I love using Asteroom and taking charge of my own tours and floor plans. I don't know how accurate the floor plan is, but it looks like it captures the proportions well without giving the numbers. For the floor plan to function it needs to be measured accurately from the floor to the center of the lens. Asteroom only gives measurement options in whole inch increments so make the height to the lens centered at an even inch height with no fractions. Asteroom has a variety of how to videos that are very helpful. The tech support is very good too.
I love Asteroom! The kit has everything I need to create the tours using my iPhone. The customer support is fast and responsive and ordering the dollhouses and 2D floor plan is super easy. As mentioned, this makes the 3D tours really fast and easy to do. So grateful for #Asteroom because without it, I wouldn’t have made the leap to start shooting Real Estate Photography, and with the lockdown in Ontario right now, it’s all I CAN shoot! So extra grateful!

I purchased the Asteroom a few months ago and I use my iPhone 12 Pro Max to shoot real estate tours. Our company has the Matterport but it's much more cumbersome to use. I love the Asteroom! It's quick, simple to use and the staging feature is great! The Matterport is free for our agents to use but frankly, I'd rather pay a few bucks to use Asteroom. #asteroom

Good video Ben! I was excited at first, as I thought this could probably replace Matterport and their confusing hosting/pricing structure, but then finding out you need to pay extra for them to build the tours for you makes this a lot less exciting again :-(
Incredibly to use - created a tour of a 6,000 square foot home within an hour of opening the equipment. Virtually no learning curve. Love it! #Asteroom
Matterport is becoming expensive technology that is not necessary to make great looking 3-D tours. #Asteroom has similar capabilities at a much lower price point. Thank you for the great review Ben!

I was looking for a more economical way of doing these virtual tours for my clients and this definitely works well. @11:40, you mentioned that you were able to shoot at 32mp on your iPhone Pro Max 12, yet my son's iPhone Pro Max 13 only has 12mp. I know they both have 4k video, but to date, iPhone doesn't make a camera phone with 32mp.

Good that they can generate a 2d floorplan, but the question is: How accurate is it? With the LIDAR sensor on your iPhone it could be very accurate - as per Magicplan for example, but I don't see anything to indicate they are using that. Great video as always - engaging and informative - thanks!

Awesome, this would be helpful for my work and is something I have talked about with my supervisor. I work for a waste water agency, where we have a large number of tunnels, pipe galleries, pump rooms, etc... This would come in handy for design, bid and the preconstruction stage of a project. Watching your video I see two potential problems to implement this for my needs. 1. Is a big issue and something our IT would have a cow about, and that is we are not allowed to host any videos or photos to an external hosting site period, "all videos and photos must be stored on our agency servers." 2. If number 1 can be solved than I could probably afford this for myself, "trying to get the agency to pay for this would be more headache than it is worth." 3. Is lighting, some places are very dark, but the answer to this is pretty easy, I would need to carry some lights with me. Perhaps Asteroom is not the best option for my needs, I would be interested in hearing your thoughts.
I have used #Asteroom and I've used a DSLR on an expensive tripod and a calibrated pano tripod head. I will never use the DSLR again. I get incredible 360 tours with #Asteroom in 1/2 the time and with 1/10th the effort! I recommend it wholeheartedly.

You can download the photos to your camera roll using the Asteroom kit- honestly $109 is extremely cheap to make decent 360 photos. The alternative is buying a 360 camera which is $200-$1000 on average.
Unfortunately they are only offering the 59$ all in one package. There is no more the option to buy only the floor plan or/and the dollhouse separately.

Hi and thanks for your video, delivered with understandable enthusiasm. I work with 3D laser scanning in connection with civil engineering. The points are colourised by rounds of photo images ahead of the scan starting (all within the same instrument). In software later if I query a pipe size, it is coming from the 3D dots rather than the imagery though theoretically a size could come from imagery only. This is because each instrument set up is reconciled to the mm against all the others making up the data set. As far as I can see from your demo, all the data being collected is photographic. Is it possible, within the software to "strengthen" the floor plan accuracy by forcing in your own laser measurements. The obvious way to do this is along the longest possible visible wall to wall base line dimension within the building. The competitor you refer to allows the virtual tourer to measure window sizes for curtains and so on though I have no idea how accurate they are.

1. I doubt it uses the lidar but more likely it uses farmers height like it does when I use Insta 360 One X. But I could be wrong. Accuracy is within 10% I believe. 2. I don't see it having any issues with smaller spaces. 3. You can name rooms anything you want if you can't find it on the list.

It’s cheaper than Matterport if you have 6+ tours active. For 5 or less, Matterport wins. I’ll cover this in detail in my upcoming comparison 😀

Frankly, Asteroom's sample iPhone 11 "Realtor" shots look better than their sample Theta Z1 "Professional" shots...at least to my eye!
