I'll not agree with you, he seems like he doesn't rly know what he's saying and that type of men with his own beliefs. Just to begin with, V2 engines are very well known for reliability. I've looked at his reviews ... I find them lame. This is the reason why I'll never subscribe, he seems to have a disability when he speaks.
So it only took a year and a half to get a real, unbiased review from someone. Kudos to you. As an ex-owner of a Multi V4S, I'm with you on the engine being a bit jerky below 4k rpm. It is smooth by Ducati's standards, but I'm surprised every single journalist who got invited at the press launch failed to mention it... And I'm really glad you're touching on the off-road at the end, and the eye-watering cost of a simple tip-over.
and at the sales shop they say "hey its a motorcycle," and "or its the California emissions fault" ( though its Euro 5). In 2023 a $30k+ bike with niggles like stalling and surging, is "just the way it is". What happened to you pay for quality and superior design.
People ride differently - if it was me, I sure wouldn't be in 6th gear on those roads - probably not out of third. It is a motorcycle engine, it is a 4, it does like revs. I'm sort of puzzled that it is limited to 10k rpm.
You see this is what I like about you and your channel Scott, you are very accurate and don't miss anything which is what we're all looking for in a review ! Great as always ,thanks Scott ....Stuart ( the mad Yorkshireman)
Great review for a great piece of machinery. I have driven one of this, and I find her more like the S1000XR than the R1250GS, which I have. Anyway, I’m in love with this Ducati
You don't let the sexy bikes fool you, which is the key. That thing LOOKS fantastic. My friend has the last-gen version. He loves it. I've ridden it, a super rowdy bike on the road. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Scott. Yea, race horses look good, perform well but with that comes the "living with it day in and day out" that's where this does not do so well...at least for me. take care, Scott
You are not afraid to say that you would not buy an expensive motorbike. Wow. What a breath of fresh air in an often unbearably grovelly segment. I still want the bike! Thanks for the review :-)
Was absolutely blown away by this bike! Dream bike for me now, like a mix of S1000XR and R1250GS. Mileage is poor yes and price is high but wind protection, suspension, engine, perfect. Also want to try new Tiger 1200 to compare.
I demo rode a V4S Sport MS in July. Highly impressed with it. Loved it. Bought it. Most rowdy fun motorcycle I’ve ever owned, and I currently have 21 bikes in my collection. No, it’s not a hard core ADV bike, but I have a tricked out ‘17 Super Tenere and much modified Suzuki DR650 for that. I do take it down gravel roads, and some light two track trails. No mud, tho. This was a short review, and you failed to cover some of the more advanced tech. How all the electronic driver aides are adjustable. I have my abs set to 3 and the front Stylemas grab like a race bike. Maybe the mid ‘22 models have better pads? The rear brake doesn’t. I liked your racehorse/Clydesdale metaphor. I agree with that. 👍 I also agree that it’s not the best ADV bike at all, but a great all-around rip roaring bike. Place it in Dynamic, and let the wheelies begin!
330mm front disks. I have found that the ABS set to default can make the Brembos feel as if the disks are glazed. Taking the ABS down to a lower setting then gives me the 'bite' I'm accustomed to on Stylema brakes.
At 6'2, I found it to be a comfortable bike and the suspension was happy even with a passenger on my test ride. But agree with you, it's not really a dirt road, gravel road machine. I can't see myself trundling along for hours in first and second gear with this engine. But I think it would be an excellent highway machine if performance was your premium and presents a very good value in terms of scheduled maintenance costs compared to the BMW.
Yeah, I think you nailed it! I test rode one and thought that as an adventure bike it has its shortcomings. What I really liked was the motor (but not as an adventure bike, more like a spicy upright bulky bike!), the tech, the wind protection and the handling although the speed that you can carry can catch you out when approaching a bend. It's a Ducati, it's sporty, it's beautful. But for me it's too much for a bike in this sector.
Please upload the V2 video super fast 🙂. Have been watching this series and something tells me that the V2 is going to be the best of all worlds/bikes.
Good review again.... I much prefer low rev Torque before high power any day of the week and that means i still have'nt found a replacement for my BMW R1250GS... I will how ever testride the KTM 1290 SAS and SAR (Again), Two different Tiger 1200's, Yamaha T7 and Ducati Desert X in 2 weeks and maybe, just maybe i will find a replacement there even though i doubt it. The Tiger 1200 Rally seems to be the biggest competitor of the bunch though...
It took me a week to decide between the Multi and the Triumph GT Explorer. The Triumphs brakes are so much better than the Duc's, why who knows. Dealer network better comfort and shaft drive drove me to the Triumph but I still think about the Ducati every day.
Good review, I like your comparison sheet, very nice. Good job. The only thing I like to see added to your videos is the ergonomics when you are seating on bike from side at parked , not while driving!! Thanks

Hi Scott, what is your opinion about the quickshifter on the BMW 1250 gs 2022 which I have just taken possession at the dealer. Thanks for your work. 🏍
Well, on my 2021 1250 RT it works well at full throttle but everywhere else it's kind of clunky. 1st to 2nd is always a huge clunk unless at full throttle. Which on these bikes is rare to use 100% throttle, so just use the clutch there. 2nd and up at 30% throttle (which is normal for me) is ok, diffidently not the best but it works. BMW say it's the boxer motor, being a twin and so big but then I ask the question, well, what about Ducati, Triumph, KTM, Honda...etc, they don't have the same clunkyness. Then...no answer.... LOL! take care, Scott
Great bike but I preferred the V2S, waiting on delivery. With the V2S you can use more of the bike if that makes sense, fuel consumption of the V4 is much heavier too. Ducati are making some great bikes given their fast rising sales figures😀
Its was all about the HP but I believe we will get back to reality with the weight factor the 900 in my real world for a true adventure bike is even to much for me kudos to the guys that can take those 1200s and ride them anywhere they will go The desert x or norden 901 are what I consider an adventure bike adventure is subject to opinion maybe the pikes peak
Then Pikes Peak is where the motor belongs and the one I have ordered. Way too much money and I don't care for someday I will die and it won't matter. I'll get full race exhaust and associated ecu tuning which will help it not chug at 3000 rpm and gives a nice boost down there. It will run as Ducati intended. A face only a mother could love, the Ducati, not Scott 👎 An expensive Akrapovic that sounds like a tin can 👎 Brembo brakes which don't actually brake 👎 Power that only kicks in in the upper rev range 👎 Fuel consumption similar to a tractor 👎 An Adventure bike which doesn't take you on an Adventure 👎 That'll be Triple Two thumbs down from me, my ZZR's probably got more off road potential 😀

@@jr.6199 I've had Front Cog literally Shere off the engine.
All 4 bolts shered off.
You won't fix that.
Hence! I'm a shafting kind of guy
@@parasinthephilippines if you live your life based on anecdotes, it will get so weird you wont be able to walk out your front door. Science matters. If you could site some stats maybe you have something there.
I evaluated both this bike and the R1250GS. Went with the German wife instead of the Italian mistress…
So did I 👍😁
traded my 1250 GSA for the v4s, ive owned many bikes the v4s is the best period
because you need to shift down a gear
Yea 4th was too high for the speed he was going while he was in town
this is beyond gearing...

veeeery expensive
Its like the F900XR on steroids.
Haha what.
urm, It really isn't
It's like the F900XR if it was a twin, smaller, lighter, less powerful, less torque, better MPG. So very similar.............................. ;)
@@Ndeasington ..and boring.
Audi with two wheels . . .
how bout this for a perspective.... do ducati make amazing bikes? yes they do. do ducati race team get sponsorship from mce insurance that have gone bust and owe their customers a lot of money (not to mention writing off their customers marginally damaged bikes as write offs and then selling them on ebay)? yes they do.
🤣🤣🤣 yea probably 😢
@@NothingToProveThanks for your reply, it seems like that engine belongs in a sports/track bike, oh wait, that'll be the Pannigale V4, now there's a BIKE!!
Is 4 k the upper range? Sounds like a GS rider...driving the bus.
