Nancy is continuing the Great Basics quilt with this tutorial to work on the borders. Catch the other episodes Nancy did for this series on the OnPoint-TV UA-cam channel.
The quilt has cornerstones and side borders. The top is complete with the nine patch blocks, setting squares, setting triangles and corner triangles. The stripes on the setting triangles and corner triangles bump up the uniqueness of the quilt.
Nancy spray sizes the quilt with Mary Ellen's Best Press and presses it flat and as square as possible. Then she goes to the next step of adding the borders.
This quilt has cornerstones so Nancy doesn't have to put one border on at a time. It makes it a little easier.
Join Nancy next time as she does the backing, the batting and the basting of the quilt.

I am so thrilled to have found your videos. I've been a quilter for many years, taking a break here and there. Your videos will take my quilting experience to the next level. I was looking for instructions for setting squares, triangles, and corners for a quilt I'm currently working on. I started on Great Basics 5. After I finish I will review your videos from the start. Thank you Janet from Murrieta Ca.

I'm so glad I found you when I did. I've power watched many of your videos and refer back to some when needed. I'm from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and no one in my family has quilted since my great grandmother that past away when I was a child. So everything I'm learning is from the ladies and gentlemen of UA-cam. I'm working on my very first quilt and having to break it down into quilting the center first then adding the borders. I'm using my domestic Brother and the quilt will end up being a queen. Thank you very much for doing the videos. They are so helpful. 😊

Thanks for the kind works and for watching!
Doing a pieced boarder is a very specific task depending on the border and the quilt center. Spray sizing it will ALWAY be a good idea through. Sometimes you might even need to add an inner border to make the quilt center the correct size.

Hi :) - the "scant" is what allows the fabric to be pressed over the thread and keep the construction accurate. In garment making this tiny bit isn't an issue but in quilt piecing where many blocks with seams need to all come together to make the blocks the correct size it is necessary. Hope this helps - Nancy
