    Prior to 1970 normal blood pressure in America was said by the AMA to be 179 over 100!!! Then they gradually lowered it to sell medications.

    I had to watch the replay this time. This is the most comprehensive explanation about high blood pressure I have ever heard. And I learned a lot about this I never knew, especially about white coat syndrome and also the different medications. As always, thank you so much for doing this, Doctor!

    Thank you so much for taking the time to share this valuable information. I do take 1/2 Ranacand every day for my HBP but my doctor says if I exercise I would do much better. I am working on it because I want to get it under control. One of my problems is keeping the salt low because cooking for a household means the food must have taste and I think I need to lower the salt even if the others complain about the tasteless food. My health is more important.

      First the fact that you are already taking action is awesome!!! Great job. Keep up the good work! Remember progress over perfection. Yes, lowering salt is key but keep in mind salt is often hidden in labels. What we add in cooking is far less compared to packaged foods and eating out :)

      I posted several comments that directly referenced expert medical information that politely demonstrated that Dr. Hashmi's "Ultimate Guide" was far less than "ultimate", far less than complete with current standard-of-care information. Hashmi erased all comments. NPD. Look it up. What is, is. (Takes a nice photo though, don't he?)

    • @jojodbn
      @jojodbn 6 днів тому

      Here's one "radical" comment Hashmi censored: FYI: Adjunct 2 to Dr. Hashmi's "Ultimate Guide": Via KAGI search engine "Quick Answer" Summary of Sites, July 8, 2024: "The American Heart Association recommends taking 2-3 blood pressure measurements about one minute apart, and then using the average of those readings as the blood pressure value.[1][2] This helps minimize random errors and provide more accurate estimation of blood pressure. Home blood pressure monitors with automatic multiple readings, averaging, and smartphone connectivity appear to be a preferred technology for home blood pressure monitoring in 2024 based on the recommended best practices and available consumer products."
      There it is: what is, is. NPD. Look it up.

    Comment one-removed, second posting:
    Based on the available information, the first-line blood pressure (BP) medications recommended for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are:
    "Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs): These medications are indicated as first-line treatment for patients with CKD, especially those with evidence of proteinuria or albuminuria. They help protect the kidneys by reducing intraglomerular pressure and proteinuria. [1][2]"

    Who makes up this number? How much more money does big pharma make from tweaking these numbers up? Does everyone have the same numbers for high blood pressure? A 5 foot 90 pound woman same as a 6"6 250 pound man?

    • @gayedawn1
      @gayedawn1 8 днів тому

      They have been lowering the baseline for decades. More people to go on big pharma. The journal of the American Association, November 8,;2006, 296(18): 2217-2226 provided 48,000 case studies in heart failed patients in 259 hospitals that mortality was four times higher in people with systolic pressure of lower than 120 than those of 161 or over. We can take off 10 now from that baseline and how close to ⚰️ will we be than if we add to the 120 a little.

    Nuance, via KAGi search engine summary of sites:
    "According to the available information, the American Heart Association (AHA) has provided the following guidelines for normal or acceptable blood pressure for individuals over the age of 65:
    The AHA has updated their guidance to indicate that people age 65 and older should ideally have a blood pressure reading lower than 130/80 mm Hg (millimeters of mercury). [1]
    However, the guidelines also state that normal blood pressure for adults under the age of 65 is any blood pressure below 120/80 mmHg. [2]
    So, in summary, the AHA recommends a slightly higher target blood pressure range of less than 130/80 mmHg for individuals aged 65 and older, compared to the normal range of less than 120/80 mmHg for those under 65 years old. [1][2]"
    Why did you not mention, let alone make clear, this age-related BP differential (affecting millions of Americans) in your video, Dr. Hashmi? Why are you putting pressure on an elderly population to attain BP levels inconsistent with the AHA-established standard of care? How is this "evidence-based"?

  • @jojodbn
    @jojodbn 7 днів тому

    Questions for Dr. Hashmi: Inferior testing methods notwithstanding, are all arm-cuff makes and models similar in methods, technology, and accuracy? How do we find out? Are we to test everyday - or intermittently? Twice a day, every day - or just occasionally? Does the time-of-day of testing impact the test result? Should we test at the same time of day every day? What role, if any, does testing environment play in the test result? Keep logs - on paper or electronically? Why or why not?
    Lotta holes in this "comprehensive" BP video.

    Dr. Hashmi: if you reference, rely upon, comment, analyze, or depend upon the studies of others, why is it that you never list links to those studies so that your viewers can read those studies and judge for themselves? How is it fair to your viewers not to directly link? How is it "scientific" or "evidence-based" for you to expect your viewers to depend upon your naked assertions alone?

    Dr Hashmi GREAT great info as always. Stage 2 CKD here. You mentioned white coat. Have that BAD, always had that issue. Just a jumpy kind of guy overall. :) Life Style...walk EVERY day 2-3 miles....a tad of lifting light weights when I can. Mid 60's years old. Mostly BP is between 115/70-130-70sih. Mostly closer systolic to 120 systolic overall if no coffee......You did not mention "deep breathing?"...or something like that 4/7/8 breathing pattern . It DEF seems to lower BP significantly, and quickly most of the time, bu , wonder is that useful long term? or does it just lower BP for 5 minutes, and maybe a waste of time? Any tips on how to better control White Coat?.... Thanks so much for all you do.

    I apologize for any adverse comments I made concerning Dr. Hashmi removing my comments: I was wrong. Without input, my comments did in fact disappear, for some unknown reason, and only reappeared after I refreshed the sorting order. ??? However, I do stand by the thrust of my comments: Dr. Hashmi's presentation of the "Ultimate Guide to Healthy Blood Pressure" is woefully inadequate. Moreover, his consistent failure to list the medical studies and sites he relies upon is inconsistent with the professional and ethical standards maintained by others who claim medical expertise. Unacceptable. Unprofessional. This is how medical flimflammers present on UA-cam.

    Given that this AHA standard-of-care statement potentially affects thousands of your viewers over the age of 65, why did you not mention this CURRENT WELL-KNOWN AHA recommendation?
