Oh wow, you sure talk a lot and this is a pretty good and detailed review. I did some research on M16 and have mixed feelings about it, which I mostly agree with you. M16 has a great screen, design, and quality everywhere. But, as a gaming laptop, the performance is not quite on point for the price. It's more for creators who still want to game sometimes.
Exactly why I bought it. As an engineer I wanted something I could mix music on for a few years and game on secondly. Been running 2 separate 970m/1060 laptops for last 2 years so I decided it was time and thought this was perfect for creating and gaming on some titles that I enjoy - not what everyone else is playing. I wanna play Kenshi without frame rate issues.
Great review. I do find it strange that Asus paired the i9 with the 3060. I have ordered it with the 3070, which is available in the UK, so I would expect to get performance that's on par with the G15. I will take your advice on the extended warranty, for sure.

About the heat on the screen : As i know its ips led screen and led screens can handle around 85 degrees of heat without any problems . I saw benchmarsk and tests which showd me around 55 degrees on heavy load on screen. So it cant be harmful
Well, it might be true, but you need to think about a time the screen is going to be expose for that amount of heat. Maybe if you are not heavy using this laptop often , its not an issue, but if you are going to play on it everyday, the lifespan of the screen might be reduced.
Great review! I'm thinking of ordering the i7 - RTX 3050 TI variant because it is within my budget. I am a web developer and I do some light gaming, I am wondering, would coding on this laptop or using photo/video editors cause the fan noise to be too loud? I've always used silent Lenovo Thinkbooks so far. I'm also afraid of the hot air blowing into the screen. Appreciate any advice.
I don't believe coding would take as much resources as trying to game on this machine. I guess it depends on what you're coding and, oh, I have no experience in coding (except on a TRS80 way back when...lol). Fan noise can get up there though because that i9 is very powerful and get's hot when under a load. If ASUS is the manufacturer you're going with, I'd go with the G15, to be safe, as at least it has a chin in the area where the hot air blows. I did a review of that one also.
I didn't have a laptop before since like 2010....so a much much much needed upgrade lol. And for less than $1,400 after taxes, shipping, and a 3 year protection plan included, I figured I might as well get this. Would have been nicer if it was 16gb of ram with a open SO-DIMM slot instead of being 8gb on board + 8gb in the SO-DIMM slot to make up 16gb.....but w.e. We can't always get everything we want lol.
Depends on your game settings. There's only so much you can squeeze out of a 3060 so it doesn't matter what the max refresh rate of the monitor, it'll be the graphics card and your settings as biggest factors.
hows the screen doing to this day tho due to heat? i planned to get one for gaming, but if that screen starts to turn colors, ima have to bop heads at asus
I got this laptop too but its a better version and I totally agreed on the keyboard part it's not bad but def not the best and the charging input is really like that I hate that it's in the middle bc when im gaming it affect me and even when im watching video and putting it on my lap it's not comfortable. As for the heating part ROG said it's confirmed that the heat will not damage the screen but I guess I'll just have to find out myself. If you're going for a hardcore gaming laptop this is def not the best option but if you are a creator but also play some light games sometimes then I recommend it. If you're going for a heavy creator only laptop then just buy mac.

I’d choose the G14. It’s the cheapest and the performance and portability is just right for your needs. It’s the lower powered of the 3 because of the 3060, so battery life is great (for a gaming laptop) and temps shouldn’t be as high as the other two from my experience with each; but that’s depending on the games you play and your settings for those games. Once you start fiddling around with Armory Crate, you can squeeze extra battery life out of it.
Disclaimer: I always recommend what “I” would buy and not what you should buy. I like to stay neutral when it comes to people making major purchases with their hard earned cash.
@@ProTechShawn Thanks for the suggestion!! There were things I liked and disliked for each and I had a really hard time choosing betwene those, so it's still good to know what someone who has more experience with different laptops would choose.

If i need a laptop for heavy gaming and long term would it better buy this laptop and egpu since it has thunderbolt, or buy a bit expensive laptop with better gpu and no thunderbolt?
Since we're talking about "long term", I'd just get a desktop. The advantage of having an egpu is only going to last so long until you would need to upgrade the processor to keep up with the egpu. It may not matter to games that are gpu heavy, but there are some games that are cpu heavy. With a desktop you can upgrade pretty much everything inside. Additionally, the prices of GPU's, in the scalper market since there are scarce right now, are almost the cost of another laptop. So, to wrap it up, I personally have a main desktop for heavy gaming (Alienware Aurora R10) , and a smaller, cheaper, lower powered laptop (ASUS G14), to hold me over when I'm on the go. Sounds expensive, but the cost of both were $2800 which would be cheaper than buying the M16 ($1850), a egpu enclosure (~$300-$500), and a GPU (at least $800-1000 on the cheap end for an RTX 3060). Oh, and the G15 is the better buy if you have to have a laptop.

I’d always choose a build over a laptop if the costs are about the same and being portable is not important. More power and if built correctly, temps and fans are basically an after though. Cooler and quieter in comparison.
Hello good evening Please I want asking you about gaming laptop help me choose 1 lenovo Legion 5 2 hp omen 3 msi 4 asus 5 acer nitro 5 6 acer Predator Helios 300 thanks very much God bless you
My god if you game a lot and care about frames DO NOT get this laptop. I’m a year and a half in and I had a huge issue with thermal throttling because the laptop rides the 86c limit. In game performance is pretty much a 2060 super (desktop, my friend has one) and that’s only for the first 30 mins because when the laptop hits high load longer the frames tank! To give an example I have been running rainbow six benchmarks for the past 2 hours out of frustration and after cleaning the fans. My very first test I got exactly 300 fps (low graphics) 5 test later I’m sitting at 231 with 4.4 ms gpu response time. On a cooling pad btw. On ultra 1080 you can expect below 200 in R6!!. It is 110% bullshit and I REALLY regret spending 1800+ on it. Please get something worth your money if your mostly a gamer.
True as I have both but I’m not comparing the GPUs, I’m comparing them at the current price point, where the L5P is either the same price or only $100 more.

@@paulklimenko8419 thanks. But is it better to use intel i7 for architecture work? I looked from a benchmark rating site, that the i7 11800h is better than the 5900hs
G14 all day. Cheaper. Lighter and more portable. Better graphics card. Longer battery life. Add your own webcam with the money saved and you’re good to go.
No problem. If you pay more than $1250-1300, you paid too much. They are known to drop randomly from $1500 down to $1250. Even after you purchase you can hit up the store to return the price difference if they price match.
Alienware M15R4, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD and a 3080 (mainly to drive that OLED screen and external monitors). I purchased it for “cheap” on the Dell Outlet site. Saved about $600. I also have an Alienware Aurora R10 Ryzen Edition, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD and one 3070.
M16 obviously is not for pure gaming. It's more of a hybrid for visual work + gaming. Get the G15 if you are leaning more towards gaming, and get the M16 if you are leaning more towards working. For pure gaming get the Strix series, higher power limit on the GPU, better cooling, and more important better RGB for better FPS.
Haven’t had the Legion 7 yet. Tried to order and there is a 2 month wait…..I’ll pass for now. But if it performs better than the Legion 5 Pro, it would be superior.

What do you think of the M16 i7 11800h 3060 vs g15 r9 5900hs 3060? in my region they have exactly the same price and it suits my budget. Should i get the m16 ?
@@Messi10billy i would go for the M16 just purely on how good it looks
The G15 has a max brightness of 300 nits as opposed to the m16 which has 500 nits of brightness
I have this laptop and the fans are pretty loud and gets damn hot. Return it and build a desktop?
I’d always choose a build over a laptop if the costs are about the same and being portable is not important. More power and if built correctly, temps and fans are basically an after though. Cooler and quieter in comparison.
How tf u get WiFi on this thing?! I have this thing and this is on windows 11! I need a Ethernet cable just to get WiFi!
Hello good evening
Please I want asking you about gaming laptop help me choose 1 lenovo Legion 5 2 hp omen 3 msi 4 asus 5 acer nitro 5 6 acer Predator Helios 300 thanks very much God bless you
waiting for the alienware x series review...
Have Finger print ???
What do you think of 3050ti variant of m16?
I’d rather have the G14. I’m sure the performance would be better with 6GB of VRAM instead of 4 which I believe the 3050ti has.
It is because the TDP of GPU only max to 95W, compare to Legion 5P rtx3070, 145W
True as I have both but I’m not comparing the GPUs, I’m comparing them at the current price point, where the L5P is either the same price or only $100 more.
overall, do you like it more than the G15?
I don’t. I like gaming with a mid to high frame rate and near max settings. This doesn’t do it for me.

@@Messi10billy i think the g15 ryzen 9 should be more powerful than i7, plus the g15 has better battery life
@@paulklimenko8419 thanks. But is it better to use intel i7 for architecture work? I looked from a benchmark rating site, that the i7 11800h is better than the 5900hs
Easy fix peel the stickers off I did looks better they come right off
Which would you recommend the m16 with the 3050 ti or the g14 with the 2060. Looking at these for gaming and school use.
G14 all day. Cheaper. Lighter and more portable. Better graphics card. Longer battery life. Add your own webcam with the money saved and you’re good to go.
@@ProTechShawn Thanks for the help! I was having trouble with deciding seeing the better screen on the m16.
The screen is better but it won’t be able to perform how it should with a weak graphics card. Like a Lamborghini with a Chevy engine.
@@ProTechShawn Haha thank you for helping me decide!
No problem. If you pay more than $1250-1300, you paid too much. They are known to drop randomly from $1500 down to $1250. Even after you purchase you can hit up the store to return the price difference if they price match.
So rog 15.6 or 14?
So what laptop do u use then??
Alienware M15R4, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD and a 3080 (mainly to drive that OLED screen and external monitors). I purchased it for “cheap” on the Dell Outlet site. Saved about $600.
I also have an Alienware Aurora R10 Ryzen Edition, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD and one 3070.
This or blade 14 3070
5:18 XD
M16 obviously is not for pure gaming. It's more of a hybrid for visual work + gaming. Get the G15 if you are leaning more towards gaming, and get the M16 if you are leaning more towards working. For pure gaming get the Strix series, higher power limit on the GPU, better cooling, and more important better RGB for better FPS.
I do agree with you, I think they shouldn’t have labeled it as a ROG machine; but instead put it in one of their creator series laptop categories.
Strange NotGaming laptop with a Gaming RTX Graphics Card...
„Every laptop has fans“… apple macbook air laughs in fanless
I have one. I wouldn’t consider that a “gaming laptop”.
3060 for a 1440p screen is too little.
Fully agree.
how about legion 7?
Haven’t had the Legion 7 yet. Tried to order and there is a 2 month wait…..I’ll pass for now. But if it performs better than the Legion 5 Pro, it would be superior.
G15 or M16?
G15
Starting to think you only like to buy laptops with 500 nits 😂🤣
Love bright screens. I'll probably be in glasses in a couple of years...lol.
😂😂😂 Same here man! I want them to eventually come out with 1k nits on laptops by the time I need to upgrade or at least 500 on almost every gaming laptop. 🔥🔥🔥
i know gaming laptops usually sacrifice stuff to be affordable but damn...asus literally sarcificed the GPU in a gaming laptop
But there is a 3070 version too, right?
@@user-wd2ek3oj1h probably
There is a 3070 version
WTF a Zephyrus with a webcam?!?!
I’m just as shocked as you. Lol.
garbage!!! go get the 2021 hp omen 15 with the rtx 3070, way better value. asus has a lot of quality control issues.
