Regular Rustoleum contains acetone so it will eat most plastic and resin surfaces. I'm curious to know what type of plastic he sprayed and whether or not there were small pits that the camera didn't pick up.
What if we apply this on wooden shlef.... Will the results be same or different because you said that the other side will be like mirror but in wood the spray paint could not be able to make effect on other side
Sir would you like to tell me , can we use these kinds of mirrors in telescope pleas for best results . anxiously waiting for your good response please. Thankyou
Puede usar Rust-Oleum chrome. Que le dará un efecto cromado. Esto solo funciona para darle una apariencia de vidrio al exterior del alguna pieza de vidrio.
I don't know what I did. I sprayed the outside of an acrylic punch bowl. It came out Gray. I went and got another punch bowl and tried it again. Again .....grey I sprayed the outside of the bowl to have the mirror effect inside the bowl. The crazy thing is on the second bowl While the inside was dull gray instead of mirrored, the outside (part i painted) was actually shinier that the inside. I did the light coats 10-12 inches away nothing. Also, on the can it says wait 1-2 mins between coats. but in the rust-oleum how to video it said wait 10 mins between coats. So I f---ed up 2 damn punch bowls and wasted 2 cans of this high ass paint. I know damn well its supposed to work but I don't know what I did. 40 dollars down the drain. I just gave up and ordered a stainless steel mixing bowl which has the mirror effect was going for. Wish I'd thought of it earlier!
@@alanwilson43 i'm certain it is the mirror effect. Also another interesting thing is I had a top to a jar that I wasn't going to use so when i first got the paint, I just tested it without shaking or anything and sprayed the inside of the top....While the paint ran a little the effect was perfect and it indeed had the mirror finish. But I couldn't replicate that again. I got frustrated and gave up. LOL ..... I do still have a full can. I am going to try it on a glass from a picture frame and see what i get.
Hello M Sounds like the punch bowl wasn't entirely acrylic or had a protective clear coat of enamel or composite. Probably better that it didn't work... turning the bowl grey instead of the stomachs of you and your family and guests.
The solvent used in the spray painy ate away the plastic from your bowl. Plastics designed for food are much different than plastics used in industrial process. For example, nail polush remover (acetone) is stored in a plastic bottle but if you accidentally get it on a clear food bowl it clouds the bowl. Nail polish is thinned with acetone as a solvent. Spray paint, like nail polish, is an oil based enamel paint and in order to keep it from evaporating out of its liquid form needs a solvent. So you see, the solvents used to maintain the spray paints ability to spray ate away at your food-plastic bowls. You can next time try a glass bowl, ceramic, or a type of plastic used to store solvents. You can look up the types of plastics on any search engine as well as which solvents will deteriorate them chemically. How do I know this? Tried to clean a price tag off a designer salad bowl and shamefully lost that battle.
He needs spray paint lessons nobody sprays that close and nobody keeps hard pressure on the tip,8-10 inches away sweeping motions...you could have used a hub cap
Bless you brother, in speaking another language and doing it big
This could be used at a place in a bldg that gives you a visual of blind spots , or if you can’t see what’s coming down a blind alley , great idea
Shake the can then spray first for a second away before spraying the item your spraying, if you don't you can see what happens @ 2:58
Lol and use good form
Huhhhhh?
Great video. I want to buy this for some projects I'll be working on
Allowing the glass to act as the uniform surface is such a good idea.
I painted my bike in that's and my mate love it he kept looking himself on my frame
As long as you achieved what you were going for, don't worry about the trolls. lol.
Thanks for the video. Can I use this to spray my alloy wheels?
What I’m fixing to do
This is really cool and a 100 things I use it for.
Very informative video. Thank you Alan..

Really helpful! Thank you!
is this surface made of glass or plastic ??
Very helpful thank you
Was thinking of doing the back cover on my Kia sportage wing mirrors
I tried this paint on polycarbonate and it melted it a bit enough to prohibit a mirror finish. What kind of plastic are you using? Thank you

No, you'd need to buy a chrome spray paint kit.
What if I just spray 2 coats?
It won’t be perfect I recommend spraying 4-5 times
Where we can buy that dome shape acrylic
That looks good
Thank you sir this was helpful
Thanks ! Good video and idea!
Hello! Just wondering what brand you specifically went for / recommend, Thankyou :)
Hey just to know where did he get the convex surface glass
is this surface made of glass or plastic ??
Would this last outside in the weather? I was thinking of concentrating light into my greenhouse during winter.
My intention was to use it outside but didn't get a chance to leave it outside. The coating was really good. I believe it will work fine outside.
How would you plan on spraying that?
Surprisingly the first 3 coats were already reflective on the spray side... but the 5th wasn't.
Cool
Perfect!!
is it works on wood ?
no, the surface needs to be as smooth as glass
Guessing this is the first time you've ever used spraypaint.
Porkchop's Papi ll
hi you can used this paint and metal like rims for car
newbie here! does the surface have to be clear/transparent? can it be metal?
For mirror effect it has to be clear, if it is for some other applications it might work
I like your humility....it shows your integrity. Thanks for the video!
Will it work for black also?
If the surface is black it might not going to work because when you spray this, inner side gets the mirror effect. I only tried it on clear surface
Would it work to chrome rims
Nope. Only on something that is clear.
Could you coat a clear salad bowl from take-out restaurant? I'm thinking $3 r2d2 robot head! Subscribed!
It should work
From where you got that acrylic glass? pleaseee.. I want it.
I bought it from amazon, just look for acrylic half sphere
Alan Wilson Thank you.. i really needed it

If you don’t hear the ball keep shaking, the chemicals have settled. If the ball doesn’t budge then call the company or return.
Thank you, That's a good point
thank you
So this is acrylic not glass right?
Yes, It will work perfect with glass
Love ur dancing 😍
where can i buy it
Can we make 1st surface glass mirror thru rust oleum??
How can we make mirror invisible
Hello how mch is this can you send me to turkey
Enda Kerala Maano???
Interesting
can i use this on metal ? to paint rim for motorbiker ?
No. It only gives a mirror look on a transparent surface. It's dull if you spray it on wood or metal. Or an opaque plastic.
Im looking for a holographic rainbow spray paint
Did you ever find any rainbow spray paint?
@@ToddAcamesis nope
Se puede usar para pintar mesa de metal y tener el mismo efecto?
No, esto es sólo para transformar una superficie clara en espejo. Hay otros productos que podrían darle el efecto que está buscando.
Gracias.
Conoce usted alguno?

I am not sure why it did happen like that. are you sure you used the mirror effect because they do have other similar products give different effects.
