I never knew if I was in the minority on this, but I never needed the super high risk bumps. Body slams, suplexes and good mic skills were enough to keep me tuned in.
I absolutely LOVE how EVERY wrestler speaks of Haku as a near mythical figure! Rasslers don't universally agree on anything... but they damn sure agree on that!
Haku is a badass, but seems like a great guy. If I had an army of the 10 toughest guys from wrestling it would be Haku, Steve Blackman, Harley Race, Dan Spivey, Dick Slater, Ric Rude, Dan Severn, and Andre the giant eho makes up 3 people.
Ever see Dragon Ball Super? When Goku fought Lord Beerus & the universe was nearly destroyed because of it? That's what I imagine Prime Haku vs. Prime Chuck would've been like.
Actually, Ted is incorrect on one point. Tonga Fifita is not the son of the Tongan King. He's not a Tongan Prince despite being known for years as King Tonga. He's just a regular Tongan who before being sent to study Sumo was a noted rugby union player who was being looked at as a possible future Tongan international player. In 1974 the then King of Tonga, Tāufaʻāhau Tupou IV, sent a group of 6 teenagers to Japan to study Sumo. Among the 6 were then 15 year old boys Tonga Fifita (Haku/Meng) and Sione Vailahi, otherwise known as The Barbarian. In Sumo, Haku was known as Fukunoshima while Barbarian's name was Sachinoshima.
Fun Fact: Even though they weren't the Faces of Fear back then, Haku and The Barbarian with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan as their manager opened Wrestlemania VII with a loss to The Rockers (showing just how much of a work wrestling really is that Michaels and Jannetty could beat those two lol).
Haku could’ve been a great IC champion after the whole king of the Ring was done he could’ve been IC champion imagine him vs Brett Hart could’ve been great
Haku never won King of the Ring. He was given that gimmick after Harley Race (who won it in 1986) got injured. It was a confusing idea at the time. Randy Savage won that tournament in 1987 over King Kong Bundy, but it was never acknowledged because it wasn't televised.
Haku/Meng should have had a better push. he had a great look, got a decent run (too short) as a monster in WCW, but he should have had more time at the top. Agile, strong, great look, martial arts, monster. Would have been better than some of the stupid gimmicks they pushed in WWF like Boogeyman, Papa Shango, and the Ultimate Warrior. He could actually work. No insult meant to Godfather, who could work, as well. Just a dumb gimmick.
@@MoxyOh he went to WWF in 2001. Appeared in the Rumble that year, teamed up with Rikishi a big and did some short term angles against Undertaker and Kane. Good times.
Coward who ran away from a real fight. Read between the lines of all those stories you have heard. He always ran from a real fight then attacked someone who had no chance of fighting back. He did that to try and act tough after running away from a real fight. All bullies do that. He wasn't tough he was a coward, just listen to how many times he coward punched people. Nothing tough about that.
@@Me-qp8vz I'm not going to go as far to call him a coward I've never met him nor scene him fight in person. However most of the stories are him vs a regular guy. If I were to guess to bite someone's nose or attempt to dig out an eye means you are taking things to far against an opponent you already have control over which anyone can do or you are losing and do it out of desperation. Never heard of a fight he ran from though.
if haku's father is the king of tonga, then my sister in law is related to him because she is the grand daughter of the king tatakamatonga or something like that...
Haku was sent to Japan at 13 years old along with the Barbarian by the King of Tonga (the king of Tonga was 6'8" tall) to do Sumu. Founding stopped after the King died when he was like 18 years old & that was when Haku & the Barbarian were introduced to wrestling in Japan.

Ted shouldve had Eric role in the NWO another WWF guy then Eric as WCW then down the line he has been working for WCW the whole time the rat in WCW which i think Eric couldve pulled off
Man, from what it sounds like Haku did more damage to those folks than Ted Teddy, and Brett Farve did to the poor folks in Mississippi stealing welfare! :-$
Haku didn't deserve a main event run. He was boring as shit in the ring. Does anyone ever talk about specific "Haku matches?" Hell no. All they talk about is him beating up drunken hillbillies and bums who wanted a fight.
Has Haku ever won a fair fight? Can he fight fair without biting someone's nose off? All these stories about Haku but not one about a fair fight. Usually when you resort to fighting dirty you can't fight.
He has also won street fights with kicks to his opponents head. You make no sense. "Resorting to dirty fighting means you cant fight". What a load of nonsense you spout. A fight is a fight - and the only objective if some one attacks, is to survive by doing what it takes.
I don't know... If all these hulking 300lb monsters are scared shitless of Haku, I'll take their word for it. If you wanna test your luck, go ahead- let me know how that turns out for you.
I think they're overrating haku a little bit I honestly think ravishing Rick rude would kick his ass in a fight rude was fast like a boxer he'd hit that guy so many times they're just because you bite someone's nose off doesn't mean that you're actually a great fighter It just means you're crazy and will do crazy stuff It doesn't mean he's a better fighter I honestly believe Sid vicious would beat up haku
Haku and Tama were one of my favorite tag teams too. Speed and power. Electric
Ted DiBiase aka the Dubious one The Million Dollar Man... These guys made my childhood something i look back to with nostalgia...
DiBiase was smarter than most of the others, he learned to preserve his body, not take on crazy spots and didn't wait too long to stop wrestling.

"That man can be alone when he wants to be." That's a badass saying😂
Haku once punched Chuck Norris and let him live ...

Stop playing man Chuck Norris can go on da mat
False Chuck Norris trained Haku in an ancient underground arena. That is why Haku is so dangerous
Maybe because of the size and strength difference but George Foreman would beat Haku

While not main eventing, he had a longer WWF run than most 85/92 making that HulkaMania money

I habe a classic wwf action figure with his belt. One of the best character Vince created.
Hahu will alway be Meng in my mind
"Haku" and "Meng"....

Can you ask Ted if it is true that when he was talking in churches, he would ask the church people to send the collection plate around twice? Thanks.

Haku is the baddest of the people who never trained to be a fighter, which is most of the population so still pretty tough.

You would think the Million Dollar Man could afford his own hotel deluxe suite top of the line and advance Haku a larger sum of money ?
Haku's dad was the King of Tonga?

lol no, that doesn't seem to be correct. But the actual King of Tonga did send him (and Barbarian) to Japan to study sumo.
