In Piper's book, he said that Freddie Blassie later apologized to Piper for stuffing his bagpipes. He claimed that Piper was so good that they felt threatened by him. They saw the potential and were looking out for themselves.
My buddies and I would sit outside the landing strip strip bar in Romulus Michigan right by the airport and we would sneak out on our bikes to meet the wrestlers outside when they would arrive. Ted was always cool to us kids. Thanks for that ted
What a wonderful memory I would have loved to meet those guys, only saw the WWF once in Dublin in 91, MDM lost to the bulldog, undertaker vs Sid was the main event, Jake was there bushwackers with Andre, Roddy Piper stole the show, what a reaction from the crowd, God bless him, special times
@@jshiner7298 the cool thing is kids can still do it today. If you live in Romulus Michigan show up at the landing strip after any wwe event and they will be there. The scary thing was we had to ride through a trail by the cemetery.
😂😂😂 that's a strip club 😂
@@vinny2459 yes sir. I think I said that in my first sentence. I lived right down the block by the cemetery if you know the town.
@@sixfootben4892 I do know the town. That's awesome man.
All the guys from those days actually say that Piper was a very quiet, very polite kid in the locker room. Deferential to the older wrestlers. I doubt he pissed anyone off in this instance, it was just bullying.
Million Dollar Man is forever Gold!
Is it possible because a lot of wrestlers back then worked in different territories that they knew or knew of Ted’s dad? That knowledge could have been enough to make them think twice about messing with him.
That’s what I’ve always heard it was Classy Freddie Blassie!
The quote from Piper was that Blassie said, "you're too good," while Blassie and Albano were givihim the business back stage. Piper was 20 or 21 at the time. How many undersized heels were given a shot in the WWWF back then at his age? For sure Blassie was trying to keep Piper out of the biggest money territory and must have thought Piper didn't pay enough dues yet.

Roddy said that it was Freddie Blassie
I got two Deangelo bros on my same feed ! Keep kicking ass guys !
Freddie Blassie and Roddy Piper both had roots on the west coast. I wonder if Piper pissed somebody off out there before coming into the WWWF.
Seems most likely he was just a kid and an easy target. There was a lot of hazing of anyone who didn't have an in by all accounts and he was barely out of his teens with no contacts there. No one was going to protect him and there'd be no consequences for fucking with him, so they did.
@@trinityj1 I remember back in 1979 when Piper was all of a sudden on WOR and just came out playing the bagpipes. No buildup or interview while pretty much gone right away and not memorable. It came off confusing and that's usually where you loose fans. How little did we know how great Roddy was just a few more years later.
Wow. DiBiase made his WWWF debut 52 days before I was born.
Oh really!
@@rightbro Apparently so.
It was WWF not WWWF in the mid to late 80's
This was before the change from the WWWF to WWF which actually happened in 79. So it is barely the WWWF since it is the same year as the change.
Let's just remember that Pat Patterson was already there when Roddy made that appearance. Might have had something to do with it.
It was probably that Bobby Backlund. We all saw how mean howdy doodee became later on. Blaming that old man like that is wrong, may he RIP. He was a good manager to the Hulkster and 1000s of other pro wrasslers probably.
Do you mean Bobby Heenan?
@@johnobrien1528 yes
@@Parlimant_Strifey and when did he manage Hulk Hogan? Freddy Blassie did, Jimmy Hart did, but Heenan?
@@johnobrien1528 he probably didn't, Heenan probably managed 1000s of wrasslers 😁
@@Parlimant_Strifey so your original comment was 100% you talking out of your arse? You’re clueless, right?
2:50 just shows you how childish the wrestlers were and how badly run the business was run, try pulling a rib in any other line of work you'd be fired instantly
Yeah, people today can't handle unsafe words , let alone something physical.
Haha, freddie didnt want that stupid gimmick in wwwf, good for him.
iron mike was a real wrestler in the day 50s,60s, before the wrestlemania , wwwf/wwf in the 60s,70s, ran from maine too wash dc, not the whole east coast, (mid atlantic,,georgia, florida was nwa area different champions , ted dibiase jr was plain, no charisma, could work great, no emotion, like bruno jr same thing!!
i dont know i just get snake vibes the more i listen...i could be wrong...
0:31 teds as red as a beetroot won't be long he will be gone
Why didn't you ask him about all the money he and his sons stole from Mississippi people?
Who cares
@@jabrockobiden9434 I am sure the 1000's of people who use and receive that aid care.
He's just living the role.
It should be called "The Million $ Podcast" like duh
I agree that's a no brainer. I'm not sure about the title of the podcast it may make it difficult for people to find out about it unless they happen to stumble upon it. I only found it because I subscribe to some other wrestling channels and it popped up in my feed.
The podcast title doesn't have either Ted's name in it or the Million Dollar Man.
Maybe the WWF said he can't
He and his children are grifter con artists 🧐 Stole millions in children's charities and not in ONE transaction. Premeditated
Ted is a coward and a fraud 🤥
