Crate Training Isn't Always Pretty!

  • One of the main reasons Caper is staying with me is that he is difficult at home for his owners. He steals items and can become aggressive if challenged, he doesn't settle well on his own and he can become aggressive whenever they need to put him in a crate whether it be in the home or the car. His walking on lead is also pretty bad so I will be working on that too!
The crate issue was super important to sort out straight away! I need to be able to get him in the van easily and he also needs to go in the crate at home during his stay with me. So, I decided to make that a priority and get to work on that immediately before I even left the training centre to take him home!

Does he also suffer from separation anxiety? I have a dog that is severe when separated. He isn't scared of the crate but scared he may be left alone once he is in there.

Crates are cruel. Don't use them. They create anxiety.

Crates are the safest way how to transport dog in the car. Also it gives them something stable in new environment (vacation, boarding etc). It should be their safe space. So the thing you write is just nonsense.
