I have a stretchy succulent sitting by the window, and I've been looking for ways on how to cut and propagate the plant. Your video has been so enjoyable, relaxing, and informational to watch! - especially for someone like me who is starting to grow and take care of succulent plants. Thank you!
I dunno who screamed louder .. me or the mother plant when u were plucking them .. 😂😂 But ur video is super encouraging ... i m a newbie and i hope i can propagate as pro as you did! Thanks!
it´s tough love, I don´t want to hurt the plants but propagating is the main reason for them to exist (for us too lol).. you´re essentially doing those plants the biggest favor by helping them pass down their genes ;)
Your success with plant propagation is your gentle voice, patience, and TLC. I am learning alot from your videos. I just started plant propagating echeveria leaves and it seems to be working. YAY!! I have jade plants I want to propagate soon, with your advice and help. Many thanks, from Texas!!😊
I would dry it out before microwaving, otherwise it would smell! Afterwards, when you’re cultivating the plants, they seem to prefer a little moisture but not too much or they rot out
Very easy and straight forward. I made my first terrarium the other day and now I'm addicted! I've already started to propagate some leaves. It's only been a couple of days, but I can't wait for them to progress!! Sub'd.
Thank you so much for sharing this video, I can't wait to get started on my own propagation of succulents from leaves. Yes, it appears to be a slow process, but none the less satisfying to watch their progress.
Thanks so much! I see this video was made 4 years ago yet it's just what I need today. Tried to do this and didn't see any development of the leaves and through them out but it had only been 5 days so I appreciate the detail in this video. I probably did not leave it long enough to see the growth.
I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to take ANY succulents off your hands!! I'm trying to start a succulent garden, but they are very expensive for even a small plant where I live, and my budget is small, lol. Love your Videos!! Thank You for all advice!!
They are also totally unkillable. I planted a bunch around my mailbox. Usually everything dies there without daily watering. I watered them after planting then left them alone (just rain) and they are going nuts. Succulents DGAF ;)
Dan Hughes well they might be unkillable but I over water what I do take them out soil feel it itf it feel dry water it like cactus but they like it more drier I'm a beginner with the succulents but cactus I kill a lot in the past
ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT? I’ve killed like 4 or 5. I TRY to keep them alive. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. They thrive for weeks then suddenly they start dying. They all seem to die the same.
Lol I’ve killed so many. I killed them while trying to figure out the best ways to propagate them. I have also made many mistakes during my propagation journey (that killed them). But now I know about how not kill them so I won’t be making the same mistakes ever again. Killing them is ok as long as you learn never to make the same mistake again.
Succulents are like cacti, they only need watering like 1-4 times a week. Dont water them daily with a can and spray water or at least something that doesnt give too much water. Just a question, do you live somewhere with a decent amount of sunlight everyday? Succulents need at least 6 hours or over sunlight.
No soil?!That's amazing! Im going to start with even more leaves now! I'm just starting on my succulent journey and I think I got good guidance with this video, Thank you for sharing
Just found your site...I must say " This is the BEST video I have seen on propagation with leaves " I have tried laying just the leaves in soil with NO success what so ever...Your method really looks easy and I will try..All I can say Sir is..You have been given God's gift for Growing plants for sure....Thank you for this video...I have Subscribed to your Wonderful channel and look so forward to seeing ALL your video's....Happy Growing from the East Coast !! 🌿🌺🌱🌵🌿
I had that same succulent with the leaves you propagated. I left them outside and it got up to 122 degrees (in Arizona) That did them in. I have three leaves left. I'm doing exactly what you shared here now. They were really nice and doing great. I feel bad about it.... Now I have to start from leaves and never take them outside... LOL
Well u just answered the question I've been looking for. I got several leaves & I didn't know if I should leave them outside or inside until they sprout new sprouts. I'm gonna put them in the window sill & hope for the best. It's supposed to get up to 100 in Tennessee next week. Thank you
Try letting the leaves callous first. Basically pull leaves from the plant and leave to dry for 3 to 5 days, once a callous has formed, place in cactus soil and mist occasionally
Chela Williams how would you normally propagate, I’ve tried the leaf method so many times and it only worked once and that one time it was actually accident
i love you videos - i can tell you have a love for the earth and work you do! I love your voice too (: Your videos are helpful and make me feel really really proud of the plants/herbs/food I grow . Thank yoU!
@@havingfuninlearning7084 That's worked about 98% of the time for me. They get all of the water, nutrients and resources they need from their own leaves. I think this is by design. In nature the leaves fall onto the soil or ground and just root by themselves.
I just discovered your channel about growing hot peppers I live in the gambia west africa .were we about 2 kinds off pepper so your channel is fantastic we watch it with all the farmers in the area LIKE SCHOOL THANKS A LOT
Great video! There is such beauty in each succulent. I love collecting these and they are so fun to propagate too! Your succulents are gorgeous! Keep on growing!
Hi quick question! Hopefully you see this and reply 😭🙌 as far as the soil goes, does it have to be quick draining soil specifically for succulents/cactus or does it have to be regular potting soil for the propagation rooting process? If it does have to be regular potting soil, when would you say it's ideal to transfer to its corresponding quick draining succulent/cactus soil? And for the leafs themselves and that time frame of 30 days, would you recommend putting them outside where they get direct sunlight for a few hours a day or inside your home near direct lighting??
Help I live in Phoenix Arizona I've been watching all of these videos I pull them off of the ones at Home Depot or the ones that I've fallen off I set them on top of my dirt inside I wait for them to Calus, SomeTimes I miss them sometimes I don't they are shriveling up and dehydrating and dining
I stumbled on to your video by accident. This is great, very clear & concise. I have a question tho. Why does my leaf propagation not look like yours and many others? I’m talking about the cluster of pups which I don’t get right at the mother leaf. Mine has, what I call a tail, with the pups on top of that. I laid them on top of dry soil and that’s how they formed.
Hey thank you so much for your so so important information I had a plant which was given by my lover to me n my mom accidentally watered it for almost 5-6 hours ... Great video, could you show us some videos on what you do with all of your peppers at the end of the growing season or maybe several of the main things you create with them like different dishes
Your Aloe plant is beautiful. Please consider doing a video on propagating it. I've owned two Aloe plants that I purchased to use as skin remedies and I ended up over watering both - they didn't make it (:
i seen a couple flies not saying its not clean but it reminded me that if anyone has any fly problems with their plants mix dish soap with your water them with that. soap is safe for the plants but keeps them away
I believe if you’re just letting them sit in sun for awhile they can sprout either way. My Echeveria always drops leaves in the winter months and I usually just let them sit in there with the soil and just a few days ago I noticed a lil sprouting! (I’m a newbie)

One sentence that has never come out of my mouth... I have so many succulents idk what to do with them.

Ummm all buy some from ya lol!! ♥

Same LOL! I bought so many and they always die on me 😅🤦🏻♀️

I did the exact same thing. That pop when he pulls them off is like listening to someone break a bone to me. It makes me cringe.
Lmao I had the same struggle! I didn't want to break baby sukis leaves off 😢
Well, then I don't advise you to watch bonsai tutorials :-D
The second you said 31 days I quickly decided to just go buy some instead. Lol. Great video by the way.
but it’s 31 days for him because he’s in winter and depending on your season warmer weather doesn’t take that long
Lol
I had roots sprouting in 7 days :) It's now been 18 days, and I have loads of pups!
go for it, but i'd rather wait a month than have to pay 4-6 dollars for a plant your can easily propagate

microwave the soil OMG! brilliant!!! wonderful vid thanks
Such an excellent tip, not sure why I didn’t think of it!
I didn’t watch that far into the video, does it like irradiate the soil or something? 😬🤣
It sterilises the soil by cooking any insect eggs, seeds, and bacteria
I would dry it out before microwaving, otherwise it would smell!
Afterwards, when you’re cultivating the plants, they seem to prefer a little moisture but not too much or they rot out
Nice plant jade🤩💚Sending full my supports👍☘️🍀🌳
I tried this and it's working! Thanks for the detailed video. I came back to find out how to put my new plant in soil since it sprouted so nicely.
Thanks for the tutorial, mine was successful! And it made me want to add more succulents and propagate them and make it a business

One of the best propagation videos on You Tube. Thank you!!!!
Wow, very impressed. I didn't know at all that the succulents sprout like this. Thank you for your kind information.
Love your voice and patience
😂😂😂😂 the harder and more I try to propigate, the more rotten leaves I watch shrivel. What the heck 😭
omg me too!!! i tried many many times
Water them more if they look dry. Don’t water them too much though.
Try letting the leaves callous first. Basically pull leaves from the plant and leave to dry for 3 to 5 days, once a callous has formed, place in cactus soil and mist occasionally
Kristal Talaski ugh same. what's the opposite of a green thumb? that's what I have. it's embarrassing 😭
NakedAndLaughing yeah, "black thumb" seems accurate 😢 i tried to propagate like eight leaves from my Jade plant and they all rotted
Outstanding. Without soil mixture, leaf compost, cocopeat new leaf propagation only through moisturizing by misting only.👍
Great video. Thanks for showing the progress in one video.
Very informative.
Never tried succulents. Thank you for the information. Love the jade plant.
There are so many beautiful varieties, I highly recommend you giving them a shot!
Best video I have found on the subject so far, I will definitely be giving it a try.

They dont even need soil just light

Thanks so much! I have a bunch of "leggy" succulents. I am going to take them apart and regrow new ones.
i have watched a ton of propagating vids and this may have been the most helpful! no soil... who would have thought? 😍😍
you make it look so easy, im a new mom to succulents. still learning
This is so informative and your delivery on commentary is so on point thanks!! Now I know what to do with mine 😆🤩 yay
I propagate mine without ever using any water at all. I just leave them to sit on top of cactus soil and / or perlite.
Cool! Does that work to?

So cool! Glad to find your video after my succulent plant leaves started falling off! Seems so easy to save them and gift them 😁
Great video! My leaves are finally growing after trying so many other methods. 😄
Thank you so much for such an informative video on how to do this. I've tried to do this in nov but had no luck. I can see why now. Ty ty ty ty

Don't you have to dry the cuttings first before you spray them?
I believe if you’re just letting them sit in sun for awhile they can sprout either way. My Echeveria always drops leaves in the winter months and I usually just let them sit in there with the soil and just a few days ago I noticed a lil sprouting! (I’m a newbie)

Just received a small succulent in the mail and it was destroyed. I found your video, hoping I can resurrect it!
Hola soi de costa rica me encanta la sección de suculentas son mui hermosas
that jade plant has been alive from a stem since 2014 xD haha amazing
Thanks for this video, I haven't plant any this will be my first. I'll try. This at home, see if my hand will be able to do this succulent plant
Do you spray once it’s in the soil too?
You keep the SOIL moist. The leaves don't absorb water, the roots send the water to the leaf.
Thanks for sharing your video. Now I have an idea on how to propagate my succulents.
