For a great Vw Channel check out : Slades Vw - ua-cam.com/users/SladesVWBeetle . Thank you Guys , have a great week 👍
The good news is, I've learned more about VW's in a year watching Jason and Mustie than I've learned in the other 54 years of my life. The best part is, I haven't spent a dime. Well except going commercial free UA-cam, well I have spent any on that yet., 4 month free trial. Pull a motor 2 hours, try to get it run in the vehicle days. Lol
I have to admit I come back to this partly due the the house it must have been beautiful in it's day!
Great effort on the vehicle and a lot of worthwhile effort on shooting and the edit. We appreciate it out here.
I had such empathy for you when your new beetle started shedding rust and falling apart as it did. Been there done that. But eventually you get down to the good metal and start rebuilding from there! Always satisfying. I wish we all lived closer to one another so that we could come running when help is needed! Great video!
Yep - when a job is kicking my ass and annoying me, the best solution is to leave it and come back at it fresh the next day - suddenly it's not so difficult.
That must have looked great in that colour conbination when new... 👍
oh i walked away from that car plenty lmao ...thus no vid for 2 weeks lol
You falling through the floor had me in tears!! 😂😂😂
Thanks for the shout out brother! Maybe I can stop by and help out soon! =)
let me clear a spot before u tear it to pieces :)
A match made in heaven.
that fall threw the floor u cant make up stuff like that ..lol great vid!!!
I had to laugh at the washer diving into the oil pool. I can relate oh so well. Too often to admit really. Thanks for all the great content. I met slades a few weeks ago great guy and like yourself adds a lot of value to the VW community. Keeps the videos coming!!
So I had a ‘70 Beetle back in the early ‘80s as my daily driver. The engine was “rebuilt” just prior to my buying it. Due to this questionable rebuild I had to remove and reinstall that engine so many times over my 5ish year ownership, that I could remove and reinstall in less than 2 hours each way. In a single car garage with nothing but a couple of jack stands and a NAPA hydraulic jack. Good video and good luck with this one.
Wow, great save!!! Thanks for sharing and looking forward to more great videos.
thank you Wade , much appreciated
Omg!! Thank you so much for the shout out, and that’s a sexy T-shirt you’re wearing. 😁
That was very nice of you my friend I truly appreciate it. Let me finish watching the video now lol
Oh man, you went through the floor and Heather got freaked out 😳😁
I never had a gen screw that tight 🥺
Ohhhhhh parts!!!! You got this!!
Looks like my front beam 🤦🏼♂️
Wow!! No one got hurt! That’s the main thing!
What??? That will Buff right out man. Lmao The Dizzy One.
So Jason, I watched to the very end on the Mammoth Struggle Bus, er, uh, I mean Beetle. I saw you gingerly lowering the convertible top, being very careful not to break anything. Saw that you became very grounded with the project as you went through the rear floorboard. Things were broken during the making of this video, but you saved it all. I mean it was awesome when you went Topless at the very end. Hehehehe. Thanks for taking us along on the journey!!! God bless, take care and just keep on keeping on cause you will get there because not all days are as bad as this one appeared to be :)> . John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
Perfect timing falling through the floor of that bug lol. Cool to see you in a Slades shirt.
haha, luckily the car was basically on the ground . You will probably see more of it , one of the few shirts I own that fits these days . I ordered a coffee mug too👍
@@5150mxVW Yeah, that could have been bad if it where up high. I feel the shirt fitment lol I'm trying to get back down to fit in my clothes..lockdowns got me messed up haha.
Loving this series. Sorry I gotta say I laughed when you went through the floor! Poor ol girl just wants to sleep but we know you won't let that happen!
Thank you for making it possible for me to live vicariously through these videos doing what I want to do more than anything! Maybe someday but until then these videos keep me sated and my pockets full!
Hats off for giving Slade a shout out, very cool buddy.
Jason: Don't force it, we don't want to break anything...
Me: As you fall through the floor.
Watching this in Kidsgrove, just north of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, during Storm Eunice. I've witnessed a different sort of roof come down today but this was the best one and so rewarding to watch. So glad you've released another update, I was waiting all week for this. Just subbed and keep the great work coming.

That Bug is Toast. But if you have time and money, you can bring almost any car back from the scrapyard.
I had a 70 model FV it had a little racing stripe. Great little car. Miss those Beetles
She’ll be a runner
I don’t know what the best time for pulling a VW engine is but when I was working on them full time I won a bet by doing a clutch /pressure plate/ throw out bearing from starting the car ,driving into the garage , driving it out done in less than 30 min. 😄🎩
I had a non convertible 69 bug back in 1981 or so. Dropped a valve. (Which ever valve was the common one that would drop. Sold it to a buddy. Lots of good memories during the time I owned it.
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
That’s super cool of you to shout out Slade’s channel.
I love how you laugh when something goes wrong. I guess that’s all we can do right
UK checking in 🇬🇧👌
UK ! 👍
The effort you put into these cars is absolutely amazing, and it's getting me really exited to do my first restore with my dad.
Just like Rocky from VGG! A left, then a right, knock down. Maybe it was doomed from the start. But we have resilience! And warmer days are coming. I look forward to the engine rebuild as well as the body repair. ✌️
That "new" car engine is amazing in its complete-ness. That thermostat-to-air preheat flap cable is a tough one to find if needed. And, 1970 is a great year for a vert driver. Doesn't have the panache of the earlier cars, but is so much nicer to drive than both the early and later VW stuff.
Also, my personal best for a solo engine drop is 19 minutes. But I was in my early 20's, and it was a split bus, so it was way easier than a later beetle. You might consider pulling the engine and trans together. Not so bad with an IRS trans.
Sorry to see that Westy roof get torn off. At least you found it back.
Another good video. Thanks for doing the work for our enjoyment.
I recomended the mammoth name LOL Thats all I could think of when you were chiseling it out. My first car was a 1973 super beetle, love these cars.
Cup of coffee and 5150mxVW video, priceless
Thank you for the laugh going through the floor, glad your ok.
Excellent video Jason :) some vechiles put fight to fix and been there too ! But hopefully seeing more videos got planned to do and you enjoy weekend too!
Dear 5150mx VW Jason.
👍👌👏 Maaaan, you are a really great, brave and hilarious guy! It was the perfect moment to have your special break through (after the battery had her "coming out" already 2 episodes before). I'm sure that your great little petrolhead son Josh would've laughed his head off (and maybe has done exactly that after watching the vid). By the way: The hilariously funny "father and son head lamp trim ring fell off laughing video part" is still one of my favourites. It's a 5150 classic and so will this break through be too.
2) Unfortunately Murphy's law hit you several times. Additionally: Dubwerks wasn't really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the remains of your mammoth. It's kinda lookin' like the ones they dug out of the Tundra in Siberia. Unfortunately a lot of substance is missing.
3) It's great that you rescue so much old vehicles and try to find a new home for them.
As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health to all of you.
Post Scriptum: I'm very glad that no human was harmed. Neither while the break through, nor while losing roof parts of the old VW camper van.
Hey Jason - if you don't want that cable, I'll buy it from you. It's a one year only item. If you're not a purest then you won't need it! Love your vids!!!
The only reward on this beetle is making, keeping, and sharing the video
Crusty very crusty! Loving this series of vids, i don't think I've seen you work so hard before!
It always gets worse before it gets better, it definitely found the right man for the job! Keep up the good work brother!
I love the sound of crunchy canvas in the afternoon.
Oh how fun….🤣 Always fun with 5150! Can’t wait til the next vid!
thank you !
Before we break anything! Famous last words...
The absolute best entertainment on UA-cam! 🤣🤣👍👍
Thank you so much 5150mxVW as always make my day!
Some are harder than others!
But all can be conquered!😁
I am surprised that we have not seen you rip one in half yet!😆
Keep on saving em!✊
:))))👍
The dub will come around, bit by bit. 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Watching from Derbyshire in England 🏴 , really enjoy your videos, have a great weekend guys 👍🏻😃
Lols Jason even I was cold watching you mate.you need heatage like Mustie. He’s fixing stuff in T-shirt’s Huge that’s for giving Slades a shout. What a great guy and some really informative videos.
"I love these new cars!" 🤣😂
pain in my a$$ these new complicated ones lol
Looking forward very much for the rebuild video!
Love the Slade shirt. Yes regroupe. Look fwd to it
In my younger days I did a clutch replacement in my 66 bus in 42 minutes.
Shows us the box of EMPI parts he wants to put on this 'vert and wonders why the car is fighting him so hard ;)
HAHA , engine re-seal kit , come on lol
Was just checking your channel for a fresh upload bud. You rock.
thank you , much appreciated Mark, have a great weekend
Great video mate
Love your videos from San Antonio TX area. Have owned several VW's over the years, looking to purchase a bus asap.
Great video, as always.
thank you, much appreciated
I can see it now. I have the VISION! You can do it. You're gonna make it with this car - DUST OFF 2022. :)
Great video, have a great weekend man😁☺️

Thank you my friend☺️
Great way to start the morning👌
thank you DR , nice wagon👍
Hang in there. Tomorrow will be another day. Best wishes!
I love VW!!!! My favorite car!!!!
Checking for mustie1 and CT in the comments . Keep going Jason 😊🇬🇧
I think "inspiration" was the word you were looking for!
First time viewer an I’m loving the Extreme detail cleaning/ Fix up + I’m learning so much. When I saw you fall through the car trying to get the hood to go back 🤣🤣🤣
Good effort Jason, Shame the car is being so difficult. Are you planning on recovering the other cars from the old building?
Thanks , yes i will be back for the others
Great that you get the others as well, are they different models?
Wow that is a fight!
YA GOTTA BODY SLAM THAT TOP SON!!!👍
No harm to the hood luckily in this video but the floorpans and Jason leg was !! Keep going Jason 👍 Andy /vwcoco uk
I stand by my original statement, when the body tag falls off, you run away.
but it had a key lol
Dont give up please. God bless
Another wonderful episode in VW Bug existential reality. I like how you try to find a 'vision' for a vehicle. How does this 2021-22 winter rank up there? Would this be a contender as a Winter of Your Discontent? Thanks Jason, and others who made this episode possible.
Great editing . The wooly blue mammoth will succumb to your commands.
I appreciate it Bill , many , many hours go into such a short , simple film ....i sure hope so :)
Inspiration
Amazing how original that engine is. Looks like distributor and carb still original, along with throttle positioner as well. Hope you did not destroy that preheat cable to the air cleaner. Those are extremely rare these days! Shame about the rust, but probably pretty average for your area. Nice front beam... Seventeen cars is a nice number. I currently have 16 but still would like at least one more...
Yes, it looks to be a very org. car ...I used the dremel on the tiny screw and was able to remove it properly . 17 is a nice # but that's just Vw's ...does not include the dozen American classics and trucks🤦♂️. If you have 16 you know sometimes you may wish you had one :).
Take the Fabric off much easier then the bows and fasteners I made bows for convertibles cut the clutch cable safer than having it snap- sorry about the westy losing the roof Ouch!!!: (
Wow, this bug has serious disintegration problems. Still, a lot of hard work getting it to this point!
Hi, im from uruguay, great video and amazing car, i love it. New sub men!
I understand about the tail light, some times the smallest things can help you see better.
When you are OCD, things like that help clear the mind.
Showing the bug some love that engine has probably never been out
Very nice video
thank you MV
Looks good
"We don't wanna break anything...." Famous last words! Dang, that was too funny.
🤣 , that was pretty funny :)
There’s your problem Jason! You’re using PB! This is clearly a Liquid Wench kinda VW. Maybe is you put the whole car in an ultrasonic cleaner it’ll fight less. Got a hot tub full of carb cleaner?
It`s mint! Well almost.......
but it is Blue😄
you make great videos of VW cars and buses
thank you for the kind words
@@5150mxVW your welcome thanks for the great videos
Dude I dont know which is worse, your convertible or the one i just dragged home!! Hahaha Hang in there bud, spring is right around the corner!!!!
It's like you should get a tall can of that wide-spray WD40 and just drench the motor the night before you decide to start wrenching on them to get them started.
Not good at all . . . . . . . and I really like it so much. Try not to give up man, but you will be forgiven if you do. Stay strong and thanks for keeping us in the loop. Best !!
Appreciate the video
appreciate you droppin' in
I always try to say something good about very entertaining videos. That new taillight lens looks great! I am very impressed by how still Jen holds the camera while you work. Does she help with scripting the dialog? Thanks for sharing!
It was napping nicely with its buddies, now it has to fight the world with the rest of us! Play it "Back to the front" from Metallica, extra loud, and whip it back into Teutonic service .
There's always gotta be a car that kicks your arse. When its a runna you'll forget all the evils that happened.
👍 keep on pursuing to the next stop, take a left headed to the next block
Kept on pursuing to the next stop
Beat me to it..
If you can’t get it working…Mustie1 will always have a go. Lol.
heck yeah he would , but we all know the outcome if he shows up lol
Jason, you are a glutton for punishment! This particular series has me day drinking.
yes , yes I am
Vanilla ice reference
Don't let it Beat you
Fight back 😂
:)
The patience of a saint.......
It’s never so bad that it can’t get worse! Hang in there…
haha :)
Hey man I had the same happen to my Bus, I have some great photos of the repair process. You can repair it! Thanks for the great content.
I have a recollection that 10 minutes is the record for dropping a bug engine but that has probably been beaten. Jason you have your subscribers for moral support so don't get too down on yourself. If you look at the positives most of the upper body looks OK, I mean it is surprising that any of the floors are left. It was In the ground and at the bottom of a hill so plenty of scope for water to flow. I am positive you will succeed with that engine so keep plugging away at it. Me I'm getting old, in my 60's with health issues but I have always been a glass half full kind of person. We all love your sense of humour and the way you present your videos so keep them coming please. BTW I would aim for 16 vehicles sounds much better. 👍👍👍👍😁
