I love Dr Hashmi. He brings it. His succinct video also covers a lot of ground.
Once you mention kidney stones you get my full attention, given my unfortunate history of kidney stones. Thank you for the information and taking the time to bring it to us kidney stones sufferers.
I am glad you found it helpful and I am so sorry you are suffering from kidney stones.
Thank you. Very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Truly evidence based medicine! Great video doc!
Thank you kindly!
My urologist, a kidney stone specialist at Duke University Medical System prescribed for me a potassium citrate medication. There are several forms of this, a large pill and an effervescent tablet called Effervescent-K. He said that research data indicates a TEN FOLD decrease in kidney stone formation rate. The mechanism for this strategy is twofold: alkalinizing the urine pH and increasing urine citrate concentration.
How many milligrams in your potassium pill ?
@@CalmVibesVee My Rx dose is 25 Meq of Potassium per tablet and I take 2 tablets per day
Moringa powder. GOD BLESS.
Thank you. My 24 hour urine calcium is over 500 and my ph is low 5s. PTH is normal and blood calcium normal. I would prefer not to take medicines like thiazides. What are possible ways to raise my urine pH and my urine calcium in addition to lower animal proteins. Does potassium bicarbonate help? Thanks for any other suggestions Doctor.
Thanks, as always.
Did I understand you correctly? That taking calcium citrate is a good thing? I eat a lot of dark leafy greens (especially spinach) daily but I also supplement with 150x2 daily calcium citrate. (I am osteopenic.) I have cut back on the supplements but your video makes me think I should now go back to 300x2 daily!!!
So, calcium citrate: good or bad?
know how much oxalate is the amount of spinach you eat

Could you tell us, what food(s) are high in calcium for diet in order to bind the oxalate calcium in our guts, Doc? What about peanuts, tofu, tempeh, and chicken eggs, are they dangerous for making kidney stones? Would you please tell us the reason?
Is ATP supplements bad for kidney disease please let me know. Thank you Corey
Most ATP supplements are just creatine with other stuff. It’s mostly fancy marketing.
when you mention sodium, I assume you mean sodium chloride as opposed to sodium bicarbonate? Thank you for the video and info!!
Yes. That is correct.
Which are more alkalizing on an equal adjusted molar basis, 3 mmol potassium bicarbonate or 1 mmol potassium citrate? Thanks.
Potassium citrate is always better than sodium or potassium bicarbonate for stone prevention
@@SELFPrinciple Will K3 citrate also make the urine more alkaline than K bicarbonate?
@@SELFPrinciple doc, is it okay to take potassium citrate every day? Thank you.
Is it possible if kidney is releasing protein in urine and one have traces of blood in urine…healed with medication
My Doc said 100oz fluids daily
I think that is about the same as 3L. I just bought a camelback water canteen that is 50oz so I am going to go for 2 of those per day with organic lemon juice.
Doctor, I am continually being unsubscribed from you by UA-cam. Just letting you know.
