Busting up Borders Cornerstone Borders

- Hi all,
Today we are doing borders with cornerstones. I love this method because I think it's the easiest of the 3. We have nothing to connect for the most part and it's all about just fitting in the design between your cornerstones. I also go through turning the quilt and setting up the final two borders. I show you a little trick when creating edge to edge designs, sometimes some play can have some fun results. In the last part of the video, I also show what can happen if you lean on the bars through any of the processes of stitching out your design.
I hope you like and as and always, please Like, Subscribe, and hit the Bell,
Happy Quilting,
Adam
AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT'S JUST QUILTING
Just great!! I had asked a question on another video and didn't word it so you understood what I was asking but you answered this time.!!
I purchased the zippers after your video and I love them.
I also use red snappers some also.
Gosh I love this video. Thank you!
Thanks Adam!!!!!
Hi Adam,
Thank you for a great video.
Wishing you and Ben a wonderful weekend…how ever you celebrate.
Stay safe.
Great video! I learned so much! I agree about your magnetic side clamps.
Side clamp video will be out Friday.
Yes, please do a video on your magnet side clamps, I was going to ask it you were using Sew Tites there. This video is so full of great tips and how to do borders, it is fabulous. It almost makes me want to put something together so I can practice what you have shown, when I normally just do e2e. This series has been so informative, thank you for my continuing educational opportunities. Enjoy your holiday and again thank you.
Hello! Just a fast note to say how much I enjoy the content on your channel. I have had a busy and crazy day in my sewing room but now I'm get to watch your video! I hope you have a happy Easter weekend ahead! Thank you for posting is video and your expertise.
I've been watching some of your videos. You are always on the go.
Followed you and finished my quilt in a jiffy. Used PS block design for cornerstones and turned the quilt to complete the side borders! Great tip! Thanks.
Very, very, new longarmer here! Your videos are sooo very helpful!! Thankyou for explaining things over and over for us that know very little! Please consider showing how you made your sew tite clamps.
The clamp video will be out Friday April 29th, I just finished editing it.
Adam! This was great! Thank you! Btw, I had a laugh when you said you were leaning on the bars. I guess I didn’t yell loud enough on your last video about that. 😂🤣
I new hear you every time I find I am doing it LOL
Hi Adam. I love watching your videos and I learn so much from them. THANK YOU! I was wondering if you used a dark thread on the back and light on the front. I’ve heard you say that you always use the same color for both. I just finished a quilt with light on top and dark on bottom and it turned out fair but there were a few pulls on corners and center points on the back. Just wondering as it looks like you used a darker on the back.
When quilting a top with multiple borders is it best to start with the innermost border or start with the outermost border?
Outstanding video. Thank you sew much!!
One question though. Is it better to quilt the borders first after stabilizing the center. Or, does it matter?
It will be whatever you prefer. I always do the top, then my center, then the bottom and turn to do the final two sides.
Hi Adam,
Your videos are great, thank you.
When you did the cornerstones, could you have rotated the right-hand side, so that they were symmetrical? (Sorry, I like symmetry!) 🙀🙀
Yes, always remember, it’s your quilt and you get to do what you want.
Curious why you didn't just take the first (top) cornerstone and center design and flip them 180 and resize as needed to stitch out the bottom border and cornerstones?
This is just the way I do it. That would be another way that would also work.
This is a great series and reinforces that I'm doing it correctly! One question - does the pin less when you're turning apply when you aren't using zippers ? Is it just pin less because it's mostly quilted and you're turning it, or is it pin less all the time ? Thanks!
When I am using zippers I leave about an inch or a little more between pins. I was told if you put in too many, then the zipper will pucker. When I'm pinning onto the leader, I have about a fingers width between the pins. When I am turning, I don't use as many pins either way because everything is either quilted or basted down, so I just need to get the thing loaded.
