The unbelievable thing is that there is now a tesco truck close behind with who won't have the faintest idea what is going on and could have hit you if you have to brake sharply and caused a huge crash scene. If the police got hold of this and could identify the driver, he should never be allowed behind the wheel of a car again
Every single driver should be made to do a "truck simulator" as a mandatory part of new driver training, so they can see just how difficult it is being a truck driver. Likewise, they should have to do a "motorcycle simulator" to demonstrate how vulnerable it is being a biker. I think everyone would get along a lot better then.
That was a quick overtake for a truck. I've been stuck behind trucks for ages in the past, but that's part of driving I guess! Sometimes it's nice to be behind a truck and not feeling under pressure from the dickless wonder behind me to go at 90! As in all walks of life you'll meet good and bad car and truck drivers, I can tell you car drivers are by far i the majority of bad drivers!
Are NHS trucks limited to 55 too? As I noticed one clogging Lane 1 of M4, at least the other HGVs look like they are overtaking at a descent speed for once when going 60 hehe.
I've often wondered why lorries travelling at 56.0113 miles per hour feel the need to overtake those travelling at 55.9783 miles per hour on a road like this for 12 miles
trucks go for 4 and a half hours at a time and believe it or not this small piece of speed over this time makes quite a difference and 90 per cent of the time us truckers are in a rush.
hi ned like your vids im 22 and a driver aswell i love when i overtake another lorry and it tackes a bit of time getting by then you get the arsehole in a corsa giving you the finger at the side of you a quick swerve of the steering wheel you should c there face makes my day and that looks like a tidy volvo
This is actually the fastest lorry overtake ever! I've been stuck behind one on the A1 who took over 2 miles to pass another lorry and just after passing took the exit straight off. Now that's taking the piss!
thanks for the advice nedddyyy . lol, much appreciated.., hows things anyway? ive a few companies in mind really that i might hit for a few calls as some of them are a good distance away frm mehere in bray ya know..
well ned, it's easy to report to the police, and hand this video edvience over to them, cos you have his register plate number, he'll getting banned and get heavily fined.
From what I saw that was a quick overtake so I don't see the problem why this Toyota moron would be up in arms. I know most people would say I am stupid but honestly I would have just gone into the back of him because he is clearly putting his life at risk, acting like a complete fool and as you had another big lorry behind you that was a very dangerous situation he put you all in.
I’ve had that happen more than once Ned, last time was a guy in a silver Merc on the M1……I was in my van and noticed him following me when he could have easily overtaken me but didn’t….suddenly he overtook me got a few yards in front then slammed on, being an ex international HGV 1 Driver I’m always checking mirrors so I knew there was no one close behind, so I braked hard and avoided him, coming to a stop in the middle lane…he sat there for quite a few seconds staring at me in his rear view mirror then suddenly accelerated hard away leaving me sat there with by now fast traffic coming behind so I had to shift out of the way bloody quick….I regularly experience what your showing there, it’s far from rare now on UK roads. Mate coming from France had it happen to him coming out of Portsmouth recently off the ferry.
Some of the negative comments appall me and these guys who made them are as bad as that cranky idiot who could have caused carnage on the road that day killing innocent drivers. Yes I agree lorries on our roads are an inconvenience and there are far too many BUT we dont try to get them to jack-knife and cause a pile up on the roads. That idiot that red plastic pig needs to be taken off the road before he kills someone. He is a maniac and probably does not have any legal documents to drive. He could have caused a serius pile up and guess what????? He would of scurried off like the chicken hearted asshole he is and left all his victims to deal with what ever he caused to happen. You done the right thing Ned good on you mate. From a UK driver
thanks for the advice nedddyyy . lol, much appreciated.., hows things anyway? ive a few companies in mind really that i might hit for a few calls as some of them are a good distance away frm me here in bray ya know.. ive a few in mind like dixys and virginia and nolans in new ross.., have a friend that drives for them but hes based in wales.. also stobbart has me oin for the driver assesement in couple of wks time too soo something might come out of it.., thanks again ! Andy
Sorry, as someone who drives a lorry if you are limited to 52Mph and the lorry ahead of you is limited to 50Mph you need to stay put. Youre travelling 76.2 feet per second and the other lad is 73.3. It would take you donkeys years to pass him instead of staying where you are but instead you chose to hinder traffic and create congestion, especially on a dual carriageway. Motorway I'd say grand but you had to pass faster than 52 to make it that quick per the video. Bad manners on part of the car though I must admit. You have more to risk being over the speed limit and having a commercial licence than your man does with a standard licence.
he didn't cut in,there was a gap...... I am,as a car driver,do not see a problem here,in my case i wouldn't even brake, just slow down by taking your foot of the acceleration....it's not M road,so lorry allowed to use right lane....there is more chance that the red car idiot will cause the crash than this lorry driver....
he was doing less than 50 mph when i passed him and my speed was no more than 52mph at best but probably less i was busy watching my mirrors sorry cant be exact
its a shame we cant see a reverse camera, im suspecting you pulled out while the car was going 70mph and you was going 52mph . if the guy in the car had to brake he must have got p**s off, thats the only reason i can see why he got mad, but the car driver should have not braked sharply in front of you,
To be fair we cant see how big of a gap you had to pull out into when you started to pass. On more than one occasion I have had lorry's pull out on me with only meters to spare to make an over taking manoeuvre. I firmly believe that truckers think themselves superior and impervious to dangers on the road and consider other road users to be an inconvenience.
I think you're being a bit unfair to HGV drivers, who generally accumulate much more time, and distance on the roads, and as a result, are probably more experienced than other road users. The idiot shown in this video does deserve some [payback], but karma will do that later. Ned or anyone else may have missed what happened, and as a result - ploughed into the back of the idiot. And see how the idiot soon shot off, like the coward he/she is. YES I too have had rare occasions with HGV drivers, and yes, given the speed and conditions, it can be intimidating to a much smaller car driver (and passengers). But again, they were VERY rare and I still consider st/all of them as 'Professional drivers. I Recently, I was on the M-65, when a car came flying down a slip-road, than in a single movement, the car shot straight across to the outside [Lane 3] into several vehicles - all clearly without checking mirrors or looking back. It certainly gave everyone in the traffic a nasty scare. A couple even having to brake and/or avoid. I think most would agree with you, Ned, Moe and -"SUDD-UP BILLY."
The reasons they are allowed is to keep traffic flow up in lanes 1 and 2. They are not allowed in Lanes 3 (or more). So what happens when someone breaks down or the road is blocked in lane 1 ? Lol
Thanks for the info, I personally wouldn't have believed it due to the sheer number of trucks going much faster than that on the motorways of this country.
OK the idiot in the car needs a ban but trucks should not be allowed to overtake on duel carriageways or motorways ,they cause these incidents ,This truck was driven very well in a responsible manor but I can tell you from years of driving experience truck drivers can be utter assholes that bully there way out and leave you sitting there for ages while he crawls past ,ban trucks from overtaking or allow them to go faster I don,t care either way,on a final note the worst offenders for phone use while driving from my experience are truck drivers ,I drive for work approx 40k per year so I have a fair cross the board reference.
What the car driver did is wrong... BUT, I am going to guess the driver of the red car was upset because you made him stop quickly by pulling out on him with alot less of a gap than you make out? I guess this because it happens to all car drivers all the time when driving on (A) Roads. Trucks limited to 50 or 52mph are continuously and suddenly pulling out on us without any regard for us, as they are protected by 10m of trailer... so its up to the car to brake hard and drop from 70mph to 45mph in as much time as the truck driver wants to give you? When I am doing 70+ its frustrating, dangerous, wasteful of my time, fuel and brake pads to have to suddenly slow down for Mr Truck driver that thinks "I am indicating so I am going to pull out and I am bigger than you so its your problem!" Trucks should not be allowed to pass each other on dual carriageways... then this would not be a problem. They are all only doing 50ish mph anyway. If you have ever been stuck in slow moving traffic on the A1 just look up the road and I guarantee the reason is truck drivers selfishly trying to overtake each other, on hills, blocking traffic flow. If you drive in the uk alot like i have to you will know just what i am talking about.
It would then cause MASSIVE tailbacks of lorries in the slow lane, causing slow cars to move into the fast lane and go slowly, just leave it as it is and have some patience, lorry drivers need to get to where their load needs to be dropped off. If it was a delivery for you in that lorry then you would want it to turn up as quickly as possible, but as it is not for you, people start hating the drivers. PATIENCE
Minin' Net That may be so... but it does not excuse they way alot of truck drivers act when pulling out on cars... and I disagree with your comment, we could/should put all that cargo back on trains and I would rather get to where i am going than sit behind trucks all day long... They are paid to sit on the road all day long 99.9% of the rest of us are not, its just a wast of our life.
Just a few things Reginald: 1: you have no idea how much room ned left so you cannot make such a comment about him. 2: just because other truck drivers are pulling out on drivers, doesn't mean you can judge every truck driver like he does. 3: you shouldn't be driving at '70+'. The speed limit is 70. No more than that. 4: your first 4 paragraphs are ranting about the same thing. Maybe YOU should stop wasting OUR time by continuously repeating the same point. 5: (as already stated) if trucks were not aloud to overtake, there would be a tailback of trucks. Plus just because they are trucks, doesn't mean they should have their driving rights taken away from them (apart from speed limiting. They are there to make roads safer (no.3) 6: there is nothing selfish about trucks overtaking trucks. 7: if cargo was to be transported on trains, not only would the last 60, 70 years of HGV development have been for nothing, but the rail networks would get clogged up. And many truck drivers would loose their jobs. (And by many, I mean thousands). 8: truck drivers are not employed to 'sit on the road all day', they are emlloyed to transport FOOD, parcels and other misc items from one building to another. 9: truckers don't just drive, they also have to navigate, make split second decisions and get cargo to the delivery spots before their deadlines. 10: no matter what ned did (or didn't) do, the driver of the red car should not have driven wrecklessly (yes, that isvwhat he did, or maybe you missed that part) and put other's lives in danger. 11: if you want to keep acting like a twat, be my guest. But let me ask you this, have you ever been a HGV driver? If not, then fuck off as you have no idea what it is like. I shall now apologise for any spelling or grammar mistakes as I was never great at English lit. Ned kelly, I hope they find the guy and give him what he deserves.
Timothy Michael Well in the next 10 years or less trucks will be driving themselves and they will do a much better job of it... so thats something to look forward to! :D
***** Aren't you the knight of the road. Maybe they were perfectly prepared to wait for you to pass until you decided to sit there. How do you think everyone behind you feels about you keeping pace with a lorry and holding them up? You can't complain about overtaking lorries when you're alongside a lorry and not even overtaking.
hey ned...., what do u think i shud do if companies want you to have experience but none of the fcukers wont open the doors for fellas like myself that want to have a career on the rd.. what u think i shud do ned or whats ur advice? Andy
Am I the only one that thinks a limiter bypass would work? Say it allowed an extra 5 or 10 mph for an overtake then back to speed again? Or just ban HGV overtakes on a dual carriageway. I've been behind them a few times where it can take miles. Take the M54 for example. You can't go more than half a mile without meeting two trucks side by side. If it's a genuine overtake (like in this vid) then I don't have an issue with it but if it's the 56mph vs 55mph sort they really need to give their heads a wobble. As for the peenarse in the car - without a rear view we don't know if you pulled out and made him brake/etc so can't say why he's annoyed but he's still an idiot either way.
+Ian g Having HGV's limited to different speeds on the road is a recipe for disaster, causing anger and frustration up and down the country, A14 is another example of "lorry racing" where long tailbacks occur with other road users, HGV's should be confined to lane one, all limited to the same speed, would be much safer all round.
+Maverick47100 You are assuming that no other road users will overtake at slow speed. Plenty of cars now drive at between 50-60mph on dual carriageways as it dramatically improves fuel consumption. Most overtaking drivers accept short delays like this with good grace.
I appreciate that without dedicated truckers we wouldn't be able to just nip to the shop and grab a loaf of bread. I also appreciate they're under enormous time constraints. What frustrates me is when lorries overtake each other on hills and cause massive congestion for everyone else - including other truckers.
This may sound like a stoopid question (hope it doesn't... but) why do trucks seem to have a number of different speed restrictions? Some are 50, some are 52 some are 55... I am a bus driver myself and all buses (at least ours) are limited to 57, unless they're the National Express coaches which (i believe) are limited to 62. There just seem to be many more options for trucks. Am guessing its to do with length/weight or a mix of both?
Don't listen to everyone's hateful comments, you did the right thing. That's dangerous driving. I'd take that to the police, these drivers shouldn't be on the road. Good job, keep it up. I'll subscribe :) great video
Why not? That was a perfectly safe overtake, the only problem being he had an impatient ricer behind him. He pulled in as soon as he could, didn't seem to cause traffic as the only car to actually pass him after was the red car. I think all new car drivers should be shown what can happen if you brake check a 40 tonne lorry...
who can say that this truck driver didnt cut that driver up? thats usually the cause of road rage, when a hgv cuts you up so he can crawl past another hgv at 1 mile per hour faster eating spaghetti bolognese out of a sauce pan or watching a german war film on his laptop thats perched on the dash
thepoultrypeople Your last post explains a lot about yourself. Just another jumped up piece of shit who thinks he has the right of way and also suggests that because trucks are slower it means they shouldn't overtake? am I right? get a grip of life. Enjoy the queue behind me and remember this, what your wearing on your back now was brought to a store by a truck! well everything even the bricks on your house was brought by a truck!
bless you. Again your post suggests to me that your either a troll or a silly little car driver that us drivers have to put up with on a daily basis, you know the stupid sort that come from lane 3 to take a slip road, you know the sort that think they own the road. have a good night touching yourself. I am off to deliver your shit you ordered
Hey man, I'm not a trucker, I'm only 14 and I'm really into trucks, and all the makes and sizes and places they come from! To see someone post them as you do on youtube is amazing! I thank you for that! And As for this I saw something like this happen, A small car coming off of a turning onto the A 12 Pulled out infront of a Volvo car transporter, I believe the car driver was drinking, Hope you're okay from this, Stay safe out there man. --Bren a young fan
You asked for thoughts, these are mine. Trucks are a pain in the ass. Especially when they are trying to overtake another truck whilst travelling only 2 miles an hour faster. Most of the time, they seem to overtake other trucks going a lot less than 2 miles an hour faster. This causes a bottle neck. Why aren't all trucks limited to 50? It would be so much easier for everyone, including truck drivers. We should adopt the German way and ban trucks from coming out of lane 1 at busy periods. Yes, the car driver was a bit of a dick, but I still think more of him than a truck driver trying to save precious seconds. Trucks make a moderately busy motorway extremely busy with their antics, and you piss people off. So don't expect much sympathy when this sort of shit happens.
"Why aren't all trucks limited to 50?" The same reasons cars and motorcycles aren't limited to 70. I'll leave you to work it out. The government know why, and HGV speed limits are set to rise on single and dual carriageways from January 1st next year. It can't come soon enough. "This causes a bottle neck." Nope. That's a somewhat extraneous use of the word "bottleneck." What causes a bottleneck, is drivers of cars insisting it's perfectly acceptable to hog the middle lane through road works, do less than the posted speed limit, have the ignorance to not realise an HGV cannot pass on either side, and the arrogance to stay stuck in the middle lane anyway. Welcome to the UKs biggest reason for congestion. Middle lane hoggers!
myelectroncloud No....the biggest reason for congestion is roads not built to handle the volume of traffic. In the states they build proper highways and they make use of all 3/4/5 lanes to pass each other. It is called traffic flow and it works. We use our motorways this way in the UK too, it is just considered illegal because the rules date back to a time when motorways were smaller and we had less traffic. As usual, the laws have not keep abreast with the motorway changes.
monk3yboy69 "No....the biggest reason for congestion is roads not built to handle the volume of traffic." No. It's people too ignorant and/or too arrogant to use the roads properly. Blaming the problem on the road network is just a bad workman blaming his tools. Unfortunately we have to contend with the rules; no undertaking and no HGVs in the outside lane of a three lane motorway. We have an extensive road improvement scheme; many motorways now have four lanes. What do we see? Those drivers that used to hog the middle lane, now hog lane three. If we had nine lanes; they'd hog lane eight! It's like Jeremy Clarkson says, "If people have room to undertake you; you have room to pull in."
myelectroncloud Sometimes, the lowest risk of injury is a long "shunt-forward-survival" space in front of an HGV rather than it toppling over as it passes.
Trucks are a pain in the ass, but nearly everything you own came in on the back of one, including your house(in bits like a Lego set obviously). When you do 80-100k miles a year, fuck no are you sitting at 50 when you can do 52-56 depending on truck. It may be a pain in the ass, but no more so than the idiot drivers who sit in lane two doing 50mph or who drive like assholes in general. The lorry may be pulled out and caused the car to brake, but most likely it is a lack of awareness from the car, or the car just being an idiot.
I have always had the highest respect for lorry drivers and I cannot imagine how hard it is to drive one. If one decides to overtake me, I usually slow down to let him in if I can and flash to let him know that it is safe to come in. Not exactly in the Institute of Advanced Motorists handbook, but they usually appreciate it.
For over 20 Years I drove Large Emergency Service Trucks, with Red Lights, later Red and Blue Lights on My Trucks and nobody ever did this in front of Me.
So if you stop all trucks from overtaking then what happens when they come up behind a slower truck in a crawler - lane ? , not going to happen is it !!!
The effect can't be as bad as you say even if there were other cars behind, it would only slow some cars momentarily, some just have to be patient about it. The ripple didn't go far here either. Some idiots have said to restrict trucks in one lane. That would probably make the traffic worse with other vehicles having trouble exiting. It would also make it hard for trucks to get to some odd exits on the right side, they would need to go over multiple lanes to get there. What would you suggest?
It's good to see that someone with so many views has such sensible opinions and is far more mature than most of the road rage people on YT. I've a great deal of respect for that :-)
Nice one Ned. One word, IGNORANCE. It's more common than you might think, I've seen it plenty of times and it can result at best with pallets shifting, all because some idiot has a fit of road rage. My own personal opinion is that all trucks should have the limiter set at 90Ks. I dont know any truck driver that wants to drive up the M way at 80/85 Kph. You drive at 80kph on a wet day and every truck that passes will destroy your windows. But there is no excuse for that idiots irresponsible behaviour. Keep on trucking.
Well said Graeme, and a point well made agree with you 100% big issue here in ireland with fools sauntering out onto a motorway and expecting those already on the road to get out of their way...great point
As a car driver for over 10 years I'd just laugh at the car driver, however since becoming a BUS driver this year I know what it takes to be able to handle 8,000kgs+ of Vehicle! A driver like that is the reason accidents happen. If they knew what it takes to be able to drive a Bus/Truck he may think twice about doing that again. Fair play to you Ned for not lowering yourself to his level. Continued safe driving!
Hay Ned, i had a van do the same to me on the way to Hull but I didn't catch it on video for my vlog, I was in a 22 tonne fridge truck...I didn't cut him up and I used my indicator but for some reason because he was already in the fast lane all be it half a chuffin mile back he felt aggrieved enough so that he brake checked me twice inches from my bumper lucky for him he didn't do it a third time because I wasn't going to brake again and I would have rammed him and let him explain to the law why his van was crushed, best part is he had two workmates with him...twat. All the best ff.
My dad former truck driver had a "grill in the front/cow killer" installed after someone cut him off and he dint brake (track damage, repair time its a pain, dealing with insurances), after the grill almost no one cuts in off and if someone tried like they did, u could say good buy to ur back end! LMAO And cameras are great!
If only this had been on the motorway, he could have used the GermanCar Lane & then He would have suffered the road rage lol. I am not surprised at all
@trogolodyte....the speed limit for HGV's on a dual carriageway is only 50mph, not 60. 40 for single carriageway, 50 for dual carriageway and 60 for motorway.
well done Ned.This is a rare thing in the UK but it can happen very often everywhere else especially Ireland.I think as truck drivers from Ireland we should get some lads together to open a facebook page & high light some of the problems we face including abuse from other road users the police abuse we get sometimes & abuse by customers employees. It needs to be shown.any suggestions welcome.
I had a guy do that at the bottom of the hill at Newport on the M4, he was much closer to the front of my artic and had two young girls not strapped in in the back of his car if I hadn't reacted quickly and stamped on the brakes those two young girls may well have wound up dead and me too traumatised to go back to work
I have been driving HGV / LGV for about 25 years and cars for about 37 years and cycling for 50 years. Its a fact of life their are idiots using all forms of transport. Wagons not always M,S,M. People speeding, not indicating, not using lights or using fog lamps when not needed. Bikes jumping lights wearing dark clothing with no lights riding on pavements. It can be a little annoying when a wagon needs to overtake but we just have to be a little tolerant as its harder for a wagon to slow down and speed up than it is in a car. Also if a wagon can keep a steady speed its fuel consumption is better. So if we all just chill a bit life will be a little better on the roads and what's a couple of minutes delay in the big circle of life :)
I am a class 1 driver haven't driven for 3 months because of health problems. I used to travel that route from Southampton to m40 on many occasions the dual carriageway is quite narrow. Where about on the a34 was this ned near newbury or after newbury after m4 near didcot. The other comments regarding overtaking are I think valid it is obvious you may not have been able to overtake the Tesco vehicle quick enough for the prat in the Toyota. I have had this on many occasions and decide to stay back get back in touch ned
That said, the driver at fault here is the driver of the car doing the dangerous brake check, we can all get peeved about being held up for 30 seconds, but then we could all be a bit more patient too, and not risk causing serious harm or even risk killing somebody, which is what I saw the driver of the car do.
Cant have been much of a gap if he was behind you straight after you pulled out, i had a similar thing happen to me except i think both drivers were limited to 50 as the overtake took about 3 minutes and this wound me right up aha
People have done this to me many times when I dare to hold them up in a slow car, without much acceleration. When they speed up, overtake and slow up in front of me, usually when I have pulled over to let them get past !!?? I'm left thinking "I thought you were supposed to be in a hurry - now you're slowing up. You can see it's really all about ape like atavistic competition and territorial behaviour, with more than a touch of solipsistic narcissism and an exaggerated sense of entitlement.
No, the speed limit for a truck on a dual carriageway is still 50mph 60 for PCV and 70 for cars/vans. And a permanent metal barrier doesn't make it a dual carriageway.....any physical separation makes it a dual carriageway, so either a grass division.
a 2mph difference in speed isn't enough to make an overtake sensible just sit behind it, even on a 7 hour trip 2mph makes 30 minutes difference. whats the point?
agree good point. nobody likes trucks on the road , but until they come up with a new invention for delivering everything we wear and eat and use ..trucks will be here :)
Well I've seen this many times and it hapens to me every other day. here in the States we call it break checking. But I feel for you Europian truckers. I was raised and started my driving carreer in Europe .Being governed to 52 MPH just suks. My company tractor here is governed to 65 MPH, and it is too slow. I ,ve had a truck governed to 73MPH and I loved it. even fully loaded to GVW 80.000lb i could maitain 70 whe one gets paid by the mile plus someting for each stop { delivery } one needs to move. Limited to working { including 30 min lunch break ] to max 14 hrs /day You can't waste time going 50 on a freeway.
The unbelievable thing is that there is now a tesco truck close behind with who won't have the faintest idea what is going on and could have hit you if you have to brake sharply and caused a huge crash scene. If the police got hold of this and could identify the driver, he should never be allowed behind the wheel of a car again
I agree with Eddie, as soon as I saw the spoiler I just knew that the driver would be a bell end. They live among us.
Look at the size of his rear spoiler thing. Sums it up just nicely.
I'm not defending the driver of the red car, but that's the factory spoiler.
Mort221 spot on. Hate the Driver not the car.
If it was me id of kept going run in the back of him then shown the police the footage. Would have taught him you cant play with a 40 ton artic.
stuartw312000
If I was sure the camera was recording I may have reacted differently lad
whats the speed limit for anhgv on an A road again ?
Are NHS trucks limited to 55 too? As I noticed one clogging Lane 1 of M4, at least the other HGVs look like they are overtaking at a descent speed for once when going 60 hehe.
I've often wondered why lorries travelling at 56.0113 miles per hour feel the need to overtake those travelling at 55.9783 miles per hour on a road like this for 12 miles
trucks go for 4 and a half hours at a time and believe it or not this small piece of speed over this time makes quite a difference and 90 per cent of the time us truckers are in a rush.
In a rush to suit the consumer!
dagan mcmanus Well a mile an hour will get you 4.5 miles ahead after 4.5 hours. That's not quite a bit of difference. About 8-9 minutes faster.
You have no clue..... how about you concentrate on your own job and leave us to the task of keeping the economy afloat...
dagan mcmanus You truckers sure are a testy little bunch.
Im sure Billy Ocean is delight with all the royalties...Thanks for watching this everybody...
hi ned like your vids im 22 and a driver aswell i love when i overtake another lorry and it tackes a bit of time getting by then you get the arsehole in a corsa giving you the finger at the side of you a quick swerve of the steering wheel you should c there face makes my day and that looks like a tidy volvo
chris duffy Sorry chris but what will happen if said driver over reacted on the wheel?
Ross Walke Agreed
You need to be taxed off the road. If he's going 50mph, keep with it you greedy b--tard.
You really pee people off - your actions are morally wrong. Your job and living come BEHIND everyone else's leisure.
It's morons like this that you see everyday that have made me want to turn it in after 34 years, keep up the good work ned
I hear Ya Lad :) Happy Holidays
well ned, it's easy to report to the police, and hand this video edvience over to them, cos you have his register plate number, he'll getting banned and get heavily fined.
Did you get the number plate?
Did you ever get any updates on this Ned?
Not one lad
From what I saw that was a quick overtake so I don't see the problem why this Toyota moron would be up in arms. I know most people would say I am stupid but honestly I would have just gone into the back of him because he is clearly putting his life at risk, acting like a complete fool and as you had another big lorry behind you that was a very dangerous situation he put you all in.
An Irish wagon limited to 52.... Pffffffttttt ha ha ha haaaaaa
Did you make a police report?
You shouldn't have braked. Would have done us all a favour.
+Martin Marriott
then Ned would be at fault on insurance. we cant have that
Some of the negative comments appall me and these guys who made them are as bad as that cranky idiot who could have caused carnage on the road that day killing innocent drivers.
Well said P Steele
Ned Kelly Ireland Your welcome Ned. Keep up the good work and expose the idiots that turn our roads into killing fields.
Or he could just stay in the slow lane when it's busy rather than blocking the road to go 2 mph faster...
thanks for the advice nedddyyy . lol, much appreciated.., hows things anyway? ive a few companies in mind really that i might hit for a few calls as some of them are a good distance away frm me here in bray ya know.. ive a few in mind like dixys and virginia and nolans in new ross.., have a friend that drives for them but hes based in wales.. also stobbart has me oin for the driver assesement in couple of wks time too soo something might come out of it.., thanks again !
Andy
did you get his reg? report him?
I am,as a car driver,do not see a problem here,in my case i wouldn't even brake, just slow down by taking your foot of the acceleration....it's not M road,so lorry allowed to use right lane....there is more chance that the red car idiot will cause the crash than this lorry driver....
he was doing less than 50 mph when i passed him and my speed was no more than 52mph at best but probably less i was busy watching my mirrors sorry cant be exact
agree with you about speed of passing due to limiter better of holding back it is bound to piss people off
Shut up
its a shame we cant see a reverse camera, im suspecting you pulled out while the car was going 70mph and you was going 52mph . if the guy in the car had to brake he must have got p**s off, thats the only reason i can see why he got mad, but the car driver should have not braked sharply in front of you,
Judging by the spoiler on his car he was probably going a lot faster than 70
50 52.. what? isnt uk/ir 96kph vs eu 90. or is this so old that something has changed since then? or i dont know. need explanation
is there many class 1 vacancies in Ireland
I
Recently, I was on the M-65, when a car came flying down a slip-road, than in a single movement, the car shot straight across to the outside [Lane 3] into several vehicles - all clearly without checking mirrors or looking back. It certainly gave everyone in the traffic a nasty scare. A couple even having to brake and/or avoid.
I think most would agree with you, Ned, Moe and -"SUDD-UP BILLY."
you shouldnt be allowed to overtake in hgv full stop
Wow, what a stupid comment.
The reasons they are allowed is to keep traffic flow up in lanes 1 and 2. They are not allowed in Lanes 3 (or more). So what happens when someone breaks down or the road is blocked in lane 1 ? Lol
Thanks for the info, I personally wouldn't have believed it due to the sheer number of trucks going much faster than that on the motorways of this country.
when i brake my volkswagen golf slows down straight away, when a 40 ton lorry brakes they take longer to stop, why is that,
OK the idiot in the car needs a ban but trucks should not be allowed to overtake on duel carriageways or motorways ,they cause these incidents ,This truck was driven very well in a responsible manor but I can tell you from years of driving experience truck drivers can be utter assholes that bully there way out and leave you sitting there for ages while he crawls past ,ban trucks from overtaking or allow them to go faster I don,t care either way,on a final note the worst offenders for phone use while driving from my experience are truck drivers ,I drive for work approx 40k per year so I have a fair cross the board reference.
When I am doing 70+ its frustrating, dangerous, wasteful of my time, fuel and brake pads to have to suddenly slow down for Mr Truck driver that thinks "I am indicating so I am going to pull out and I am bigger than you so its your problem!"
Trucks should not be allowed to pass each other on dual carriageways... then this would not be a problem.
PATIENCE
Minin' Net
That may be so... but it does not excuse they way alot of truck drivers act when pulling out on cars... and I disagree with your comment, we could/should put all that cargo back on trains and I would rather get to where i am going than sit behind trucks all day long... They are paid to sit on the road all day long 99.9% of the rest of us are not, its just a wast of our life.
Just a few things Reginald:
1: you have no idea how much room ned left so you cannot make such a comment about him.
They are there to make roads safer (no.3)
6: there is nothing selfish about trucks overtaking trucks.
Timothy Michael
Well in the next 10 years or less trucks will be driving themselves and they will do a much better job of it... so thats something to look forward to! :D
***** Aren't you the knight of the road. Maybe they were perfectly prepared to wait for you to pass until you decided to sit there. How do you think everyone behind you feels about you keeping pace with a lorry and holding them up? You can't complain about overtaking lorries when you're alongside a lorry and not even overtaking.
you are a real professional.During my times in the Uk trucking none of that happened
hey ned...., what do u think i shud do if companies want you to have experience but none of the fcukers wont open the doors for fellas like myself that want to have a career on the rd.. what u think i shud do ned or whats ur advice?
As for the peenarse in the car - without a rear view we don't know if you pulled out and made him brake/etc so can't say why he's annoyed but he's still an idiot either way.
simple you should have not pulled out, it's you lorry's that cause most of the problems on British roads
+Ned Kelly Ireland if you don't like our roads stay in bog land
That's orignal
+Ian g Having HGV's limited to different speeds on the road is a recipe for disaster, causing anger and frustration up and down the country, A14 is another example of "lorry racing" where long tailbacks occur with other road users, HGV's should be confined to lane one, all limited to the same speed, would be much safer all round.
Maverick47100 are someone sensible your right about the A14 there just bloody clowns
I'll subscribe :) great video
these trucks that do 2 miles an hour quicker should not overtake
Why not? That was a perfectly safe overtake, the only problem being he had an impatient ricer behind him. He pulled in as soon as he could, didn't seem to cause traffic as the only car to actually pass him after was the red car. I think all new car drivers should be shown what can happen if you brake check a 40 tonne lorry...
who can say that this truck driver didnt cut that driver up? thats usually the cause of road rage, when a hgv cuts you up so he can crawl past another hgv at 1 mile per hour faster eating spaghetti bolognese out of a sauce pan or watching a german war film on his laptop thats perched on the dash
thepoultrypeople sound like one of those important car drivers who think they must be in front
thepoultrypeople Your last post explains a lot about yourself.
I had the same done to me on the m25 at around 9am busy time by a woman with a kid in the back ' you can't educate pork Ned.
"Why aren't all trucks limited to 50?"
The same reasons cars and motorcycles aren't limited to 70. I'll leave you to work it out. The government know why, and HGV speed limits are set to rise on single and dual carriageways from January 1st next year. It can't come soon enough.
"This causes a bottle neck."
Nope.
As usual, the laws have not keep abreast with the motorway changes.
monk3yboy69 "No....the biggest reason for congestion is roads not built to handle the volume of traffic."
No.
Should have rammed his arse, then when he tried to claim it was your fault to the police for following too close just smile and point at the camera.
Adamhully two wrongs don,t make a right the cops will handle it
Great contribution,dextc..Thank you :)
Thanks for the input david
For over 20 Years I drove Large Emergency Service Trucks, with Red Lights, later Red and Blue Lights on My Trucks and nobody ever did this in front of Me.
did u get his number plates? he was a proper knob mate, good luck to you and KEEP ON TRUCKIN
Didn't you get his registration plate?
its a northern irl plate FIG...Something cant quite get it but even with the FIG bit and make of car and colour the police can trace it :)
Without trucks we'd be hungry, naked and homeless...!!
Thanks a mill, appreciate it :)
Just report footage. Then send to correct county if it needs to go there after finding out where the reg is
Thank you :)
I drive a lorry too. If you can't wait one minute or two behind me when I'm overtaking why should I wait behind someone for an hour?
Nail on the head, my point exactly!
I love Billy Ocean, haven't heard this song in years, Happy Memories :-)
+Google Sucks ............. Forgotten to take your meds today ???
He doesn’t deserve that car. The car would apologise, not the man. Spot on, 100% shitebag. Big man when he can get away quickly🥊💪🏻
So if you stop all trucks from overtaking then what happens when they come up behind a slower truck in a crawler - lane ? , not going to happen is it !!!
Thats the same guy who cut me off in Atlanta, Georgia. Love you site Ned.
Here in the USA, that is called "Brake Checking" and is a Major Issue here also!!
It's good to see that someone with so many views has such sensible opinions and is far more mature than most of the road rage people on YT. I've a great deal of respect for that :-)
Thanks Linda :)
Your right there Whammer, not very often you'd see us being left behind by morrisons & and mum's gone to Iceland lorries...:)
Soo, the gap you used to pull out because your vehicle goes 2 mph faster than the one in front wasent actually big enough and youve cut someone up.
didn't cut anyone up lad
Hi The Tesco truck was only doing about 40 mph , as u can see by how quickly i passed him, i wasnt blocking up the road
LMAO
And cameras are great!
Thanks Tom :)
didnt look that long to pass tesco truck, but i did notice the car had a sharks fin on the boot maybe that explains everything,,,he was a wet trout
If only this had been on the motorway, he could have used the GermanCar Lane & then He would have suffered the road rage lol.
I am not surprised at all
classic, im all for that direct approach :)
Thats great rob, thanks a million:)
Jayzus Ned. I'd say Moe was going right off.
well my first job was in dundalk long way from wicklow back before m50 took me 2 and half hours to get there
@trogolodyte....the speed limit for HGV's on a dual carriageway is only 50mph, not 60.
40 for single carriageway, 50 for dual carriageway and 60 for motorway.
I have had that happen to me many times in my truck driving career, to bad I didn't have a dashcam in them days.
The driver has no choice Tesco limit their trucks to 49.9mph otherwise you would t catch them🤨
well done Ned.This is a rare thing in the UK but it can happen very often everywhere else especially Ireland.I think as truck drivers from Ireland we should get some lads together to open a facebook page & high light some of the problems we face including abuse from other road users the police abuse we get sometimes & abuse by customers employees. It needs to be shown.any suggestions welcome.
I had a guy do that at the bottom of the hill at Newport on the M4, he was much closer to the front of my artic and had two young girls not strapped in in the back of his car if I hadn't reacted quickly and stamped on the brakes those two young girls may well have wound up dead and me too traumatised to go back to work
I've never seen a paddi driver with a limiter set under the speed limit :/ I'm guessing your trying to max the mpg
It's the company policy all trucks are limited to 85km 52 mph
Did you report him to the police? Dangerous driving can lead to a license ban :) I''ve had to do it a few times while cycling.
a 2mph difference in speed isn't enough to make an overtake sensible just sit behind it, even on a 7 hour trip 2mph makes 30 minutes difference. whats the point?
agree good point. nobody likes trucks on the road , but until they come up with a new invention for delivering everything we wear and eat and use ..trucks will be here :)
Really appreciate all the comments folks .
Thanks to all who shared and contributed..
Healthy debate, either way...Ned
I bet the Tesco truck drivers was thinking "That trucker in front of me is a dickhead" hehehe
Thanks Allen
It is an articulated vehicle their speed limit is 60mph on dual carriageways and motorways, as they are a towing vehicle with a trailer.
i love the way he boots it off with his middle finger up then has to slow down for another lorry that is overtaking :)
