If you make sure that the edges of the tape are pressed down firmly, the paint should not run into the next color.
Maybe it depends on the tape as well, painters tape is not super strong but if you use a super strong one it may help but then it peels of the paint when you remove it. Thank you for watching!

When you completed the white paint, did you do separate coats and let each coat dry or did you do one thick coat of white?
let dry in between fresh coats

I got it from Home Depot, I´m sure any Home Depot would have it, its just blue painters tape. I hope that helps!
