Thank you very much, great explanation. I started using a sliplead with my 5 month old labrador and he is doing great. The only difficulty is when there are other dogs approaching, he still wants to go towards them. Do you have any tips on that? Thanks!
My question isn’t even related to the training which is excellent showcase of how to properly use ‘Tools’ not to harm but to guide the dog, I personally use a Prong collar on my GSD because I tried a slip and he would just bulldoze trough it and choke himself after a few weeks my dog doesnt need it anymore and I can easily take him anywhere no problems at 6 months of age , the real question here is what shoes are those I like them
Hi Ben. How do you lure a dog that’s not food oriented? I have and English Springer, he’s got better in terms of pulling but he’s far from perfect. He needs refining and because the food doesn’t interest him this isn’t an option. I try a ball or other toys but these just overexcite him.
Firstly I would restrict access to food unless in training. I would create lots of opportunities each day to train and give food and depending on how much was consumed I would give a small meal at the end of the day in a bowl, not too much though because you want them to be motivated for hand feeding. I would also spend a few days working on heel training and nothing else. This is to remove expectiions as they may reject training knowing that it’s going to be ball time later! Once they got better after a few days I would bring the ball back in but at totally separate times so the dog learns that there is a time and a place for toys and walking in the lead is a calm excercise that is rewarded with food
Nice work, Ben!
Thanks man 👊!

One of my dogs is so high on the fooddrive that she cant hear and trips over her or my feet
If its a small dog we have to bend knees to give treats right?

All very well ......until you no longer have any treats!
