  • Something a little different, showing you guys how the first session often looks with the dogs that I work with.
    Might not be as seamless when trying this with your dog but the concept works every time for me and the dogs I work with that pull!. Hope it helps you too!

    Grateful for the pace and level of explanation you include in your videos. I’m not new to dog ownership but still find that through watching your videos, there’s always some little snippet I get from you that is so on point and develops my progress with my Staffordshire terrier who can pick and choose when she wants to listen. She’s 18mths old. Thank you, wishing you all the success.

    Training begins the moment that puppy sets foot through the door. Gentle at first, building with progress and this applies to ALL discipline. I have owned and worked nine dogs including viz, gsp, labs and my dogs would be invited before me.

    No way this is in BOT, I'd recognise that setting anywhere. Are you local to BOT then? Great video by the way. I am currently training my 13 week old staffy. She's doing so well and watching videos like yours is helping no end. (just to disclaim there is no slip lead use or anything yet)

    My first Vizsla reached the age of 13 years and my second Vizsla just passed away at an age of 15.5 years.

    We have a new puppy who isn't allowed out yet .. and he's going to grow into a fair sized dog so I'm really pleased to have found this training session about walking .. especially as there was no interest in food .. I've got our puppy on a slip lead already so he's familiar for when he can go out .. and I'll be doing exactly what you showed .. so thanks for this .. I'll update on how it goes when the time comes. I'm just wondering though .. how old should a puppy be before training .. he's 10 weeks at the min.

      Why did you get such a dog if you are not able to handle me? Everyone gets Vizslas as if it were a poodle! You should have found out about the dog's character, surely something you are doing wrong. Do you take her out for 3.5 hours every day on your bike? Do you make her run enough? If that were the case, then she would not pull, she would be tired with a lot of physical activity

    One question. Why did you change the lead? Is it so that it sits higher up?

    Love your videos. I have a male Jack Russell. I use a harness with lead on the chest loop as he is driven to get to where he wants to go. Anything around his neck leads to choking. Which makes me feel bad. Any advice on using the harness. I also walk with another dog. Who is much older. Who doesn’t pull. Thank you.

      Check out my video titled “The Last Loose lead walking video…” I use a method in that video where I am conditioning lead pressure. Same process will apply on a harness you may just need to be more patient as it will no doubt take longer

    What is that slip lead exactly please (what makes)? I’ve got one but it’s a bit thicker and it keeps slipping down my dog’s neck.

    • @balanceddoguk
      @balanceddoguk  7 місяців тому +1

      So, I make my own slip leads for that reason. Try looking on Etsy. Anything with 6mm cord and a spring loaded stopper would be best

      @@balanceddoguk Hi Ben, an awesome video as always. Maybe make a video showing how to make your slip leash? Getting various kinds of chord is fairly easy I guess, but it would be great to see the exact supplies you buy and your leash-making process. The exact stopper you buy would also be great to know. I have tried two different types of slip leash and it's usually the stopper that isn't designed too well. P.S. Not only is your training and delivery excellent but your videography and audio quality has to be praised too. Thanks for going above and beyond Ben. If I lived in the UK I'd be hiring you on the spot to help with our dog walking. Maybe you could create an online course one day too.

    Hi,
    I have a 4 month old Vizsla girl but worry about using a slip lead because of her throat, she’s young and growing etc…. Would you say this is ok to use?

    • @balanceddoguk
      @balanceddoguk  6 місяців тому +1

      @@pauseforpilates7090 I would start on a flat collar and lead. Introducing the concept of walking by your side using more food than lead pressure. I have got lots of videos showing how to do this. But it’s where I would start with a pup

      there is a thing called the gentle lead and it doesnt tighten on the throat but pulls one the nose, works in the same way

    • @OhHiItsMegan
      @OhHiItsMegan 4 місяці тому

      @@MrSkyline1337 Those leads, although great and I love them, are not actually teaching your dog something. It just makes it way easier for you. You can train them on it of course and they are a great training tool but in terms of actually teaching your dog they don't really do anything. Take one off and they would be back to pulling once they realise their head isn't being pulled.
