    I went with a FailZero on my current upper build. I have an OG Spikes Tactical Nickel Boron BCG from early 2010 when NIB was newer on the market and they were the only ones who had NIB besides FailZero. There are tool marks still all over it but out of 9,000 rounds (getting close to 10k) I have only recorded 3 jams that we’re not due to a bad magazine or me. I polished it with mother’s mag aluminum polish to shine it back up.

    Good timing, i just got a FN bcg from sharkarms in the mail 20 min ago. F stamped carrier, mpf stamped bolt. Good stuff. Going away from the fancy coatings now and just stick to the tried and true

    • @michaelpawluk6791
      @michaelpawluk6791 4 роки тому

      I have that BCG from them too! I got it for my FN m16a4 upper.
      Look at the bolt, if the F is underlined it means it was manufactured by an FN subcontractor not actually FNMI. Pretty neat, at first I was like wtf, but I don't think FNMI actually makes bolts. The underlined F is only ever on the bolt, and it just means they approved of it and it went through the mandatory 45 round test for the military.
      Also I'm pretty sure those BCG's are from the M16A2 days, I bought a A2 stock kit from shark arms and the stock was an unissued M16A2 stock not the M16A4 (button on trapdoor has a bigger notch on M16A4). Also pretty neat

    I currently run an Iron City Rifle Works BCG for my SHTF/Home defense gun. I've been very pleased, it's pricy but has functioned flawlessly in my .300blk 8" pistol.
    Super low friction coefficient, literally wipes clean and is super smooth even after a long range day

  • @zakmichael
    @zakmichael 4 роки тому +19

    I've got a Lantac in my BCM rifle and it works as you would expect. It has some features for running suppressed that are beneficial. Never had an issue and it cleans up easily. I don't think you need to run a $250 BCG but it certainly doesn't hurt. The BCG is the heart of the rifle. If you were going to have 2 key items it would be the barrel and the BCG.

    • @HannibalTX
      @HannibalTX 3 роки тому

      Don't forget the buffer. Proper functioning is a balance of all three to avoid smooth functioning without a recoil bounce. There are vids in here for the proper weighted buffer and there are about a dozen different buffers for full automatic, M16, AR15 and M4s. If you change bolt groups and go to a heavier barrel (or a longer one-20") you will need to address the buffer.

      Exactly what I am struggling with while doing a new upper. Going to go BCM upper, MCMR handguard, Ballistic Advantage Premium 223 Wylde 14.5 barrel, et al. I have had great experiences with NP3 but not many people make them. Is the Guissele worth it? I’d really like a BCG that’s easy to clean. I am disabled and would rather spend more time shooting than cleaning.

    great review... after doing 2 months of extensive research and reviews to exactly which bcg i wanted for my ar10 build back in oct/nov2019, i can concur. the lantec enhanced bcg probably has all the best features and strength parts on the market as to date. as 2nd best is also the SRC BGC due to its strength but - all the additional features. where within my military service ive had 4 bcg's crack on me, 3 on ranges 1 in the field and that is never cool. so mil spec isnt always so great when it comes to extensive use, or extreme pressures. I must say tho, the ar10 308win lantec enhanced full auto bcg has widen gasports which helps recoil defusions, however it recomends an 18/20" rifle gas system, so if your going to build a 15/16" carbine 308win it will take some tweaking with an adjustable gasblock and a muzzle extender of sorts. where the uradyne apollo max is also the best tested recoil compenstor on the market reducing 94.72% recoils. so with it an the lantec enhanced bcg, and a good gas block allows hypersonic rounds converting your rifle into a rail gun technically speaking by muzzle velocity ratings. then 12' of kick is reduced to about 1.9" with the right buffer setup, where i also highly recommend the 3.2oz krytec shock buffer. as i dont really give a shit about noize reductions when shooting hypersonic, as you have to wear double hearing protection anway. lol. but that shock absorption is a defiant added bonus. but the complete billet 308win railgun build is a 5.4k usd build too. but a .5mil drop at 670m w 1.2" grp its well worth it while sustained rapid fire. and every shot makes you feel like thor! (edit, oh an purple locktight isnt enough for the build, need hot lock to 2k degree to keep gas systems and muzzle sealed in positions. as a coated oring preventing gastube vibrations against upper is also recommended. but if you spend more than a dollar per fps muzzel velocity you probably spent too much. but GL finding hypersonic rounds. should any attempt such a build, as it is not advised..!)

Coming from the PCP airgun side of the fence dropping $2~3K on this "hobby" is'nt all that unreasonable, to those unfamiliar with the High end world of PCP air gunning it's a very expensive hobby especially with today's tech in electronics.

    I never thought I would have as many BCG's as I do. I am old school and I have three AR15 BCG's, two Colts and a Bushmaster, I have never had any issues with any of them. The new ones.. A BCM, Odin Works, Noveske(Rubber City), PSA in Nitride and Nickel Boron, Spikes, and BDU(White Industries). I really don't have a desire to spend a bunch of money on one. The Odin Works and Noveske in Nitride are super slick. The BCM and Spikes are phosphate, the BDU and PSA Nitride are slick, but nowhere near the Odin Works and Noveske. I just received the PSA nickel boron in their deal with 10 Pmags. That is going into my 300 upper build. I'd say the most I've spent on a BCG is $189 for the BCM, $180 for the Noveske during the peak of the covid/election parts scarcity. I don't think I have spent more than $120 for any of the rest, with the PSA and BDU being the cheapest being well under $100. The Odin Works was $99. I feel that if I have any issues with any of them, they would be taken care of by those reputable companies. Even the CMMG ones I have for their 22lr uppers and the CMMG 22lr retro fit kit for any AR 15.
    Watching the School of the American Rifle has been very useful in watching him do autopsies on different BCG's and testing their pass/fail with his go and no go gauges.

    Ive ran that palmetto for maybe 500 rounds. Did great. Until I put a binary in mine. I figured out it was pretty easy to Fump Bire if I held the trigger on the break. It didn't take maybe 3-4 mags and the "staked" gas key came loose and went into single action. I put it back together best I could and locked the bolts every way I could come up with. It works for now. For $5 you can get that BCM extractor o-ring kit to pretty much make it last forever. I have a $240ish bolt in the mail right now so I have one Id trust more. I just wanted to get a better nickel-coated one really. Word around here is those Fail Zero axo coated are the best but they didn't have the black in stock that I wanted so I went with another brand

    I have a question if you could help me out please
    So I just built a AR15
    I used a BCM lower and a Sons of Liberty upper with a 16 inch barrel in 300 BLK
    I bought the Gisley H2 spring and buffer kit and an AREO Persission BCG
    When I run Suppers through it it runs just fine but when I run SUB's through it, it wont pickup the next round from the mag
    I assume if I ran a CAN with the SUB's it would work fine?
    My question is
    I have another 300 BLK that I purchased complete (STAG ARMS) and it functions just fine wether I'm using SUB"s or SUPER's
    So What am I missing with my new build or How do I tune it to be able to run
    bopth SUB's and SUPER's without a CAN ?
    Best regards, POP's (SUBBED)

    my favorite ar-15 bcg gotta be Geissele Automatics 5.56 Enhanced Bolt Carrier Group, yes it cost more however it runs smooth as silk, i have about 900 rounds on mine never cleaned it yet and it still runs great. 👍👍👍

    What I like was that you said this one is great and that one I use and like a lot. BUT you kept returning to the Sharps Rifle Company Bolt Carrier Group (4 times) and how good it is. "Guys its exceptional made from S7 tool steel " The SRC Bolt is all I have ever run. And they keep on running.

    I run most BCG's from RCA. Freaking love em and the price is just right. They are the same company that makes the BCG's for Noveske. They also own their metal treatment process.

    Chrome was the original finish the military used on BCGs. They later went to phosphate with the M16A1.

    I don't have experience with most of those. But, the experience I have with failfrequently, they need to be dead last. My first ever bcg, psa, has never let me down.
