I've just swapped my 950s for the V4s, the 950 was a really good bike but this is in another league. So smooth at low speed no need to keep changing gear and then does it pull. Seems to be easier to manouevre as well. Just like you love it.
Fantastic mate. They're such a great package. I had the V2 for a few hours when mine went in for a service last year. Great bike but didn't seem to have the overall quality of the V4. Felt pretty plasticky. Obviously the power was also night and day.
I'd like to do the decat and pipe,. but here in the San Francisco area, it's 'illegal' and no Ducati dealer will do it since it voids the warranty here. Leo Vince makes a mid-pipe that completely eliminates any cat. Since I have experience with Ducati USA"s warranty service I don't want to jeopardize my warranty. They had to completely remove my engine to fix an oil weep, all under warranty.
I guess it's also "illegal" here as it wouldn't pass what we call an MOT test which is to test roadworthiness and emissions etc. It was Ducati who installed my exhaust and flashed the EVO map onto the bike so it's fully warrantied in the UK. Crazy that Ducati USA won't touch it given it's a Ducati approved part.
I completely agree with you, and have almost the same set up, I just went for spoked wheels on the V4s “full” with the full akro too. I’m the same size as you, and sometimes have the wife as pillion, but she’s tiny so I set the suspension the same as you. One extra point of interest - I think my fuel economy improved by about 7% after I got the full pipe……. I just noticed between fill ups, but maybe it was running in at the time too. Wondered if you found the same. I’m about to change tires, and only ever use it on tarmac, in the dry, so wondered you have a preference on rubber. I don’t care if I ware them out in 3000 miles or less, just want good grip on twisties.
That's very interesting on the fuel economy increase. Mine definitely went up too. I can often get low 40 mpg on a mixed ride. I'm just trying the Road 6 and so far they're awesome. The Angel GT II wore out very quickly and didn't seem any better than the Trail II stock tyres.
@@RoadstoRidges feels like everything points to the road 6, I’m sure I don’t need anything stickier, but you know what it’s like when bling takes over from common sense 😃
@RoadstoRidges I love the GT yes and it's a true beast. Just done an 8 country EU trip with mates and the bike was amazing but I'm just starting to enjoy more touring and maybe want I little more comfort. The GT is a bit rough compared to the V4s. I test rode the 1300 GS yesterday and whilst good it just didn't get my heart beat going
Sounds like you had an amazing trip. Interesting to hear your thoughts on the GS. I'm planning to test ride one soon so will be interested to see if it's disappointing compared to my V4S.
Nice bike but too expensive I think if you have to change exhaust, screen ,seat, brakes , mapping etc I know people customise their bikes to suit but seems a bit extreme to me to make it perfect but it's nice hope you enjoy it buddy ......stay safe.
Thanks Mark. I wouldn't say any of the mods were must haves. I'm 6ft 3inches so not many standard screens or seats are the perfect height. Exhaust I wanted a much louder bike so went for the full Akra system. The EVO map is part of the package from Ducati. Fully warrantied. Brakes didn't need upgrading. The pads wore out and i switched the compound to the fast road version and they have more initial bite. Stock pads were great too.
Hi. I think it is. You shave 7kg off the weight of the bike and it totally changes the sound the bike makes. If you don't like loud exhausts then you won't think it's worth it. I love the deep bass and pops and bangs the exhaust gives. The hike in torque is noticeable. Will depend on your circumstances. £2500 is a lot of money but I love how the bike sounds and goes even more after buying it.
As an alternative I have fitted the BHP UK decat link pipe and ecu flash which comes in at £1613 on my MS V4S. It sounds flippin luvly and the remap is very impressive. The engine is a lot smoother and the low to mid range pull is so much better.
@@bigal5895 Does that use the "normal" Akrapovic end can? Do you get any lights on the dash or does the ECU flash take care of that? Sounds like a great deal. Only reason I went with the Ducati version was their own Ducati EVO map, full warranty and I can probably sell the exhaust again at the end of my ownership for a reasonable chunk of the original cost.
@@RoadstoRidges Hi, yes it uses the “normal” Akropovic with single pipe, I think you can use the standard can as well. As I live in postcode IV36 and BHP are down in Burnley, I used the remote upload, the remap is emailed to you and upload onto the bike using programmer which is provided. The whole process went well with no hiccups and no lights showing.
The handguards are the genuine Ducati ones that I ticked the option for at the time of ordering. They come with the higher, clear wind deflector as part of the kit.
Omniaracing from Italy sells them for a good price, I just got mine. Takes a bit of time for them to send things out (about a month) but once they ship, it got from Italy to California in like 3 days. Ordered multiple items from them, they are legit.
Mine is the extended touring screen. I bought it before the Rally was launched. Givi do a taller version again but I stuck with genuine Ducati parts. How tall are you?
£2k over a V4S for an extra 8 litres of fuel, 4" of screen & a tad more suspension travel? Nah, I'll take the extra rest stops thanks. Ducati, as usual, are taking the piss.
Mine isn't the Rally mate. I've added the screen myself. Agreed though the Rally is a very expensive increase in price and most riders I know are ready for a stop after 3 hours or 160+ miles so can fill up. Not met anyone who does 250 miles in one hit.
@@RoadstoRidges Agreed, I had 5 GSAs before the V4S Multi & always needed a break after 150 miles or so. Fabulous bike the Multi though, more comfy than the GSA, seat lowering for my stumpys & the fastest & best handling bike I’ve ever owned including my Bimota YB10. We are lucky guys.
@keirreeves766 That's very interesting to hear you prefer it after owning many GSAs. I've never ridden the Beemer yet. I totally agree the multi is the total package especially for the road.
@@RoadstoRidgesI’ve ridden both, and to me the V4S handled so much better on road. The GS was a bit more comfy and the low end torque of the boxer was nice, but the handling on the V4S was superior to me so that’s the bike I went with. I don’t plan on doing any dirt riding so V4S was a clear winner for me. Plus the radar cruise control is AMAZING! GS 1300 has it but I got an AMAZING discount on the V4S where if I went for the GS1300 it would be full price since no dealer would discount a brand new model.
