- this is a tutorial on how to steam Maryland blue crabs. I have been steaming my own crabs for over 20 years and I think my recipe is absolutely delicious. For all the dog lovers and dog owners I created a website and facebook community for all things dog. If you have time come over and check it out at / hugyourdogtoday the facebook page and www.thedailydogpost.com/ the website, I hope to see you guys there but until then God Bless and thanks for taking the time to watch my videos.

Also like to add...for all of you calling this cruelty...did you ever consider killing any insect cruel when it was just doing its natural thing? Yea. I'll wait.
Joel Malcom you've been waiting for two months man?
You waited 3 months to reply?
Your dumb wait is over. Crushing an insect is quick... boiling something alive is not. Just like when we hunt dear, we make sure its dead before we start hacking and cooking.
jert opp what???? So the dear doesn’t run away and die a slow death? He did it the right way. when you bring them to a boil the will less likely feel it as opposed to dumping them straight into a boiling pot. But who really gives a fuck right....
Tyrone, I'm a chef in Memphis, TN. and I am not going to try and give you any suggestions like some other folks because I think you've got this recipe on lockdown. Straight vinegar and Old Bay for steam sounds amazing. Here is my only problem, you reaching your bare hands down in that bag. Are you crazy man? I'm ready to cook some crabs but I'm not sinking my hands into a grocery bag full of those SOB's. You're a beast. I'm inspired.
A few years ago I searched for info about wiring up some new outlets, Tyrone had some excellent tutorials. About to steam some crab legs today and stumbled across Tyrone's familiar voice as he guides me through another journey. Subscribed.
Bare handed...you're a beast. Great video. Never tried it Maryland style, think I might try this for for Father's Day.
I wonder what the 2nd layer of crabs thought when they seen the first layer of crabs 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
They was saying know we on top.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just visited Maryland for the first time. Fell in love with the steamed crabs and lump crab cakes. Definitely will try to do the steamed crabs
I just made these!!! They taste soooooo good!!! I have been looking for this taste for a long time!! Thanks so much!
You da man Tyrone, got my crabs started and I will be eating good, thanks for the upload
You sure this was your first video?! You're a natural!! Now I'm going to go look if you have other cooking videos!
LOL Thanks Bea
so glad i found this video again; used this method last fall and the crabs were great. i saved it this time. Thanks for sharing!
I am doing this right now. You are literally the best video after 25 minutes of browsing for how to cook STEAMED crab
Tyrone. Lived in MD my entire life, ate more crabs than I care to think about. Moved to Texas, they have good sized Blue Crab, didn't know how to cook them. Now I do. A taste of home, more than 1100 miles away. Thanks a bunch man!
The first time I steamed crabs I put them in the pot to steam, then turned on the heat as you demonstrated. I sat down with my wife to have a beer and a crab scampers across the room. There were crabs in the living room, down the hall, under my bed, etc. What fun seeing my wife standing on the table... I learned to have the steam going before placeing the cooking section with the babes on top. Great first tape. It would be better if you edited a bit. Wish I could have been with you - love crabs. God bless.
thanx for the video Tyrone. im getting a steaming pot for Christmas and this is really helpful. I live in glen burnie MD so crabs are a summer must around here. thanx again brother God bless my friend
This is one of the best videos on how to steam blue crabs. I would add some water to the vinegar though. Some people add beer. It's a personal preference. Your seasoning sound delicious.
hi, why vinegar and not just plain water? does the vinegar steam give them a tangy flavor? or hide a "fishy" smell? if you use beer and vinegar, do they taste like beer? -just curious, i'm in Midwest and know very little but extremely curious
No actually 95% of the time I use beer but I don't want to offend or encourage minors that may watch the video to try and go out and get beer.
Why do they stop moving once you put the seasoning on
Not wanting to encourage MINORS to use beer is admirable....l get what you're saying...BUT how many minors have you EVER heard of in your lifetime, EVER steamed or plan to steam crabs?
Yes nice to have a good video to watch , live in Texas and was originally from Maryland . Texas has blue crab but don't have a clue how to steam or season . Nice layering !
Thanks Tyrone...picking up a dozen of #1's this afternoon and it has been ages since we steamed our own crabs...usually get them from Cravin' Crabs in Baltimore Highlands. Going to use your recipe with a few tweaks....thanks again!
Terri Clifford you are welcome Terri
Great video Bro! Me being a transplant from Baltimore Md to L.A. I needed that.
great vid! I just steamed some West-Coast Crabs(Dungeness-Red-Rock) I caught yesterday for the first time instead of boiling them and they cooked out well. The crab-meat came apart from the shell easier and the texture was more softer&tastier.
I may never boil crab again!
Dude's spice blend sounds amazing. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Funny how they stop fighting once you throw the seasoning on them
That’s because they are licking it out. It taste good
Great Video. My family is from Maryland. My family would use beer. Instead of vinegar. My grandmother would season the crabs with crushed red pepper, salt & pepper.
Thanks Tyrone, it was the best crab I ever had! You're the man!!
no problem
Awesome video brother ! I was looking for a video to show me how to steam crabs and your video was the first one that popped up. You're very detailed, patient, and you have a tremendous calm in how you cook! You need your own cooking show, but UA-cam will do for now! Lol. Kudos bro!
+romegq LOL thanks for the kind words
you seem like the most gentle person in the world from the way you talk, and those crabs looks amazing but too bad those kind of seasonings aren't available in my country
Ebay or Amazon.com are great sources with world wide shipping.
Tyrone, I always remember crabbing from my childhood in Delaware. Love this video, keep up the great work. Wish I was there grubbing with everyone.
LOL thanks Steve
Hi Tyrone! Loved this video! You must be a relative of mine because you used my Grandmother's recipe! She lived in Milford Deleware. We used to catch in in the morning and she would cook them that evening! Pure heaven. She also made a righteous crab cake too! Peace to you.
+Dianne Linam Never know its a small world Peace to you too!
Now that's how you steam crabs, I'm from Maryland. As I say you have to respect your crabs thanks so much getting ready to order me some now...
Looks good, just finished fishing in the Chesapeake Bay yesterday and we scooped a few crabs. Think I'll try your recipe. Thx
the color of your seasoning looks already flavorful.. I can already imagine how the crabs taste like :)
I am so amazed by how much seasoning you put in, in every layer. I bet you they are so good! I subscribed here! Thanks for sharing.
OH LAAWWWD THESE THANGS DUN FELL OUT THE BAG!!!!....OOOHH!!!!...LOL!

Had Maryland crabs in Baltimore - addicted. Much better than lobster. Trying to get this going in London - thanks for showing!
You a beast to be picking them up with your hands lol omg.
smh TOO bold
Its normal to use your hands you donkey
great video Tyrone. I have one of those pots and it is awesome for steaming large amounts of seafood. Love that crab that tried to get up outta of there lol. Blessings to you and keep on cooking!
The way that I steam them comes out perfect everytime. It's not broke so I am not going to try and fix it.
This is an awesome video! I have never cooked crabs; or seen anyone else cook them. Those spices look GOOD; especially after the crabs were done!
Excellent video fellow Carverite! Been a long time my brotha. Glad to see you're doing well

Reminds me of how we do it in the South. Great video!
I am on my way to get a couple dozen of crabs after watching this video. Thanks a great deal for sharing with us! By the way here in Florida our crabs are about $20 per dozen for jumbo crabs.
You are welcome Mia
awww I'm dieing over your accent. I miss my home! Great video!
Thanks Nikiva
Nikiva Dionne LOL thanks Nikiva
I have in MD my entire life and I have now seen many ways to cook blue crabs. I use cheap beer (Natty Boh, Shaefer, but Schlitz is best). I mainly cook mine with 2-3 cups of water and one beer, Old Bay on each layer, and a cup of vinegar.
the seasoning killed them lol
Martin Gardner lol I was just thinking that
Propably the white pepper.
Lol shit got their eyes lol
Why
That's how you do it "SLANG EM IN THE POT!!! THAT SEASONING PUT THEY BEHINDS TO SLEEP 🤣🤣🤣
MANNN TELL YOU WIFE THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO, all the way from FLORIDA!

My favorite is crab any kind of crab . I’m Montagnards live in North Carolina I like how you cooked the crab look so yummy.
I just transferred to Maryland and was fortunate enough to rent a home with a dock (crab traps too). Used your video today to help me cook, and worked out great. Although I must say eating them was a lot of work. You should make a video on eating/cleaning them. Thanks again for the video.
Thanks for the tip John but I have been using the same recipe for ages and it works really GOOD :-)
I watch this vid almost every day you rock at steaming crabs I want some of your crabs I mess it up most the time
You have a nice, calm video presence. Good job!
+Gwendolen McCloud Thanks Gwen
Looks very delicious indeed. This is about my 4th time watching your video. I am trying to modify your recipe to for about a dozen crabs. I have not perfected it yet but it surely taste great!! Thank you for posting!

First time making my own blue crabs and this video help alot
Taking a trip to Ocean City, Maryland next month. We live in the midwest where you can't get blue crabs. I can't wait to stuff my face with this wonderful treat.
Yes! Finally a video that says use a steamer basket!!!
Gas stove!?!?! You've turned my world upside down, Tyrone!
Thank you for the vid. I need to get a steam pot like that instead of the turkey fryer pot that I use, lol. I live in Georgia and have access to blue crabs and thanks to travel, I also have access to JO's seasoning. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Joel
thanks for a simple to follow video, looks tasty!
Great vid! I just moved to the area and looking to steam me up some! Go Ravens!
Yo Tyrone I liked the way you steamed those blue crabs. I steam my raw veggies a lot but I usually boil my Dungeness crab I catch. Here on the West Coast we catch a bigger crab so it takes longer to cook. I'm going to try to steam them next week when we go crabbing! thanks for the vid!
Great video! I'm looking forward to trying this. Thank you for sharing.
I'll try that seasoning. For additional tip, In south korea , Lay those crabs belly show upside. While steamed, It keep more juicy thing inside the carapace(upper carapace shell work as plate) for better flavor and natural nutrient. Thanks for posting the video clip!
Cool I think those pots are great!
I've never had blue crabs but want to try them. You handled them tho. Lol. Thank you for the video.
You have to steam them and use oldbay seasoning for the best blue crabs. You gotta eat them Maryland style.
You are welcome! No I have never done blue crabs that way but snow crabs are cleaned when you steam them and I do it the same way and they taste pretty good
This video is great!!! I'm still smilling. Thanx
you are welcome
