Good review. My wife's Palisade is identical to yours. We also bought it last August, and test drove virtually every vehicle in this class first. Hands down this is the best one for the money, with the Telluride right there also. The transmission is amazingly smooth, and the engine is very responsive - it is really easy to exceed the speed limit without trying!
Very nice Sahil! There’s no car review better than one done by an owner! Glad to hear you’re happy with the Palisade and you’ve definitely got a great vehicle 😁👍
Well done Sahil. This is like a professional review, very detailed. I am impressed with the way video was shot especially when giving exterior likes 👍🏻
Good review, I just purchased the 2021 Palisade Limited, in the U.S. It’s probably the equivalent of your model, just below the Calligraphy. Unfortunately, the bench rear seat wasn’t available, at all in the Limited and that’s really my only miss. I use to have folding mirrors on my 2019 CX-9, which I traded in for the Palisade and after having a few issues with the powered folding mirrors, I’m not too upset about it not being an option. It’s a wonderful vehicle to drive and I saved $480 a year on my insurance due to its great safety features. That’s a true win.
I’m glad you are liking your Palisade. In Canada, the top trim was called ‘Ultimate’ for the 2020 model. Hyundai replaced the top ‘Ultimate’ trim with ‘Calligraphy’ for the 2021 model. Great review. Recently purchased a 2022 Palisade Calligraphy AWD; there are still some areas for product improvement: add power folding exterior side mirrors, add sunglass holder in interior and add illumination for the overhead light buttons above driver and front passenger (the POI buttons are illuminated but the light buttons aren't, that's odd and an omission in form/function) and those rims on calligraphy trim are a bit 'loud', design something more classy the ones on current and previous Limited trim); and last but not least, consider adding hybrid powertrain as is offered on many other Hyundai products.
The electric seat extender button on the drivers seat doesn't extend the seat enough for me, a 5'7" woman or my hubby 6"5" I wish it extended the seat more. I also seem to be having problems with the auto/safety braking system. I disable it then save my setting, but it seems to reset each time I start the car and the auto-braking is back. I'm not a fan as I'm a pretty aggressive driver. I agree with you about the ugly wheels on the Calligraphy. We own the 2021 Limited and it has everything the Calligraphy has except the "furry" headliner. Nice video, thanks.
You nailed it Sahil! I have had mine for over a year and could not be happier, and I have owned a lot of more expensive SUV's (some more than double the price) and this car beats them all.

Good review. your accent makes it a bit interesting. Don't worry, i will not ask you about the fuel economy on the Ford "Exploder" LOL good review though seriously. I had a 2018 expedition lease I turned in and thinking about the Calligraphy as a potential replacement. However, i wish they would have included power side folding mirrors. It seems that parking spots are getting smaller as more people buy SUV'S. At least it has a 360 degree camera unlike my expedition. How is your fuel economy?
Hi Steve, The auto-folding mirrors is surely a miss. Surprisingly, it’s offered on the Korean and Australian model of the Palisade. Even the North American version of new Hyundai Santa Fe has auto folding mirrors. The 360 degree camera resolution in the Palisade is better than the new Ford Explorer. For fuel economy, I get about 12L/100 km in the city’s stop-n-go traffic, and about 8L/100km on highway. That’s similar to what most of the Palisade users have reported. The Hybrid Highlander is the only 3-row SUV that returns a significantly better fuel economy. Hope that helps. I’m sure you’ll like the Palisade if you end up getting that. :)
I just got a 2021 Palisade SEL. I feel like when I lay off gas the car feels like it's breaking and it slows down a lot more than what I think it should. Is anyone else having this experience? Thanks
Nothing out of the ordinary for me. If you are coming off a smaller vehicle, then maybe that’s why you feel it (as Palisade is a heavier vehicle than the average sedan/crossover SUV). It’s always good to make a trip to the Hyundai service if you feel something’s wrong.
@@unfoldingthebasics351 yes I was thinking the same about getting it looked at. And yes I'm used to a Subaru Forester that just glides when I lay off the gas.
In my opinion, Financing makes more sense if you want to keep the vehicle for more than 2-3 years. Some people go for leasing for a new model vehicle like the Palisade (as there’s not much data on the long term reliability), and then they decide to buy-out at the end of the lease term (if the vehicle has run well, and shows good reliability). This vehicle has been out for almost 1.5yrs now…and no major issue has been highlighted yet. The engine and transmission have been doing fairly strong across the Palisade customer base. Plus Hyundai’s 5yr bumper-to-bumper & 10yr transmission warranty relieves much stress around any long term reliability issues, and thus makes it a great financing choice. I chose the financing option for my Palisade. My previous vehicle Nissan Rogue was on a lease. Hope that helps.
Thanks you for your insight. Did you face any issues when returning your leased Nissan rouge? How close you were to the annual kilometre allowance? It’s just pocket that pushes to lease and mind to finance.
No issues while returning my Nissan Rogue. I was fairly under my allocated km allowance. I keep very good care of my vehicles, no scratches/dents, super clean all around…so that helped as well I guess while returning. The inspection lasted only 30 seconds.
I have a 2021 Palisade Calligraphy and I love it but you missed the most aggravating ones. If you mute the radio when you turn off the car, when you restart the car the radio will no longer be muted. The transmission drive selection will not stay in the one you selected the next time you start the engine unless you left it in "Comfort" . The "Auto off" defaults to factory setting every time you start the car and if you don't like having the engine turn off every time you come to a stop, you have to remember to inactivate that function every time you start the car. The same is true for recirculating the cabin air. Basically what I am saying is that all these functions SHOULD REMAIN where they were when you shut the car off. Then, the "easy exit" feature should be programmable for each of the 2 driver selections. Then the buttons on the dash show fingerprints like crazy. Then there is a dead spot (dark area) in the headlights due to how they are recessed. Then, they audible alarm indicating you have left your lane is too sensitive and will alarm when you are actually in the middle of your lane. There are a few more but I can't think of them at the moment. It is however a very very nice vehicle.
Appreciate the detailed comment. 😊 Few of the points you mentioned here are surely a miss by Hyundai, hopefully those are easy fixes in the next year model. However, I didn’t include those in my review as those didn’t really impact my driving/living experience with the Palisade. 😊 You might want to recheck a couple things- - The transmission drive selection: Only the Sport mode needs to be selected again every time. The rest (Eco, Smart, Comfort) remain the same at every engine restart. I drive in Smart mode all the time, and never have to select it again and again. - Auto off default setting concern: I think it’s the same with most of the vehicles, not just the Hyundai Palisade. Lane departure warning- My experience has been great with this feature, never had a false alarm. I’ve driven Nissan and Ford SUVs quite a lot, and In my experience Hyundai Palisade’s lane departure warning/Lane keep works the best. You are right- it’s a really nice vehicle overall. I love the unique front grille design on your Calligraphy! 😊
First of all, you have to do a bit more research on why such "features" are always changed back to their default settings. 1) Volume setting is remembered (i.e. how loud it is) however muting is not a volume setting but rather turning off the volume altogether. 2) "Comfort" mode is the most optimal driving experience because it offers a balance ride with normal behavior. 3) "Auto off" reduces engine idle when the car is not moving which is good for your fuel efficiency and also the environment. 4) Cabin air recirculation can automatically turn off as a result of a feature called Automatic Ventilation. I believe this setting can be disabled. All of your "most aggravating issues" are just how they work by-design and it is logical to me why Hyundai went this way.
@@LamNguyen-sr1sy No sir I don't have to do more research. I know I don't like liver and onions and I know that without research. I don't like the issues with my Palisade Caligraphy that I mentioned. I know what I like and what I don't like. I appreciate your effort to justify the features but it doesn't change my mind.
@@unfoldingthebasics351 Yes and thank you for pointing out my mistake about driving mode switching back to comfort mode. The lane departure appears to be solved by the replacement of one camera and adjustment of another. I haven't had the issue since.
@@rumbleseat1 I wasn't trying to change your mind, why would I want to do that? I respect your opinions and wanted to add more details on the reasoning behind the design elements. Many people don't like one-way streets however such infrastructure design exists for a reason.
I’m in Canada. This is the ‘Luxury’ trim, one below the top trim. In Canada, the trims are different- Calligraphy, Luxury, Preferred, Essential In US, the trim line is different- The 2020’s top trim was Limited, 2021’s top model is Calligraphy.
A lot of people are complaining about excessive wind noise in the Palisade. Have you experienced this? Otherwise I could purchase this vehicle. Power folding mirrors would have made it the perfect SUV. I'm even starting to like the front end looks, which I hated when I first saw the Palisade.
The front end grows on you for sure. I haven’t has any wind noise issue at all. I’ve joined Hyundai Palisade owner forums on FB...with almost 3-4k members. Some customers posted questions/voting asking if others have had wind noise issues. A very few people reported any wind noise issue- less than even 5%. Rest reported no issues at all.
@@braddruehl6786 They haven’t fixed it. It’s just some vehicles from the same assembly line can have this issue. But no official fix yet announced by Hyundai for the affected Palisades. But like I said- a very high majority of customers don’t have this issue.
As owner of early2020 palisade SEL. Issues so far…37kmi 1. Extreme wind noise - recall fixed 2. Noise like a diesel sound on start up - normal no fix 3. CV shaft right inner clunks - to be fixed at next service 4. Remote start works intermittently - unable to diagnose 5. No other issues - interior tech works perfect Not a bad car but Lease this car , buy a Toyota
Toyota doesn't have anything of this size with similar features at the same price range. The Toyota Highlander is the closest competitor however it has really small third-row and cargo space.

Leasing or financing, which is worth in terms of financial economics considering this vehicle. Which one do you choose?

I have a 2021 Palisade Calligraphy and I love it but you missed the most aggravating ones. If you mute the radio when you turn off the car, when you restart the car the radio will no longer be muted. The transmission drive selection will not stay in the one you selected the next time you start the engine unless you left it in "Comfort" . The "Auto off" defaults to factory setting every time you start the car and if you don't like having the engine turn off every time you come to a stop, you have to remember to inactivate that function every time you start the car. Few of the points you mentioned here are surely a miss by Hyundai, hopefully those are easy fixes in the next year model.
However, I didn’t include those in my review as those didn’t really impact my driving/living experience with the Palisade. 😊
You might want to recheck a couple things-
- The transmission drive selection: Only the Sport mode needs to be selected again every time.

Very nice !
Thank you👍
Good job brother
Excellent 👍👍👍
ur two missing point i love
1) electric folding mirrors
2) 2 or 3 seats in 2nd row
What trim level is this one? Limited?
I’m in Canada.
This is the ‘Luxury’ trim, one below the top trim.
In Canada, the trims are different-
Calligraphy, Luxury, Preferred, Essential
In US, the trim line is different- The 2020’s top trim was Limited, 2021’s top model is Calligraphy.
Excellent
@@unfoldingthebasics351 Thanks...good to know. Maybe Hyundai has fixed the wind noise problem.
@@braddruehl6786 They haven’t fixed it.
It’s just some vehicles from the same assembly line can have this issue.
But no official fix yet announced by Hyundai for the affected Palisades.
But like I said- a very high majority of customers don’t have this issue.
@@unfoldingthebasics351 Thanks.....encouraging news.
The only dislike that I have with my calligraphy is the color. The moonlight cloud color is very dark. It looks black. No hint of blue whatsoever.
Yea…I’ve heard that feedback from a lot of moonlight cloud owners.
Glad you love the rest of it! 😊
Nice video thanks
Nice
Good
Yeah I don’t get it why this vehicle doesn’t come with auto folding. It’s easy programming
Harika bir otomobil. Keşke benim olsa!
As owner of early2020 palisade SEL. Issues so far…37kmi
1. Extreme wind noise - recall fixed
2. Noise like a diesel sound on start up - normal no fix
3. CV shaft right inner clunks - to be fixed at next service
4. Remote start works intermittently - unable to diagnose
5. No other issues - interior tech works perfect
Not a bad car but Lease this car , buy a Toyota
Toyota doesn't have anything of this size with similar features at the same price range. The Toyota Highlander is the closest competitor however it has really small third-row and cargo space.
This is the perfect example of how Hyundai is dethroning the German brands.
but i love dual sunroof
Not available in india
Yep, planned for 2023 launch in India.
Good
