The Arisaka Side Scout Mount will allow you a closer to 1-30 position for your light on the Gen 2, will at least get it up above your can.
As for an Mlok pressure switch mount, switch to a Streamlight and hit up Shaffer machining. Their cable control is immaculate for the Quantum with the Airsaka straight mount.
Hey, great video! Thanks for showing us the before and after of your accessories on the handguard. If I had known that the quantum rail can use the aero enhanced upper, I would have used it. The arisaka mount for the odin light looks solid too.
Thank you, happy to gear it was helpful! They're both great rails and I'm still running both and with the enhanced upper they're bomb proof. The Arisaka mount is great too, glad Olight made the Odin's scout mount compatible. I love their torches but their mounts could still use some work imo

I have the enhanced upper and just ordered 2 of the Quantum rails in 7 an 9 in. I have a chop mod in mind for the 2 rails. I have an old Seekins keymod BAR rail lying around so it's my test unit.

Man look at that channel growth! Well deserved indeed!. Areo is my go to for my AR builds as far as their uppers and lowers go. The Gorilla Machining uppers mate up extremely well with the Areo lowers.. I prefer the M-lok over the keymod, it just looks more aesthetically pleasing.. both nice guards..

Yeah it's taking off quickly, thanks! Aero Precision is the bees knees as far as I'm concerned. I've actually never ran or tried keymod as when I was getting into AR's that's when keymod was starting to kind of die off so to speak lol. I'm actually good on the sling mount but thanks Silverback I appreciate the offer! I filmed this video last summer and just now released it so I've since picked some up sling mounts

i like how the new magpul MBUS 3's have a top button instead of the lever style button
that would fix every issue you had with the MBUS 2's
The MBUS 2's have the button on top you can use to flip them as well. I just don't like to because if you get your finger in the way it hurts like heck when it smacks it lol

Excellent video. I've been looking for something with round the clock Mlok because I want to get an Odin mounted like yours, but I'm thinking of mounting it at 1030 with the mbus mounted offset on the 130 facing so I can run a red dot on the top. I'd expect that's going to run a little heavier than the Enhanced Mlok Gen 2, but as you pointed out, no Mlok around the clock.
Short of that, I could get a RIS III, but it's not like I'm made of money.
6:50 ran into the same issue with the mag pull flip up… I was thinking the same thing, going to have to grind it down. So annoying. That or a spacer so the picitany rail sits up higher.
Yeah it was definitely an unexpected pain in the butt bump in the road lol. With that said I'm loving it in it's current configuration and it's exactly what I wanted. Either way you go I think you'll be happy with the end result
Can you add picatinny rail sections to the 12 o’clock position to the quantum? I want to put a picatinny rail section right behind the section for the front iron sight to mount a tape switch
Yup, you absolutely can 👍 the only thing that can possibly affect that depending on where you run the rail is your gas tube and more so your gas block
I use the quantum 12" on a 8.5" barrel and it covers my SiCo Omega.
Nice! It's a lot cleaner look when you can run a can under the rail

How much thicker is the quantum and is that M5 or m4 handguard
I'm putting the 15" quantum on a 20" build I'm currently on and I'm wondering if I'll need to add a portion of pic-rail to extend out from the receiver to get my scope to mount with correct eye relief. I also got that same O-light in your vid and couldn't believe how BIG the switch is. I'm wondering if anyone knows if O-light makes a smaller switch? It's for my AR pistol which only has a 9" rail and the OEM switch takes up too much space. Thanks.
I have a primary arms 1-6 on this particular 14.5" build (w/american defense mount) and the eye relief is ok, not great though. With that said it's on a pistol brace lower so I don't quite get my preferred length of pull on it. I'm 5'11" and am using the sb pdw brace. With an actual stock on it as I'm assumimg you'll be running it'll all be up to your preferred length of pull but I think you'll be ok. As far as the Olight Odin goes no one makes after market switches that I know of. It takes a lot of tinkering around with to find the right spot for them I've found.
This rail it will fit on a HK 416/MR223?

Yeah it took me what I thought would be a 5 minute project into an hour plus with all the little mods I had to do lol. Gotta get it so it's just right though lol. Took me a week to finally decide on a final resting place for the pressure pad lol

Is that a mount for a shell catcher on your upper receiver rail? What brand/model is it?
It sure is, I've got a video up for it. It's the Tacstar brass catcher.
They look so slick and so smooth. Lol. The mlok rail on my dpms I got from wish for like $20. I'm cheap can ya tell lol
These are both great rails, Aero Precision offers great quality for the price. I've never used Wish before, I've heard good and bad things about it. If you got a $20 rail and it works well there's nothing wrong with that at all, in fact I think that's awesome!
I have the m4e1 enhanced like shown in the video and I was able to run a arisaka offset mlok mount just Fine
Interesting, I never bought one to try out since Arisaka said it wouldn't work with that rail

@Tyler that's good info to know. In the long run I'm happy I switched to the quantum rail and like the setup I have now. Both rails are fantastic though and I stillnhave builds with both. Love me some Aero Precision
I reappy liked the enhanced uppers so I spent the extra money. My logic was to have a quality reciever pairing with the ballistic advantage performance series 223 wylde government profile. Should be able to get that upper put together in the morning. We have a very similar upper and accessories. What exactly did you have to do to set up the flashlight? I'm using a .750 lo pro block
Sounds like you have good taste 😉 I've got a 18" 223 wylde Hanson profile barrel on another build. For the flashlight I went with the Olight Odin and I'm running it on a Arisaka inline scout mount. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out

I decided to run the Geissele Aimpoint mount for a romeo5 so I could get lower 1/3 cowitness on my fixed troy sights and I gotta be honest even with the crazy deals this is easily my most expensive weapon. I actually went with the feyachi low profile flashlight mount and the feyachi light itself. It has the same specs as the Odin and it was a quarter the price so I took the risk and I gotta say I'm very impressed. I specifically bought this handguard instead of the enhanced so I could have full Mlok anywhere I wanted and it would offset the added weight from the government barrel to use the lighter handguard. Stubby vertical grip, NiB BCG from toolcraft, ambi charger, Odin extended magazine release and the Evolv 3 prong brake from Mission first.. the rest of the upper will be here today and the gun totally finished by tomorrow morning. I debated changing things like going from 2 stage NiB trigger to single stage cmc 4.5, an ambi safety, and I toyed with the idea of a pin/weld on a 13.9" 5.56 performance series from BA but I refuse to do that on principle.
Does the enhanced upper come with a barrel nut and is it hard to install?
The upper receiver comes with the barrel nut. Easiest barrel nut ever to install as it doesn't require any timing. Just torque it down to spec (I recommend seasoning the threads a couple times) with a torque wrench and you're set!

I have both of these on various builds. I prefer the looks of the Enhanced, but no doubt the Quantum gives you more flexibility. Speaking of Aero Precision...I just got setup as an Affiliate with Aero Precision and Ballistic Advantage.... pretty excited about that since I use a ton of parts from Aero.
Anyways, great comparison video. Can't say that I've ever seen a good comparison of these handguards. Hey brother, passed 2k subs? What in the world? You just passed 1k...really cool!
You set up an affiliate with AP and BA?! That's way too cool! Hands down my two favorite companies to use even thought their kind of the same company now. That's something I should look into setting up at some point but I need to get on some other platforms first. I enjoy the looks of the enhanced more too but like the feel of the Quantum in my hand more. I'm still running both as well and love them though.
On the channel growth, it's still been a whirlwind lol. It took probably close to 1.5 years of being dedicated to hit 1k, then the next 1k came in just over a month lol. It's still that ammo shortage be like video, it should hit 400k views this weekend. Hopefully some of the new subs will start watching more of these videos as so far that's not translated very well. Take em' how you can get them though I suppose 😊

Thanks for this...I've been struggling with deciding between these two for a while. I never c clamp my grip, so the Enhanced might be it. But...I do want my light at the 1:30....but the QD mounts on the Enhanced are sweet. Fuck...
Hahaha, the struggle is real lol! I was hoping this one would be helpful so I appreciate the comment. Both are great rails in the long run. I'm running the quantum on one and the enhanced on another. Ended up buying a UTG Pro qd mount for my sling on the quantum and it's all worked out well. Good luck choosing 😁
I hope you are always going to shoot that suppressed. Without the can the muzzle blast might mess up your Olight, it sticks out way past the comp
I need to get a video knocked out on that Olight Odin. I've shot it quite a bit without the can and it hasn't effected it all actually. It's been a tough and amazing light so far. I've filmed and shot out to 200 yards in the pitch black on the farm with it and recorded that part but haven't worked up anything else for a review in it yet
Quantum Gen 1 does it require a low profile gas block?
I'm running low profile blocks on all my uppers and haven't ever tried a standard one with these handguards. My guess is 99.9% yes you would need a low pro block, but I can't say with 100% certainty. I'd contact Aero Precision to make sure
So you said the quantum a stronger one out of the 2 it heaver I care about weight but I want strength more great video
What mount do you have the Odin on?
I'm using the Arisaka inline scout mount. I really like it a lot. I've got a video up showing the Odin on the Olight mount vs the Arisaka mount with different rails and mounting positions

Why didn’t you just get an angled mLok pic rail section . It will put your light more in the 11:00 position
I got it where I want it at the 1:30 position. The one problem with these handguards is they're so fat not all angled mounts will work with it. I contacted Arisaka before buying their angled mount and they confirmed that their offset mount wouldn't fit on these rails. So I had to modify it somewhat to get it how I wanted it
