    My apologies for the wind noise. I only had a small break in the action over the weekend, and rushing around I forgot to put the wind screen on my lav mic :( One bad gust got the best of me, so I'm hoping that won't be too distracting. When I get to the nitty gritty the wind cooperated :)

    Hi Nathan. I have 2 questions:
    We all really appreciate the level of detail you provide in using this DSLR approach for panoramas. I have been using the Ricoh Theta Z1, but I am upgrading my gear for DSLR. I bought the Nodal Ninja and the calibration seemed to go well (6 small bags of extra screws and parts). No documentation of any kind in the package, so we rely on someone like you for crucial information. I bought your book, but didn't find anything in it about my questions below. Can't wait to do some exterior test shots. TYIA.
    1. What are the 3 blue thumbscrews on the Nodal D10 Rotator for and where should they be set, if you adjust them? My settings seem to be off by about 2 degrees. Can't find info on that anywhere.
    2. You are using a tripod leveler. Is that needed to be exactly level and what would you recommend for purchase?

    • @NathanCoolPhoto
      @NathanCoolPhoto  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks EJ. Great questions. The tripod leveler isn't necessary; I just happened to have it on there that day from doing other work. I find it just as easy to level the tripod for DSLR 360s using the legs, but a leveler can help...here is the one shown in that video: amzn.to/2R50O7S On the question of the blue knobs, they help rotation snap into place on various increments...I think that's probably explained better with a video tutorial, so I made a note to do one soon...maybe I'll talk about the leveler than as well.

I take 4 photos one every 90 degrees and 2 upsides and 2 the nadir (I work HDR bracketing photo in Lightroom 2021 and Photoshop 2021) I have calibrated the pano head with no parallax problem ( I watch your video on how to calibrate the pano head )bat still have stitching problem.

    Really interesting, will be following all of them
    What am I giving up if I want the better quality pano head that you are using and sticking with my sigma 10-20 mm as opposed to getting the cheaper head and buying a fish eye?
    THANKS!

    • @NathanCoolPhoto
      @NathanCoolPhoto  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Todd, the better the gear the easier the job :) You can shoot a 360 pano with a DSLR using any lens, even a 400mm tele, but the key is how many shots it will that take to accommodate stitching, which requires a certain amount of overlap. This is why fisheye lenses are preferred: minimal number of shots. While lenses and camera bodies come and go, a good pano head can last a lifetime...it's a machined piece of metal, but well-machined is key to lasting through the ages. So, you may consider buying a good pano head, and see how that works with your setup, and then buy a different lens if you need to. In other words: If budget is an issue, then take it in steps, pano head first.

    Great instructional video! Thanks for that. I had originally asked in this thread what pano head you were using but I found it on your earlier 'Calibrate' video. Very cool stuff and a reason for not using the Theta cam if you want quality! If we 'do' know some web hosting, what site do you suggest for hosting these? On your own or on a different one just for these? Also comes into play if you are hosting any large video files.. suggestion there as well (if you get into that part) TIA!

    Hey Nathan, thanks for these great video's, really appreciate the work. I do have one question you might be willing to answer: When shooting outside in very windy conditions, does this impact the quality much? As in, lots of ghosting in trees or bushes? Would this be noticeable in the stitching? Thanks in advance!

    Hey, Nathan. When you shoot these do you have your camera settings set to automatically detect the camera angel (portrait/landscape) and adjust the photo accordingly or do you switch that off? One more related question. I've noticed when I shoot a 3 bracket set, sometimes it saves two of them in portrait and one in landscape and PTGui doesn't recognize it as a 3 shot HDR bracket unless I use light room to rotate the oddball image and export it as a .dng Any suggestions for this? Thank you. Great material by the way.

    • @NathanCoolPhoto
      @NathanCoolPhoto  2 роки тому

      Both issues are the same. Either way, I just rotate them before sending to PTGui. I like to convert mine to TIFFs using OEM software first instead of DNG for better results.

      Hi Ziggy Puppy, without knowing what the "issue" is and what you are using to create and/or host the VT, then there'd be no way for me to know for sure what the problem is. Assuming you're using Cloudpano then go to Share, copy the embed code, and paste that into your WP page.
