I'm 56 and have rescued a few hundred VWs and other cars and trucks from the woods, desert, farms and junk yards, just like you're doing. It kicks one's ass after awhile. I'm still after a couple of buses in Nevada that I'll go get eventually. Like you, I carry two drum-puller kits; a cheap Chinese made puller and a Blue Point puller. The Blue Point is the way to go. Keep at it, as you're keeping me inspired.🙂👍
But it's people like you folks that save these rusting VWs for restoration and parts, and save them for historical and enjoyment purposes. While I'm not doing any rescues any more, I truly appreciate the work it takes to retrieve and restore the cars I drove in my teens while working at a used car lot. Good work guys!
Jason, you're an animal! What a ton of work to get that bad boy out. Thanks for taking the time to video these rescues for us to enjoy. Super enjoyable to watch.
Some philanthropist left a Beetle in the woods with a key in the ignition! If I hadn’t seen it, I wouldn’t have believed it! 😂❤😂 Thanks for Yet Another Awesome Video! 🎉❤👍👍
thank you AP, well right now the one eyeball fell out on the way home ( unbroken on trailer ) and it's leaking tranny fluid all over the trailer ....marking it's spot perhaps ?
I’m totally lost for words man. I was going to say at first watching your content is truly one of a kind, that to, but it’s better fitting to say what your sharing is amazing VW stories! Thank you and keep it coming.. love it!
Began watching Mustie 1 several years ago. So naturally I saw you n him rescuing VWs. Now I also follow your channel. Awesome what y’all are doing saving VWs.
when the lighting and storm moved in i hauled a$$ and left the seats and door....don't worry , i 'll be back and good news , there is more of that bus in there :)
This was absolutely killer!!!! Doing this all by yourself...and the only one cussing was me! Your level of patience, fortitude, and determination is off the scale!!!
At first I thought that this was a fake video. Okay, the old bug was in his favourite condition (stuck deep in the ground and without floor pans). But the guy, who looks exactly like 5150mxVW, came fully prepared! I've never seen that in all the years I watch this channel. But after some time it became clear: It is an original and more or less typical 5150mxVW rescue mission video! And as masochistic as almost always. 😁 ;-) Nevertheless: In the end he always brings something home. Sometimes he is in a limb mode after those exhausting rescue missions, this time it's the car too. 😱🙈 Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and health in particular.
Hell yeah Rad Dude!! Save em all!! I love all the weird unique features of the 1960 beetle!! That is definitely a 60, I can tell by the one year only vertical key slot in the door handle!!
@@5150mxVW no sweat homie!! I have an April 1960 pearl white beetle and I love the odd ball quirky one year stuff they have!! Weirdest part is the trans mount on the nose cone of the transmission, which raises it slightly, which tilts the engine down a tad, which means one year only dipstick!! (Supposed to be painted red! So we dont mix em up!) Stock muffler would have been different too as a result! Fan shroud has 1 year only rubber wire clips, and since it's the last year for screw type wire connections, the turn signal switch is incredibly rare!! That and the vertical key slot. Also cool 1 year color options! I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff, but they are such cool weird beetles!! Cant wait to see more on this car!!! Have a Rad Day duder!!! You kick ass dude!!!!!!
I’m glad you can’t hear me shouting at the screen! I love your determination and doggedness. All those trees to use to turn the trailer around with AND you had a WINCH to do it with! Pulleys, rope and ground anchors and you can haul anything out of anywhere.

OMG Jason! That was a crazy rescue! Don’t be doing that sh*t by yourself. So happy you made it out of the forest safely and home. Talk about determination.
Great dedication ...compulsive viewing well done Jason .Keep the rescues coming. Recently discovered the channel .Brings back great memories of owning a beetle...everyone needs to have driven one in there car owning life. Nothing quite like it !
How that door closes at 9mins 30 is incredible. 😅 I'd never have believed it. Mate at what point does a car look too far gone for you to rescue? Have you ever seen one and just left it because it was just too knackered? I love watching these cars getting rescued man but I'd also really love to see what happens to them afterwards - a resto, etc. The videos you post with Larry are really great.
Well your an hero doing that removel on your own kudo's to you I know it took a long time but overall I think it went well keep posting I love watching you sir thank you Andy.
Awesome video. Felt like I was right there with you getting bit by horse flies, getting muddy and beat to hell by the end of it. lol. But always a good feeling saving another VW from the grave.
Dude, because of your videos, my brothers and I pulled a 67 bus out of the woods this past weekend! Thanks for the education and your commitment to rescuing these!
I helped a buddy pull a late 50's bug out of the woods a few years back. We were worried about the rusty framehead and didn't want to rip the front beam loose. So we cabled up to the transmission horns, pulled from there, and bundled the cable to the front beam to keep it pulling straight. Worked like a charm. Also, when pulling brake drums and the shoes get stuck to them, take a long punch or screwdriver and poke it through the open lug bolt holes to push the shoes back towards the backing plate. Helps keep things from binding up and making the pull even harder. BTW, did you dig those black tent poles from the scrap pile next to the Westy? Also, that split bus door is a Palm Green/Sand Green from a 56-58 bus. Nice score!
yes, great ideas Corey , I have used a punch in the past ...my luck i'd bugger up the threads lol, so i stuck with the hammer. That. is my plan on the SO23 camper, try and tie the frame / beam / torsion tube all together for loading once it's a roller....the poles are still there , i didn't grab them haha, i will. thank you
Best line: "Horsefly Benny Hill-ing my head right now." For those who have never watched long ago episodes of "The Benny Hill Show" when Benny Hill would repeatedly slap the top of an old man's bald head (sped up in fast motion for more comic effect), you may now understand the hilarity of that line.
I’m new to your channel but I’ve got to say that you are the only guy who actually takes the proper time to remove the brake drums so that it’s a hell of a lot easier moving the vehicle. That’s the way I was taught by my dad and uncle. I believe I’ve got a new favourite channel Have at it!
You have some of the most difficult recoveries I have ever seen anyone attempt. You obviously love what you do, and I'm glad you do it. Save the other ones and that old lawn mower too. I would love to restore that thing.
That looked like alot of work. When I was a teenager that wasn't a big deal . I only saw a car that was headed for the road. I know your not a teenager but you still have the same visions. Go for it and good luck.
Man even if I was not a lover of Beetles I will not miss a minute of these episodes ! The entertainment value alone is off the charts ! ha ha ha ha Tell Josh I am proud of him, he took my advice and ran - he will be home in a week or two. The best !!
You have to give Jason credit, there is no quit in him. Just going out in that brush with a trailer is crazy. There's a reason why he's by himself. Haha 😄
L that is the hardest rescue I have ever seen, and by yourself. I don't know how you did it, honestly and kept the high spirits up that you are know for. I applaud you my friend! Now what was wrong with your truck? I feel bad for you sometimes. God Bless you Jason!
J that was amazing! How you saved both those VWs in the conditions they and you were in is crazy. A big tip of the cap for doing what you do! Get your truck fixed and safe travels 🙂
You are the Fred Rogers of UA-cam! The way you include us with the little comments have me speaking back to you - much like my daughter did when she was a toddler 30 years ago. Had to explain to her that he couldn’t hear her answers to her questions. Of course, me talking to you and thinking I’m hearing an answer from you is probably a sign of early dementia, haha! As always, we’ll done! You never give up!!!
That is the definition of a field service mechanic, I was never sent on anything that bad but I have seen some real messes. Great job brother, if you can see it you can fix it 🐾✌️🇺🇸
I bought one of those 2 wheel trailer jacks for mine. Best money I ever spent. It's set up so you can push a button and flip it up out of the way when not needed.
