    AT 57 I just STARTED drinking coffee for the first time in my life after the septic shock from kidney stone that damaged my kidneys and liver. One cup every morning to help my liver. 4 years later and all kidney and liver functions are normal

    Informative video. Caffeine also dehydrates so remember to drink 5-6 glasses of water for every cup of coffee you drink.

    It's interesting and I'm happy with these results bc I love ☕. The only thing I would emphasize is to get coffee that's organic and tested for mold and toxins bc that's the danger of coffee. Its often a reason why people get mold toxicity.

    • @TrentonTompkins
      @TrentonTompkins 2 місяці тому

      I've drank so much coffee in my life and never got "mold toxicity". Coffee needs to be wet to mold. Unless you are drinking week old cups of coffee, I don't think mold is a real problem. Even cheap brands are packaged correctly.

    Had a kidney stone way back in 1976 and have not had one since. Six months prior to the stone, I installed a sodium based water softener system for the entire house water supply. I read that water softeners remove the free calcium and magnesium ions from the water replacing them with sodium ions and this can cause the formation of kidney stones in a significant percentage of the population. I have been drinking a fair amount of coffee for many years since.

    My personal hypothesis is that:
    The scenario of persons in more chronic relative dehydration (stereotypical elderly in warmer environments, over dressed, relatively poor fluid intake), the diuretic coffee exacerbates their dehydrated state, thereby increasing the prevalence of stones.
    Conversely, in better typically hydrated cohorts the diuretic effect accounts for the decrease in incidence of stones.

      Thank you for the kind words. Citric acid is a stone inhibitor. We give patients potassium citrate or sodium citrate (less often due to sodium content). However, the simplest thing is to start adding lemons and limes to water and everything else 😀

      @@SELFPrinciple I should have asked, how many mgs per day of potassium citrate do you give patients?
      Also, can protinurea be caused by the hematoma which may result from kidney stones?
      Thank you again.😊

    • @SELFPrinciple
      @SELFPrinciple  2 роки тому +1

      @@acmebrainsurgery K Citrate really depends on a number of factors. Usually, its between 5meq three times a day to 10meq three times per day. But I base it on 24 hour urine collections. Also, hematuria can show up as both blood and proteinuria on a dipstick. However, we quantify proteinuria to help determine if its more from the tubules (2 grams) or overflow in the case of light chains (0.5-2gm)

    I drink 5 XL cups of coffee a day and have never had a kidney stone in my life. My thought is, as long as you also drink water (which I do), pissing all the time should (logically) decrease stone formation.

    Is instant coffee real ??? Good or bad?? On the other hand, those calciums that create stones are from real food like proteins,vegetables and fruits or are from industrial calcium used in processed food like milk, bread, juices, canned food, etc?? I heard too much industrial calcium also affect other part of your body when it get full. THANK YOU FOR UR VIDEO DOCTOR!!! It is very well done and instructive to see both side of the product. All very well but coffee is full of caffeine and if like me you suffer from high blood pressure coffee
    drinking unless its decaffeinated is a no no, so can I take it you can consume decalf safely without
    any risks and it would do the same regarding kidney stones.🤔

    I started drinking a couple cups in the morning and was diagnosed with my first stone about six months later. I was also eating a lot of nuts, protein, and dark chocolate, so I’m confused if coffee was a factor or not. I’ve since stopped eating nuts, chocolate, and high amounts of animal protein. Should coffee be eliminated as well?

    I've never had problems with Kidney Stones. Now at 72 (never smoked ,not a drinker I have found (after a CT scan) one small stone in my left kidney, and a larger stone that will need shock wave Lithotripsy in my right kidney. I guess I should have bought that Extended Warranty.

    What about adding sugar and milk or creamers to the coffee. I've been drinking it black 50 years but lots of those I know add things. I've never had a problem but I have a friend that has had a couple of bouts with stones while drinking 1 to 1.5 cups a day full of sweetener and creamer or milk. I am at about 5 cups black per day now. I started at around 2cups age 8 and increased over the years now age 64. Thanks

    It's depressing that the medical profession continues to use bivariate analysis and assumptions. It was demonstrated in the late 50s and early 60s that bivariate analysis was useless for understanding biological phenomena (no answer to cause and effect). The answer is to use multi-variate analysis. It takes more time and effort and better collection of data whereas bivariate analysis always shows a correlation but no cause and effect so it's easier to get results and more research money but not better answers to the questions.
