Hi. I'm not sure if you watched the video but I explained the freezing process. Sticking the crustacean into the freezer for around 15 minutes puts their nerve centres to sleep. This is the best method to HUMANELY kill them. Let me know if there is still confusion!

crab fat/butter aka the liver is where all of the toxins from industrial water pollution collect and concentrate, so here on the west coast of the usa california, oregon and washington we don't eat that stuff.

if you dont eat yellow things then better break the crab, clean before steam, much more easy and faster, also you have more space to add more crab in the pot

When you freeze them they go into hybernation. When you put them in the steamer you wake them up to be steamed alive. Really, if you want to be humane you have to turn them on their backs lift the flap and plung a screwdriver into the body in the middle . Kills them instantly. WOrked in a cr ab shack when I was younger.

    • @HouseofXTia

In my family - we would put the center of the crab on an edge (like the middle ridge in a sink) and hit the back of the shell with out palm to instantly crack the crab in half, rinse the guts out, then throw them in to cook.
Edit: Did anyone else ever grow up hearing the gills referred to as "Devil's Fingers"?

@@HouseofXTia yes tia you’re smart for asking that question. Yes you do need it unless you are a good swimmer who can float for hours then you wouldn’t need a boat. Also the equipments are cheap, you can buy a floatable boat for 30$ then a licensed for crabbing. But it’s all worth it at the end.
