My Son purchased the Craftsman impact and drill combo to use at work as a mechanic. He uses the impact all day long switching batteries as needed.
He sold me on them as well and now I have most of the line minus the big radio and leaf blower.
They serve me well.
The versastack radio is really nice I just got it. Very nice quality just like the rest of their tools I have most of it love all of it.
@mister clean The new ones are basically DeWalt though. Stanley Black & Decker owns DeWalt, Porter Cable and a few others. These new craftsman at the moment are just existing Dewalt and Porter Cable products rebranded. Seems this is their approach while they continue to build a massive Texas factory for future Craftsman products (to be made in the US).

Just bought an 8 tool Craftsman set for $279. Couldn't even come close to that price with Dewalt or Milwaukee. I know what I bought, and I'm not a tradesman or expecting pro-level performance. But for my DIY needs, it's an awesome set. I guarantee it will handle any project I throw at it. The rebirth of Craftsman through Lowe's is a great move. For homeowners, it's really a no-brainer. Almost Dewalt quality for much lower price point.
That was a crazy good deal I got it too for things at Home. Even the lowes employees were blown away by the price. I hope they last.
Same here! Now I own all craftsman.. tool boxes, wrenches, drills, all cordless tools... I worked at Lowe's for 3 years in lawn and garden and tools. My wife still works after 4 years and tells me about the deals that I can get. Craftsman also has came a long way to improving they tools and also Project Farm sometimes say craftsman for a win.
Bought the 8piece on sale at 249 like 2 yrs ago and don’t regret for the price well worth it!

We have Milwaukee stuff at work and it's alright. Works will. I do NOT like their drills though. WAAAAY too much torque. I'm gonna break my wrist using those one of these days.
I've only had the Craftsman stuff for about a week now and I can say that the Milwaukee stuff FEELS better, but I also got 8 tools and a couple of batteries for the price of one drill.
I've had this Black and Decker set for YEARS and they were what was in my tool bad when I was doing maintenance for some apartments. They were great tools if you didn't bang em around too much. I'm expecting a similar experience with the Craftsman stuff, but with a little more power and better build quality. I can tell you that even the new sander weighs about double that the B&D does.
Yeah I saw that same set at Lowes but I decided not to pull the trigger because it’s old tech and not brushless.

Craftsman quality has increased drastically overtime, especially with the Brushless RP collections. This video showed me that Craftsman over performed the Milwaukee especially in the water test.

Still rocking my Craftsman NexTec 12v drills! About 14 years now as well, daily use and rock solid! Even original batteries!
Didn't realize until recently, Techtronic Industries, made the NexTec 12v line for Craftsman, which is the company that OWNS MILWAUKEE. The NexTec tools were actually basically Gen 1 Milwaukee M12!
Longer then that for us got a 19.2 lithium from 2004 it’s a little worm compared to the new one we bought but still good enough for us. Use it damn near every day in the spring fall baling and sometimes winter

Right now the biggest bang for the buck is the craftsman with the 4.0ah batteries.
All three of those are owned by the same company, Stanley Black and Decker.

I don't own any craftsman I only own Milwaukee & Makita. But after watching the craftsman keep up with the Milwaukee with half the Amp Hour battery. I'm going to pick one up because I'm no like most of the overly emotional Milwaukee owners that get their feelings hurt when a cheaper brand has the same potential. Great Job Craftsman. i
Just randomly saw someone on eBay selling refurbished Craftsman V20 drills with battery and smart charger for $39 with free shipping. The ratings were 5 stars out of 5. Bought one... looks like brand new (no scratches or damage). battery was already charged up and interchangeable with 20 volt black and decker models for $23 also on eBay. Very pleased !

You can't compare them together and use a 2.0amp battery on one tool a 4.0amp on the other how's is that fair
If that 2.0 kept up with the 4.0 that's good enough for me to see that craftsman is that good.

Those are the batteries what comes with the kits.
@@shep00703 I've had tools stop working when the batteries couldn't handle the steady flow of output. I can vouch that bigger batteries help

Craftsman is getting a much larger selection quickly, and quite frankly as close as it proformed... for most DIY guys and gals the money saved is bargain. I was surprised it held it's own, and it seems a good value which is true to the old craftsman name.

I got an older 19.2 v Craftsman drill, impact driver and impact wrench for more than 10 years now and used it heavily for housework and garage work especially when I replaced my vehicles valve covers. Still performing well. Recently I started switching to Makita. The only reason for the change was I started moving into cordless Makita garden tools such as edgers, blower and decided to upgrade. The battery of my old Craftsman has been turned obsolete so it is time. I am passed my Craftsman tools to my son.
This was a huge question I had when I saw the price on the Craftsman tools (cordless) especially after the days working with my Grandpa and loving the early Craftsman tools and wrenches especially.
Ok I gotta chime in because I've been on the Craftsman platform since 2019 using them commercially running a home renovation business, I'm so invested now with to may tools to go to another brand I have everything from the 7¼ sliding miter to the upright stick vac. Everything has held up well with the exception of 1 sawzall and 1 drill I smoked em both however I was using the drill to mix 5 gal bucket's continuously to mix sheetrock mud and it lasted about 2 years of abuse, I was chopping up a boat trailer frame when I smoked the sawzall. Note these were not the brushless models I'm extremely happy with the tools at the price point I can buy another if needed. ❤ My Craftsman
Affordability is a big issue yet durability is also a factor. I think one should buy on sale the best quality at the lowest price. I have the M12 & M18 platforms. When I wanted a inexpensive one time use tool I go to Ryobi.
They like Milwaukee because of stigma. I own the craftsman 20v drill driver, impact driver and hammer drill. They do no worse than any other
I have the same no complaints. Only thing is I should have waited a yr and got the bushless that came out the next yr.

After the shock results it's a No brainer Craftsman and I own the Gen 3 Milwaukee and a Metabo SB18 LTX BLI 3...BUT for most it's like what Sneakers/trainers are you wearing...the jobsite can resemble the playground at school...lol🤣😂
Made by Stanley black&decker as is DeWalt, craftsman v20 range is identical to the Stanley fatmax range minus a few finishing touches, I run the whole Stanley fatmax range old and the v20 platform, batteries running over 7 years old still hold full charge amazing tools

I have been a handy man for 4-5 months full time. I started with Super Tech because it was what I already had. I’ve upgraded to Craftsman however occasionally I’m in a job with another tech and their Milwaukee ALWAYS out performs my craftsman. I’d love to see these test with stone or metal. Wood is too easy let’s see them up against a harder substance.

I used both milwaukee and dewalt cordless tools. I do like my DeWalt (DCD 791) 1/2" drill. Plus it has that killer light switch systm and it lighter then the milwaukee.
On the milwaukee drill it does have the hammer drill function but i don't use that feature much. Plus i feel it has a weak led light. Still a good drill.

Just look at my picture......Craftman was my sockets go to back in the day......but at the time (2012-2014) of purchase I tried Dewalt & quickly switch to Milwaukee as battery cases just didn't hold up nor did the impacts, drill, etc...plus the 5 year warranty on most tools sealed the deal for me! I buy milwaukee for all my cordless tools unless something not available.

I would purchase the Craftsman. One thing not mentioned- is that the Craftsman has a battery-level indicator. What I saw in August 2021, the Milwaukee is 2.5x the price of the Craftsman... For occasional home use.. IMO, the Craftsman should be fine.

If you shop around, the price difference really isn't that bad. I picked up that M18 drill as a tool only online for about 85 bucks. Yeah the batteries will cost you, but once you buy your first kit, you're set on that front.
Thing is for a homeowner wanting semi pro tools you can pick up an entire set of craftsman for the price of a few Milwaukee tools. Milwaukee needs to either drop their price or do something no one else is doing and other than their niche tools (which is a big selling point) they are just making a killing off their tools. Craftsman warranty is better than most as well.
Lol not exactly. There's now 3 different craftsman brands one of which sears has their own line. Not the same craftsman that is in the big box stores right now. I can't recall the third but the the den of tools just did a video about them and their warranty is pretty shotty right now. At least that old craftsman warrantee. That is dying out and those drills have warranties compared to the rest. The rest just has a far better history with cordless power tools and a far more expanded line. They also have to compete with the rest so you do see tool makes do things no one else does and it's just Milwaukee has far better marketing than craftsman. I would say a tie with Makita simply because they're still independent and has the world's largest cordless tool line. I would say maybe better than Milwaukee. Dewalt we all know is just overpriced black and decker with a zombie black and yellow paint job. Love em or hate em they've still come out with things others haven't like their 60v line. Its small but they're doing it.
I think these guys on the video are bias . I think milwauke might be sponsering them. So i think thats why they dont really give much credit to craftsman drills.
@@MadMetalShop I somehow just saw this comment (my own) again after 3 years! Milwaukee is the better tool, there's no doubt about that. The value though which is essentially a measure of price vs many other factors balanced into one metric is pretty stinking good for craftsman. Also something I can say now that I couldn't 3 years ago. I used to work for Stanley Black & Decker who makes DeWalt, craftsman, bostitch, among many others. They don't just make them, they are the owners of the brands as well. The craftsmen we have today has nothing to do with Sears, it's modified older DeWalt designs. I say modified, because they've upgraded some of the components in those older designs.

Both Milwaukee and Craftsman are legendary names in tools, and both are now owned by companies that has nothing to do with the legends...

I feel like craftsman is aimed more at home owners and maybe apprentices, guys just getting into the trade, of if your like me who does proptery maintenance, you don't need crazy heavy duty stuff. I've been impressed with my craftsman stuff, and all I have is the cheapest craftsman brushed tools. I like em so much I just ordered the Craftsman Brushless Impact and drill kit that comes with 2 2ah batteries and charger for $150 from Lowes. All the other Brushless combos like that were $200+, except ryobi was $180, and I'd take craftsman over ryobi anyday. No hate on ryobi, great tools but I feel like the prices have started to creep into a level that they just aren't at.
Running to lowes to get the 4 piece craftsman kit, 2 batt,2 drills 1 reciplicating, 1 flashlight,charger and carry bag.
Happy with purchase, goes thru 2x6 wood and 1-1/2 pvc like butter. Didn't even hiccup with the 3 in deck screws.
The set isn't brushless. Dewalt brushless set on sale now.
A sharp bit is most important. The tools are all basically at par with one another. We have people in these comments saying they hate a certain brand because they used it with a dull bit once
I’ve been buying craftsman power tools because it’s more affordable and is you’re just as me to work on projects around the house, no need to have big brand name, bought the 8 kit tool combo for 350 including jig saw!!! It’s hard to find big brand name combo that included jig saw unless you want to pay 1500-2000 combo with the jigsaw. Bought the cordless craftsman miter saw and it’s doing the job I’m loving it, and I just bought the cordless 18ga brad nailer could’ve been happier. For all them tools I spent around 800 dollars, now go buy big brand tools with 800 dollars and let me know what you get. Like I said unless you’re not a contractor no need for expensive tools.
One test I haven't seen is the cold weather test. Most brands even the cheap ones work decently in fair weather but when it gets cold outside around 40 degrees Fahrenheit or below my coworkers couldn't charge or use their cheaper brands like Porter Cable while my Milwaukee tools were still going. It would be interesting to see how the DeWalt and Craftsman tools and batteries hold up in the cold weather as well.

Update, The craftsman 6 tool kit is 199$ and it includes 2 batteries and a charger.. PLUS a bag, bits, sand paper etc. That's less then the price of a single Milwaukee tool for spot on performance

Warranty is a factor, also with Milwaukee they just have so many tools and lights. Hard to beat the choice. But for a hobby diy guy just using it the odd time those new cheaper brands are offering a lot of bang for the buck, or euro!
I will pick either...on the other hand nobody mentioned that Craftsman is a 20 volts (small battery on the video) and Milwaukee is 18 volts (bigger battery on the video) both work PERFECT for me. Milwaukee has more experience (3 years more) than Craftsman on the market, but I REALLY like the colors and both Brands. Both brands have their good quality tools. Some tools are better to buy in Craftsman and some other tools are better to buy in Milwauke.
I have ended up with various craftsman v20 tools and have been satisfied with all of them so far. I would say I am the average home owner. I do like Milwaukee a lot but dont honestly need it for home repairs and remodels. Used my drill for a bathroom remodel and it held its charge and didnt give me one reason to think it had a difficult time doing so. Main selling point is when I go to lowes and they have craftsman tools on sale for half the price of the next equivalent. If they break I would consider switching to Milwaukee
The brushless craftsman impact and sawsall are better imo I honestly hate the Milwaukee impact.
No way in hell I’d drive a auger bit one handed like they did. If the drill knitted up you could have serious hand damage.
When it comes to Kobalt and Craftsman, which one would you recommend?
ReesesGT not having used either one I would take craftsman as they are backed by Stanley Black & Decker which is a reputable manufacturer that also makes dewalt tools.
Also I’m pretty sure Lowes picked up craftsman to slowly phase out the kobalt brand.

Neither. They are both throwaway brands. Contrary what the guys say at Lowes, Kobalt is being pushed aside for craftsman. And who wants last generation dewalt. And you don’t say if you are pro, but I would choose Ryobi before either, and even rigid although their warranty support is the pits. Unless you need massive torque, ryobi is very good and their battery platform has been stable for like 20 years. They still use 18650 cells which are cheap, plentiful, and always getting better. Ryobi is TTI, which is the parent of Milwaukee, so they are prosumer TTI, but their tool quality has gone up. And BTW if you are buying said tools do In Dec or Jan when the massive deals and giveaways on batteries happen. Batteries are the killer for platform cost.

I bought a craftsman 1/2 in drive drill because it was 150$. The equivalent Milwaukee is 350$, so that's a 200$ difference. I'm a casual tool user if I was an expert and needed a high end drill then I'd buy the Milwaukee.
As far as similarities go, the current gen Porter Cable and Craftsman tools are similar both similar to each other, and both of the current gen Craftsman and Porter Cable tools are related to previous gen DeWalt tools which I think is great for people who are looking for cheaper but still great tools, just based on older DeWalts that still had plenty of power.
If u know tools you can tell by the sound and when you hold it
I have the M12 line. I love it. I have a few more to buy. I still have my Craftsman 19.2v stuff. The issue with those is, battery availability and the guts technology is outdated, lacking. But it all still works great. I'm torn on what 18+ volt line to switch to.
If your just an average home goer I recommend the new v20 line to be honest I’ve subject mine to abuse and they’ve held it just aswell as any of the others
I am in your boat. I have just about every tool in the 19.2v lineup and I went Milwaukee 12v because of the dremel and die grinder. I have to make a choice. Main reason is 19.2 did not make a orbital sander. I want Milwaukee, m18 but my pocketbook tells me go with the cheaper craftsman v20 line. I have 4 xcp batteries and they make adapters to work with m18 and craftsman v20. Did you ever make the switch? What did you go with? Quick addition, I avoided Ryobi due to them having a stick battery. I have dealt with that long enough
@jtcindahaus I'm slowly switching to Milwaukee M18. The 1/2 inch impact made my decision. Then, this time of year is the perfect time for the bundles and deals. Still got my Craftsman stuff. Not sure what to do with it. Not worth much to try and sell. Not really a hand me down type of tool. Can't justify trashing it either.
@@claytonscheiber3493 Im totally leaning that way, and you may have gotten me there now. Btw Amazon does sells batteries for 19.2. I plan on handing them down to my sons. No stubby for the m12? I’ve been eying up the 3/8th impact, due to my 19.2 only having 130 lbs of torque, vs m12 being 250. Thanks for your input
@jtcindahaus I got the 1/2 in and 3/8 stubby M12. The M18 I needed to do ball joints and what not on vehicles.
The fact that you walked away with the milwaukee tool to change the battery and was out of sight (instead of leaving the tool behind) disqualifies your experiment! 😂😂
retest them after a year of continuous use. All new brooms sweep clean.
Couldn't think of a better saying to fit , although I have the impact and have drove 4 and a half 1000 packs of 3 inch deck screws into mainly oak ( probably 1/4 softwood) and it doesn't feel "tired" at all
I've been using the craftsmen v20 system for a couple years now, my impact more than anything else by far, it honestly seems like a great buy for a homeowner or a DIY person. It's hard to say how it would hold up to daily torture but I've used it to break lugs on my truck, camper tires, deck building, various furniture projects (not IKEA build a bed stuff, custom solid wood pieces), Shelving projects, and so much more. Not patting my back, just saying I probably abuse my tools far more than the average homeowner and that impact is still hammering away like a champ.
@@KupsoRyu Is your impact the brushed or brushless version? I recently picked up the 8 piece Craftsman combo for $280. The price was really enticing. As someone who isn’t using their tools in their profession and just wants a wide array of tools for various projects here and there I’m interested to see how they hold up. Obviously Dewalt/Milwaukee are the better options, but considering the price difference and my minimal use, they should serve me well. For the price I can always upgrade to a different brand down the road.
@@jakethomas_419 mine is brushless. Still running strong. I picked up a side huddle doing furniture assembly and TV mounting. I use it everyday now. It's harder and harder for me to justify Dewalt prices.
The performance of the Craftsman was really impressive. I just don't understand why they did not provide a handle since it's got the power to make torque demanding holes.

6:03 it looked like the Milwaukee was jumping and bucking alot more than the Craftsman, the Craftsman seemed alot more smooth with the 1" spade.
I’ll always go with the craftsman… and i’ve done years of work with mine. Furniture, woodworking, all sort of things.

Got the Crafts weed and blower combo actually decent and they are light weight which is 👍, but I've used a Work Milwaukee for some crazy stuff, putting them under water was interesting but a bit unnecessary lol
I have that craftsman drill, I like it more than my DeWalt at work, i have a brushless rp impact driver and largest brushless Rp 1/2" impact , sawzaw , skilsaw i like em all, good for the money.
I do think that the test performed by the individuals on the two drills were not performed properly. For example, the settings were not even mentioned or seen in the footage. In my opinion, letting the viewers see that both drills were set up correctly to the same settings is crucial to depict accuracy not assumptions. Secondly, it appeared that when the Craftsman drill was being used it wasn’t given the same amount of push-force throughout the drilling process whilst the Milwaukee drill you can see the individual using body-weight added when drilling into the wood. While I’m sure the Milwaukee brand is also a iconic tool brand that has been around probably for as long as Craftsman, I am not fully convinced this particular test was performed to provide a fair result. I do believe both brands are tools of design and are there to perform what they were designed for. I love my Craftsman though.
I own the craftsman 20 v set and I’ve used it on everything never had an issue and they line has grown substantially and it’s well worth the price so I will go with craftsman. I build editions remodel I use mine daily and a lot. And there warranty is awesome had a bad drill no questions asked they sent me a new one with an extra battery and I had a wrench that was messed up replaced it as well
Next time you should cover the brand name so no bias in choosing .
I’m so torn because I grew up around a lot of craftsman, but also had a few key Milwaukee tools (looking at you reciprocating saw). We’ll see what fees right I suppose.
As the average homeowner, my first concern is battery compatibility. Of course, reliability, but I have both Craftsman and Milwaukee tools: I have three craftsman tools (blower, shop vac, and chainsaw) and all are powered by the 20v system; I have a Sawzall and Ocsillator tool by Milwaukee and are 12v systems. I'd opt for a tool only addition to replace my aging Rockwell 3Rill. Oh, and it must be brushless- I don't know why, but that's what I want. If I went with Made in USA, then I get the Craftsman for $149 (comes with battery and charger). If it's simply cost, I can get a craftsman for $79 (w/ 1 batt and charger). If I opt for Milwaukee, a 12V tool only is $129. I mean, it's a no brainer considering I'm going to get similar performance for my day-to-day stuff. By the way, I do use my tools quite a bit (at least weekly for various home projects, but I am tackling more and more and need the reliability and power). Even if upgraded to the 18V system by Milwaukee for better power, I don't know if I can justify the expense.
Craftsman V20 series have served me well..
I moved to Milwaukee for the variety of tools they have. Also I had a 20v craftsman skill saw. Complete junk. Wouldn’t even hardly cut a 2x4. The Milwaukee I could frame a house with. I still have some craftsman stuff but any real workhorse type tools I go with Milwaukee.
I just bought the 6 piece combo set at Lowes for $199.00 minus my 10% military discount. The kit comes with a small bag (too small for all the tools) and two 2 amp batteries. Knowing ahead of time those 2 amps won’t hold a charge if really working I also purchased two 6 amp batteries for $99. All charged and and will be testing impact driver and drill hard hard the next 5 days. I will give an informed update soon. The things I know I don’t like at first bite is the circle saw is only 5 3/8 blade (won’t even cut a 2x4) (so it’s basically a trim board saw). The impact driver has a 1/4 hex receiver instead of standard 1/2 inch male. I’m thinking this is a weak point of impact. But I’ll know soon. I may have got an excellent price but I also may have only got what I paid for. Time will tell and I have 90 to return no questions asked
Great video. But next time use the same or equivalent battery sizes. You used a 5.0 for Milwaukee and a 2.0 for Craftsman.
That craftsman battery is only a 1.5 amp, that’s impressive
I've been using the Craftsman 19 v series since the early 2000s. They have been really durable and really great The only tool that has ever failed me was the stupid vacuum. The old nicad batteries eventually died and I got some of the lithium batteries.
They are now making everything older completely incompatible and obsolete so I think I'm done with Craftsman just for that fact alone.
Try the Vanttech lithiun ion batteries/ chargers from Amz to keep the old C3 19.2 volt tools working.

I’ve gone almost all craftsman w/ power tools. More of a hobbyist. If I was a professional, would probably go w/a more expensive brand. I still have many craftsman tools from the 50’s-60’s. They are still excellent.
Wanna see a craftsman VS ryobi battle. They run about the same price points and are both geared more towards DIY/Homeowners.
Craftsman has always been a good brand. I have never purchased any other brand. Craftsman has been around since 1927. It’s been tried and proven. Craftsman is my go to brand of choice.
In my experience with electronics I’ve learned to pay a little more for quality. I made that decision years ago with power tools and chose Makita. The pro brands go on sale 3-4 times a year and they can all be had in combo kits for a reasonable price. It’s worth it to research which one works best for you, pay a little more and have a reliable brand that will better serve you for many more years. Just my 2 cents.
HomeDepot has sells all the time when you buy one pro-grade tool like Milwaukee, Dewalt, Makita, Ridgid, and get one free.

The fact those guys wanted the milwaukee even though craftsman looked the same, sometimes even faster and cheaper... shows us how people just go by brand and dont think for themselves. Everytime they say Milwaukie, and the guy asks "why" they have dumb answers.
I would go with Milwaukee because of their huge line and their constant innovation and new tools where craftsman we have yet to see that
That's why I've Ryobi tools - I had need of a tyre inflation pump and none of the 'big' name brands seemed to have one in their product lines - just home use, though, not commercial/industrial.

I have about 10 pcs from the Craftsman 20v line. This is how they held up under mild use...
Drill: the chuck wobbles and I think is about ready to fall off
Impact driver: sometimes requires a tap or light smack on the workbench in order to work.
Orbital sander: bearing is completely shot (is
now very loud and vibrates out of my hand
Reciprocating saw: non functional
And of course the flashlight is working like a champ lol
Loved them the first and now I cringe Everytime I pull the trigger praying they still work as they should....

The Milwaukee trigger switch screwed up. Happened to my Surge and my gen2 drill. Warrantied and quick to repair when it fails... and it will fail. I prefer Milwaukee be a long shot. More expensive than Craftsman but they are tried and tested for me for many years and pro quality. I use Milwaukee at home and at work. Makita is my equivalent to Milwaukee.
Interesting fact about the craftsman, it runs at 20v but under load it’s 18v. Same as Milwaukee. It’s a slightly less rigid than Milwaukee. But for 50-80 less I think it competes very well

Personally I think DIY(home owners) who buy Milwaukee are infected with Nike- itis....lol.....
Problem is will craftsman be around in a few years. I still have a CP wired (yes wired) drill that is 40 years old and you could take a sledge hammer to it and the torque will go through anything. Seem lowes lost interest in kobalt, I dumped outdoor tools which while still 80v did not have the longevity or torque. Also I am sick of batteries not being interoperable. I mean there are two (Tti, Sbd) out there why do they need to make their batteries incompatible. Total waste. However I will say I use Milwaukee m12 for my main tools (just due to weight) and dewalt 20v for more heavy duty. That seems to be ok. I am not going to sink mad money into 60v platforms but I do appreciate flexvolt.

Yeah. They are going to follow TTI model. Dewalt for high end trades, Craftsman as the mid grade can be good in trade or a DIY and then porter cable, black and decker and bostich to either fill the rest. Not sure where porter cable is going to fall. But having lots of lower end lines allows you to have exclusive contracts with stores without losing sales and the other reason for craftsman.....they are probably hoping you accidentally grab one because you thought it was Milwaukee’, maybe not on power tools but definitely on hand tools

I have Craftsman socket sets and screwdriver sets that are over 40 years old and are still in perfect working order. I don't know what they made the screwdriver shafts out of, but even in those times I used a flat-bladed screwdriver as a chisel or prying tool, that never affected the screwdriver at all.
So yes, Craftsman sockets and screwdrivers are keepers, even though the strength of Sears is no longer there to back the "Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Back" Craftsman warranty.
Because of that, I just don't think the "Craftsman" name has the same respect or juice anymore. Milwaukee has been so innovative over the last 5-10 years, branching out into the plumbing and automotive trades, and keeping its name out there at the forefront of innovation and working respect.
That's a big hole comparatively for Craftsman to climb out of - it's got more of a "my grandpa's tools" reputation. Which can be good for enduring hand tools that can last forever.
But here's a point to consider about the future - much the same way that I will buy a HD Husky brand accessory with lifetime warranty because I think it's a pretty good bet that HD will be around for the foreseeable future, I would place my bets that Milwaukee will be around longer than Craftsman and have greater support and resale value. I just wouldn't want to invest lots of $$$ into a brand and tool line that may be orphaned in the future and leave me kind of high and dry.
Not gonna lie, I trash talk the brand but these seem way nicer than budget power tools from a few years ago. I have some of their previous 19.2v power tools and they aren't nearly as nice as these (still haven't completely killed em though). I think that I would still rather spring for Ryobi or Ridgid for pro-sumer tools just because they are more proven and have a more varied lineup of things.
That said, I use that Milwaukee drill for work (electrician) and I absolutely love it. It's a tank.
I own both craftsman brushless and Milwaukie brushless. And I use both as a contractor no problem. 👍

I don't have to worry so much about having my Craftsman power tools being stolen. With the big names such as Dewalt, Milwaukee you're always worried about your tools walking off. People and Pawn Shops who buy used tools aren't generally going to pay very much for used Craftsman power tools, so it's not worth the thieves/drug addicts time to steal it.
Also another thought on the cost, is I can buy almost 2 Craftsman tools (on sale) for every 1 Big Name Tool. Sure the performance on Big Name tools is a little better than Craftsman but it's not 2 times as better. Life expectancy of the Big Name tool isn't 2 times as better as the Life expectancy for Craftsman. Also both I believe have 3 year warranties.

Nobody seems to be saying this but I will, Milwaukee has a 5 year tool warranty and 3 on the battery. I’m not sure what craftsman has but 5 years is amazing in my opinion to have a tool warranty
I use both brands, always been proud of my Craftsman tools but Milwaukee is quality hands down. What it comes down to is the batteries, once you spend hundreds of dollars on batteries your married to that brand. Both are very good tools.
In my opinion you are better off buying a Milwaukee m12 fuel drill if you're a home owner, it is compact and powerful, the m12 fuel drill and driver set goes on sale often for $199
I would go with affordability 1st and or catch them on sale
I owed a 20V DeWalt for 3 years and I lost it, now I have a craftsman for over 2 months and I can tell you... I don't regret on saving 150 bucks. I liked so much that I bought their cordless miter saw, and again, I use every day to build decks cutting 2x8s and it does the job, you just need to remember to use it properly... It is not a corded saw.
Craftsman is not a DIY brand anymore. Watch the comparation of their 7-1/4 cordless circular saw with the DeWalt, again, it worth it to save some money.
sorry i love the craftsman and the warranty on it is the best home users and it works for me, miter saw, table saw plugin hands down.
