My 2017 with 190k miles is kicking strong. I’ve never done any work to her aside from breaks and rotors, battery, and regular fluid changes. Mechanically, no issues ever, and it’s gonna stay that way I’m feeling.
On the eighth day of Christmas, my Tedward gave to me 8 4Runners 7 GLS’s 6 Equinoxes 5 GX’s 4 Grenadiers 3 M5’s 2 Karmann Ghias And a 250 in a pear tree
I gave in and bought a car wash membership because I live on the north shore and we get hammered with salt. If you have a truck, I recommend it. My wash is super clean and I really don't give a shit about scratches and swirls.
I have a ScrubADub membership for my daily (2021 GX460) and frankly it’s just so nice during the cold to just stay in your car and get it clean. Since self serve is outside I end up not doing it as frequently because I don’t want to end up out in the cold
When you own a car for more than five years and it’s a darker color you will either be clueless of the swirly mess or aware don’t like it but too lazy to spend a bit more time preserving the expensive paint. A truck that you use as a rough tool is a completely different story.
@@robob221 Why my next vehicle will be a silver or white tacoma/4runner. A daily is a daily. Not wasting my time when some asshole can slam into me at any time.
Been binge watching all the ted and Topher videos I haven't watched. I've commented before on how much I like your 911. I'm born in 1980 so it's one of the cars I drooled over as a child, that style is timeless so glad u still have it. Couldn't picture u ever selling it given the backstory.
My dad has a 4runner too, but a limited model in black with brown seats and full time 4x4 and the paint shows dirt a lot. It gets washed multiple times and rust proofed at a shop before.
the sound of that V6 reminds me of my uncle's 2007 pathfinder V6 which also came with a 5 speed. The sound is just so familiar, the gearing is identical ig.
I had an FJ Cruiser with the same engine for the last 11 years and recently got an Audi SQ5, the Audi has the exact same annoying attempt at luxury where you get nothing until you get way into the throttle and then get way more than you wanted. I basically drive it in sport mode all the time to get the throttle response I want but then have to deal with it holding gears longer than I’d like.
I used to own a 5th gen but found the V6 and five speed too slow, where the GX’s V8 isn’t as bad on the highway. If you change out your GX’s tires to 275/65/18s the car handles so much better, as well as brakes better. In addition, you reach 2nd and 3rd earlier, making it feel a lot faster off the line. You lose about 1mpg tho. I used to run AT3W’s, but I really like the white lettering of my new KO3’s.
I also was a person who washed his car and kept it clean, but one day I had a big engine failure and felt like all the money i gave out for washing my car was thrown away. Since then I decided not to wash my car again.
We have a 2021 Wrangler Sahara with a 6 speed manual and it’s lifted with 35s and we’re always putting inputs while driving because it always wants to veer to the shoulder lol. - we love it though. If the newer 4Runners came in a manual we probably would have got one! I live in Ontario Canada and I’m so jealous of the license plates Americans get lol, most of them look super cool ours are sooooo boring.
Friendly detailing tip, it works really well for me Get a spary bottle or 2 (depending on vehicle size and how dirty) Put in 2 caps of waterless rinse ( I use ONR) 2 caps of dawn dish soap 2 caps of all purpose cleaner 2 caps of your choice of car wash Mix it all fill up with warm water and spray it on the vehicle once you get to the car wash. Wait about 5 mins or so this way it has time to encapsulate the dirt Then go in to the wash spray with soap and then rinse It works like a charm! It'll be much better than a touchless car wash Merry Christmas 🎅
A good video to remind myself how good of a setup you run. I think it's as natural as it can get. I couldn't stomach watching someone just do their basic daily car-related chores, esp when it's just a filthy workhorse, but here I just zone out and enjoy the rinse and mostly mute driving. The real disappointment after a touchless wash comes after it dries out and you realise all that "solidified" grim on the car is still there in full presence. 🥴
