- What is Lego Worlds? You’ve probably seen this sandbox, world generation title and thought it to be a Minecraft clone but with Lego assets. Fortunately, there’s a lot more to know about TT Games’ latest brick-building creation and even more to discover.
Lego Worlds is currently on Steam Early Access but will arrive on March 7th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One (besides heading to the Switch in the future). Here are 15 things to know before you buy it.

so if you have lego construction books in real life you could probably recreate them in game with the right pieces

@@alanszanski1043 unfortunately the really odd limitations with the build tool prevent this from working. I mean you cant vertically rotate the blocks because....reasons...and lots of useful pieces are not available. It had such potential that was wasted due to really dumb choices by the programmers.

they are missing ona lot of sets; and those are being added as dlc like agent 2000 and things like sw and city ; meaning u get a base game or 30 bucks and need to pay lik 100 aprox for full game more

Been playing this quite a lot in early access on Steam. It might look like a Minecraft rip-off, but it's so much more than that, and so much fun! Highly recommended if you're into these types of games. It's not expensive either.

Idc if the world isn't infinite, if they just keep adding new lego content like star wars,exo force, lego city etc then it's all good
I hope they stick to LEGO Original IPs (so not Star Wars)
Keeping licenses out of the game lets them have more creative freedom, plus alot of their IPs have started to fade into obscurity and it's nice to see them revived.
I saw a pirate and police officer in the video so maybe we can get Lego City and Pirates. Like how cool would it be to build a working pirate ship and have pirate battles. Mixles have also been seen in the game. I think it would be cool to have Ninjago,Creator,Alien Defense,etc that would be amazing.

This is the first video that I've found where it actually effectively summarizes what the player can do in the game. At the price point, I can't see how this game can be criticized as much as it has been. I'm getting it on the Nintendo Switch. Seems like a lot of other reviewers played it for a weekend and were in a hurry to get to their next assignment.

Yes, although it is not as easy as in LEGO Creator.
You also have to find certain props first before you can use them.

I knew nothing about this until I watched your video. thanks! March can't get here soon enough.
Honestly i was hoping for more. The amount of bricks you can actually use is kind of insultingly small. The biggest gripe for me is no custom vehicles. Lego Creator is a 1998 PC game and even it lets you make custom vehicles. Im waiting for the lego game where you can pick up a real life instruction manual and recreate it piece by piece in a virtual space and play and interact with it. Can you imagine building a city and having something like a train riding around? How amazing would that be?
It's an amalgamation of Lego, Minecraft, and No Man's Sky all rolled into one. It's a really fun casual style game with a lot of polish and variety. Sometimes reminds me of the old Lego Island games but on a much larger scale. At $30 it's an absolute no-brainer to pick it up because the content you get from it is so worth the price.

I like this game but it's still glitchy three years later. I had to create a city from the ground up after vehicles kept spawning in random spots and crashing into each other.
Already bought that, when it got into Early Access and I'm happy. Don't play too much with it, but only because of the lack of time and the fact I'd rather put my creative juices into making levels for a 3D platformer I am developing rather than building stuff in game.
But seriously, even though worlds aren't infinite, the core aspect of having functionally infinite amount of any LEGO bricks you want to build with is appealing enough. Especially for people who can't afford lego sets (even third party from services that sell used lego bricks by weight, e.g. 1kg of bricks == $40) and even if they could they wouldn't have a place to store them in.

i found a golden dragon 😊 a little help to everyone they have a bigger chance to spawn at the mountan biomes on a golden cloud and you dont need to do the quest chain for it to spawn😃 just remember the golden cloud spawns higer then normal clouds
Minecraft:
A survival crafting game where you gather recourses, build and upgrade things, fight bosses, and explore. Also has the addition of a creative mode, a no enemies difficulty mode, as well as adventure and hardcore modes.
Terraria:
A metroidvania survival crafting game were the main focus is exploring, crafting, gathering recourses, fighting bosses, upgrading yourself and your "base/settlement".
Has the option of soft/medium/hard core modes on top of difficulty.
Lego Worlds:
An exploration and building game were you start with a tutorial and where you gather gold bricks by completing quests (among possible others, I'm not sure). Where you are not limited by block limit, but you must find them in the world somewhere. Has a sandbox mode with almost everything unlocked.

This game looks really fun! I'm going to be starting my four year old on video games this year and this is one of the games I've already purchased as a Christmas gift for him. I look forward to playing it with him.
Other games I got for him/us to play is Minecraft, Portal Knights, and Dragon Quest Heroes 2.
I really like how this game isn't about resource gathering and crafting though, that stuff gets so damn old and repetitive, I wish there were more games similar to this, Minecraft, and No Mans Sky, that weren't all about grinding for resources. I know there is creative mode on those games but I also don't want something completely lacking in challenge.

why do people compare games similar to this to minecraft. minecraft is not a genre its a single game that falls into a genre the same genre this game fall under.
It's because they fall into the same genre that they are compared. They don't have to be exactly the same game but t hey do share a fair number of similarities. It's why FPS's and racing games continually get compared to others within their genre.
You are right that Minecraft itself isn't the genre, but it is the most popular and widely known game within that genre. It's just being used as an example to easily explain that genre.

+jarlfenrir It's genre would be something along the lines of Open World Sandbox. You could probably add 'Survival' in there somewhere if you play the game part of it, or Creative if you use that.
Most games that fall in this genre don't have the full sandbox features like MC does, i.e. complete terraforming of the terrain. Usually they just allow building on top of the terrain. The term sandbox is often used incorrectly. Hope that helps. :-)
Summing up, you say minecraft lies in genre "Open World Sandbox". What would be other games in that genre then?
For me "sandbox" is more like mechanics than genre (i wouldn't put minecraft with GTA in one genre, even both are sandbox).
But what I think, is that minecraft defines a completely new genre that doesn't even have name yet. And in my opinion all games that currently are being compared to minecraft will be categorized as that "minecraft-like" genre soon.

When I got this on early access release I immediately thought Lego was going to make digital copies of all their sets so that if you bought a real set you would get the digital version to import into this game, hasn't happened yet but it's built to add DLC to it so maybe in the future?? Anyhow, love the game.

Son is turning 5 soon and I just started browsing for kids games. Didn't expect to see something I actually have interest in! I feel this specifically might be a bit too advanced for a 5 year old though. But it definitely made my list
I would heavily recommend one of the other Lego games, like Lego Batman or Lego Star Wars.

Yes, 2 players on release. It will be expanded later on.

Yes, we already have online capabilities in Alpha. It's extremely unstable so they will bring it down to two, they wanted to be able to bring it up to 8 players for release but that did not work out.

Please don't compare a Lego game to Minecraft.
We already have Minecraft Lego sets. When the game first started out, the developers wanted a game that stayed true to Lego. Minecraft is inspired by Lego, and Lego Worlds is made with the heart of Lego in mind. This is why there are some similarities, and some very big differences. Imagine if they just made Lego Worlds into a minecraft clone, everything would be cubes. Do you have any idea how many Lego bricks that is being rendered in the game? Imagine Minecraft with 10X bigger worlds and longer render distance.

This is a really good game.....I've played it about 9 hours since getting it Tuesday. I'm a Minecraft player---I see comparrisons but it's really very different. I think if you like Minecraft, Lego or sandbox games in general this is a game to get. There is a dlc "button" so I don't know what will be coming but this game is like Minecraft as it is infinite. I want a camel and haven't found one yet. You can make a hodgepodge world.....like part candy, part swamp, etc.....now that IS better than minecraft because changing the texture changes everything not just specific buildings.
but when you create your own worlds can you....
A) add enemies?
B) add a objective? (i.e finding keys to unlock doors to new areas ext)
or is this just a model maker?

thecrimsonpool there is an adventure mode and sandbox mode. In the adventure modes you explore different worlds in your quest to get more gold bricks to fuel your rocket. In adventure, enemies like skeletons or zombies spawn in the night time. Some tasks require you to finish one area before you can go to another (i.e. Someone wants something, you give it to them and in return they give you something that someone else wants.) In sandbox mode, it's essentially a model maker as you have access to mostly everything in the game like enemies or objects or vehicles but you can't really add an objective.

I love this game (on Xbox One), and personally think that it's very creative and can inspire people to think big. Most of the points in this video were true, but why repeatedly compare to Minecraft? These are 2 different games and I think it's actually quite offensive to Lego... but thanks for the tips though!😂

TheMarvelguy1 yes you will have to go through exploring and helping peeps. you collect gold bricks once you get 100 (I beleive) you can create your own world instead of the pre-built ones. for example there is a pretty historic land, a pirate island, and many other pre-built worlds. there is now a collector toll you use to discover things, a land tool and a few other tools. I like the steam version better but that is just my opinion. it will be out on March 7 in America and is already out in Britain and Australia I beleive. thanks for the video but isn't useful until you get those 100 gold bricks. sigh
This is an amazing game has plenty adventure and a sandbox mode. It’s worth the price. And dlc are only 4:$

Just brought the game and disappinted. The idea itself behind the game is good but messed up the controls and keeps crashing on pc when start up. How is it on the ps4?if better will buy
I can verify that this game does not have bad pc controls, just bad places for some of them, I dont like pressing escape everytime I want to go out of a menu.

I borrowed this from the library and i loved it but it was broken as hell. This couldve easily been a minecraft competitor if only lego wouldve cared enough to fix the game.
I bought it brand new and not only is it buggy as hell, but its my only PS4 game that crashes daily
