I really enjoyed this video. I clicked on it because I was trying to learn how to propagate succulents from leaves, it’s a new thing that I started as a hobby in the plants have made me happy. But I would like to say that the positivity you included at the end really made my day. I need to hear these words. Thank you for that extra message, I feel really good after watching this. Hi, Lauren! Thank you so much for the kind words. It’s heart-warming to hear that the positive message in my video made your day. I try to touch as many lives as possible in my own little way. We all can help make this world a better place, especially nowadays. You made my day...really early, too, as I’m responding to your comment at 4:20am. 😅 Huge apologies for the late response. I am willing to learn, more so as a newbie about succulents, and so I am watching tips and wise advice from those who have gone this road ahead of me. I am perhaps years senior than my mentors, but I love to learn still and be wiser.
That is so nice to hear, Lolita! It’s never too late. Every single day with these succulents is time well spent. Hi Sheila! Thank you for your bright and informative video 😊 I've got quite a few Echeverias propagating - you can get heaps of plants from each leaf 🍃. You are an inspiration for everyone. Bye
So true! 👌Thank you for the support, as always, Trevor! I know I keep saying it, but I would still say it again😆...I really appreciate your comment! ❤️🙏🌈

Thank you for this video, Sheila. Very informative. I’ve just become a succulent parent over the past month. And enjoying the journey. As for my statement, “I am an ambassador for Jesus Christ, so I want to state there’s no other Saviour of the world but Jesus! He’s all we need, so come to Him and experience His unfailing love.”
Hi Diana! That’s an awesome self-talk! My apologies for the late response. I hope those who are waiting for a response from me will read this, too. Just recently, I made a decision to respond to newer comments. I have been trying to respond to older comments first, hoping to catch up. But I haven’t been successful. So instead of trying to do that (‘cause now, I’m a full year behind) I’ll start responding from newest to oldest. Thank you so much for the comment. I really appreciate it. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
Hi ! I am from the Philippines and i'm new to collecting and growing succulents and cacti and your video really enlightened me as to how to properly take care of my plants. Thank you for such informative videos ! :D
@@SucculentFame no worries! I aspire to have beautiful succulents like you do and I'm currently trying to propagate succulents exactly like this. Hoping for the best! 🙏
I have a feeling you can do it! Stay positive around them and keep smiling. They sense it, since they are living beings after all. Happy Planting! Best wishes to you! Thank you so much again! ❤️😃
Thank you, Cherie! Huge apologies for the late response. I’ve been incredibly busy. I’m really hoping to find time to make more videos soon. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Hello Dawn, that works, too. And yes, it’s true. If you mist far too often, it can be bad for them. As long as they are not showing signs of dehydration, misting is not even necessary. I only do it when temps are too high. Thank you for the comment. My apologies for the late response. I’ve been so busy. 😅 Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫

Hi! I'm new to your channel and from the Philippines, i love the way you talk, it can easily follow and understand, keep on inspiring and sharing your knowledge about succulents. Don't you have cactus? God Bless!
Hi Rina, thank you so much. Welcome to my channel. That is so nice to hear. I was born there. 😃 I only have a few cacti. 😃 I’m still gathering the courage to start handling the very prickly ones. 🤣😆 I have the not so prickly cactus right now. I would love to have a Barrel Cactus and a Paddle Cactus someday soon. I just need to buy very thick gloves for it. I’m not a fan of thick gloves that’s why I’m always using surgical gloves. I still want to keep my tactile senses and dexterity with handling succulents, that’s why I use the thinnest gloves. 🤣😆 Do you have a lot of cacti? I would see a lot of really lovely succulents in photos from the Philippines. I really would love to come and go back there for a visit. Not in the near future though, but someday. 😃God bless you, too! Thank you so much for leaving your comment. I really appreciate it. ❤️🙏🌈
Hi, Sarah! Thank you for sharing that great self-talk. I really hope that everyone will learn from all the great self-talks that people have been sharing here. Thank you so much again! I really appreciate your comment. ❤️☺️🌈
I'm new to propagating succulents. I am happy I found you. My question is when laying down a curvy leaf either in a box or soil, does it matter if the 2 ends face up or should they face down into the soil? Thank you.
They still will sprout regardless of orientation. I have seen leaves grow roots and pups even if they are all piled up. 😃 Thank you for asking this question. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
Hi! Only on extremely hot days. It can go as high as upper 90’s here in Brentwood. Those are the days when I really need to mist. This is regardless of whether they have roots or not. Great video thanks a million. I Picked up a lot of good techniques thank you for that. By the way do you have a video about propagating succulent based on stem cuttings not leave cuttings that I can watch. Thks.

Hi Fran! At first, it feels like it’s taking forever and then, once they start sprouting, it gets joyfully overwhelming! 🤣😆 ‘Cause then, one will realize that there aren’t enough pots to replant them in. Hahaha Best of luck always! Thank you so much for your support by leaving a comment. I really, really appreciate it! ❤️🙏🌈
excellent video! now im freaking bc i havent been misting them!!! ahhh!!! i have them on dry soil.....also i have a succulent that had two baby rosettes but my son knocked it over and broke the stem near the top, so half the stem is in soil and i have the top with one rosette and a leaf not attached to the stem with the other rosette barley hanging on, they were already so tiny so i dont know what to do with this poor mangeled plant..i had been watering and checking since this morning bc it was so dry its not absorbing it but then that happened so not sure what to do now..hopefully i can save it...i also really needed that reminder at the end of the video...my self talk hasnt been good lately....I AM SO GRATEFUL AND BLESSED IN MY LIFE..SO I WILL HELP AND BLESS AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN
It’s okay if you haven’t been misting. I think it’s quite cold where you are at from what I remember. 😅 I think. 🤣😆 I hope I’m not getting confused. You are in Canada, right? So, you are most certainly fine. You actually have one of the best growing conditions except in the winter, but there is always a solution to that. 🤣 if it is almost not hanging on, put those babies in a new pot, but first, did it break at the base? Can you send a photo through a direct message on instagram? I have the same name. I’m hoping to see it, ‘cause if it broke somewhere in the middle of the leaves, we might not be able to save that part. But the good news about that, is if the base is intact, newer leaves can grow again. 😃
i was very lucky with one of my jades - one of the leaves had a bit of tearing at the bottom, and I wasn’t very enthusiastic about its future. However, something told me to keep it - and somehow, it survived and grew a baby! it’s definitely not common, but it is seemingly possible, as long as there’s some of the leaf end left

Hi Viri, unfortunately, the amount of time varies. My apologies that I’m not able to give you an exact answer. They will just sprout babies whenever. Thank you for the question. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫

I did air propagation and have little babies. Mine were from a leaf; do i need to remove the leaf i used for propagating? or do i just leave it to rot and let nature take over? leaf is wrinkled and shrivelled. I've recently transferred them to pots with cactus soil- but don't know what to do with the big leaf
Hello! Mom leaf would fall off. In fact, letting it rot and fall off is the best way. They provide for the babies, so they are better off intact until they shrivel and dry up. Thank you, Merika for responding to her question. I’m not too sure why they don’t show the yellow stripes, too. It’s been puzzling me, too. I wish I know the answer to that. As for the duration of each stages, I’d say months and months. 😅 It takes a lot of patience and faith, but it pays off. It’s been awhile, so I’m not sure about the season, but I would propagate regardless of the season. At least, out here in California. My apologies for the late response. I hope those who are waiting for a response from me will read this, too. Just recently, I made a decision to respond to newer comments. Not succeeding with trying to propogate. I live in Southern Illinois. Temp in house stays around 66-70 right now. How and when do I mist if laying leaves on soil and in the box with no soil?
Hi, Carole, I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you’re not giving up. If you’ve been keeping them indoors (as they should be, by the way 😃; you’re on the right track), don’t start misting until they actually show roots and/or leaves. On cooler days, don’t mist every day. Please also make sure that the soil is not getting too damp. Once you see actual sprouts, I’d say two to 4 pumps of the spray bottle is good enough. I hope this time, you’ll succeed. Please also make sure that the base of the leaf is intact. Thank you so much for this comment. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
Hi Thuy, I have another video where I showed water propagation. You are so right. They propagate in water, too. Thank you for sharing your strategy with the community. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
I'd propogate babies in coco coir because it's sterile (doesn't carry bacteria) but most videos they're just using regular cactus potting mix (usually compost or peat, sand, and sometimes perlite)
Hi everyone, I’m glad to see the sharing of tips here. I have been using cactus soil mix, too, but lately, I have been shifting to regular soil. Succulent and Cactus soil mix are just too fast draining, in my opinion, that only the surface soil gets wet. So the succulents end up being to thirsty still. I really want to make a video about this. I hope someday soon. 🤞Huge apologies to everyone for the late response. 😅 I’ve been so busy. I’m sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments and inquiries. I can’t believe I’m over 1 year behind now. 😔😅 Thank you so much for the kind comment. I really appreciate it. I just bought a succulent for my bedroom. Kinda bad at caring for them. Any reason why leaves would fall off a plant? Granted I've been moving it around to brighter windows through the day to get more sun, Would that cause shock and make it drop? It looks plenty healthy
Hi! Don’t mist yet. Is it cold out there? If it is not very warm, I suggest that you don’t mist until you see tiny signs of sprout. What’s you temperature like out there? Thank you for asking. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
It’s cool enough if it is 22 degrees C. You don’t have to mist until you see sprouts. I’m so glad you asked. Not misting on cooler days encourages growth from the mother leaves as it tries to look for water source. Thank you. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
im a first timer for planting an succulent I have a question.... Can i always use leaves for propagation?? How many days do it will grow babies? How can i water my succulent??
I’ll answer it for you ^^ 1- well yeah! Leaves can always be used for propagation! Also, if your succulent have stems, and the stems dosent have any leaf, try to preserve it because it’ll eventually grow tiny baby leaf! 2- it depends on the environment and how you water them~ 3- I suggest you to water em once a week! If you over-water them, they’re roots could rot and we don’t want that ^~^ (Please correct me if I’m wrong :0 )
All of these answers are correct. And to add to this, too, most succulents do propagate from leaves except some few ones, such as some aeoniums, but you can propagate most aeoniums through cuttings. Thank you for replying to our friend’s question. I really appreciate both of you for this interaction. Endless blessings to both of you! ❤️🙏🌈
Hi Lianne, it actually depends on the weather. On very warm days, you can mist daily, but make sure it’s just light misting. I don’t even mist on very cold days. Huge apologies for the late response. 😅 I’ve been so busy. I’m sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments and inquiries. I can’t believe I’m 1 year behind now. 😔😅 Thank you so much for the inquiry and for your patience. I really appreciate it. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
Hi, Hearher, my huge, huge apologies that it took some time for me to respond. 😅 I was on vacation. 😊 The older and bigger they are, the better. They are more likely to survive repotting or transplanting when they are older. For rosettes, I’d say wait til they are over an inch wide or until you see that they are really more capable of storing water in their leaves, ‘cause when you transfer them, it is best not to water them for about 10 days. Thank you for asking your question. I really appreciate it. More blessings to you! ❤️🙏🌈
You're welcome! My apologies for the very late response. 😅I have been so busy. Thank you so much for the comment. I really appreciate it! Wishing you more blessings! ❤🙏🌠
i tried to used the air lift propagation with water, after 4 days some roots are sprouting already, do we need to plant it right away in the soil or wait a little baby pups come out before potting it? thank you for sharing this vdeo😊

Hello Maria, thank you! In the past, I was using fast draining soil. These days, I just use regular dirt and I got better results with it. In fact, I have been wanting to make a video about it, but I havent found the time to make one. Thank you for the question. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
They'll want to be: 1) Mature (big) enough - to have enough energy to shoot roots / growth 2) Not broken at the base 3) Misted daily (see point 3 at 2:23) I've also seen comments that say certain succulents just don't propagate by leaf. (N.B. I'm still propogating my first succulents so these are just tips I've read.) Happy propagating!
Hi Suchita, Elliot S is right. Some succulents don’t propagate from leaves. Most Aeoniums don’t. What kind of succulent are you trying to propagate. Have you tried not misting them at first? I hope I’ll find your response. I’m not sure, but I don’t always get notifications for responses. Huge apologies for the late response. I’ve been incredibly busy. I’m really hoping to find time to make more videos soon. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you so much for leaving an inquiry. I really appreciate it. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
Hi! The leaves can root as soon as one week to as long as three weeks. There are multiple factors that affect speed of rooting like temperature, season, maturity of the leaves and moisture (in the air and in some cases, frequency of misting). Thank you for asking. My apologies for the very late response. More blessings to you! ❤️🙏🌈
Hi Punitha, Donna is on the right track there. You might also be misting too much. Huge apologies for the late response. 😅 I’ve been so busy. Hi, Viriya! I still prefer dry soil. Thank you so much for the inquiry. I really appreciate it. Huge apologies for the very late response. Wishing you love, blessings, health and happiness! ❤️🙏💫
Hi! I normally don’t mist immediately unless they are in a really warm area. I still wait for them to form a scab, too. Thank you for the question. I really appreciate it. Blessings, love and good health to you! 🙏❤️💫
@@SucculentFame I'm also curious, when propagating is it best to pick a specific leaf i.e. newer or older leaves ? I know the bottom older leaves can dry out after being so old, so is it best to pick a younger, newer leaf over an older one? or doesnt necessarily matter? I'm just trying to optimize success ! :)
@@SucculentFame I have another question! I know you said it's best to wait 6-8 days after watering before repoting & to never repot on the same day as watering... is that true for etiolated plants too? I need to take care of one of mine but not sure if theres a specific time to take care of a plant in etiolation or I can just do it whenever. all I'd do is make sure the crown/rosetta callus' before it goes into damp soil?
I have included as much information as I could in this short video. 😃 Enjoy watching and remember to share it with your friends! ❤️🙏🌈
I tried but mine leaf just dried aftwr 2 weeks

Misting always ends up rotting my mother leaves before the baby is fully ready. I now drip water directly onto the roots, it's made a huge difference.

The leaves on the box, do you mist them once they callus? Even though they do not have roots or babies yet? Thanks

excellent video! now im freaking bc i havent been misting them!!! ahhh!!! i have them on dry soil.....also i have a succulent that had two baby rosettes but my son knocked it over and broke the stem near the top, so half the stem is in soil and i have the top with one rosette and a leaf not attached to the stem with the other rosette barley hanging on, they were already so tiny so i dont know what to do with this poor mangeled plant..i had been watering and checking since this morning bc it was so dry its not absorbing it but then that happened so not sure what to do now..hopefully i can save it...i also really needed that reminder at the end of the video...my self talk hasnt been good lately....I AM SO GRATEFUL AND BLESSED IN MY LIFE..SO I WILL HELP AND BLESS AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN
It’s okay if you haven’t been misting. 😃
I’m glad the message at the end of this video helped. 😃 I’m really so glad to hear that.
i was very lucky with one of my jades - one of the leaves had a bit of tearing at the bottom, and I wasn’t very enthusiastic about its future. However, something told me to keep it - and somehow, it survived and grew a baby! it’s definitely not common, but it is seemingly possible, as long as there’s some of the leaf end left
So glad to hear that! Thank you for the comment! My apologies for the late reply. 😅I have just started responding to the rest of the comments again. I’ve been so busy.
Just leave it. It’ll fall off and be absorbed in the soil.
Great video..thanks
You’re welcome, Wilfredo! And thank you so much for leaving a comment on my video. I really appreciate it! ❤️☺️🌈
I did them by water roots come out faster than on soil Looks them very good
Hi Thuy, I have another video where I showed water propagation. You are so right. They propagate in water, too. Thank you for sharing your strategy with the community. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
What soil are you using for secculants? Thank you.
I'd propogate babies in coco coir because it's sterile (doesn't carry bacteria) but most videos they're just using regular cactus potting mix (usually compost or peat, sand, and sometimes perlite)
Hi my name is Sharon- I use a cactus soil w/:miracle grow in eith soil. I find it's the best.
I use Cactus Jacks succulent and cacti soil. But I’m wondering if I should add something to it, like Miracle Grow or the coco coir?? Any thoughts?
I’m think that it might have been watered with too short of an interval. How many times have you watered since the start of winter? 😃
Should i wait until the leaf grow roots before misting with water? I only set mine up 2 days ago. Should i mist now or wait for roots?
Hi! Don’t mist yet. Is it cold out there? If it is not very warm, I suggest that you don’t mist until you see tiny signs of sprout. What’s you temperature like out there? Thank you for asking. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
@@SucculentFame i have mine inside near a north faving window that gets no direct sunlight. Its probably around 20 degrees C all through the day
It’s cool enough if it is 22 degrees C. You don’t have to mist until you see sprouts. I’m so glad you asked. Not misting on cooler days encourages growth from the mother leaves as it tries to look for water source. Thank you. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
Thank you for the help!! ❤❤
You’re welcome! And thank you so much again, too! ❤️😃
im a first timer for planting an succulent
I have a question....
Can i always use leaves for propagation??
How many days do it will grow babies?
How can i water my succulent??
I’ll answer it for you ^^
1- well yeah! Leaves can always be used for propagation! Also, if your succulent have stems, and the stems dosent have any leaf, try to preserve it because it’ll eventually grow tiny baby leaf!
2- it depends on the environment and how you water them~
3- I suggest you to water em once a week! If you over-water them, they’re roots could rot and we don’t want that ^~^
(Please correct me if I’m wrong :0 )
All of these answers are correct. And to add to this, too, most succulents do propagate from leaves except some few ones, such as some aeoniums, but you can propagate most aeoniums through cuttings. Thank you for replying to our friend’s question. I really appreciate both of you for this interaction. Endless blessings to both of you! ❤️🙏🌈
In propagating in a box do we mist 2 to three days straight? Or two to three times a week?
Hi Lianne, it actually depends on the weather. On very warm days, you can mist daily, but make sure it’s just light misting. I don’t even mist on very cold days. Huge apologies for the late response. 😅 I’ve been so busy. I’m sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments and inquiries. Once I have a baby growing from the mother leave when can I pot it
Hi, Hearher, my huge, huge apologies that it took some time for me to respond. ❤️🙏🌈

i tried to used the air lift propagation with water, after 4 days some roots are sprouting already, do we need to plant it right away in the soil or wait a little baby pups come out before potting it? thank you for sharing this vdeo😊
in my experience it's best to wait until pups start to sprout!!

Hello Maria, thank you! In the past, I was using fast draining soil. These days, I just use regular dirt and I got better results with it. In fact, I have been wanting to make a video about it, but I havent found the time to make one. Thank you for the question. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
Great video
Thank you so much again, Abhishek! Love and best wishes, from Brentwood, California, USA! ❤️☺️🌈
My leaves don’t propogate. They just dry in soil or by air. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Pls help me
They'll want to be:
1) Mature (big) enough - to have enough energy to shoot roots / growth
2) Not broken at the base
3) Misted daily (see point 3 at 2:23)
I've also seen comments that say certain succulents just don't propagate by leaf.
(N.B. I'm still propogating my first succulents so these are just tips I've read.)
Happy propagating!
Thank you for responding to Suchita’s inquiry. I really appreciate it! Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫
How long did it take for the leaves to sprout roots? You gave no indication of the time range that the rooting process might take using these methods.
Hi! The leaves can root as soon as one week to as long as three weeks. There are multiple factors that affect speed of rooting like temperature, season, maturity of the leaves and moisture (in the air and in some cases, frequency of misting). Thank you for asking. My apologies for the very late response. More blessings to you! ❤️🙏🌈
I am loving and so I will be a better person
This is a very good statement, Danille! Awesome self-talk! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈
What is the reason of soggy leaves while propogation
Soggy leaves are rotting, probably from absorbing too much water. Make sure your leaf tips are dry and calloused before placing onto wet soil.
Hi Punitha, Donna is on the right track there. You might also be misting too much. Huge apologies for the late response. 😅 I’ve been so busy. I’m sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments and inquiries. I can’t believe I’m 1 year behind now. 😔😅 Thank you so much for the inquiry. I really appreciate it. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫

Your house is soooo nice
Thank you so much, Hugo! I really appreciate your comment. ❤️☺️🌈
I love your video! How long does it take til the mother leaves start sprouting? Thank you.
Hello! It actually depends on the season. Sometimes, they only take 5 days. Huge apologies for the late response. 😅 I’ve been so busy. I’m sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments and inquiries. I can’t believe I’m over 1 year behind now. 😔😅 Thank you so much for the inquiry. I really appreciate it. I'm trying to plant succulent on ur way, hope can be successful
Hi LaMei! I really hope so, too! I think you’ll do great! Thank you so much for this comment! I really appreciate it! ❤️☺️🌈
Hi~! Thank you for the very helpful video! I want to ask when you put the leaf in the soil, the soil is dry or slightly damp? or it doesn't matter?
Hi, Viriya! I still prefer dry soil. Thank you so much for the inquiry. I really appreciate it. Huge apologies for the very late response. Wishing you love, blessings, health and happiness! ❤️🙏💫
do u mist while still waiting for it to scab? or do u mist only once its laid in the soil or container after it scabbed up?
Hi! I normally don’t mist immediately unless they are in a really warm area. I still wait for them to form a scab, too. Thank you for the question. I really appreciate it. Blessings, love and good health to you! 🙏❤️💫
@@SucculentFame thank you so much! still have a few days to go, I watered wednesday and hope to start propagating soon ❤ take care & be well🌱🌸❤
@@SucculentFame I'm also curious, when propagating is it best to pick a specific leaf i.e. newer or older leaves ?
