Agreed. Fan from the 80s here too. I mean, the last three songs on this album. Amazing. It leads you to want more, and long for the next album already.
I agree with most of your critiques regarding 72 Seasons. I've listened to it once in its entirety, but I only have a few songs that I go back to. There wasn't enough variety on the album to differentiate one song from the next - it all just kinda blended. However, Inamorata is fire. Its structure reminds me of The Outlaw Torn and Fixxxer, but it has a My Friend of Misery feel to it. Maybe I'm looking through rose colored glasses because they were released when I was in Jr. / High School, but I LOVE Load and ReLoad just as much as their early albums, so I would like to see Metallica go down that path again before they throw in the towel. They've proven they can still crank out thrashy stuff, but those 1990s albums had memorable riffs and lots of melody. BTW, when I first heard Inamorata, I was honest to God holding back tears during the buildup of Kirks solo in the last leg of the song. It was such a throwback to their 1990s material and I loved it.
This is a Metallica masterpiece. It stands up against Orion. That's how highly I rate it. An epic song, and I'll be amazed if it doesn't grow on you too..rapidly, and the album too. And we agree on unforgiven 3. A great song 🔥🤘
Actually Rob just mentioned the car thing in an interview. During the bass breakdown (inamorata), vizualize you are driving through open grass fields/plains or something. Powerful stuff.
@@sheepie4292 absolutely. Every song has a piece of influence from almost every song out of their library. Hell, some of the riffs sound like st anger style except in standard tuning
So Fade to Black is my absolute fav song in any genre. And I am a fan of Spit out the Bone and Unforgiven III but not a fan of the Load Reload St. Anger Era. I've listened to the Album about 3 times. I'm liking 72 seasons, Lux Aterna Room of Mirrors and Inamorata. Most of these songs sound or remind me of something else I've loved from them or Old school Metal of the Past. I'm getting older now and my nostalgia always has me looking back. I love the callbacks but I agree it does get Stale.
This album definitely grows on you. Like the Load albums do. It's a different Metallica but familiar at the same time. I like a few songs alot actually. Better than Hardwired album by a tad
I liked this one more than Hardwired or Death Magnetic, it's more heavy and less pretentious. Yes, less variety in this one but more cohesive and better constructed, with no fillers imo
IDK man, if you like the Loads this should be above them in terms of quality. I have it a notch below Hardwired which I thought was their best album since TBA. Boring is not one thing I would call this album. Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect and it has things that could have been remedied by a more strong handed producer that could have tightened a few songs and gotten Kirk to up his game.
Srry man but couldn't disagree more with u on the take of this album. In my opinion best album since the black album. The fac5 u say it sound like hardwire it's insane..especially if u say ur a music guy
The worst Metallica album ever (after St. Anger, of course)! Without even one really good song! And it's so pity for me as 53 y.o. really old fan, because between 1983 and 2003 this was my favorite band, my religion... This album is a shame! Good reaction, dude! Best wishes from Bulgaria, Europe!
The more you listen to this album the better it gets. I've been a fan since the 80s and this is the best album since 1991
100%
100% agree. For me this is better than hardwired, magnetic, st anger ( obviously ) reload and load
I’ll definitely have to listen more!

that is true

That is 11 minutes song , that sounds like a 3 minute song , that’s the beauty of it , also James voice is unbelievable!!!
My first reaction was this wasn't as good as DM or HTSD. But seriously after 3 or 4 play throughs I like it way more. Play it in the car trust me.
What a feeling 🤯 made an excuse to got out in car last night just to listen 🎶 😅😅. Brilliant song.

There is a total throwback to My Friend of Misery when they go into the big jam after the bass riff
and the unforgiven 3 with the *she needs me* sounds a lot like *forgive me*

For me, their best song of the last 10+ years 👍🤘

I have to digest the album several times before I feel like I can make an opinion, but the second song shadows follow has great riffs
Theres a good chance this song talks about james addiction to alcohol
Change the battery in your smoke detector. It’s important.
Innamorata (in italian) means “in love”
Inamorata comes from a Italian word Innamorata.
