Great vid. Very helpful. Only thing I’d suggest is not putting the pin lube down the hole itself, put in on the *sides* of the pin. This is because pin grease doesn’t compress, so you’re actually decreasing your brake’s efficiency.
Oh man, I spent about 2k on parts to change the suspension parts on my car, changed every single part from rack to control arms and I still had a clunk like that. Was doing brake job on my other car and remembered that these can make clunking. Two slider pins and a bracket later, the car was silent. I was mad and happy lol
literally the same situation, $2,100 on suspension parts, then $350 on brake pads other misc parts just to find out its the brake pad carrier im gonna kms
I know for a fact that slide pin grease alone will usually fix the rattle. For a while. I just grease the pins on my car whenever the rattle gets annoying. They stay quiet for quite a while. Easy to do.
I’m pretty sure that a replacement calliper bracket and a new pin and rubber boot kit wouldn’t set you back more than a hundred bucks. What I’d be worried about is drilling out the slide pin hole too much or worse, not enough. What’s just as annoying as that rattle is having the slide pins seize up after a few thousand miles which means brake pads that wear out way too soon and possibly even worn out rotors.
I have this happening to my Chevy S10 Xtreme 02 ext cab I used Tesa tape at the end for temporary clunk and rattle and bought new pins. But the eyelid of the caliper hole is worn out and I added my own shims
I changed the pins but the rattle was still there now Iv had to go get 2 new break carriers n see if that’s stopped it. This rattle has driven me insane n effected my mental health. I hope it works this time
yup me too, first i bought two pins and noise kinda damped down but was still there, then someone told me that, overtime, aluminium bracket can wear off from inside and slider pins will have a play in it which was my case. I bought a re manufactured bracket and the noise went away

Great video because it's not easy to find info on this stuff, thanks for sharing.
UA-cam come through again. '08 350Z with a terrible noise on rough roads. I knew it was the brake caliper and or mount. Thank you for the answer.

This is an excelent video you have made! Thank you!💯
Great vid mate.. this has made me decide that I'm gonna just take it to the local garage to get it fixed!

.5mm oversized will be fine. IMO that's probably too much. A 7/16th drill would be about 11.2mm which I'd say would be much better.
It blew my mind out😂
Thank you so much for sharing 👍
Great video. Thanks.
Glad you liked it!

It’s never ends either. Soon as you fix one thing here comes some more BS to deal with.
Great
Could always just pack more grease in a pinch
Or wrap a layer of aluminum foil around back half of pin
I just bought two new calipers and they do this lol, the remanned parts these days are junk
yeah sadly its very hit or miss
Why do you think the holes got bigger , what would cause that ?
friction sliding in and out i believe the metal in hole is softer than the pins
bracket is aluminium so its softer than steel pins. Overtime with friction, inside of the bracket will wear off
Rough roads, high mileage, general wear and tear
I'm pretty sure that 10 or more years of use can cause wear and tear.
Why not sleeve it with teflon?
Tx, good idea. I was aiming at areas of the world where simplicity counts.
By changing only caliper pins we can solve this issue or not?????
No
You have to go bigger like sleeving a piston.
