There's been quite a few guys fishing for carp on my local lake lately and doing really well. Great to watch and seriously looking into getting into it for next summer as it's not too long now over. So won't be catching of the top by the time i buy all the rod reel and other bits. I've been wanting to try it for a while now so thanks to you two deffo going to do it. I caught cat fish on the fly rod the same manner, used squirmy worm suspended under a thing-a-ma-bobber. I like your idea of a deer hair dog food piece gonna tie some up for my next opportunity. Living in Australia I usually use bread , berley up with bread then put some on a hook and catch them , wondering guys if you tried that and used a white fly , not sure if it would easier though , just a thought.
This is why i test everything at home.. flies, ground bait, dog food , floaters etc etc
we won't be making that mistake again!

lovely summer session, i fancied a bit of carp on the dries this summer but my canal is far too overgrown i had to use conventional tackle. got one to 9.5lb though so i cant complain super pretty clear water low stock wildies too

Of on the off chance that you do ever end up with sinking biscuits, what you can do is crush them up in a bucket and mix them with mucilin or any other liquid fly flotant, it works fine.

Really want to have a go at this... been watching a few carp fly vids lately. As you say, my club stream is getting a bit low and slow now, and I fished for nearly 4 hours last night and only caught (3 nice brownies) in the last half hour after sunset. You said your kit was light... what weight rod and what kind of tippet did you use, please? I've emailed a couple of local carp fisheries to ask if they allow fly but they don't seem that keen, so need to look a bit harder. Great vid again!

We were only fishing light here - 5# rods for smaller fish. The tippet was 8lb mono straight through, nice and simple!
I find it best to just turn up to a water and do it, they're less likely to turn away the cash in your hand!
