After failing to get our 100 year old engine running in our 1927 Ford Model T it is time to pull the tired old motor out as well as clean it up and remove the fenders and inspect how much rust we are going to have to repair. Let's make a Model T a race car! What engine do you think we should put in it?

You are half-way to a TROG build - find a running Model A or flat head, add some pre war go fast parts, fix the rust and dust in the patches, hand paint some numbers of the doors, and take her up to Wildwood and race it on the beach! it would be a quick, inexpensive, period build that will get a lot of attention.

My old craftsman tool set came with a set of 5 square drive sockets, where they look like 8 sided sockets. I use them for random stuff, where regular sockets don’t work, but never worked on an actual square nut. The square drive sockets probably used to be really common in mechanics sets.
And I know speedway sells model T frames, fully boxed rails, for pretty cheap, like $500. But you have to do all the mounts and measuring yourself.

As well as front spindle selection, brake combo, front axle, steering box and 4 link suspension. It makes for smooth driving vehicle. Worth the money, I have driven a few rat rods and they are a hand full.

Any color you want as long as it’s black only applies to the really old model T’s. This was due to the black paint would dry faster and it held up better. A few years into production paint technology advanced enough that they were offered in quite a few different colors. Red is completely possible as an original color.
I learned this when I went to the Henry Ford museum myself standing right next to the 15 millionth model T, there was an employee there giving information about it. He was also explaining how stuff worked using the cut away in the same building.

You can stroke the 2.3 to a 2650 and will put out over 300hp with the Svo aluminum head and intake with thunder valley header. I use to race a mini modified dirt car . The 8.8 rear from a mustang and the front clip from a pinto will work great on coil over Shocks at all 4 corners. 308 or 345 in the rear gear. By the was, always ck the exhaust pipes and exhaust manifold for being stopped up/ plugged before trying to start old engine that has been setting. It will hit but Wil never run. 1350 pounds.

I like your idea of installing a 4cyl. 2.0 or 2.3l Lima engines love turbos! In the thought of SVO Mustangs, they were light and peppy, don't need a lot of room. Your ideas are great, looking forward to this one and the Maverick. If the Maverick had a 300, it would be an insane torque monster, especially if you visit Clifford performance. Offenhauser has some parts to make a 3hundy Radical. Eg... Dual plane 4bbl aluminum intake by Offenhauser, 390cfm vac secondary Holley 4bbl, Hedman full length dual output header, Mallory ignition or MSD. BTW F-250 and F350 6cyls had flat top pistons from factory.

Build a 445 Stroker FE Ford for it. Take a truck block from a F100-F250 (Not F350 because a lot of those were 332). Have it machined and bored for a Scat stroker kit 4.25” stroke. Get some used aluminum heads and have a valve job done and buy a Triple Deuce Intake for it.

One of the neetest looking motors ive seen in a vintage car like this is gm's quad four. Stripped down and cleaned up they look wicked. And run awsome also.

An ecoboost 4 cyl with a T5 transmission would be right up your alley, being turbocharged and all.

Think I would use the aftermarket frame with late model steering and suspension, then a fairly late model V-6 setup with automatic transmission (over drive) with the cruiser look. Very awesome and very street able for the use of all your fam individually or together! ❤
