LYRICS
Welcome, won’t you come inside
Meet the ghosts where I reside
Despite how they’re abusing me
Lonely I will never be
Comfort in the hell I know
Resentment like a cancer grows
Longing for the day I’m free
Burn to get you out of me
Lying, supplying the need
Shedding and spreading the seed
Setting the trap with a thread
Spinning the web
Misery
She needs me
Oh, but I need her more
Misery
She loves me
Oh, but I love her more
Misery
She kills me
Oh, but I end this war
Misery
She fills me
Oh no, but she’s not what I’m
living for
Ricochets within my head
Conversations never said
Magnifying every thought
That familiar pain she brought
Seeps inside eventually
Misery loves company
Sullen, I created you
I suppose that I can end you too
She waits
She waits, she waits, she waits
She waits
She waits, she waits, she waits
Misery
She needs me
Oh, but I need her more
Misery
She loves me
Oh, but I love her more
Misery
She kills me
Oooh, but I end this war
Misery
She fills me
Oh no, but she’s not what I’m
living for
Oh no
Oooh, misery
She needs me
But I need her more
She loves me
But I love her more
She kills me, she kills me
But I end this war
She fills me, she fills me
But she’s not what I’m living for
Oh no, oh no
No, no, no, no, no, no
Not why I’m living
Misery
She needs me
Oh, but I need her more
Misery
She loves me
Oh, but I love her more
Misery
She kills me
Oh, but I end this war
Misery
She fills me
Oh no, but she’s not what I’m
living for
Misery, my misery
Misery, my misery
Misery
She’s not why I’m living
My misery
She’s not why I’m living
Misery
She’s not what I’m living for
My misery
No no

The fact that this song is 11 minute long but never feels too long is insane
Reminds me of back in the day
*"LION SUPPLYLION THE NEED!!!!"*
100%
@@scottritter9252I mean it's the best song without question in the 72 seasons album but it's not the best Metallica song but it is pretty damn good
That's what I'm saying like this song makes me feel alive
11 minutes and it only feels like 5, what a great track this is. Long live Metallica!
Yea the only problem with the song is it’s not long enough
it is 11 minutes on the track info...but its like time spent in a dream..u sleep 4 hours but u feel like as if it has only been 4 minutes since u closed your eyes..this song is just like that
Same feels man! I thought I was the only one haha. It's 11 minutes long but only feels like a 5 or 6 minutes song. It just gets you
Should be only 5 minutes...
I love it too!
Don't listen to anyone trying to say hey, it needs to be shorter, maybe they need to change this riff?
Pssh....
It is perfect as is!
To anybody reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind may clarity replace confusion. may peace and calmness fill your life.
Praise Jesus hallelujah🎉
Спасибо большое.
cheers mate
Thank GOD for giving you that message to me that’s exactly my life currently!🙏
Wow! Right back at u!
I was in Japan when this album came out. I had it played on shuffle while I was on a bus. As soon as it passed Mt. Fuji, this song began to play. Now, when I hear the intro to the song, I picture that massive, snow-capped mountain that I was completely dwarfed by before my eyes. It was epically beautiful.
That's awesome
The timing 👌
There is a guy in Vidcon btw.
And maybe you've understand what is.

This album is definitely a grower. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. Great work guys !

@@Abdul-Amburadul
That's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. METALLICA 4EVER
@@Abdul-Amburadul thats a shitty opinion you got there
@@Abdul-Amburadul i thought that too, but slowely some bits here and there i start to like. and then some songs... who knows. sometimes it takes 10 years to start enjoying a metallica album:D

That riff is amazing. The 11 minutes pass by in a flash. Love this one.
It's is a very quick 11 minutes of MetallicA glory!!
It sucks
@@johnjanney that’s a huge stretch.
@@johnjanneyIf you squint hard enough you can make any riff sound like at least one other riff that somebody else wrote before them. They didn't "steal" it, and quite frankly I don't even think they sound that similar at all. There's only so many riffs that can be written, music is not infinitely unique. Eventually you will write a riff that coincidentally sounds kinda similar to another riff. Every band has done this, some more than others, but that doesn't mean it's "stealing".
This song helped me through breakup. James, Lars, Kirk, Rob - thank you so much for this one ❤🤘
This song is my new ADDICTION...a real addiction that keeps rolling in my head all the day ...I do love this

Please, let it be the best video from this album... because this track deserves for it
It's animated video :(
That's what I've been saying, most of the animated/AI videos have been terrible. This masterpiece deserves a well made music video that tells a story just as much as the song itself does, it's going to be very disappointing if we end up with a video like the abomination music video for "Too Far Gone?". The videos for "Room Of Mirrors", "Crown Of Barbedwire", and "Shadows Follow" are great though.

It's not just you.. lol😅
It’s not just you😅
It is an absolute masterpiece and I cannot wait to see them play it live. I was hoping it would have been on this tour, but so far it hasn't happened.
Seriously this is one the best songs ever written by James... the lyrics, the melody and the harmony part is so good. I always feel amazing when i listen to this song.
He known the sensations about the Song , i think , the Metallica tried to send a message... Ti the old and new fans , Misery Is a real sensation , but the peoples dont live for him ( Sorry mu bad english ahah)
I can not stop listening to this song !
Have listening this song so many times, and f. Cking love this song 😅
*"LION SUPPLION THE NEED!!!"*
Pretty close to Master...amazing song,i love it!🤘
The melodic/harmonic part between James and Kirk is life-changing!
Best part of the entire record!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 can’t get enough of it, listen to it over and over and over again
It starts out sounding like Orion. Then they add some layers to the harmony and it sounds like Justice. Then they do that phrase that ends in the harmonized upward bend and it is a direct homage to My Friend of Misery. This album is full of old Metallica roots Easter eggs and I fucking LOVE IT!
Very true! But Kirk's guitar solo that comes a section or 2 earlier is absolute garbage. What a contrast with the guitar harmonization solo with James.
@@PhilosophyofGuitar Kirks only “GOOD” solo on this album is Too Far Gone when it opens up like Jump In The Fire. Most thought out melodic solo. He just shreds and wah wash his way through the rest unfortunately. Someone needed to light a candle under his ass. Bob Rock pushed him and it led to him creating the Unforgiven solo. He just needs to wake up his creativity. Idk. Sucks! I love Kirk but I wish he would try a little harder. We know he can do it. It’s like he has been suffering from writers block for a decade.
@@stevenrodriguez9655 I like Kirk's early solos quite a lot... After the Black Album, he started "improvising" in studio... A lot of garbage since then... Among his more recent solos "The Day That Never Comes" was good... ALL his solos from Self-Wired were cow dung. Soo bad, what a shame... He inspired me so much when I picked up the guitar and there's an argument to be made that Master Of Puppets could be the greatest Thrash Metal record of all times.
Riffs, rithm, lyrics, solos, highs and melodies. Everything perfect. One of their best songs ever. Pure passion. They're back
Back? Compare Master of Puppets to this? Back? What a joke.
@@adriantrusca1245 Are you still living in 1986? You don't even deserve to elaborate on my answer.
Absolute rubbish

@@adriantrusca1245 Your a joke, they aren’t in their prime like MOP. stop living in the past
This song to me is like an 11 minute progressive Black Sabbath jam. And I LOVE IT!
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Could you imagine if they’d turn up Rob’s bass to Geezer levels!?
That’s be amazing. 🤘
I was literally thinking the same the first time hearing the song. I also like that fact
I do wish it jumped to a thrash tempo
I'm withya!!
How good is this!!!
I grew up listening to Metallica and now my kids are doing the same!!
Fun fact: Hardwired ended with a "Yeah!" while 72 Seasons ended with a "No!".
The Huge No we are saying to others and to ourselves , creates our lives
We were also shouting "NO" right back at him. This droning, boring crap is giving me a headache.
I think by "we" you mean you and the very few and far between people who excel in complaining and dissatisfaction
Hell I like it
So fucking what!
James vocals in this song came out so beautiful. Love this song! Hits hard.
I think is the best vocal performance in the whole album, this is definetly a new level!
Melody is also important to metal, and I think everyone digs the chord progression on this bad-boy. The chorus and leads are catchy and I think this is why we all like this track. Great job MetallicA!
It's different from all other songs, like he recorded these vocals in a different month. He almost sounds like he has a cold. I can't explain it.
The last solo really tears me apart. Perfect ending for a huge album. Somehow I feel this is the very end of a long beautiful journey. Thank you Metallica for 40 years of incredible music ❤
They’re not done yet. We’ll get at least one more album, MAYBE 2. But at the pace they’ve been putting them out since St. Anger, I’d say more likely just one
*"LION SUPPLION THE NEED!!!"*
@JoeSmith-dl9ok either way I'll be happy with one more. Hopefully they have a proper ballad or instrumental on it that'd be great
Meh more pentatonic with wah shit. Gets predictable
The lads have no intention of stopping. They can't exist without Metallica, they are fully aware they need it in their lives. Just look at the Stones, Metallica are the Stones of Metal, with respect to longevity. They try to keep themselves in shape (Demons aside). I've been a fan since 87, I was 12 years old and hopefully they'll still be around when I'm 57.
Favorite song of the album, hope it gets the music video it deserves 🤘🏻
Probably will get one of those crap animated videos
@@liammcgarry1766 Its probably gonna be like the Here Comes Revenge Video Because its made by the same director but i kinda like that music video its different.

By far this is the song that hits me the most of this album, it’s such an honest, deep and real song that it’s impossible not to relate with it, I love it, it’s simply one of my favourite Metallica songs of all time.
Now being that said, I can’t believe I hadn’t seen the official music video until now. If the song hits me emotionally through its powerful harmonies and lyrics like only a few Metallica songs do, the visual impact of this video is just equally powerful.
Thank you for all the hard work everyone involved has put on these projects.

This is EPIC in every sense and aspect, the perfect closing of a monumental album! Metallica have returned in full glory and unparalleled might! Warmest greetings from Thessaloniki, Greece, to every metalhead all around the globe!
what a great joke
How old are you? I’m just curious, because THAT, first of all, compared to the past.. is utter $&!t. I gave Load, then Reload a fair chance, then gave up. In all that time, I’d be ashamed to have a decal on my car. I saw a photo of Hetfield in cargo shorts and a polo, which was a )&&) abomination. Somebody’s grandfather. There is an age limit to being badass. It does not involve Metamucil.
@@dustinburrows12 You should watch George Carlins' last live shows, old man- bass ass. no limit !
@@dustinburrows12 , I can understand that you didn't like the album and that's super cool but the whole age talk is totally irrelevant. First of all I don't really understand how cargo shorts & polo shirts affect someone's ability to create and play music. But I haven't written anything about Hetfield so I really don't want to know. Secondly, am I supposedly too young to have an opinion about an album? Is there an age limit to have an opinion? UA-cam comments aren't meant to be evidence-based scientific conclusions, they are simply someone's thoughts hopefully expressed in a well-mannered way. What if I was a 24 years old musical journalist and professional metal guitarist? Would my young age matter? Why? Anyway, just to know, I am a 46 years old next-door guy who happens to own some thousands of records of every kind of music and have been to hundreds of concerts of every kind to music, so I hope to meet your criteria of allowing me to have a saying about 72 Seasons. Sorry, my friend, I strongly disagree with the "How old are you" approach. You haven't been listening to the band for 26 years but here you are, commenting on their latest album. I can totally understand that you didn't like it but in my humble opinion it is an excellent album. Lets just agree that we disagree and I hope I didn't sound too annoyed.
Apparently and underveloped song with a clean guitar break (the only one on the album) is "epic" and "perfect". Jesus the bar has been lowered
An instant classic.

This song got me emotionally to a special place, I´ve suffered from severe depression since 2018 when my grandma passed away, I mean... the lyrics describe something I´ve been dealing with but somehow haven´t realized yet, the fact of how sometimes we get used to feel sad and empty, even though we try to get better a part of ourselves and our soul is still attached or in love with that misery and sense of darkness. "Misery she loves me, but I love her more" really brought me to tears. I don´t care what self named critics say about this record, 72 seasons really changed a part in me. Thanks Metallica.
Hey man, we share the pain for the loss of our grandmothers and the love for Metallica's music... This song is always clearly inspired by "My friend of misery", a song that was not valued for many years, as it deserved, but I am glad to know that after so many years it has its rightful place.

Best thing to do. We have all become super critical by over analysing everything because we can with tools like UA-cam. Just stop it and listen to music and you will enjoy more.
Prime example is everyone bashing kirks solos. Yes they are not outstanding but the more I liatern to the songs on 72 seasons they just blend into the songs and they seem part of them. So not so much stand alone solos more parts of the melody

this and 72 are the best
Lost my sister to suicide 4 days ago. I am heartbroken… Metallica gives me the strenghet i now need these hard times.. M4life❤️
My deepest condolences 🙏. I hope you have good memories with her. The Metallica community is with you♥️
Probably the best song on this new album. Genuis stuff!!
I have the same opinion
Please, this song is so good. Give it an amazing Music Video, it deserves it.
So was it good ?
@@Taxable_Trophy I didn't like a lot the previous animated music videos from this album, they looked too repetitive imo (specially Shadow Follows, even if the song is good).
But this one is far more elaborated, so yeah, good :p
@@UltraJericho I liked the artwork but I don’t really understand. Was this guy hallucinating everything because of dehydration and then died at the end cause of it?
@@blindfoldgang7161 i guess so...
My interpretation is that this video represents that the guy falls for the traps and the temptations every time, despite hurting himself or something bad happening every time he does it, every time hes in a hostile situation and sees some figure as a hope, a light in the end of the tunnel, that seduces him and make itself seem like its offering something too good to be true, then, yet again, he follows it and ends up being punished again, until one time it ends up finally killing him and "ending this war"
I could tottaly see it as an allegory to either alcohol addiction, being emotionally dependant of someone that hurts you, "not everything that shines is gold", or just temptation in general, wich i think is the most probable.
@@blindfoldgang7161 This video is a metaphor. It's about alcohol addiction. He's thirsty for liquid in the desert, like an addicted person thirsty for alcohol. His path is destructive, facing problems.
This sounds straight out from the Load era and I love it!! (More bass interludes please)
One of their best songs, on any album
*"LION SUPPLION THE NEED!!!"*
This is a bloody masterpiece 🤘The whole album is, to me the best music since the 80s. Total Metallica 🖤
*"LION SUPPLYLION THE NEED!!!!"*
Loving this and all the songs on the album, getting Justice vibes with harmonizing Guitar solo at 7:20 really really cool... A fan since 85...
The guitar harmony between James and Kirk is absolutely beautiful! Metallica has soul and heart! 🖤🤘🏼
I agree and the way Rob backs them is just as good in my opinion
This song is helping me through a confusing time in my life. I was able to relate to it, and it spoke to my situation. Thank you, MetallicA, for helping me get through this. Now I’ll be stronger than ever before. Heavy Metal wins again.
I really hope you're better now man, Metallica's music saves lifes. Keep struggling 💪💪
Yes I totally get your feeling ., took me a couple of times listening and now I can not stop playing it
I'm 53 and I still love listening to this group and I still all of their CD's okay and I still jam out too them alot okay let y'all knowwe love y'all okay
Metallica songs are designed for this whether they try that or not.
*"LION SUPPLION THE NEED!!!"*
9:54 this is when the solo gets really good. That double bass slaps hard
This song is fast becoming my favourite off of 72 Seasons, so far. An absolute masterpiece.
At least spell favorite correctly.
Meh
@@ClinicalDecisionYikesYT Nope. You spelled it wrong gringo
I have been a fan of Metallica for 20 years and could quite possibly say this track has to be one of the best tracks ever from the band it’s almost 12 mins of raw intensity
Me too I've thought that they would never top ride the lightning master of puppets and justice this song is probably the best song since master of puppets
Nah it isn't. Not close
It’s close to my favourite from the album but cross of barbed wire is currently number 1

It will. NEVER be played live, rob cant do the back up, and they dont want to use tape recording
@@metalpriest1 so you're telling me the lion won't be supplion the need?
@@metalpriest1Why can't he do the back Up?
Metallica is like a flower in a concrete jungle
This song evoked the same emotion that Orion and Master of Puppets did all those decades ago!!! Gut wrenching riffs and leads. Heart-felt vocals. No doubt Metalllica has been my favorite band since the 80s.
*"LION SUPPLYLION THE NEED!!!!"*
I think people really don't appreciate this song yet. I honestly believe it's their best work in the last 30 years.
@@thrash1337 Yep. Dont appreciate this crap at all.

Magikal!!!! Got to say after listening to each song once, this is the one that stuck out. Now after listening to the album more the others are coming into their own. This is not just any album, but an experience that must be allowed to work its way into your bones. Do hope the video does this tale of misery justice for all!
This song is spectacular, James' voice is sublime, the arrangements are incredible and the video is perfect for the song, Metallica always doing everything right
It sucks😂
@@Abdul-Amburadul Lmaoo you’re replying to every comment saying the song sucks
@@Abdul-Amburadul you sucks ! jaja

The guitar is killing me… beautiful!!!!
The thing I love most about this album is the way the instruments sound, the amplifiers, the drums, the bass, the vocals.
This song is a masterpiece. Who the f**k would had thought that Metallica would release their best music since the 80s in 2023? As a life long fan I get very emotional when listning to this album. It's a dream come true.
Dude I feel the exact same way
Dream come true! More like yet another nightmare. What a pile of utter garbage this album turned out to be. A boring remix album. same old everything that went wrong with Metallica.
@@michaelh7453 you look like a crappy dollar store version of Freddy Krueger's actor

i looked for the 6:40 comment 🤘
This might be my favorite song, changes everyday with 72 Seasons😄
This is insane how you feel you're in it by watching it
Easily one of their best songs ever made. Up there for me with Orion, Call of Chtulhu, The Outlaw Thorn and Fixxxer. Just to name a few I adore
Glad to see outlaw and fixxxer getting love. This is part 3 in my eyes to that saga. Love em all
@@ericcaudill9947also a spiritual successor to my friend of misery, mad underrated gem in the black album and this monster of a track brings back the same feela, chilling
Every time I listen to this song, there is no way 11 minutes goes that fast. But every time I've listened to it, it's same experience. Damn it's good.
This song is easily the best in the album, and one of the best they've made in years. James really found his vocal range in this album, and they play with fluidity and tenacity like they haven't in a while. It feels fresh and new, while feeling reflective and wise. This combined with this excellent video, very reminiscent of spiritual journeys, the reincarnation cycle, etc. I grew up listening to them, they're still the best
Lol…I am also Eric the Dad. Hi. 100% on your comment!
lars is the last of the greatest drummers still alive . protect him at all cost
I can listen this song a thousand times and still love it
I’ve never cried with any song. Metallica is my favorite band and I love them the same way I love myself, but no song has made me cry, even when I’ve seen them in concerts.
But
Less than a week ago I was driving back home, just after finishing rehearsaling with my band. And I played 72 Seasons in my car, and finally Inamorata arrived…
That final part of the song with that epic guitar melody/solo and Lars’ double bass made me cry for the first time ever with any song.
Inamorata, specially the ending, is just beautiful. Is pure passion, pure energy, pure Metallica.
Thank you Metallica with make my life shine with your music
Pure energy 👍👍👍👍
It makes me so glad that they made this song, especially since it’s almost 12 minutes long 😂
You haven't cried to Nothing Else Matters..?
I've cried with Fade To Black before and i don't remember if i cried with One. I think i also cried with Orion, when the bass solo hits. Outside of Metallica only Pantera's Flood solo and Fiction by Avenged Sevenfold made me cry. But Metallica are a special band, they will always be my favorite.
The official Music video of Inamorata could not have been to anyone but Jess Cope. I love all her works! And particularly I felt this Music video like a short film.
This song gets stuck in my head every time I listen to it. One of my top favorites from this album. 🤘🏻😊🤘🏻
My Fav off 72 Seasons
