- Today we pull a 1958 Volkswagen Beetle that has been sitting in abandoned barn since 1987. 35 years later we will be getting this car ready for it's first start and first drive in years!

That’s a 59. The radio antenna is on the left side.
My 58 has the antenna on the right side.

58-59 beetles had two year only interiors. Those door cards are uber special. Please don’t swap them out. Find some original 58-59 seats and maintain that super rare interior. Agave green exterior with the dark green rag and the two tone green/gray interior will look AMAZING!

Red is my favorite color but, I have to agree with Jeff Bannon, keep the original door cards. What a find Jason, love this VW!
In my dreams I will own an old Beetle again.
I was at a red light light yesterday and what I think was a green Super Beetle stopped at the light at the left on the road crossing the one I was on. I opened my window, gave them a big thumbs up, and yelled "Thumbs up! Yeah baby!!". They smiled back.
it's always so exciting to find a truely desireable barn car.
This ragtop is a sweet car!
i think it's even more desireable then a full cabriolet.
Car auction drama can be a real pain in the ass, but having good friends around to help haul your trash/treasure makes it worth the battle. Nice score on this one. Gotta love ragtop beetles.

What a find! I am always rooting for you to happen upon a "barn find" that is not a pile of rust with a frozen engine. Excited to see what you do with this one. I will never forget the twin 1958 bugs that my two older brothers bought new. The only difference was Continental (Michelin?) tires vs Dunlops.

Parked on a wooden floor in a dry building saved that car! It's like being in a box of desiccant! Did you get permission from Mustie1 and vwnut 1967 to hunt VW in New Hampshire? Will you have to pay them sales tax, even though there is no state sales tax in NH? Hanging out with you must be like life in a cartoon- very colorful and action packed! Thanks for the great videos.

At last I got my computer working to add a comment. Again, love the '58. I really enjoy these videos and I'll tell you why. Firstly you remain yourself, not trying to make things prettier than they are. So you make mistakes and you leave those in the video, collapsing cameras and all. It makes it all very familiar and human. I also like the fact you don't add music tracks to your clips - unless you're on the road and you want to show scenery, that works very well. All in all it might all look clumsy at first glance, but the use of the camera, and the editing just makes the clips an enjoyable watch. It's also nice to see regular people doing regular stuff.

yeah you know my "production team" does a pretty good job at " faking " all these finds 🤣...I haven't seen one of those comments one this one yet and it's one of the cleanest i've pulled!
@@5150mxVW I wasn't implying in any way that this was fake. I was just joking about there being a bug fairy up there. There are still a lot of hidden treasures to be found. Just have to put the leg work in to find them.

58, best year (and my favourite year) for the Beetle IMHO.
I had a 58, had all its original panels Inc its 4 tab bonnet, came from Sweden. Stupidly sold it and miss it every day.
Shame the seats are missing, but it looks really good. Goes to show there are some good ones left out there!

hey CC, I am staying with the OG interior just stuffing the red seats in. I did find an org agave green 4 tab hood .....the winner took the bus and split parts and sold me the 58 and gave me the ghia.

I have another 58 ragtop in the heard, it's blue. It is really easy to push as it has serious weight reduction but has a running 36er :)
