I have an over the shoulder addition to my Harness, as I wear it because with all the gear on the harness and chainsaw, the Harness rubs on your hips, and it rides down. Holds your harness up, and comfortable to wear. Now that is an awesome addition to an harness, just to add to your array of devices.. You are so generous with your knowledge, have a great New Year.
Merry Christmas buddy, you are the target audience. It’s sad to see so many new climber buying gear that they will soon realize is the cheaper, sub standard stuff once they learn a little. Glad this video is helpful for you 😁
As brazillian and new guy in the industry I must say I wont have access to most of the gear shown here, but the camelbak as chest harness got me hard! Cheap, useful and practical, thats the kind of gear that I like
nice , first comment . great video bud , been watching you for a while now . recently got into the indusrty , taught myself climbing due in part to your videos . even thinking of making some videos of my own . its something else being up there . stay safe keep up the great work brother . best things ive climbed with for years that i never see and it such a worksaver. i use it on most climbs with rigging. is the stein extenable rope grabber. saves so much reaching and repositing to get ropes/things
Hey there! Quick question about the VT 3 final wraps - should the ones that cross intercalate like the top one should go underneath first, and then come back on top again? I've noticed that a lot of guys don’t seem to do it that way. Thanks!
The beauty with friction hitches like the VT, you can make variations of them by adding wraps, removing wraps, changing the pattern of overs and unders. Each change will slightly change the way it responds and how it works with different ropes and length of cordage
Great vid and dedication as alwasy. Im looking forward to the A.R.T. blackbird device in 2025. Very curious about this device. The other mechanical devices have all had lots of limitations. Interested to see if ART can overcome these problems.
Just got the shembina, but I can't seem to fit the top handle chainsaw on sideways, won't fit shembinas to small, any tips or help I am lost and it cost a lot...???
Thanks for the idea to add a leash to your hand saw, I’ll be getting one now. Do you have your hand saw hanging from your harness or mounted somewhere else?
@@ClimbingArborist i use it as a friction saver. With all those eyes + carabiner its like an adjustable friction saver with a ring prusik. I think you also showed this in one of your videos.
My first carabiners were the Rock Exotica red D, and the RockO. I’m not fond of the lack of textile grip on any of them. DMM doesn’t seem to be any better. I’ve seen someone else use a Petzl that seems to have a better texture to grip with sweaty hands or with gloves. I have the original non-clutch Husqvarna electric saw. It truly is amazing and competes very well with Stihl 201performance, but with slightly better weight balance; no fumes, and less noise.
Hey mate, nice vid. I'm interested in your helmet choice, as I have the same issues with the Protos hearing protection. I notice you don't use a face shield. Can you comment on your choice of eye / face protection? Those glasses you're wearing in the vid - are they integrated into the helmet?

It’s an amazing feeling up there in the tree tops, and not a feeling many will experience. Good on you 🤙
Thanks for scrench idea or reminder of , good plan .
Thank you again for your insights and knowledge.
Merry Christmas
The Holiday buying guide! I love those chainsaw lanyards. Made by Elevation Canada.
Damn, that’s right. I couldn’t think of the name
Great recommendations, Dan. I absolutely agree that everyone should have a Spin L1D! It's a revolutionary rigging pulley.
My favourite piece of gear of the last two years
@ClimbingArborist I would buy a 3/4 ratchet block if anybody made one. The faceted sheave is revolutionary.
Glad to hear this. I just bought one yesterday!

Liked the Cmi shembina
Thankyou
Just purchased it buzzing
Awesome
Thanks for the run down Dan. Have you tried the new ISC Apex rope wrench? I switched to that this year and really like it.

Absolutely

Merry Christmas. Would you be able to give a link to the hearing protection? I'm certainly wanting to minimize hearing damage.
It’s the HPE version on this webpage

Nice rundown. Where do you attach your handsaw? Why do you use the art snake instead of your climbing rope? Thanks from Western NC USA
Handsaw to the left side of harness. Snake anchor is a nice piece of kit to add, but certainly not a necessity.

Mostly hanging from harness but have experimented with taping it to the Camelbak strap by my ribs
Tat ART base anchor is legit and i definitely want it
Slick bit of kit for sure

I typically don’t wear a face shield, but opt for safety glasses, they are not integrated, just regular
