i am a year late but i just wanted to let you know that i laughed
trying to expand disc sports a little...this is a great thing for Ultimate players to do in the off season

Brodie, if you like how Avery Jenkins teaches disc golf, I highly recommend the discmania series "Deep in the Game." It's concise, sensible, and very well done.
i'm a avid disc golfer who struggle throwing ultimate discs. I still can't get used to the size and depth of the ultimate discs. I can throw golf discs with pretty good power and accuracy but can only throw ultimate discs with very little power.
grip is much different for me when using both discs.
I would advice starting with just a putter (Aviar, Rhyno, Challenger, Wizard, etc.) , then when you can throw that accurately 200 feet, move on to a midrange (Roc, Buzz, Warship, Shark, etc.). When you can throw a midrange accurately 300 feet, get yourself an understable driver (Leopard, Roadrunner, Sidewinder, Avenger SS, etc.).
Moving up progressively like this will be the very fastest way to learn and ensure you can throw each type of disc with full power and accuracy.
do you drive backhand or forehand? go to an eagle if your having trouble with accuracy. beast isnt bad as well but as a little bit bigger of a lip on it like a boss or a wraith. eagles and valkyries may help
Are you talking about a forehand or flick shot? Thats just another disc golf throw to get the disc to fade the opposite direction.

That's normal. It always takes me a little time to readjust my grips and release angles when I've been throwing one type for a while. I believe (I haven't paid too much attention to this when I throw) that an Ultimate disc takes a bit more effort to get a decent amount of spin as opposed to a disc golf disc.
there are many types of discs just like there are clubs in ball golf. They all do different things whether they are low profile and heavy rimmed to allow for long distance or thick and flat for putting.
it can get as technical as golf. love me some disc golf!
Can someone direct me to the video where he throws 3 drives? It's like a wraith, a destroyer and something else. He throws at a far away creek, nearly crossing it with third drive.
Whats a good beginner disk really thinking about changing up sports I want to pursue and like this a lot. I want a good disk but for a good price any website links or stores to visit would be awesome! Thanks keep up the good work!!! :)
silly Q.. since frisbees r called 'discs' more and more.. is there any way u differentiate between the 2? or r they just called either an 'Ultimate Disc', or a 'Disc Golf Disc'..?
I dont disagree with this video, but I throw the disc completely different and get much more distance, I throw it the opposite way, with my right arm coming from the right side of my body and to the front, so it goes around the outside, rather than the inside, it takes practice but works very well, and can be effectively used for both ultimate and disc golf. Just a suggestion.

I feel like a lot of people's problems with power is where they place their plant foot on release. I had my buddy start going diagonally across the box on his drives because he would place his foot straight out in front on his drives and had zero help from torquing his hips. It really helped him out to understand the motion the entire body requires to send real bombs. He's added 150ft to his drives this summer so far, I'm pretty proud of him.
They're all discs. some are used for Ultimate, some for Disc Golf. Disc Golf discs are often referred to by their brand specific names and weights... ie... "Dude, was that your Wraith?" "no dude, I threw that in the lake on #4, that was my Star Trex"... or something lame like that.
But how far did it go?
Playing Ultimate and Disc Golf will only help you become better at both. Disc golf will help you learn power and technique as well as how to read the wind and throw multiple angles/lines. Ultimate will help with your disc speed control and touch forehand throws. They are different games, but are all part of the "disc sports" family.
The grip is correct but you also want to make sure you snap the wrist during the throw! The quicker you can get the disk to spin while in the air the further it will go!
SurfingKook i mean sure theres a small snap but u do not want to curl the wrist and snap it. U need to keep your wrist extended

I am a backhand thrower and I can throw about 350'-400' but I have trouble with keeping my disc level and not dying down to the sides. It's hard to find advice for backhand throwers.
+Ozzys29 the guy in this video is throwing backhand. He is also right handed so his style is known as RHBH , Right Hand Back Hand. Most instruction videos are made for backhand throwers. If you reach your arm across your body that is backhand. If your arm stays on one side when you throw that would be a forehand. The dynamics are different from forehand to backhand and different discs should be used.

The two different forms require two different discs. Also the keeping it level is slightly more difficult throwing forehand. All players need some ability to throw either way so it's time to learn backhand. As long as your'e having fun it's all good.

That's a silly thing to say. I play disc golf exclusively but when I pick up a lid I can huck further than the people I know that play ultimate, and more accurately. Don't have that lid forehand down yet though ^_^
I throw farther forehand than backhand is this normal?
I have the power needed, i just suck at accuracy. Not sure if its me or the disc. I have the Beast and Champion Orc driver discs.......any suggestions?

throwing a disc golf disc and a ultimate disc are COMPLETELY different. Different discs have different attributes and stabilities. Trust me, disc golf can really mess with your ultimate throw.
I love all the people here telling a world champ, who is using the form that every other high level pro uses, that the form sucks.
Why did I even watch this, I dont ever throw a disk. Last time i did it, it was on a Wii

He might be able to throw a disc far but he's not very good at teaching people to throw a disc far.
did not film the flight cause he worm burned it lmao.i see way to many players gorilla grip into the woods with four finger grip.they hang on to it to much.i throw with two finger relax grip.you can hear the snap of my fingers.i can throw the best disc you can ever rely on...the blowfly putter 250"+ accurately shot a -16 with just the blowfly all 18 holes on a course called D & D in maine.not pro par thou...a 51.i will always go with accurate game play over power throw every time.

some are.but i can eagle 500-600 footers with the blowfly putter at times & i capitalize on shorter holes to get two's then hope i do not screw up to much on the longer holes.i play very tactical with the blowfly.drivers go a lot further but damn you hit a tree & it bounces deep in the woods.blowfly hits a tree & it just flubs on the ground in the fairway still giving you a chance to still do well.

no.i might have known him possibly if they make disc golf an actual sport.instead of the only money you win depends on how many players showed up.i played pro myself.but the pay outs are dirt & i got tired of waiting for the GAAAMMMEEE to actualy go some where.only player i heard of is ken klimo.i can throw 54 & lower.but why get good in a failing game.i played pro about 15yrs ago when the fight to make the game a legit sport was going on.just started back up last year & still not a legit high paying sport with possible sponsors.cause i know at the time i would have done fairly decent just not top pro tier.out of 100 pro players i would rate low around# 80-100.but i was decent at placing 7th-2nd & some times 1st.good enough to pull decent payouts if was a sport.
