Hi great video can you please tell me where the fishery is my reason for asking is here in West Yorkshire coarse fisheries frown on people with fly rods always finding ways to say NO 🥶
Great Video! Full of enthusiasm and some useful tips for beginners especially the floatant bit. I’ve been doing this for about three years now, haven’t had the need to pick up a float rod since!! Great bend in the rod aswell, is it glass fibre? I’ve recently got me a glassy, 7wt. Awesome bend makes landing a treat. I also like the way you showed the bit where the carp shy’s from the net; leaving you thinking it’s going to run. (It’s a stink when it happens, you think you’re going to break off!!!) Like the idea you’re fishing naturals as well. That’s a real buzz and a feather in the cap. I’m going to enjoy watching this channel. It’s not easy putting these video’s together either, takes time and effort, but I can assure you it’s appreciated. Tight lines David
Thanks for watching and giving great feedback Dave!!! Yep once you start fly fishing it’s a lot more rewarding with any fish you catch! It’s not glass rod they look awsome always wanted to try one! Hope you enjoy the other videos I’m just making them for a bit of fun nothing too serious and learning as I go along with videography and editing all good and your right it only counts on the fly 😜 tight lines mate 🎣🎣🎣👌🏻
Looks great sport, how do you get them in so quick ? I have hooked into some big grassies here in Kansas and they run me all over the lake, tried the dog biscuit chum on some commons but they were tuned into grubbing on the bottom
Hi Thomas thanks for watching 👌🏻 the best way to play carp is to literally bend that rod and bully them in otherwise they will take you to the backing! And with carp as soon as you get that head up you can drag them in it’s a technique used in match fishing! Over here the carp are used to surface baits when it warms they feed off the top is it commonly done over there? I see people sight fishing with bugs for them? May be if you have a local to keep pre baiting them with surface baits may be your answer 🙏🏻
Go watch "carp on the fly" channel. You dont need to chum, that's cheating and takes all the fun out of it. The best chance you have to catch them is when they are mudding on the bottom and sight fishing to them. The fastest way to wear them out is to try to run your line laterally to their body and swap from side to side and pull hard to change their direction and disorient them. Rod isn't as important as the reel, dont cheap out on it, get something with good SMOOTH drag and a lot of backing capacity like a sage spectrum LT or nautilus. Some will run hard pretty deep into your backing and you dont want something tiny like a hardy reel unless your carp are under 6-8lb range and in stagnant water. We have carp here in Montana that would melt that hardy drag or cheap reel after a run or 2.
Terrific fun , bugger the snobs . Chum and they will come 😅
Haha thanks Barry love this comment 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
