I just wanted to let you know that I lost my brother unexpectedly to a brain aneurysm a week ago today. He was 56. It was a very emotional and exhausting week. I watch all of your videos and the John Deere episode helped me think about something else and even laugh! So thank you for all you do. Your videos go much deeper than just car restorations. I appreciate you bringing joy to a very painful week. I pray for continued success for you and your family. Thank you, guy!
Hey bud, I’m so sorry for your loss. The same thing happened to my mom 10 years ago. The only difference was someone was standing next to her when it happened and called 911. Keep your head up and live in your brothers honor and memory.
I’m sorry to hear this, I agree that this channel is something deeper than just fixing old cars up. I really feel that this family cares about the people who are watching and are staying down to earth as a result.
This has to be the BEST channel on UA-cam by far!!! I'm sitting in South Korea enjoying every video Derek puts out. Thanks for taking us on your journey to making this Ford look GREAT!
I spent the worst year of my life @ Kunson AB 85-86 though, i liked their food & still have some sneakers that are brand new, best wishes & don't drink too much SOJU, HAHA

I was already a lifetime fan! However, when you and Jessica said that you were considering the fact that there were people out there that were low income, and it was only fair that they could enter the contest you guys touched my heart! There are so many people out here on low income And a lot of them it is full of their own…. Tragic things happen to good people! It’s nice that you guys are real people and care about others! Great video!
Derek you should make your own “build sheet” and put it behind the seat or something so when the new owner gets the rig it will have something personal from you and for the truck
Thank you for mentioning the upholstery guys. I have been doing custom cars and upholstery for 47 years. My Dad had a upholstery shop in Western Kentucky for 50 yrs and he always used silicone spray or thin plastic on the corners to let them slide on. He also had a steamer but a feller could use a hairdryer to get the same results. Its amasing how it takes the wrinkles out once you get the material hot and stretch it. Great tip!!
Oh that truck is never gonna run right with GM foam in a Ford seat! 🙃 I swear you are opening a lot of eyes and changing the way people think about their content with these feature film length videos. Thanks as always.

One of the things that makes your channel so enjoyable to watch, is that it doesn't take 6 mo's worth of episodes to complete what you have accomplished here. It's far more preferable to watch without leaving a guy hanging weeks at a time before seeing how it's done, and gratifying to see the end results. I'm not even a ford guy, although this turned out so nice that I'm going to enter right now by purchasing some merch. for a chance that just maybe... I could own this 'ol rig. Thanks Derek.
Hey Derek.....headliner idea...sew a bunch of your VGG t-shirts together (as if making a quilt) and attach to the fiberboard or whatever and install back on the roof. What a reminder of its heritage and yours!!
I want them to design a vice grip garage edition flannel seat cover for like the square body trucks bump side Ford trucks with the vgg logo in the center of the seat cover i think that would be really neat!! Maybe a special trim and gold metallic thread version for Remington the vgg 4spd farm truck
My husband and I were scrolling thru UA-cam and we stumbled upon your site. YOU ARE A RIOT😂. We laughed a lot and now we look forward to watching your videos. Also what was refreshing was to see your sons being so respectful. Loved it and love watching. God bless your family.
But notice how respectful he is of the boys. He never is negative to them, always positive. He lets them do as much as they can and interjects positive comments to help when he needs to. And he always says "good job !". People can learn how to get a rig up and runnin' from him but they can also learn how to raise kids with respect.
Derek - tip for you and others doing upholstery work. Drape some thin plastic (2-3 mil) over those foam cushions before sliding new seat covers on. There's a lot of friction between the foam cushions and the foam on the underside of the new covers. They'll slide on like butter. Also, lay those new covers out in the sun on a warm day to soften them up just before installation. Same with the new carpet kit. Lastly, use a heat gun VERY carefully to warm up any wrinkles after the covers are installed, and use the palm of your hand to "iron" them out. After owning a classic auto upholstery shop for 45+ years, I've learnt a few things, and still learning. I love your tips about using the carpet protectors as a replacement for the door panel moisture shields, and the heated-up punch for making bolt holes in carpet. Gonna do that next time.....
If you have a soldering iron laying around you can use those to make the holes in the carpet too. Little less of a fire risk and it stays hot so you don’t have to keep reheating a punch. Did that for my 67 impala and it worked great
Every time I watch you , it brings back all the memories of when my dad was still alive it's almost the 1yr anniversary of when we lost him to cancer. He was a truck driver and once I got him watching vgg no matter how far he was we were always watching together and having a good laugh . Thank you for everything you do because atleast with my Dad he had something to help get his mind off of dying. You guys have no idea how much these videos mean to me.

I watch far too much UA-cam and this channel is the only one I know that constantly gets praised for its so-called “clean” language, even though most channels keep the swearing to a minimum or even avoid it completely. Really makes me wonder what else you people are watching. Also, your toddler will meet other people at some point in their life, and learn all the words.
Got my vicegrip garage t -shirt in the mail yesterday , wearing it now fits good looks better than the photos online . The truck is looking awesome . Someone is gonna be a lucky person.
Derk, here from South Africa. We had a 79 shortbed with the 300 cid motor. The 3 on the tree were swopped out for a 4 speed toploader box. I went home from the hospital in 1963 in a Ford, a 1960 Zepher (British Ford). Still driving a Ford, a 2018 Ranger 2.2l turbodiesel singlecab with a sixspeed manual gearbox. Thanks for the memories!!
You and your wife are very passionate in these restorations, excellent effort and as well as humor.!Your videos are the highlight of my Sunday evenings ! God bless you and your family.
My 9 month pregnant wife says the rig should be two tone blue and white... Yeah, I know, it's a little bold, but a guy doesn't usually disagree with a pregnant lady. 😄 All jokes aside, we're 27, married since 21, living in Minnesota, this will be our first baby and I'm so excited to introduce them to working on rigs like I do. I've been watching your videos since I got out of the Army a few years ago, used to be a mechanic in the Army, have an office job now, but still really enjoy wrenching on things. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride Derek and family! I also think this era Ford look really good with that chocolate brown color.
Blue over white 2-tone would look pretty snazzy on this rig. Guy that's painting my truck has an 80s square body he painted up that way in his shop right now, it looks real sharp!
Hey Derrick and Family I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. I’m a retired police officer with PTSD, so I don’t get out much, but your video’s put a smile on my face and really help to motivate me. I am rebuilding a 76 Mustang II, I can’t explain how much I look forward to watch your videos. I am a neighbour to the north lol Canada 🇨🇦 Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you for all of your videos Derek! I especially like the videos where you work with your family…your wife and your boys. I think it’s awesome that you’re spending time with them doing things you all love; and don’t let those who say they only want revivals get you down. There are lots and lots of us who enjoy all of your content including car interiors, tractor revivals in the snow, Sick Week, etc. Love it all, keep them coming! Blessings to you and your family!
Derek, you know what you're building? A tribute truck to Denver Pyle, aka Jesse Duke. As soon as I saw this truck, I immediately thought of him cause this is what he drove on The Dukes of Hazzard. You need to leave this white and basic just like his truck was. I understand the upgrade you want to do on the gauges, but the dentside Ford trucks have such a unique gauge cluster, it'd be a shame to change them. But keep up the good work and build up that 300. Hopefully, I be able to get my 65 Thunderbird done soon so I can take it to one of the car shows you frequent. It's be cool to meet you and your family.
I just started watching your channel about two weeks ago. Really like the revivals where you then drive hundreds of miles home. I ran out of those videos so I watched the original F100 videos from like two years ago. It's great timing that you're back on this truck again recently. This thing is a gem, glad you're putting money into it!
Have Ford trucks going to be awesome with all that new interior awesome paint jobs when you get all the grill and all that back in it might as well be a show truck but it's going to look like it's brand new were the old style look upgrade that's a thumbs up for me from me to you Derek
I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your channel. Very good old school wrenchin. Plus just good fun. Sorry you all were messed with and hope you get justice. Been turning wrenches for years and love showin the younger guys how to do it right, thanks and keep up the good work.
Oh man. I love me some Vice Grip Garage. Even when I'm having a bad day, this just cheers me right up. Love the awkward pauses staring into the camera. Pure gold.
My first vehicle was a 76 F100 Custom that was an old highway maintenance truck. Orange and rusty. A fellers grandfather bought it for him at a state auction and taught me how to turn wrenches. It was real nice by the time we were done. Was three o the tree but I begged my grandfather to put in a hurst speed shifter with a T-handle on the floor. Loved it!
Just so happens Im redoing a Firebird interior. 86, fortunately I found no rust holes. GM sure loved plastic clips that break when you look at them funny. 😂 and of course there are alot more bends, twists and things to go around in a third gen F Body, but I learned the hard way years ago to be very careful cutting.
Damn found myself talking like Derick in my garage when I was working on motorbike and making some of those sounds associated with him when working, had me laughing when I realized, Keep up the good work, have a cold snack for me here in Australia.
Man, I really love this truck and have truly loved watching you fix her up. Reminds me so much of the good old days. I can’t really get around well enough to do these kinds of things so much anymore, so having access to your videos is an amazing blessing to me. Thanks so very much!
Brought some tears to my eyes. From the side view while you were pressure washing it, it looked just like my 1976 Appliance white Ford F 100. My 1st brand new vehicle period. I had just joined the Air Force and then went into Little Rock Arkansas and bought the truck with 302 V-8 and rear bumper for the only options on the whole truck. No cigarette lighter or radio at all.
Really enjoy the long format restoration. I play it while working at the computer. And besides i sometimes worry about Derek driving those death traps home. Happy for your well earned success.
something to be said for these cars that don't track you wherever you go. Kind of refreshing actually. You do beautiful work. Really enjoy watching you practice your craft, notwithstanding that I don't have the knowhow, nor the tools nor courage to try out this sort of project. Amazing.
I inherited the twin of this truck in 1988 from the family of my deceased buddy, Tom. He bought it new and drove it all over Colorado and California. I used it for a couple of years and fell in love with that 300 6cyl with 3 on the tree. I passed it on to a family member in need of reliable transportation....wish I had it back. It's probably still running.
I grew up from diapers to graduation on a ranch and the farm truck was a 1970 red f100 300ci this build has gotten my heart. Love seeing this old truck go from great to amazing
Cuz I too suffered from a broken drive retainer years ago, to keep it from falling off, clean the stub well and giver a single wrap of black or red electricians tape. Red goes well with your red driver equipment shown. It keeps it on and works for a long time. Works like a charm. Then re-wrap it when you have to. Best of luck.
My wife and I did almost exactly the same thing (except for digital dash) to "Obie", our 1978 Full-size 4WD Bronco about 20+ years ago! Ours sported a 350-M (350 "Modified") V8 engine. This episode really took me back... Thanks Derek for a great project!
We enjoy watching, the quips and word displacements and the time your boys and wife spend with you. Your boys will learn and value the time forever, I hope. Looking forward to watch the next '78 F100 video! My dad and I had a '78 F100 as well.
I love this truck. When I was a kid my dad had 2 77 f100. A blue and silver race truck and red and silver mud truck. Memories are great of those vehicles.
Just got my hat and shirt. Only the second hat in my 58 years that actually fits my 5 gallon bucket head. Was just about to throw the shippong box away and was like why they put this bubble wrap in here and lo an behold I get a autographed fuel gauge. Made my day. Puttin my wagon in front of the horses but have already priced out a vintage air system cause hopefully that Wimbleton white F100 is comin to Jax Fl an it sure can get muggy down here. You guys thank us all the time but really it's the other way around. Youins are puttin on a great family show. Hope You know that.
Derek gets amazing to watch you taking us on this journey making us feel like we’re part of the family. Thank you so much and for my color choice I would say the Wimbledon white but maybe you could do a blue pearl like you did on the drag truck, or at least the blue pinstripe to match the blue dash get some blue on the outside, have a good one. Thank you.
I just stopped the video and looked up Retro Radio and I'll be buying this for my 87' GMC pickup. I've been putting off changing the radio because I don't really like the idea of cutting my dash and I'll never play cd's in my old truck so the Retro radio will be perfect!!!! Thank you so much! BleepBloop
The music in this episode was brilliant!! 😂😂 Thank you for your wonderful sense of humor, Derek. A feller and fellette here thinks you are one groovy guy.
Love how clean and simple the interior is Derek! The modern conveniences of new vehicles is nice, but there's something to be said for more simpler days....
I would love see it in the original white color. I had one like this in High School. It was the first vehicle I bought with my own money in 1986. It was Metrocenter Mall's Lawn and Garden truck and was also white like yours, except it had a giant red and blue Mall logo panted on both doors which was not very cool to have in High School. LOL Anyway, I worked on it as much as I could, then took it to a local Jr. College to get it painted, and it wound up being worse than what I started with but at least the Mall logos were gone. I had it for almost two years and when I was coming home from work one day, I hydroplaned into a ditch during a bad thunderstorm and it totaled the truck. It would certainly be great to win this, but best of luck to whoever is fortunate enough to get it.
As I sat watching another excellent VGG video, I couldn't help but think that if a guy was to make a list of his favorite go to products and a list of his favorite vendors for parts and things used on his restorations, I for one would pay for such a list...just food for thought on a way to make a few extra bucks whilst providing a great service to all your loyal followers.
Derek, when fitting a tight seat cover, spray the foam with a silicone base spray, makes it so much easier. We did it when we refurbished the London "Routmaster" buses for London transport. The famous big red bus with rear open entry.
A little tip for a lone wolf test light- Sometimes when I have to test for power to a connector that's far from the switch or out of line of sight I use my lone Wolf test light. It's just a door buzzer from under the dash of a 70 Chevy connected to wires with small alligator clips on the ends. With that I can test for power and just listen for the buzzer. It's great for testing for power at a fuel pump connector. For something like that I just clipped the alligator clips to a couple of paper clips and how it has connector probes. By the way I love what you're doing with the truck!
I really like the color blue. Maybe something to match that original dash color. But for the sake of you not having to paint the door jams, maybe white is the way to go
You should really consider putting sound deadener self adhesive pads on the floor and in the ceiling, I did that in my 68 and it makes a huge difference and keeps it from sounding like a tin can.
I just recently found this channel as I have several others. I must say that you sir are absolutely amazing at what you do and how you keep us entertained. Been working on vehicles all my life and have always wished that I could do it as my full time job. You are showing me how I can do just that. Thank you Derek!
I just received my two t-shirts I ordered. Love everything about them...from the packaging right up to the fit and quality. A fella can be proud of his merchandise 🎉🎉
You go above and beyond explaining and doing things correctly, I'm absolutely impressed with your expertise on all types and models of vehicles you work on. Keep up the great work
Beautiful job Derek! I was relieved to see you put a stock type steering wheel in! Nothing like a stock wheel. Thank you for all your hard work in all of your videos!
Glad to see an older truck (even if it's a Ford 🤪) brought back to life. As far as the paint, why not 2 tone original white top and the dash blue bottom or visa versa whichever floats your boat.
I really love your content, but must admit that this restoration is much better than the lipstick method that is usual. This is my third time watching this video! Great stuff!
Bringing back to white is awesome! The only other option that would be agreeable would be Stars and Stripes! It would look epic...but that's a ton of work. So, yeah... Wimbledon White is great!
Best one yet, and I ain't kidding ya!!!!! Love it. Can a fella get a Howdy ???????????????? Very well rounded channel but I love the old stuff stuff it's dying out... your kidding it alive!!! Thank you Derek!!!! Been here since you have less then 200 followers in your house garage. You guys are truly an inspiration for those who what to wrench or there rigs
Great episode. Love the approach by doing it the way most guys can appreciate and duplicate. You and Jessica really did pull off a great interior restoration. I found your channel during Covid and it was a sanity saver for this old guy.
I grew up helping my Dad in the garage...love seeing your boys in there with you, and Jessica of course! My first car was a '71 Ford Maverick, automatic, 302 V8 (blue of course) and for the most part, I did all my own motor cranking myself - I was always a tomboy, so, it seemed a natural thing to do. Sure wish the wing windows and hand-crank windows would return; also the ability for a fella or fell-ette to get greasy if they want to without all the computerization of everything. This truck would surely be super to own. Love your detailed demonstrations/explanations and Derek-isms! Uff-da!
My dad's old truck was Marlin Blue. Love that color on a Ford. Whatever you do, we know it's gonna be a goin' to town rig any of us would be proud to own! The white does look good, but I think I'd do a good ol Ford Blue if it was me.... Plus it wouldn't look bad with the darker blue dash! You inspire me to get going on my bus!
Good to see the og s10 winning races again it's been a while I agree with tommy it would have done well in small tyre took tailgate easy anyways killa video as always.. also good to see uncle bob at the track...
“Can’t be tight if it’s liquid” had me dying Derek. That needs to be a VGG t-shirt.

By far the best channel for the genera. I like that he still keeps budget in mind for people like myself (not always, but that’s fair).
My truck is Wimbledon White and Hugger Orange. I love it. The white is an off white.

Hearing my 5yr old say " oofta" warms my heart lol. He says it all the time and at the right time it's great....Tshirt idea... 🤔
Oofta may!!!
I caught myself saying “oofta” 637 times while I was skiing (and falling) last weekend. Took me a good bit to realize where I’d picked that up.

hell start saying" fuel make it happener", "lightening whirler," digical guages, "oofta", "I'll be dipped"
@@heidimccall3497 "well HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS"
I watch far too much UA-cam and this channel is the only one I know that constantly gets praised for its so-called “clean” language, even though most channels keep the swearing to a minimum or even avoid it completely.
Thanks for the support!
Wish we had the 2 door Ranger here in the USA.
The entertainment value in this one is great, thanks!
Derek is my favorite human. He took over Tom cruise's spot. ! Derek for president! I think he would do a great job. Let's go!
Why would you wish that upon a guy? President is a miserable job.
@@Christopher_R to bring back the golden rule.
You never read about Cruise's "background"?
I just started watching your channel about two weeks ago. Really like the revivals where you then drive hundreds of miles home. I ran out of those videos so I watched the original F100 videos from like two years ago. It's great timing that you're back on this truck again recently. This thing is a gem, glad you're putting money into it!
Thanks to the Bieri family for their hard work and dedication to old cars and family values
You gotta call that truck uncle Jesse it’s just like the truck uncle Jesse drove in the Dukes of hazzard
Have Ford trucks going to be awesome with all that new interior awesome paint jobs when you get all the grill and all that back in it might as well be a show truck but it's going to look like it's brand new were the old style look upgrade that's a thumbs up for me from me to you Derek
🎶SAVE BIG MONEY AT MENARDS🎵
Keep doing what you're doing Derrick. Love watching your videos from NZ 🇳🇿
something to be said for these cars that don't track you wherever you go.
Silly fun show. You are the best teacher i ever had
Just wanna give a yas a big thanks. You make me laugh so much. It’s very healing for me. I love your attitude , thanks again. From Alberta, Canada
That rattle can and your technique is excellent. The doors look great!
Love how clean and simple the interior is Derek! The modern conveniences of new vehicles is nice, but there's something to be said for more simpler days....
Just purchased a bunch of stuff to get entries in.....fingers crossed...Good Luck to all...
Fantastic 2 hour movie! Hilarious! You make me laugh out loud! That truck will be beautiful when completed!
First time I ever heard another fella say more gooderer!!!! Love the channel and actually bought myself a motor juice shirt so I can win this beauty!
You asked for color choice, I say red with white upper part of the cab, very classic. I truly enjoy your videos and the TV show.
Derek, when fitting a tight seat cover, spray the foam with a silicone base spray, makes it so much easier. We did it when we refurbished the London "Routmaster" buses for London transport. The famous big red bus with rear open entry.
A little tip for a lone wolf test light-
Sometimes when I have to test for power to a connector that's far from the switch or out of line of sight I use my lone Wolf test light.
But for the sake of you not having to paint the door jams, maybe white is the way to go
The two prong wire going across the floor on the driver side is absolutely the seat belt buzzer
You are just absolutely amazing, nothing you can’t figure out! Just one step at a time, never any frustration.
I love the both VGG and Roadworthy Rescues, but I love the freedom and depth you get from VGG. Keep up the great work!
This was just what we were looking for. A general how-to for a refresh on the interior without having to rob the IRA or 529. It looks GREAT!
Love this episode, the world is a better place with you guys around . Love watching all of it .
Glad to see an older truck (even if it's a Ford 🤪) brought back to life. As far as the paint, why not 2 tone original white top and the dash blue bottom or visa versa whichever floats your boat.
I can’t believe how nice this truck is. Nice job man
Build it any way you want as I'm not fussy and will enjoy it no matter what. Thanks
White with Ford blue pearl would look nice on the truck Derrick, love the progress, good job
I really love your content, but must admit that this restoration is much better than the lipstick method that is usual. This is my third time watching this video! Great stuff!
Love you and your family. This show makes me laugh. I'd like to see the f100 cobalt blue. 5:45 PM
Go Jessica. Good job with the seat. ❤
Uff-da!
Make sure to powder coat the whole thing white… you know “spitz, spitz”. It looks sharp with the white… and the dash blue. Thanks!
You could get a wood grain laminate and wrap the door handles... dunno if it would match the rest of the interior, but it'd work...
My grandpa had a 78 Ford in that blue color and my oh my is it a gorgeous color. Real head turner.
Yep definitely need too paint it white keep it original. With the blue dash and seat will look awesome in my opinion.
