Did a similar thing back in 1988- A young kid I knew was hard worker- he used to take a bus to my shop and do various jobs. His family didn't have a lot, so he was on his own to get a vehicle. OJ and Alex, you're a class act. OJ for going out of his way and employing this kid even though there wasn't an open position. And Alex for responding to the call and finding the perfect vehicle for a 16 year old to start his wrenching career on. Somewhere down the track this kid will be fixing vehicles like a pro and paying it forward to those who need a little help.
Mad props to Alex and OJ for helping that kid out. 👏 That kid is making the story almost all car enthusiasts say.. Want a job at a shop that ain't hiring, maybe annoyed yall till he got a job. Freaking walked to work. I don't mean none of this comment in a mean or demeaning way. He put his pride to the side to work at that shop. How many 16 year olds would walk to a job?? That teen is writing his "how I got started in cars" story right now. Now, yall are a part of his best automotive memories . Remember when yall started and show him what yall wish somebody would have done for you.
What an absolute unselfish geniually amazing thing to do. It's refreshing that In today's world this happens. Your a breath of fresh air. Major props. A lifetime fan made here in the uk.
What a nice thing to do for that young man. That is a lifetime memory. Most of us have a story on how hard getting our first was. You and OJ are great guys.

We don't look alike but I think a lot like you. Your positivity absolutely makes me smile. Thank you for your kick ass content. I feel you on the snow thing.
My mom bought one of these back in 2006. My favorite vehicle my mom’s ever owned. We took it on many family road trips across the country. Was a great car for us and had a little pep to it when you floored it!
28:30 quick tip about the pathfinder glovebox, you can squeeze the sides near the catches to release them past the trim to make it drop down. Don't need to unscrew the whole trim to get to the cabin filter. Well that's for the right hand drive model so I presume it's the same here.
These videos are why we support LSC and why some of us started watching your channel back in the day when you gave the Mercedes away to the veteran, glad to see you back to doing this. Time to buy more merch to support the channel further.
And this is why I love this channel. Alex does all the work himself, while teaching his viewers in the process, he’s positive, genuine and extremely generous. Keep up the amazing content!
Really appreciate how you still work on stuff that just about anyone can afford. Neat to dream about finding a crazy deal at an auction and fixing it up, even more fun to watch you do it! Not many YT'ers have a McLaren in the garage at home and will put out an hour long video on a $500 Pathfinder.
What an anxious kid. You came through RIGHT when the universe said he needed you. The universe was speaking to you all to come together at just the right time for this kid. Youre one helluva guy, and the universe needs more guys like you.
Another big issue with the 4.0 Nissans are the Oil Pressure Switch. Easy fix. Oil leaking from Valve Covers for sure. Cam and Crank sensors are probably covered in Oil. Also they may have sent it there because it needs Cats. Nissan decided to put 4 Cats on these things. They're like $400 each.
@lenicoleman6680 going down to a single cat won't work, going down to 2 is, some aftermarket universal ones. Or if not in a state with emissions delete them all entirely. Nissan cats suck, very common issue.
Yea, I’ve replaced my cats 3 times on my 05’ Xterra. I gutted them after the 3rd time. I won’t have to worry about them breaking apart and destroying the engine.
This generation of Pathfinder is the OG beast. A true qualified off- roader. Engine that can last forever. This is not the newer CVT transmission and weak AWD PF. This is a true work horse. Great job Alex giving this kid a great first car.
13:27 Hey Alex! Those stamps on the radiator end tank are inserts in the mold used to make it. Ithe first notes the material: Nylon 6-6 with 30% glass fiber content. The rest just gives the mold operator three inserts that they twist with a small screwdriver to indicate the day, month, and year it was run! I'd read it as April 9th, 2006. Hope it helps!
If I was based in the USA and Alex needed help on a project, I'd be instantly available to help just because of how kind hearted he is. Keep it up Alex! Much respect.
I appreciate you and oj for looking out for a dedicated individual seeking their first vehicle. There aren’t too many kids that can afford the first cars and anyone capable of helping is always a beautiful gesture. To all kids out there. Be safe on the road and remember driving is a privilege.
Alex, your channel name couldn't be more perfect with legit street cars, because you are one of the most legit human beings out there, given that you tend to focus on things that you enjoy rather than chasing the popular cars for content. Im not a Nissan bloke but over the last few years I've acquired 2 of them, Both V6's :-) An 03 VG30 Navara (D22 Frontier) twin cab ute (Pickup) and a 95 Maxima VQ30, Both Autos and both high mileage and im darned impressed with both of them especially the A32 Maxima. My 4x4 is a 97 TDi Landrover Discovery (I had an ML but she got too old) and im in the middle of replacing the engine but the Pathfinder has got me thinking about something for the Wife to buzz around in.... They do seem well engineered and comfy!
Absolutely outstanding @Alex and @OJ .. Before I retired from Law Enforcement.. My favorite thing I implemented in my department was “Shop with a Cop”.. To me, it was the MOST rewarding feeling in all my 23 years. This young man will remember this for the rest of his life. Stay blessed guys!!
I strongly recommend the undercoating / metal protector from Amsoil.. I live in Pittsburgh and basically get the same weather as Chicago; I undercoated my 2022 Audi before last winter and it has kept it looking fantastic and protected all for about 50 bucks..
Hi Alex! Michael from north of Sweden here. We got our first snow last week, under 30h we got 75cm snow, that's 29.5 inch. Merry Christmas and Happy Thanksgiving to all the LSC family. Also to OJ and Fluid Motor Union for giving that boy a job and encouraging him in the right direction. This is the type of behavior we need more of these days.
I am pretty sure you have heard this before… but JUST in case… When installing spark plugs - using a fuel or vacuum line that fits over the end - allows for flexibility - and wont strip threads as it will allow it to slip before applying too much torque🙂 Super helpful especially in hard to reach places. You’re welcome! ✅😎
when changing the cabin air filter take a blower and blow up and any leaves still in there they will come out otherwise all those leaves stuck in the intake will put that garbage right back into the filters
Lsc has always been spot on, but when you share your air time and your copart says thanks for helping with this "Problem" it's not a problem It's an honor and LSC is why I know that. Alex you and your wonderful people attached to this program are awesome but you have to protect your credibility.
respect for the kind hearted giveaway of that truck I thought you were planning on keeping it for a winter beater. but you ended up giving away the truck. You have a good heart Alex. This is the second time. I'm seeing you giving away a car. first car was the best Jeep respect man god bless you
I don't off road a pathfinder but I do overland an 05 xterra. Bought 1 owner mechanic owned 160k arizona vehicle for 2k. I did do the timing chains and guides as well as water pump and it is an absolute joy to drive. Coming from being a jeep guy and a 7.3 diesel guy I am impressed with how well it rides.
Had the same one but in white and only rear drive. Used it for a couple years then sold it to a friend who really needs a car for his lady. It has good power. I just purchased an 04 Frontier from my brother. He put a motor for the customer who just abandoned it after it's fixed.
I can tell you I own a 2019 Frontier and I get the flashing airbag warning light all the time. I get the dealer to clear it and it inevitably comes back. I just ride with it. Apparently their electronics aren't the best. I also had to unhook the battery before because all the dash lights went out and that fixed it. Apparently it's common.
I bought a used ‘08 Pathfinder LE around 2013(?). It had low miles, was in mint condition, had every option available and had all dealer service records when I bought it. I took great care of it and really liked it. A handful of years later it had a little over 100K miles & was still running perfectly. I was driving home from work one evening and it quickly began to sputter badly & lose power to the point that it wouldn’t move forward or backwards so I pulled to the shoulder as it basically died. I let it sit for a few min & decided to disconnect the battery, thinking maybe it had a computer glitch or faulty fuel injectors, etc. long story long, I had it towed & found out that all four catalytic convertors had somehow failed at the same time & basically destroyed the engine. Not sure how this is possible in course of @ 3 miles, but it soon wound up in the salvage yard & I was broke & bummed!!!
i enjoy your videos so much! you're genuine, go in depth on everything and not waste time talking without doin nothing or saying useless stuff... you got me tied to projects i'm not even interested in like this! best wishes, big hug from Italy ❤
Awesome to see you showing the love Alex with giving that kid the Pathfinder. Love your videos, and even though I've done a lot of work on cars in the past, I'm always learning from your videos. Looking forward to the next one. From Aussie.
They are great off road! I put in a 3” body lift for 120$ ! Up next is a Titan Swap, Check the Cats, They can plug and go back thru the engine, Great video Alex
As a proud owner of an '06, be careful with the radiator overflow tube, after many years it gets brittle and will snap off. Same for the heater core in the passenger side into the firewall. A brass barb tee worked a treat for a replacement. I can't remember the size though, maybe 3/4". And yes all the connectors suck.
Every time I watch a LSC video Alex just keeps on producing "Car" videos that are so much more. The interactions with people are just the best and Alex is obviously genuinely interested in helping people and making them happy. These videos are so much more than Auto repair videos and I love tuning into them each week.
These are solid, reliable trucks. Had a 2012 that protected my wife and kid from a very bad rear end collision. Very well made, short turn radius. Moved to a JEEP GC and boy did I messed up 😂, waiting on the new Armada to come out.
For that rust, take old auto transmission fluid, put in a spray bottle with 1/10th acetone and spray the entire rusted areas. Also soak the inner doors with it. Works fantastic on preventing rust
Hi Alex, love your videos. These older nissan engines use bad paper gaskets from the factory on the oil galleries in the front of the engine. The upgraded version is metallic, in keeping with the spirit of the cheap pathfinder you can make your own out of copper, this should solve your oil pressure issue. you access these oil galleries by removing the front timing cover but keep track of the cover bolts they have different lengths.
Its nice to see a young kid out there doing what it takes to own a car. So many kids these days are spoiled and apathetic. You picked what seems like a great family to donate the car.
I watch a lot of car youtube, but nothing scratches the itch or lights me up more than seeing a new video notification for LSC. Thank you Alex for continuing to deliver genuine content for the everyday guy!
Cool Alex passing on the car love to the younger generation, great gifting too. So love your humor and joy of working these cars over - my favorite channel.
As you know by now, I was a Nissan Master Tech. Check the shock towers for rust and rot. There was a recall/TSB for the towers rotting out. The fix was welding in patches. The hole in the headliner is for a rear seat entertainment screen. It was optional in the LE. Someone removed it. In addition to the milkshake of death, things to watch for are the secondary timing chain guides, The recirc door actuator, fuel level sender, motor mounts and catalytic converters. Word of caution... If you replace the cats, spring for the OEM. Nissan ECM's don't like aftermarket cats and will pop a 420 or 430 code after just a few months with an aftermarket cat. Oh, and ALL Nissan V6's have issues with crank and cam sensors. Again, use OEM, not aftermarket. @19:06... Notice how the green lock is pushed in? When you install the new sensor, make sure that lock snaps back out. If it doesn't, you'll have issues. This is also a common problem. Use a pick on the sensor side of the lock to press on the center of the lock. This will snap it back. @23:03... Were any of the coils wet? If they are, you have to replace the valve cover since the spark plug tube seals are not serviceable. Also, the front coil comes out without removing the manifold. You pop the coil head off the tube and pull each part out separately. @29:04... The clip holds the door. The screw isn't missing, it's not installed from the factory. However, the clip usually breaks off on the second or third replacement, so we just find a 6mm bolt to go in the hole. @34:12... It's probably just a fuse. @39:20... That oil ramp should be straight. Pretty sure it bolts on. @42:45... The TPMS light is because one or more sensors has a dead battery. These Nissan sensors need to be replaced about every 3 years. BTW, the LE not only has 4 hi and 4 low, it also has auto. The LE came with a full time 4wd system. The SE didn't get that.
Respect Alex. Going to get all my ams oil products through you now. Because of your non clickbait good deed. Nice to see a kid who deserves it get a lil help. Bet he will have that thing for a long time ! I had one and miss it.
I've done the crank position sensor on my Pathfinder before. You can turn the wheel all the way to the left and remove the liner. The wheel can stay on and you can replace it on the ground. Not too bad a job even if you don't have a lot of tools. You need need a 10mm and an extension.
Own an 05 pathfinder also, oil guage is normal for this year. I rebuilt the transmission in my 2006 that stayed with the ex. Best all round vehicle i have owned, towed well over 14k miles with the 06 and when i rebuilt the transmission for a slipped case circlip that left the vehicle with a hard clunking into reverse i was amazed at how little wear there was. Replacement radiators will solve the trans cooler issue. Be aware of vibration from front end that feels like out of balance tires, my 05 had bad u-joints on the front driveshaft.
Mad respect all the way from Australia Alex! You're an inspiration to myself and clearly others by reading these comments. This is why I keep watching your videos. Would love to be able to do what you do! Be able to give such a worthy young dude a chance to own and work on his first car. Props to you and OJ! If I'm ever in the states and I can get to any event you run I will!
Hey, for spark plugs that are down deep in the head like that, I have always used a long piece of rubber hose that fits tight over the plug to screw them in and out and it also makes it very easy to get the plug up and down out of the hole without damage or dropping it. Just something to keep in mind.

That was real nice of you, Alex. I hope this young man appreciates it, which I think he does and will be a fellow motorhead for a long time.
A new Legit Street Cars vid on a weekday!!! HELL YEAH!!! 🙌🏻
I just want to say that I have been watching you a long time and you remind me of someone I like. It has been bothering me for a while but I have figured it out. It's me.
He looks like a decent kid, so I think he deserves a gift like that. Drive safe. Congratulations for giving him a gift like that.
28:30 quick tip about the pathfinder glovebox, you can squeeze the sides near the catches to release them past the trim to make it drop down. Don't need to unscrew the whole trim to get to the cabin filter. Well that's for the right hand drive model so I presume it's the same here.
Good job fluid and Legit, that was a very good gift for the young guys. The world needs more guys like you. Well done.
This is precisely where this Pathfinder belongs. Legit dreams come true
As much as I love the 80-90s stuff, it just as entertaining to watch an average auction vehicle get a second life given it’s more relatable for many.
Can you delete down to just one cat and add some simulators?
@lenicoleman6680 going down to a single cat won't work, going down to 2 is, some aftermarket universal ones. Or if not in a state with emissions delete them all entirely.
Nissan cats suck, very common issue.
Yea, I’ve replaced my cats 3 times on my 05’ Xterra. I gutted them after the 3rd time. I won’t have to worry about them breaking apart and destroying the engine.
Also in the next 10k-15k miles those rings are going to be shot and burning a qt every 600 miles.
@ Yep. Thankfully I have not experienced any oil consumption. Oil stays full till I change it every 5k. Mine has 210,000 miles.
Cool, I only got the April 09, 2006, part but didn't understand the plastic type part.
I'd say you're spot on with the date.
If I was based in the USA and Alex needed help on a project, I'd be instantly available to help just because of how kind hearted he is. Keep it up Alex! Much respect.
I bought an 03 Pathfinder aboutt 4 days ago for 1800 USD, 247k miles and she's mint, love the thing.
While more importantly, being humble and generous, with the giveaways and food/toy drives.
Alex you are such a great fella , that young lad you helped is so lucky to have people like you around him .
Best technical youtube channel by a mile .
Happy Thanksgiving! What are you guys doing this week?
Watching LSC!🍻
Ive got a live performance at a hip hop concert tonight in Boston‼️ wish me luck
I'm on day 27 of working, im about to take a whole ass week off lol
Eating 😭
Lake Nona turkey trot at 7am ugh, then eating!
Heck yeah. That kid is super stoked. Not everybody shows excitement the same way. Put a big smile on my face after a long couple weeks.
Im not a Nissan bloke but over the last few years I've acquired 2 of them, Both V6's :-)
An 03 VG30 Navara (D22 Frontier) twin cab ute (Pickup) and a 95 Maxima VQ30, Both Autos and both high mileage and im darned impressed with both of them especially the A32 Maxima.
I’m from the Chicago suburbs, and what a beautiful thing you do for are younger generation. Thank you
I strongly recommend the undercoating / metal protector from Amsoil.. I live in Pittsburgh and basically get the same weather as Chicago; I undercoated my 2022 Audi before last winter and it has kept it looking fantastic and protected all for about 50 bucks..
2 in a week, you are 2 kind Brother. We Love you Alex, Love from Denmark. Now go make America great again, Buddy
I wonder if he'll sneak into a beauty pageant dressing for teenage girls or pay a prostitute for NOT doing her😮.
..?
I love such gifts. Thanx Alex for your kindness. You make that young man so happy. Greets from Germany.
Hi Alex! Michael from north of Sweden here. We got our first snow last week, under 30h we got 75cm snow, that's 29.5 inch. Pretty normal short snowstorm here, what's hard is to stay awake all the time it takes to plow our roads. Love to see you spoil us with some good entertainment in the middle of the week. Blessing to you and your family.
Been a big fan of swedish death metal since my teens, would love to move somewhere up there from germany. Hail odin and enjoy the snowy times.
That kid who go the car really I could tell is going to be a great mechanic. He seems like a great kid and has a very humble and chill vibe which will carry him very far with the right folks like you guys to guide him a little. Thank you so much for giving him that car. Man that brought a tear to my eye because that was definitely the most wholesome thing I’ve seen in a while. He will never forget that. God bless you brother.
Now let’s just hope he doesn’t get a ticket for driving too fast lol. ❤
Awesome, simply awesome. New a kid like him back in high school, wanted to get into automotive repair and became a wizard at it. I applaud what you and O.J. did for this kid and what could come from it.
What a heartwarming moment.. I was given a car recently and all I can say is I know how amazing it feels! Thanks 🙏
Alex I don’t even know what to say. Giving that truck to that young man almost made my eyes sweat. Lol I feel like a better person just watching your channel. God bless you and your family my man. Merry Christmas and Happy Thanksgiving to all the LSC family. Also to OJ and Fluid Motor Union for giving that boy a job and encouraging him in the right direction. This is the type of behavior we need more of these days.
I am pretty sure you have heard this before… but JUST in case…
When installing spark plugs - using a fuel or vacuum line that fits over the end - allows for flexibility - and wont strip threads as it will allow it to slip before applying too much torque🙂
Super helpful especially in hard to reach places.
You’re welcome! ✅😎
Mid week video? Best Wednesday ever
I have an old 4.0 Xterra and it has been the best. Full frame, actual t-case, etc. I love the thing after almost 10 years of ownership
when changing the cabin air filter take a blower and blow up and any leaves still in there they will come out otherwise all those leaves stuck in the intake will put that garbage right back into the filters
You not only helped that kid out, but it sounds like he just got the best/most reliable car in his entire family. You're the man, Alex!
Thankful for a mid-week LSC 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃 And grateful your family is kind enough to share you on this busy holiday week.
Lsc has always been spot on, but when you share your air time and your copart says thanks for helping with this "Problem" it's not a problem
It's an honor and LSC is why I know that.
Man, that is so cool of you! Stoked for the kid 👏
47:12........WIIICKKEDDDD 😂
Awesome to see you showing the love Alex with giving that kid the Pathfinder.
Love your videos, and even though I've done a lot of work on cars in the past, I'm always learning from your videos.
Looking forward to the next one.
From Aussie.
That was such a crazy find. Congrats Alex I'm jealous, I need to find a deal like this for my wife haha.
They are great off road! I put in a 3” body lift for 120$ ! Up next is a Titan Swap, Check the Cats, They can plug and go back thru the engine, Great video Alex
Thanks Alex for breaking up the week with a new video. Wow, that Typhoon does look small.
That is why i love your content. Always smiling and you are a humble person. May God be with you and your family
A pre Thanksgiving legit street cars episode hell yeah brother 😎💪
As a proud owner of an '06, be careful with the radiator overflow tube, after many years it gets brittle and will snap off. Same for the heater core in the passenger side into the firewall. A brass barb tee worked a treat for a replacement. I can't remember the size though, maybe 3/4". And yes all the connectors suck.
I guarantee he’s fixing this car to give it to someone in need for Christmas. What an awesome guy!!
I knew it!!!!
Every time I watch a LSC video Alex just keeps on producing "Car" videos that are so much more. The interactions with people are just the best and Alex is obviously genuinely interested in helping people and making them happy. These videos are so much more than Auto repair videos and I love tuning into them each week.
Alex has the best timing ever. Ill gladly drop what i was doing for a Lsc upload. Happy thanksgiving everybody!
These are solid, reliable trucks. Had a 2012 that protected my wife and kid from a very bad rear end collision. Very well made, short turn radius. Moved to a JEEP GC and boy did I messed up 😂, waiting on the new Armada to come out.
Nissans always need crank sensors lol
The new Ariya doesn't... lol
Yep just did mine lol. Luckily denso/hitachi sensors aren’t that expensive
Dude, I'm at home sick right now, and this literally made me feel better. I've been a subscriber for years now. You're the man, Alex!
you're an awesome guy, sure would have liked to have heard the exhaust on the van, maybe next video?
For that rust, take old auto transmission fluid, put in a spray bottle with 1/10th acetone and spray the entire rusted areas. Also soak the inner doors with it. Works fantastic on preventing rust
I heard the fart at 19:34 🤣
😂
Hi Alex, love your videos.
These older nissan engines use bad paper gaskets from the factory on the oil galleries in the front of the engine. The upgraded version is metallic, in keeping with the spirit of the cheap pathfinder you can make your own out of copper, this should solve your oil pressure issue.
you access these oil galleries by removing the front timing cover but keep track of the cover bolts they have different lengths.
Yesssss LSC episode!!! Let’s goooo!
Its nice to see a young kid out there doing what it takes to own a car. So many kids these days are spoiled and apathetic. You picked what seems like a great family to donate the car.
Will this be a Christmas present for someone in need?
Keep watching!!
I watch a lot of car youtube, but nothing scratches the itch or lights me up more than seeing a new video notification for LSC. Thank you Alex for continuing to deliver genuine content for the everyday guy!
My first Thanksgiving alone in 31 years, I'm going to binge watch this channel and others . Such a great feeling seeing this
Cool Alex passing on the car love to the younger generation, great gifting too. So love your humor and joy of working these cars over - my favorite channel.
The weird cloth on the roof is probably some media screen that got removed.
I thought that in the first video, maybe after market and they wanted it back
As you know by now, I was a Nissan Master Tech.
I truly wanted to see this one getting cleaned and buffed. But I'm happy for the kid. Thank you Alex.
Respect Alex. Going to get all my ams oil products through you now. Because of your non clickbait good deed. Nice to see a kid who deserves it get a lil help. Bet he will have that thing for a long time ! I had one and miss it.
Awesome to see the kid get his first vehicle. Man, you guys definitely have a lot of respect for your viewers. Truly a class act! Great job guys!!!
Love to see the repair and handing off to someone who needs it.
