    Chessman’s, L and Ms. I grew up on Oak st, and my dad use to drink in there back in the 1960s, then I drank in there for a few decades. A lot of memories. Live in Florida now. What a shame..

    Good job vertical ventilation! It was obvious from the early get-go this fire either started or had progressed to a well involved attic fire. Good job to first-in and second-in engine and truck companies!

      I also liked the use of 1.75 inch for high up smoke and heat ventilation out the dormer window.

    Much respect and thanks to all fire rescue and pd person's . I have a question .when firefighters vent the roof it seems like to me they are giving the fire a chimney or breathing hole ? Like opening the flew on a wood stove . Just curious

      It allows the heat to vent. Intense heat causes major problems igniting more inside.

      Smoke and heat rises, the faster you get it out the better. That way you can see better!

      They broke the number one safety rule. They had no charged hand line to protect themselves while ventilating on the roof. That is nothing but a suicide mission! Shows the stupidity, and yes it’s stupidity of the departments involved. That is the number one rule when you were doing ventilation on the roof you always have a charged headline with somebody holding it!

    Venting is done to draw the heat & smoke from inside. It also determines if you have fire in the roof spaces ( known as a cockloft) If you have a roof line the fire can be hit from the roof, or from inside the fire building. A simple explanation.

      A simple explanation of your ability to repeat what others have told you and your inability to think for yourself. Just like the people who told you what to think. All that means, you and they are wrong.

    Cutting the roof is to give heat and smoke a vertical escape route. How ever cutting on the windward side of the peak in that wind condition forces fresh air in an does not provide the intended effect. You will note shortly after the hole is place the superheated smoke ignite on the other side of the roof. Venting needs to be done on the leeward side of a peeked roof in windy conditions. Great save of an older cut up building!

      YOU is not spelled with just a "u". Did you make it past 6 grade grammar and spelling???
      Secondly, It's ENTIRELY possible that the ceiling couldn't be pulled from below and that's why they had to do it from the top. You need to learn fire suppression and building construction yourself.

    No roof work needed. No upper window Breaking needed. No hydraulic ventilation in an upper floor with no fire needed. Just conventionally open the windows.

      The FACT that fire was venting from their vent holes on the roof shows you're completely wrong about that.

      Sometimes there has to be holes cut to let the heat out because it can get hot inside where the firefighters have to work outside, their gear can only keep so much heat away from their bodies before they have to get out. Buildings can get so hot example “ being inside a closed up car” image you having all that gear on and being inside which I am going to guess 300 degrees F maybe even hotter, the heat can melt the shields on the helmets, plus their body heat, it’s like walking into a oven with no way heat to escape , this is regardless if it is snowing or raining.

    • @JB91710
      @JB91710 2 роки тому

      @@gooddayevery1 If you open the fire room windows from the exterior, the heat and gasses will exit because that becomes the pressure release location. You apply water to the burning material from the exterior to stop combustion and cool the interior. Then you open the front door and more windows to horizontally vent. As you go in, you cool the remaining gasses with water and extinguish the rest of the fire. Everything continues to go out the windows. Here are some videos to show how to do this job.
