Stumbled onto this video and it's one of the best I've seen! Very detailed and informative without being long-winded. Great instruction all around...thanks!
Really liked this. It's just "regular guy" fly fishing.... that can be done in many places near where I live, especially in summer when trout fishing is slow. Thanks so much for this video!
The G-Loomis IMX-PRO 6 wt comes with a fighting butt. I've been looking for a 6 wt and I'm leaning towards this one. Most of the carp in my home waters are in the 8 pound range and I think a 6 wt would be ideal. A few smallmouth as well. Thanks for the video, on my way to check out he website now.
An old friend of mine that past, was always in pursuit of carp on fly, and was known to catch huge ones on his flies. Sparked my interest to pursue them thanks for video
Hi I fish for carp in the UK, on the fly. Really liked this video. Sensible info, both for beginners and reminding the advanced fishermen what they do automatically. Loved your enthusiasm for the sport, and please would you do a video recipe for these carp flies! (I understand that you probably work as well!!) But, I look forward to these being tied. Tight lines David

The Fly Guy Thanks for your reply. Concentrate on your studies obviously, and don’t turn your hobby and leisure in to a chore. Fishing is obviously a “time out” for you. The recipe videos shall be all the better for waiting for when you have time to do it justice. Tight lines Fly Guy Regards Dave
Where in OH have you fished for Carp? I've found a spillway branch near me that has hundreds of HUGE carp (not sure on species). 2-3ft minimum. I only had a 5wt and flow was too much (was trying to swing for pike). going to go back with some better weighted flies and a larger rod.
Realy good video mate and informative. I also chase carp and other species on fly on my channel, Although in newzeanad and Australia it’s almost frowned upon lol! “Dirty carp” Like and Subscribed keep it up man
The Fly Guy yeah the grass is always greener... well browner in Ozzie. Lol. Good fishing to be had in both nz and Australia. I’m in nz now so all my latest vids are from nz. But heading back to au next year so more carp and Australia specific species
AdriftByNature In Oz carp are declared a noxious species. Any carp caught must be killed and may not be returned to the water. This is because of the damage they do to our delicate, water deprived environment and the way they out compete our native fish species. That said, they are great fun on a fly rod.
I dont get how you can see it take your fly, and only rely on that. I'm new to fly fishing this year, and thats very frustrating to me. Even with a streamer, I never felt a trout bite and just got lucky he stayed on. Went for Carp today and just barely see their shapes/ shadows, never mind their mouth lol.
Started fly fishing at 14 hooked myself in the face and stopped for a while just started up again and it’s so much funner then regular fishing the fish fight so much harder on the fly rod
Also, do not rule out 9wt and 10wt. Large fish in current will thrash you on an 8. I have been spooled many times on a 10. Just stick with a standard wf line for presentation.
I fished chum salmon on a 6wt, and yeah the current is where they get you, but I fish frog water , and if I get a good hook set I can get them landed without getting them to reel. I've had this guy stop with his buddies, and nudge one and say this guy's using a 6wt. But I'm looking at a 7/8 , I feel much heavier pulls the hooks
I noticed that you wear natural subdued colors and camo. I do this also, Carp can see bright colors and will notice something out of the ordinary....they will just fade away.....
I actually was hooked up and he went where I pulled till I went to net it...then the fight was on. Never realized it was hooked cuz I blended in so well....lol

Caught my first carp last night (and on the fly)... that was crazy, first fish to take me to the reel... even made my reel scream a little.
What an awesome and informative video! I'm trying for carp Thursday and I feel like I am better equipped after watching! Thanks dude!
Thank you! You are welcome!
Catch and Release carp fishing. The world is changing.
Always a good Idee to hold de Fish half'n hour outside the water for the speach to the camera
That was the A-Z of carp fishn..... Nice techniques and good looking jigs..... Nice catches and Stay At'um.....

Very helpful video! I'm getting a 7 weight soon and I can't wait to try it out on some carp.

@@theflyguytfgflies people dont know they are a game fish. Not big fighters but all muscle.
Hey fly guy, what about winter tactics, do they stay deeper in rivers and do you ever see them tailing, or is it more blind fishing,

얕은 곳에 나와 있는 잉어를 보니 심장이 두근두근합니다..ㅎㅎ

Great video.
Hey sir, is it possible to do this in the winter at Utah lake?
Were you using the Okuma reel in this that you have in your description box? Never thought about Okuma for fly reels.
I have never caught one on the fly but I hope to this year
This is how I love to catch carp on my fly rods. Up close and personal basically high stick bumping.

@@theflyguytfgflies thanks for your input! much appreciated. do you have an Instagram? i'd love to follow you, you can find me @harveyheath94
i have a question do you like Orvis products? or have you used them before?
Can this also work with suckers?
I use a 6/7 9 ft. and have never been into my backing, 2 piece leader, 30" 24 lb 20 " of 14 lb, and 16" 10 lb tippet, nothing expensive or elaborate
Exactly! You never have to spend a lot to get out and fly fish for carp even other species. Tons of options out there!
Beautiful video but I did not understood how you cast for carp😊
I will do more videos on this topic specifically!
foarte frumos,multumim
