bro
hope they release open beta after paris major🤩
i dont think so but i hope they will release open beta soon, also it is close to summer
what a gorgeous thumbnail!
So now most gold nova players get silver and most silve players get gold nova or higher, nice, fdinally gold nova isnt the easiest rank to play in anymore
thank u Gabe for this video, nice work as always!
Dang it! Now everybody is going to know how speractic my wins and losses are once cs2 comp ranks start showing 😂❤

So no tf2 update?
00:14 dis small tree pen de door two weeks ago drightd dafdr dududududu
i played quakelive 2009-2012 and i got to tier4 skill in like a couple months because i was lucky enough to play with people that had been playing the game since the 90s, and there was this guy called Visje who was a very good player and was rank #1 in ELO and i remember inviting him to a high tier 2v2 match and he couldn't perform as good as me even though i was ranked much lower because i choose to play vs much better people. what i am trying to say is rank systems are overrated! what CS2 really needs is a proper 5vs5 premade system that doesn't have hidden ranks or any of that nonsense just let people play vs good players or noobs alike. oke, maybe have 3 different tiers.. but not some silly rank system like ELO. back in the mIRC days we would look for LOW MID or HIGH 5v5 matches i think i forget it was super long ago, but we never had some dogsh*** ELO system. look up Visje quakelive his frag video's were pretty good back then and he looks really strong but it's very deceiving how good someone can look even if they're "ranked1".
ALGO GIVE THIS LOVE
🌮 can't wait
I was starving for new content, thanks for the video🌮
voice is kinda hard to hear rushi
Hope Gaben has a good personal cook 🌮🌮
All of these changes sound awesome! 🌮
the truth is the mm system everyone wants is faceit 😂
They want us to have bad time with ranking systeme, so we keep playing,
🌮 cant wait to play cs2
🌮 take this KING!
Does your name happen to be Dimitri?
It's Maxim actually
I think the entire concept of SBMM is bullshit in many ways, to be honest.
taco
Elo isn't capitalized as ELO, it's someone's last name: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system "It is named after its creator Arpad Elo..."
Thank for the info!
thanks mr food eater.
😎
Why every Dota update is like E3? 🌮
i love tacos, actually my favorite food 🌮🌮🌮
bro: 🌮
Damn, this is a pretty cool insight into matchmaking, that rank confidence thing really opens up the more complex system to be understood by players better. 🌮
