I'm still a little disappointed at the small incremental changes these manufacturers incorporate with the new generations. Here's to wishing big for the next upgrades and thank you for all you do!
Thank you for all of your very in depth videos on all the new ring products. They have been extremely helpful to me in deciding to go with Ring, how it integrates with Alexa and in what parts I need to customize my own system. I literally could not have done it without you. Thank you.
Been wobbling between security cams or doorbell cams. Watched a ton of videos, after finding yours I just ordered 2 of these thanks to you. Nice job sir.
Oh my gosh you live in CC! I've been watching your videos for like a week trying to decide what camera system I should try as a first-timer! Just discovered your channel during this process so it's a nice surprise to know you're a local. Hope you're staying safe! Love your content!
@@LifeHackster I picked up a Ring Indoor Camera and a TP-Link Smart Plug Mini today. :) I live in an apartment so indoor cameras are probably the easiest way to go, and the smart plug will help maintain my privacy. Thank you for your informative videos!!
I think it will be released within this year myself. They just came out with the new chime pro's that use dual band wi-fi but most or all of there cameras only use the 2.4 band, this makes me think Ring will be offering dual band cameras soon. The new chime pro's are visually way better looking than the previous chimes and the signal is much stronger, every camera I have connected to the wifi signal has improved.
I have the first ring video doorbell and do all of these stuff except the pre roll of course and the camera quality. Works perfectly with Alexa automatically with live view too.
I would have loved a review on its new zone coverage. Older versions had a lot of false triggers even in zones turned off. Older versions were better at picking up side to side motion, not straight walking toward the ring. I was able to stand in front of my Ring and Ring 2 waving my hands 5 feet away and it wouldn’t pick up motion while cars driving by triggered it constantly. My home is 15 feet from the road and no options to mount sideways. The wedge was ineffective and Ring sent a replacement that did the same and sent a Ring 2 to try too.
Like the comment about fixing the door....great vids- last year bought the ring pro and wyse cameras based on you videos-- btw wyse cameras running outside for over a year with no issues in the elements with aftermarket housings installed- keep up the great work.
WD40 is meant to be used for things like loosening rusty screws (ref: 11:44). The "greasing" effect on your door hinges will be very short-lived (because that's not it's purpose). Instead, purchase a spray can of white lithium grease. One application is all you will need and should last many many years (even in outdoor weather use like for swingsets).
Thank you very much for the detailed video. It was a christmas gift and installed in December, but I finally got the change to learn to use it thanks to your detailed video.. Daphne
Been waiting for your review to decide if this is worth the wait or if I am better off with the Pro and I think I am leaning to the Pro but will wait for your comparison video. I think the Easter Egg you have is a review of a Litmor Cam 6:26 Hope you had a great easter! Stay safe from Aus
I will be working on the comparison video soon.. still running the Ring 3 just to make sure it doesn't have any issues. Yes, it is the Litmor cam. Thank You.
You know what, I kind of like curb side pick-up, if your in a rush, you just have someone bring it out to you. I hope this becomes an option in the future.
The one area you did not discuss was how to get the Ring 3 Plus to wirelessly connect to a wireless doorbell inside the house should you desire to be notified when someone has rung the doorbell while do not have your phone on your person or do not want to connect it to Alexa. Could you discuss how to do that setup?
Great video ! Just wondering can you install in the same place as your existing ring door bell 2. Meaning will the drill holes align with the existing ring door bell 2 wall mount or blanket drill holes. Thank You !
2:20 - "You can also hardwire it using your existing doorbell wires. But it will only charge your batteries. It will not have the features of the Ring Pro which is Ring's wired video doorbell". So the Doorbell 3 Plus is powered solely via the battery which is in turn charged by the wiring? Is that what you're saying? Is there no way of bypassing the battery and powering the unit directly from the mains wiring?
Hello. Excellent video thank you. I was just wondering if you have the Alexa and if you can have the picture put up on your TV if your watching the TV?? Thank you for your timely response
I want the wireless Ring 3 for motion sensor “You are now being recorded”, only. I already have a security system so I don’t need any cameras or Alexa. Just the voice feature! I hope it works. There are so many to chose from. Hope I got the right one.
Hello love your videos ! Can you open the ring app and watch a live view or is it on event response ? I originally got the blink and it's stuck in event response because I don't want the sync module it slows down the video loading. Thx !
I've got the Ring Doorbell 2 and I was hoping for an update for customizable motion zones like on the Ring Pro where you can draw the motion zones. But the motion zones on the Doorbell 3/3 Plus are exactly the same as the Doorbell 2. So that's disappointing for me. I'll just stick with my Doorbell 2 for the meantime.
How are you able to get echo show to automatically open live view once doorbell is pressed? I currently am looking into purchasing one but have read that feature was not available.
How can you make the echo show 8 pop up the camera automatically when someone presses the doorbell? Mine doesn't work that way I must allways say Alexa show me the front door...
Go to the doorbell camera settings in Alexa and make sure “doorbell press announcements” is turned ON. If it still doesn’t work then unbind your Ring account and log back in the Alexa app.
Looking at getting smart doorbell, but my house is 1m from the road, separated only by the pavement. Will I just get constant motion notifications due to traffic and pedestrians?
I just got one. Mine has a weird white cast at night over the right side. It is by the little lens I’m guessing? So idk what that is but it makes it hard to see anything at night.
Yeah I have a question. I must be behind. so how do you get your Alexa show to automatically go to live view when the doorbell is pressed? Also will that work with a Fire tablet in Show mode? Thanks.
@@LifeHackster yeah I've been able to connect my ring cams to Alexa, but we don't have a normal show. From what I have tested the Tablet with the charging base does connect as an echo device. So I can't give it a location and it won't do the auto show camera. I can ask it to show the camera just fine.
Hi, 3+ sounds good. I've heard much about a 24VAC transformer and requiring a resister if I don't have a coil chime inside. I was hoping that you would mention that in your video. If you know what is required for the resister value and wattage size (since I expect to use Alexa for alert) and dont' need to buy a hard-wire chime, please let me know.
I have the original ring doorbell & an outdoor nest camera. I prefer the Nest camera because it just seems like a smoother product with better software & it records 24/7. If I were to upgrade my doorbell, would you recommend a newer ring doorbell or the Nest doorbell? Thanks!
I'll probably go with the Ring Pro... just because Ring is proactive and continually update their products.. also, try to shy away with 24/7 cloud recording because it uses up a lot of your internet bandwidth. Nest recently emailed subscribers that they will temporarily lower than the quality of their cameras because of increased internet usage.
@@LifeHackster thank you! I had no idea, I was leaning heavily towards the Nest. I haven't been impressed with my ring, it's been missing a lot of motion, so I've missed a lot of video. It may be because it's old. Thanks again!
Great video as always. I have the Ring 2 and was wondering if there anyway to get my live videos to load all the time without getting error message. Maybe its a cool down thing. I currently have 2.4 and 5ghz network at home. I was thinking about upgrade to the Pro to see if that fixes the spinning circle attempting to connect. Any insight from you would be great. Thanks and keep the videos coming!!!
If you keep having blacked out screen or live view not loading, it might be a WiFi signal issue. Check the device health and see the RSSI.. it should show a low number < 60 preferably.
Yes, I think the camera hardware itself are the same except for the little black and white pin hole cameras for the pre-roll. Also, the motion detection is more customizable preventing false notifications.
@@LifeHackster The pre-roll to me is worth the upgrade has been working great. Seems to me is always on looking for motion instead of turning on when motion discovered.
Hey I was wondering if you could give me some guidance on my install. Not sure what the old system I had on. But when I removed I had 6 wires. An Orange, Blue, and a Green. Each one of those had a white wire twisted up with it. Give me a total of 6 wires and to bare ground wire. Any help with a correct wire up would be great. Thanks for you time!
How did you build that wooden box to mount your doorbell? Got a video on that or instructions you can share? Does the auto display on the echo show work with all of the ring doorbells?
It is just a 1x2 box that I made just for review purposes.. Look at my older doorbell videos and you will see that my brick wall is already riddled with holes :)

When doing doorbell reviews can you please include what the clicky button feels like? I hate buttons that feel mushy. Makes me unsure if the button is pushed or not. THANKS!!!
I wonder if the Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus, now works nicely with Orbi Mesh Wifi? Anyone, use the Orbi RB50 with Ring battery devices and figured a workaround or will this new 3 Plus fix it?

Hello Life Hackster, please i wish to find out which ring product can be used in a bank and specifically in a banking hall where u have movements 247 for at least 8 hours a day. Which ring camera can provide minute by minute recording for all the events in the banking hall?
For your situation, go with a wired NVR system with 4K cameras like the Reolink, Swann, Lorex, Dahua, Hikvision. Ring cannot record 24/7 and is still only in 1080p resolution.
1 question that im having trouble finding is, ( How many phones can you have the Ring 3 plus send the live feed too, or can you only have 1 phone that it send's too ? ). Thanks.
How long would the battery last u when fully charged ? Also some say the time between when someone rings the doorbell and when u get the live feed on your iPad/iPhone can be like 10 seconds, any experience with this? Im thinking about buying one.
So having the echo show activate everytime the doorbell is pressed doesnt interrupt when u try to answer on your phone if your not home?? Does it cause any lag?
Can you use it like the view door? Are we able to use the peep hole to install it? Something im checking out since im jn an apartment. Bc i like how this version looks in black vs the ring view door peep hole version. Also what about different doorbell sounds? bc i kinda dont like how the doorbell sounds.
So I am thinking of getting the 3 Plus. If I have a handful of Amazon Echoes around the house, do I still need to buy the chime to plug into the wall or can I use the echoes for notifications and avoid buying that extra chime? Thank you
Great video. Thanks! I saw several "poor connection" indications on your phone. I'm hearing the 3 is WORSE than the 2 and 1 when it comes to connectivity. Were you on the 2.4GHz or 5GHz band? Approximate distance of your router from the Ring 3? What was your RSSI value? I've got a new one of these still in the box. Debating whether or not to hook it up.
It is connected to my Eeros at 5GHz. I have a mesh network but I'm learning that it is connected to a farther eero pod which is around 20 feet and 2 walls.. still troubleshooting it.. as to "poor connection" I have that pop up lately even on my floodlight and my Ring Pro but haven't had any choppy footage or disconnections..so I'm letting it be.. my RSSI is 60 but I saw the poor connection message even when my RSSI is 54.
@@LifeHackster Thanks a lot. I'm frustrated because my 4 year old ORIGINAL Ring Doorbell is WAY better in terms of connectivity and RSSI. I've got it about 50 feet from my router on a DIFFERENT floor and it still connects instantly with an RSSI of 40. The Ring 2 and 3+ are on the same floor only 12 feet & 18 feet away with RSSI's of 55 and 66, and the new 3+ often has connectivity issues. If only the original Ring had a better quality picture, I'd buy 2 more of those.
Hello. I've had Arlo cameras for a few years now and looking into my first Ring doorbell. Which one would you recommend?. I have a camera facing my front door from the driveway/walkway but by the time I'm notified my package is dropped off and they are gone. Wondering if Ring facing that way would be better & if it would notify me as soon as motion is detected or only after the doorbell rings?
Ring pro would be the best choice if you have an existing wired doorbell setup.. if now the Ring 3 Plus should also work. Ring will give you faster notifications than most other brands. Ring will notify you when it senses motion on the motion zones that you set and also when somebody presses the doorbell.
Hi! I have the Ring peephole camera and the 2 way audio is terrible. Also when the door is opened it freezes the video quite often. I spoke to Ring many times and even replaced the unit, but nothing helps. Do you thing this new model will work better with the 5 ghz option? Also, do these have better quality mics and cameras compared to the peephole camera?

I have a question about the ring floodlight can. Can you turn on and off or disable the flood camera and the live view from the app ?
At this time, No. You can however disable motion notifications or with more steps, disable motion zones so that the camera will not record.
How long would the battery last u when fully charged ?
Also some say the time between when someone rings the doorbell and when u get the live feed on your iPad/iPhone can be like 10 seconds, any experience with this? Im thinking about buying one.
I found out the difference between ring 3 and ring 3 plus. Ring 3 does not have pre-roll. Ring 3 plus have pre-roll.
What is pre-roll?
When I uses ring doorbell 2 I had some problems with live view as it would be stuck. Is it same on ring doorbell 3 plus or pro
Check to see if you have good WiFi in your front door and also your phones signal when you are accessing the camera.
@@LifeHackster wifi router is asus ac68u placed exactly 2 feet away from doorbell at maim door
@@LifeHackster Thank you!
does it come with batteries?
Please do the new keypad gen 2 too, I’m curious if it has a bright green full battery led
I'll check it out. Thanks.
It seems it is better even video quality as compared to their peephole cam which I reviewed when it came out..and no really a fond of it.
So no colour of a night time then ... thought the Doorbell 2 had that (or am I wrong) .. if is available then why not on the Doorbell 3 as well ?
